Chinese Journal of School Health 2026;47(1):1-5
Abstract
The prevention and control of myopia in Chinese children and adolescents has become a major public health issue. While maintaining increased outdoor activity as a cornerstone intervention, there is an urgent need to explore new complementary approaches that can be effectively implemented in both indoor and outdoor settings. In recent years, environmental spatial frequency has gained increasing attention as one of the key environmental factors influencing the development and progression of myopia. Both animal studies and human research have confirmed that indoor environments lacking mid to high spatial frequency components, often characterized as "visually impoverished", can promote axial elongation and myopia through mechanisms such as disruption of retinal neural signaling, impaired accommodative function, and altered expression of related molecules. Based on the scientific consensus, it is recommended that "enriching of environmental spatial frequency" should be integrated into the myopia prevention and control framework. Following the principles of schoolled organization, family cooperation, community involvement, and student participation, specific measures are put forward in three areas:optimizing school visual settings, improving home spatial environments, and promoting healthy visual behavior. The aim is to create "visually friendly" indoor environments as an important supplement to outdoor activity, thereby providing a novel perspective and strategy for comprehensively advancing myopia prevention and control among children and adolescents.

Acta Universitatis Medicinalis Anhui 2025;60(10):1908-1917
Objective:
To investigate the regulatory role of Porphyromonas gingivalis(Pg) infection on the EGFR/GSK3β signaling axis, and its impact on epithelial-mesenchymal transition(EMT) and cetuximab(Ctx) resistance in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma(ESCC).
Methods:
Single cell RNA sequencing was employed to perform differential analysis of cellular subpopulations, identifying differentially expressed genes in ESCC tissues infected and non-infected with Pg. IHC was conducted to assess the expression of Pg and epidermal growth factor receptor(EGFR) in ESCC tissues. Western blot, RT-PCR, and IF staining were performed to evaluate EGFR expression in Pg infected ESCC cell lines KYSE70 and TE1. ESCC cells were treated with Pg and EGFR inhibitor Ctx, and divided into four groups: control(NC) group, Pg group, Ctx group, Pg+Ctx group. Cell proliferation, migration and invasion abilities were evaluated using CCK-8, plate cloning, wound healing and Transwell assay. Western blot analysis was performed to detect the expression of EMT and EGFR/GSK3β signaling pathway-associated proteins and their phosphorylation levels. Transforming growth factor-β1(TGF-β1) was used to induce EMT in ESCC cells, promoting a transition from the epithelial phenotype to mesenchymal-like phenotype. The differential effects of Ctx on these two phenotypic states were subsequently compared.
Results:
Epithelial cells were predominantly enriched in Pg-positive tissues, and Pg infection promoted the upregulation of EGFR expression in ESCC cells. Compared to the NC group, Pg treatment significantly enhanced the proliferation, invasion and migration capabili-ties of ESCC cells, and also increased chemoresistance to Ctx and reduced its antitumor efficacy. Pg induced EMT in ESCC cellsviathe EGFR/GSK3β signaling pathway. Notably, Ctx exhibited markedly weaker inhibitory effects on mesenchymal-like cells compared to epithelial ESCC cells.
Conclusion
Pg promotes ESCC cells proliferation, invasion and migration by regulating EMT through the EGFR/GSK3β signaling pathway, and enhances chemoresistance to Ctx.

Objective:To understand the consultation for post-exposure prophylaxis(PEP) services and their related factors among college students who were at high risk for HIV infection in Hangzhou, and to provide a reference basis for formulating an intervention model for college students at high risk of HIV infection. Methods:A cross-sectional survey was conducted between November 2022, and March 2023, in 5 different types of schools in Hangzhou. The subjects should meet the inclusion criteria of age between 18 years and 24 years old self-reported having ever had sex in the past. The sample size was estimated at 864. An online survey was conducted among college students by questionnaire star of an online survey platform to collect their demographic information, sexual behavior characteristics, HIV test status, and consultation for PEP services. The HIV infection risk among participants was evaluated according to their sexual behavior. The consultation for PEP services and the related factors of college students who were at high risk for HIV infection were analyzed. Results:A total of 20 973 college students were surveyed, and 2 291 who have ever had sex were recruited in the study. The proportion assessed as being at high risk for HIV infection was 43.47% (996/2 291), and the proportion of consultation for PEP services was 9.24% (92/996). Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that among college students who were at high risk for HIV infection, the positive related factors of consultation for PEP services included knowing about PEP services (a OR=17.49, 95% CI: 7.98-38.36) ,having HIV tests (a OR=3.92, 95% CI: 2.08-7.42) and access to condoms on campus (a OR=3.38, 95% CI: 2.02-5.65), and the negative related factor was homosexual orientation (a OR=0.24, 95% CI: 0.06-0.91). Conclusions:Among college students who were at high risk for HIV infection, the proportion of consultation for PEP services was at a lower level. It is necessary to strengthen further the health education of PEP services knowledge among college students, improve the PEP services system, and promote the utilization of PEP services to reduce new HIV infections among college students.

Objective To analyze differentially expressed proteins(DEPs)in the hippocampal tissue of an amyloid-beta 1-42(Aβ1-42)-induced Alzheimer's disease(AD)rat model using Tandem mass tag(TMT)-based quantitative proteomics, followed by bioinformatic analysis to explore potential AD mechanisms. Methods Twelve male Sprague-Dawley(SD)rats were randomly assigned to a control group(n=6)and a model group(n=6).The AD model was established by bilateral hippocampal injection of Aβ1-42 in the model group, while the control group received an equivalent volume of saline.Cognitive function was assessed using the novel object recognition test, and hippocampal Aβ deposition was detected by immunofluorescence.DEPs were identified using TMT-based proteomics and subsequently analyzed via Gene Ontology(GO)annotation,Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes(KEGG)pathway enrichment, and protein-protein interaction(PPI)network analysis.Key DEPs were validated using parallel reaction monitoring(PRM)technology. Results The model group exhibited a significantly lower novel object recognition index(P<0.01)and significantly increased hippocampal Aβ deposition(P<0.01)compared to the control group.Proteomic analysis identified 183 DEPs(87 upregulated,96 downregulated).GO analysis revealed that DEPs were primarily enriched in processes such as amyloid-beta binding and ion transmembrane transport.KEGG analysis indicated significant enrichment in 42 pathways, including dopaminergic synapse, glutamatergic synapse, cholinergic synapse, and long-term potentiation.Ten core DEPs were identified from the PPI network, and PRM validation confirmed expression trends consistent with the TMT results. Conclusion Aβ1-42-induced AD involves the synergistic action of multiple targets, biological processes, and pathways. The activation of glutamatergic and dopaminergic synaptic signaling pathways, mediated by core DEPs(e.g.,Th、D1、VGLUT2、GluN2A、GluA1、GluA3、Shank1、DARPP-32、PKC-δ、PKC-α、PKA C-β、CaMKⅡα、PTK2B),likely represents a key molecular mechanism in this AD model, providing a basis for identifying potential therapeutic targets.
