This study was conducted to bridge the gap between modern dietary guidelines and revelation-based dietary
principles through the development of a faith-based dietary model grounded in Quranic teachings. The main
objective was to identify food items mentioned in the Quran, analyse their frequency, and integrate these findings
with contemporary nutrition knowledge to develop the Islamic Quranic Pie Chart (iQ-Carta PAI™). A two-phase
approach was applied, where selected Quranic verses were analysed using classical tafsir and digital corpus
tools, resulting in the identification of 188 food references across 53 surahs. These food items were grouped into
key nutritional categories, including fruits, protein sources, cereals, water, and healthy fats, and further classified
according to plant or animal origin. The frequency of food mentions was used to inform the proportional visual
weighting of each category in the Pie Chart, serving both descriptive and structural purposes in the model design.
The developed model highlights key Islamic dietary principles such as halalan tayyiban (lawful and wholesome
food), moderation (wasatiyyah), and avoidance of excess and waste. When compared with the Malaysian Dietary
Guidelines (2020), the findings showed clear alignment, particularly in the emphasis on plant-based foods,
balanced intake, and moderation. Overall, iQ-Carta PAI™ provides a simple and spiritually relevant dietary
guideline model that integrates Quranic values with modern nutrition principles and may support nutrition
education, public health programmes, and faith-based health promotion among Muslim communities

Medical Journal of Indonesia 2026;35(3):215-227
BACKGROUND :
Research on neural stem cells (NSCs) using rodents to represent NSC protein markers and their anatomical distribution in comparison to humans is still limited. To address this gap, this review aimed to identify the protein markers expressed by NSCs and compare their anatomical locations in rodents and humans.
METHODS :
A systematic review was performed in accordance with preferred reporting items for systematic reviews and meta-analysis guidelines. Comprehensive searches were performed in PubMed, ScienceDirect, and Nature databases for studies published between March 2023 and March 2024. Eligible studies, data extraction and synthesis focused on the type of NSC markers and the sites of detection.
RESULTS :
A total of 47 studies were analyzed. Frequently reported NSC markers included Nestin, glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP), sex determining region Y (SRY)-box transcription factor 2, SRY-box transcription factor 9, doublecortin, oligodendrocyte transcription factor 2 (Olig2), Ki-67, β-tubulin III, and S100β. In rodent, NSCs were consistently positive detected in the lateral ventricle, hippocampus, peri-infarct area, and cerebral cortex. In humans, similar patterns were observed with additional reports of NSC markers such as Ki-67, GFAP, Olig2, and Nestin may detected in peri-infarct, blood serum, and cerebrospinal fluid.
CONCLUSIONS
NSC markers and anatomical distribution are similar between rodents and humans, emphasizing the validity of rodent models in neurogenesis research.

INTERNET ADDICTION AND DEPRESSION AMONG ADOLESCENTS DURING COVID-19 PANDEMIC IN PUNCAK ALAM: A CROSS-SECTIONAL STUDY
The global impact of the COVID-19 pandemic has led to substantial disruptions on a worldwide scale. People all over the world were expected to face a variety of mental health issues during this outbreak. Internet addiction may become a serious problem among adolescents, especially during online distance learning. Assessing adolescents' heavy Internet use is crucial for determining their psychological health. Thus, this study aimed to determine the level of internet addiction and depression among adolescents in Puncak Alam, Selangor, during the COVID-19 pandemic. A cross-sectional study was conducted on 174 respondents aged 13 to 17. The convenience sampling method was employed, where respondents completed questionnaires comprising eight items related to demographic information, 19 items based on the Internet Addiction Test (IAT), and 10 items related to the Depression scale, all specific to the COVID-19 pandemic period. The study revealed that 36.8% of respondents exhibited a mild level of Internet addiction, and 45.5% displayed a mild level of depression. A statistically significant (p = 0.01) yet weak positive correlation (r = 0.195) was identified between Internet addiction and depression, indicating that as Internet addiction increases, so does the level of depression, albeit weakly. These findings highlight the presence of mild Internet addiction and depression among adolescents. In the wake of the pandemic, it becomes crucial to tackle these issues through focused interventions and continuous research, aiming to bolster the mental health of young individuals in this digital era.

