Legionella pneumophila exists widely in natural environment and artificial water system, and its infection can cause serious Legionnaires′disease with high mortality. Therefore, rapid and accurate detection of Legionella pneumophila is important for public health and safety. In this paper, the detection methods of Legionella pneumophila, such as culture method, immunology, molecular biology and enzyme substrate method, as well as the new development of related technologies and emerging detection techniques in recent years are reviewed.
