ObjectiveTo systematically evaluate the application of narrative education in undergraduate nursing teaching, to understand the current application status of narrative education, and to provide a theoretical basis for the subsequent establishment of a sound narrative education system. MethodsA systematic search was conducted for studies published in Chinese and English databases on applying narrative education to undergraduate nursing teaching, with the search period ranging from database inception to February 23, 2025. Literature was screened, and relevant information was extracted. A rigorous quality evaluation was conducted on the included studies, and a descriptive analysis was performed on their content. ResultsA total of 20 papers were included, involving 3,180 research subjects, all of whom were undergraduate nursing students. The results of descriptive analysis showed that the teaching model of narrative education primarily encompassed reading narrative works, watching films and videos, performing narrative scenarios, and writing reflective journals. The course setting and content covered pre-teaching preparation and in-teaching implementation. The evaluation of teaching effectiveness included the evaluation of teachers’ teaching methods (student evaluation/self-evaluation) and the evaluation of students’ learning effectiveness (course grade evaluation/humanistic care scale/empathy scale assessment, and others). ConclusionNarrative education combines abstract concepts with concrete clinical situations, which not only enriches students’ learning experiences but also enhances their humanistic literacy. Meanwhile, it provides teachers with opportunities to develop their narrative teaching skills, which requires them to possess profound professional knowledge and employ narrative techniques to guide students in reflection and critical thinking, thereby improving teaching quality and learning outcomes. Future efforts should consistently deepen the connotation research of narrative education and build a systematic nursing education system.

Objective:To analyze the correlation between 24-hour urinary sodium excretion and early renal function impairment in patients with primary hypertension. Methods:This cross-sectional study included patients with primary hypertension who were admitted to the Department of Cardiology of the Chinese People′s Liberation Army General Hospital between January 2021 and October 2024. Patients were divided into low-sodium, medium-sodium, and high-sodium groups based on their 24-hour urinary sodium excretion. General clinical data were collected using the electronic medical record system. Urinary sodium, protein, and microalbumin excretion were analyzed from 24-hour urine samples. Spearman correlation analysis was used to explore the relationship between 24-hour urinary sodium excretion and urinary microalbumin excretion. A multiple linear regression model was used to further assess the independent association between these variables. Subgroup analyses were conducted based on age were performed to determine whether age influenced the relationship between urinary sodium excretion and renal function impairment. Results:A total of 1 065 patients with primary hypertension were included, with a mean age of (55.26±14.06) years, including 568(53.33%) males. The low-sodium, medium-sodium, and high-sodium groups included 223, 579, and 263 patients, respectively. The 24-hour urinary microalbumin excretion in the high-sodium group was significantly higher than in the medium-sodium and low-sodium groups, and this trend remained consistent across different age groups (all P<0.05). Spearman correlation analysis showed a positive correlation between 24-hour urinary sodium excretion and urinary microalbumin excretion ( r=0.220, P<0.001), and this relationship was observed in all age groups (all P<0.05). Multiple linear regression analysis confirmed an independent association between 24-hour urinary sodium excretion and urinary microalbumin excretion (all P<0.001), which persisted across different age groups (all P<0.05). Conclusion:In patients with primary hypertension, 24-hour urinary sodium excretion is closely associated with microalbumin excretion, suggesting a potential link to early renal function impairment.

Objective:To examine the regulatory effects of a potential antifibrotic tetrapeptide called N-acetyl-seryl-aspartyl-lysyl-proline (Ac-SDKP) on the expression of epidermal growth factor (EGFR) and signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 (STAT3) in lung tissues with fibrosis induced by silicosis in rats. This study aims to explore the potential therapeutic benefits of Ac-SDKP in the prevention and treatment of fibrotic lung diseases associated with silicosis. Methods:In January 2024, disease targets and Ac-SDKP active ingredients were predicted through GeneCards (https://www.genecards.org) and OMIM (https://www.omim.org) databases. Using R 4.2.1 software, we identified overlapping targets between pulmonary fibrosis and AC-SDKP. Cytoscape 3.10.2 was employed to visualize interactions between active chemical components and these targets, followed by GO enrichment analysis and KEGG pathway analysis using R 4.2.1. Forty healthy adult Wistar rats were selected to establish silicosis models through single-dose gavage with 50 mg/ml silica suspension (1. 0 ml per rat). The rats were randomly divided into four groups: model control group (4 weeks), silicosis model group (4 weeks), Ac-SDKP preventive treatment group (acquired via intraperitoneal injection of a micro-release pump containing Ac-SDKP [800 μg/ (kg·d) ] during modeling, maintained for 4 weeks), and Ac-SDKP anti-fibrosis treatment group (acquired via intraperitoneal injection of the same pump after 2 weeks of modeling, continued maintenance for 2 weeks). Each group contained 10 rats. The pathological changes in rat lung tissues were observed. Western blot technology was used to detect the protein expression levels of α-smooth muscle actin (α-SMA), epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR), signal transduction and activation transcription factor 3 (STAT 3), caspase 3, and caspase 8 in lung tissues. Immunohistochemical techniques were employed to assess the expressions of EGFR, STAT3, caspase 3, and caspase 8. Overall differences between groups were compared using one-way ANOVA.Results:Compared with the control group in the silicosis model, rats in the 4-week group exhibited significant fibrotic nodules. The lung tissues of these rats showed statistically significant increases in α-SMA, EGFR, STAT 3, Caspase 3, and Caspase 8 protein expression ( P<0.05). In contrast, the Ac-SDKP prevention and anti-fibrosis treatment group demonstrated markedly reduced expression levels of these proteins compared to the 4-week silicosis model group, with statistically significant differences ( P<0.05). Immunohistochemical staining revealed that brownish-yellow expression of EGFR, STAT3, Caspase3, and Caspase8 was significantly enhanced in silicotic nodules within the silicosis model group. Conversely, this brownish-yellow expression was notably decreased in the Ac-SDKP prevention and anti-fibrosis treatment group compared to the 4-week silicosis model group. Conclusion:Ac-SDKP may exert antifibrotic effects on the lungs of rats with silicosis by regulating the EGFR/STAT3 pathway.