Malaysian Journal of Medicine and Health Sciences 2023;19(No.4):273-281
Introduction: Dietary inflammation is a significant risk factor for age-related cognitive impairments among older adults. However, information related to the relationship between Empirical Dietary Inflammatory Index (eDII) score and cognitive frailty (CF) among Malaysian community-dwelling older adults is still limited. The objective of this study is to determine the association between dietary inflammatory risk and CF among community-dwelling older adults. Method: This is a cross sectional study involving community-dwelling older adults in Klang Valley. The Fried’s Criteria and Clinical Dementia Rating (CDR) were used to determine CF status. Subjects were also interviewed using the Dietary History Questionnaire (DHQ) and eDII food checklist to assess the food intake and dietary
inflammatory risk. Data collected was analyzed using SPSS version 26.0. Results: A total of 158 older adults (66.7 ± 5.2 years old) residing in Klang Valley were involved. Energy and macronutrients have a weak positive association with pro-inflammatory score (p<0.05). There is no significant mean difference between CF older adults consumed a more pro-inflammatory diet (mean 2.07 ± 1.10) compared to non CF (mean 2.06 ± 1.14). However, white rice food item significantly consumed by CF people (22.4%) than non CF (8.5%) (p<0.05). Conclusion: CF older adults were more likely to consume a pro-inflammatory diet particularly from the rice food group. There is a need to further assess the risk of consuming a pro-inflammatory diet using larger sample size and appropriate biomarkers.

Introduction:
The use of assessment tools to measure postnatal mental illness is essential in healthcare settings. However, variations in the types of tools and their reliability in a particular population lead to under-recognition of mental health status in postnatal mothers. The aim of this review is to evaluate the most recent 10 year of research on the validity and reliability of postnatal mental illness assessment tools.
Methods:
A literature search of studies from online databases PubMed, Scopus, and Science Direct was conducted.
Results:
A total of 59 studies were selected for this review. Several studies utilised multiple assessment tools, and a total of 96 assessment tools were identified and classified into six domains: postnatal blues, postnatal stress, postnatal anxiety, postnatal depression, postnatal psychosis, and postnatal psychological disorder. In this review, EPDS was the most common tool used to identify postnatal depression and anxiety while DASS 21 was the most common tool used to identify postnatal psychological disorder. There is a wide range in preponderance of evidence for the reliability of each assessment tool and there were inconsistencies in assessing the validity of the assessment tools.
Conclusion
This review provides information regarding some of the main assessment tools currently available to measure postnatal mental illnesses. There were no standardised tools that were used in a particular setting. The results may differ in different population because there are differences in not only languages and dialects, but also cultural and racial backgrounds, which greatly influences their perception and interpretation of postnatal mental illness.

Introduction: Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death worldwide. Despite the proven benefit of secondary prevention medications (SPMs), their utilisation remains suboptimal in many countries. This study aimed to assess the use of SPMs in a Malaysian primary care clinic and factors associated with it.
Methods: A retrospective review of electronic medical records was conducted to assess the prescription of SPMs among patients with coronary artery disease who attended the clinic between 1st January 2018 and 31st December 2018. Prescriptions of SPMs were documented in numbers and percentages. Multiple logistic regressions were used to analyse factors associated with the prescription of SPMs.
Results: Of the 662 patients included in the study, 99.1% were prescribed statins, 97% antiplatelets, 81.7% angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE)-inhibitors or angiotensin Ⅱ receptor blockers (ARBs), and 78.7% beta-blockers. Male patients were more likely to be prescribed statins (OR = 8.584, 95% CI: 1.431 – 51.510) and antiplatelets (OR = 6.818, 95% CI: 2.294 – 20.257). Another significant factor for antiplatelets prescription was having diabetes (OR = 3.318, 95% CI: 1.148 – 9.590). Having hypertension was associated with ACE-inhibitors or ARBs prescription (OR = 4.008, 95% CI: 2.522 – 6.370).
Conclusion: Although the majority of patients received SPMs, there were significant disparities for some SPMs prescriptions among female patients. As these medications are widely available in the Malaysian primary care setting, steps should be taken to ensure that these medications are prescribed equally for all eligible patients.

