Although small in size, the eyeballs are extremely important in function, and are delicate and complex in structure. With the wide application of acupuncture for eye diseases and the high frequency of use of intra-orbital points, the incidence of acupuncture accidents increases accordingly in treatment. We reported two recent accident cases, retinal tear and ciliochoroidal detachment that occurred during the regular operation of acupuncture and acupoint injection at intra-orbital points, in order to strengthen people's awareness of acupuncture accidents caused by acupuncture at the points in the orbital region, and enhance the sound development and comprehensive promotion of acupuncture in treatment of eye diseases.

Journal of Experimental Hematology 2025;33(3):899-905
OBJECTIVE:
To explore the clinical characteristics, diagnosis, and treatment methods of one patient with idiopathic multicentric Castleman disease (iMCD), in order to strengthen the understanding of this rare disease.
METHODS:
The clinical manifestations, diagnosis and treatment process, and prognosis of one patient with iMCD admitted to our hospital were retrospectively analyzed.
RESULTS:
The patient was a 45-year-old female with swollen bilateral orbit, edema of lower limbs, multiple serosal cavity effusion, thrombocytopenia, renal insufficiency, and multiple lymph node enlargement. Lymph node biopsy suggested mixed type of Castleman disease. Combined with pathology, imaging and laboratory examination, the patient was finally diagnosed with mixed type of iMCD. After six cycles of R-COP regimen chemotherapy, the patient achieved complete remission.
CONCLUSIONS
Castleman disease with renal and orbit involvement is rare in clinic and easy to be misdiagnosed. It should be distinguished from lymphoma. The patient has been treated with R-COP regimen, and obtained good short-term efficacy.

Philippine Journal of Ophthalmology 2023;48(2):78-81
Objective:
We report a case of orbitofrontal cholesterol granuloma as a rare differential diagnosis of orbital erosion in the diploe of the frontal bone.
Methods:
This is a case report.
Results:
A 50-year-old man presented with right eye proptosis. Computed tomography (CT) scan of the orbit showed a fairly delineated homogeneous mass centered in the diploe of the right frontal bone with calcification and rugged erosion of the frontal bone and with expansion into the right superotemporal orbit. The patient was initially diagnosed with malignant lacrimal gland tumor on the right. He underwent orbitotomy with excision of the mass. Histopathologic studies of the excised mass revealed a cholesterol granuloma.
Conclusion
Cholesterol granulomas of the frontal bone in the superotemporal orbit are rare benign lesions that present with bone destruction and can be mistaken for lacrimal gland malignancies. Surgical excision has a high success rate with low incidence of recurrence.

Philippine Journal of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery 2022;37(1):46-51
Objective:
To describe our reconstruction of an orbital roof and lateral wall defect using a split- thickness calvarial bone graft with titanium mesh complex after resection of a meningioma of the left greater wing of the sphenoid with extension to the left frontotemporal bone and left orbital roof and lateral wall.
Methods:
Study Design: Surgical Innovation.
Setting: Tertiary Private University Hospital.
Patient: One.
Results:
A 44-year-old woman with a left frontotemporal mass associated with left eye proptosis and epiphora underwent reconstruction of the left orbital roof and lateral wall defect using split-thickness calvarial bone graft with titanium mesh and screws after a left frontotemporal craniectomy, superior and lateral orbital wall resection of a mass of the sphenoid wing with orbital and frontotemporal extension. Final histopathology was consistent with meningioma. Surveillance of the mass and orbital reconstruction showed evidence of bone growth and osteointegration of the titanium mesh into the bone grafts.
Conclusion
The initial good outcome of orbital roof and lateral wall reconstruction using split-thickness calvarial bone graft with titanium mesh is evidenced by osteointegration of the titanium mesh and revascularization leading to new bone growth. This autogenous-alloplastic complex may provide a more stable option for orbital reconstruction, but long term follow-up is needed for surveillance of recurrence and monitoring the status of orbital reconstruction.