OBJECTIVE To investigate the anti-inflammatory effects and mechanism of Zhuang medicine Tongfeng li’an capsules on gouty arthritis in combination with in vivo and in vitro experiments. METHODS Sixty rats were randomly divided into normal group, model group, positive control group (27 mg/kg allopurinol+0.27 mg/kg colchicine), Tongfeng li’an capsules low- dose, medium-dose and high-dose groups (2.2, 4.5, 9.0 g/kg), with 10 rats in each group. Except for normal group, gouty arthritis model of rats was induced in other groups. Rats in each administration group were given corresponding drugs intragastrically, and rats in the normal group and model group were given equal volume of water intragastrically for 14 consecutive days. The degree of ankle joint swelling, serum level of interleukin-1β (IL-1β) and protein expressions of nuclear factor kappa-B (NF-κB) in synovial tissue were detected, and the histopathological changes of synovium tissue in the ankle joint of rats were observed. The inflammation model was established by stimulating RAW264.7 cells with lipopolysaccharide. After Tongfeng li’an capsules (62.5, 125, 250 μg/mL) were given, the levels of nitric oxide (NO), reactive oxygen species (ROS) and IL-1β in the cells and protein expression of NF-κB were detected, and NF-κB localization in the cells was also determined. RESULTS Results of in vivo experiment showed that compared with normal group, the swelling degree of the ankle joint, serum IL-1β level and protein expression of NF-κB in synovium tissue were all increased significantly in model group (P<0.05); pathological changes such as synovial hyperplasia, edema, vascular congestion, capillary hyperplasia, and increased inflammatory cells were observed. Compared with model group, the levels of above indexes were all decreased significantly in Tongfeng li’an capsules high-dose group (P<0.05), and most of the above indexes were significantly reduced in Tongfeng li’an capsules medium-dose and low-dose groups (P<0.05); synovial hyperplasia of the ankle joint improved, and the infiltration of inflammatory cells 2019BS044) decreased. Results of in vitro experiment showed that Tongfeng li’an capsule could significantly reduce the levels of NO, ROS and IL-1β and protein expression of NF-κB(P<0.01), and inhibit NF- κB nucleation. CONCLUSIONS Tongfeng li’ancapsules have good anti-inflammatory effect on gouty arthritis, and its mechanism may be related to the inhibition of NF-κB signaling pathway activity.

Objective To investigate the expression level of neutrophil extracellular traps (NET) in the peripheral blood and liver tissue of primary biliary cholangitis (PBC) patients and its correlation with clinical biochemical parameters. Methods A total of 24 PBC patients who were admitted to Renji Hospital, Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine, from August 2016 to August 2020 were enrolled, as well as 8 patients with primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC) and 19 patients with autoimmune hepatitis (AIH) matched for age, and 19 healthy individuals were enrolled as healthy control group (HC group). The serum level of myeloperoxidase (MPO) was measured, and its correlation with clinical indices were analyzed. Immunofluorescence assay was used to measure the expression of NET in the liver of PBC patients, and an in vitro experiment was to compare the ability of peripheral blood neutrophils to produce NET between PBC patients and healthy controls. Normally distributed continuous data were expressed as mean±standard deviation, and the independent samples t -test was used for comparison between two groups; for the non-normally distributed continuous data expressed as M ( P 25 - P 75 ), the Kruskal-Wallis H test was used for comparison between multiple groups, and the Mann-Whitney U test was used for comparison between two groups. A correlation analysis was performed for MPO level and liver-related laboratory markers, and the Spearman's correlation coefficient was calculated. Results The serum level of MPO in the PBC group was increased to 811.21 (450.67-1 216.20) ng/mL, which was significantly higher than that in the AIH group [468.58 (142.63-812.43) ng/mL] and the HC group [357.54 (203.52-811.21) ng/mL] ( P < 0.05), suggesting that there was a significant increase in the production of NET in peripheral blood of PBC patients. The PSC patients had a serum MPO level of 763.56 (489.59-1 633.14) ng/mL, which was significantly higher than that in the HC group ( P < 0.05). MPO level was positively correlated with alkaline phosphatase ( r =0.500, P < 0.05), gamma-glutamyl transpeptidase ( r =0.426, P < 0.05), alanine aminotransferase ( r =0.521, P < 0.05), and aspartate aminotransferase ( r =0.547, P < 0.01). Confocal immunofluorescence showed colocalization of H3Cit and MPO in the liver of PBC patients. In vitro experiment showed that compared with the HC group, the PBC group had an increase in NET produced by peripheral blood neutrophils after in vitro stimulation and an increase in spontaneous production of NET. Conclusion There is an increase in NET in peripheral blood and liver of PBC patients, and the content of peripheral blood NET is positively correlated with biochemical parameters of liver function. NET may become a novel biomarker for assessing the severity of PBC.