Syzygium polyanthum is traditionally used as anti-hypertensive agent. However, the nephroprotective effects of S.
polyanthum against hypertensive induced chronic kidney disease has yet to be elucidated. This study was conducted to
determine the antioxidant properties and nephroprotective effects of aqueous extract of S. polyanthum (AESP) in the
spontaneous hypertensive rat model (SHR). The phytochemical constituent was identified using the phytochemical
screening and HPLC methods. The in vitro antioxidant activities were determined by DPPH radical scavenging and
ferric reducing antioxidant power (FRAP) assays. Fifty male SHR were equally divided into 5 groups, (n=10/group);
Untreated-SHR, 20 mg/kg Losartan-treated SHR, 1500 mg/kg AESP treated SHR, 1750 mg/kg AESP treated SHR and
2250 mg/kg AESP treated SHR, while 10 male Wistar Kyoto rats (WKY) were used as control. Losartan and AESP were
administered by oral gavage. Rats were sacrificed after 12 weeks of experiment. The phytochemicals include phenolics,
flavonoids and alkaloids were identified. AESP has high antioxidant activity as shown by antioxidant assays. AESP
normalised systolic blood pressure (p<0.05) and significantly improved renal function (p<0.05). AESP also significantly
reduced malondialdehyde (MDA) (p<0.05) and increased superoxide dismutase (SOD) levels in the serum as compared
to untreated-SHR group (p<0.05). Ultrastructure of renal damage improved by supplementation of AESP. Conclusively,
S. polyanthum is potential to alleviate hypertensive induced chronic kidney disease through its antioxidant properties.

Malaysian Journal of Medicine and Health Sciences 2020;16(No.2):320-322
Interpretation of thyroid function test (TFT) is often straightforward but in certain scenarios, discordance between the clinical impression and the laboratory results exists. A 50-year-old woman with a ten years history of hypothyroidism on levothyroxine presented with a recent notable change in TFT [elevated free thyroxine (FT4) and thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH)], in an otherwise clinically euthyroid and previously stable TFT, leading to levothyroxine being withheld. This case report highlights the possibility of assay interference as a cause of discordant TFT. It also draws the importance of close collaboration between clinicians and the laboratory to avoid unnecessary investigations and inappropriate management of such a case.

Artocarpus heterophyllus has been used as traditional medicine. This plant is one of the sources of flavonoid. Flavonoid compounds possessed a wide range of biological properties including anticancer. This study was performed to investigate the cytotoxic effect of flavonoids from A. heterophyllus on H460 and MCF-7 cell lines. The interaction of flavonoids and cisplatin against tested cancer cells was also evaluated. MTT assay was used to determine the cytotoxic effect of flavonoid. Isobologram analysis was selected to evaluate the synergistic effect between flavonoid and cisplatin, their interaction was then confirmed using AO/PI staining method. Amongst of flavonoid compounds, artocarpin exhibited strong cytotoxic effect on both MCF-7 and H460 cell lines with IC₅₀ values of 12.53 µg/mL (28.73 µM) and 9.77 µg/mL (22.40 µM), respectively. This compound enhanced anticancer activity of cisplatin against H460 and MCF-7. The combination produced a synergistic effect on H460 and MCF-7 cell lines with a combination index (CI) values of 0.2 and 0.18, respectively. The AO/PI stained demonstrated that the combination of artocarpin and cisplatin caused morphological changes that indicated apoptosis. Moreover, artocarpanone also significantly increased cytotoxic effect of cisplatin compared to its single concentration with CI below than 1. This result suggested the potency of flavonoid named artocarpin to enhance the anticancer activity of cisplatin on H460 and MCF-7 cell lines.