Chinese Journal of Otorhinolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery 2021;56(9):907-913
Objective: To explore the method and plausibility of using free rectus abdominis flap (FRAF) to reconstruct the major and complex defects in the craniofacial regions after ablation of advanced sinonasal carcinoma. Methods: From 2007 to 2018 at No. 980 Hospital of Joint Logistic Supportive Force of People's Liberation Army of China, 13 patients with advanced carcinoma of nasal cavity and paranasal sinuses, including 11 males and 2 females, aged from 33 to 67 years, were treated with FRAF to repair the invasion of skull base, face and orbit. Based on adequate and meticulous preoperative evaluations on patients and tumors, complete resection of tumor bulks was performed. According to the sites, characters and extents of the defects, FRAF was introduced in different ways into reconstruction of major and complex defects in the craniofacial regions after resection of advanced sinonasal carcinomas, restoring the structure and contour of the craniofacial region. Results: Complete resection of tumors was achieved in all cases. For repairing the major and complex defects resulted from tumor ablation, FRAF graft was conducted in 13 patients with advanced sinonasal carcinomas. The recipient vessels were facial artery and vein in 9 cases, superficial temporal artery and vein in 4 cases. Vascular bridging with the external jugular vein was carried out in 2 cases who underwent submandibular neck dissections, in which facial artery and vein were used as recipient vessels. Free fibular flap was used along with FRAF in a case undergone bilateral maxillectomy. Pedicled galea capitis and periosteal flap were applied simultaneously in 3 cases with dura defects at the skullbase resulted from tumor resection. All flaps used in 13 cases survived uneventfully without major complications, with successful repair of defects, reconstruction of structures and restoration of contour of craniofacial regions. Conclusion: With adequate evaluation of resectability of tumors as well as nature and extent of defects after tumor removal, FRAF transplantation is an ideal method and strategy of choice for reconstructing the major and complex defects in craniofacial regions resulted from tumor ablation of advanced sinonasal carcinomas.

Allergy, Asthma & Respiratory Disease 2020;8(1):45-49
Immunoglobulin (Ig) G4-related disease (IgG4-RD) is newly recognized immune-mediated and fibroinflammatory conditions with various organ involvements. Any organs can be involved, but the pancreas, salivary gland, lymph nodes, and orbit are known to be commonly involved organs. A 54-year-old man presented with complaint of psoriasis like skin rash developed 4 years prior to admission. Although he had been treated for skin rash, the extent of skin lesions increased as well as hypereosinophilia, and multiple lymphadenopathies were newly developed. The patient was diagnosed with IgG4-RD by serum IgG4 levels and histologic examination of the inguinal lymph node. One month after treatment with steroid and azathioprine, his skin rash and lymphadenopathies resolved with improvement and eosinophil count was within the normal range. We herein report a case of a IgG4-RD patient associated with psoriasis-like skin rash and hypereosinophilic syndrome.

Journal of Korean Medical Science 2020;35(7):57-
BACKGROUND: The big data provided by Health Insurance Review and Assessment (HIRA) contains data from nearly all Korean populations enrolled in the National Health Insurance Service. We aimed to identify the incidence of facial fractures and its trends in Korea using this big data from HIRA.METHODS: We used the Korean Standard Classification of Disease and Cause of Death 6, 7 for diagnosis codes. A total of 582,318 patients were included in the final analysis. All statistical analyses were performed using SAS software and SPSS software.RESULTS: The incidence of facial fractures consistently declined, from 107,695 cases in 2011 to 87,306 cases in 2016. The incidence of facial fractures was the highest in June 2011 (n = 26,423) and lowest in January 2014 (n = 10,282). Nasal bone fractures were the most common, followed by orbit and frontal sinus fractures. The percentage of nasal bone fractures declined, whereas those of orbital fractures increased from 2011 to 2016 (P < 0.001). Among orbital fractures, inferior wall fractures were the most common, followed by medial wall fractures. Among mandibular fractures, angle fractures were the most common, followed by condylar process and symphysis fractures. Although it was difficult to predict the most common type of zygomatic and maxilla fractures, their incidence consistently declined since 2011.CONCLUSION: We observed trends in facial fractures in Korea using big data including information for nearly all nations in Korea. Therefore, it is possible to predict the incidence of facial fractures. This study is meaningful in that it is the first study that investigated the incidence of facial fractures by specific type.
