Objective: To examine the association of joint effect of overweight and obesity with dyslipidemia on left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH) in children, so as to provide scientific evidence for the prevention of early cardiovascular damage in children. Methods: Data were obtained from the second followup crosssectional survey of Huantai Childhood Cardiovascular Health Cohort study in 2021, comprising 1 047 children aged 10-15 years with complete information. Based on overweight and obesity status and dyslipidemia status, all participants were divided into four groups:normal weight with normal lipid levels, normal weight with dyslipidemia, overweight and obesity with normal lipid levels, and overweight and obesity with dyslipidemia. Left ventricular mass index (LVMI) levels and prevalence of LVH across four groups were compared. Multivariate Logistic regression model was used to examine the association of joint effect of overweight and obesity with dyslipidemia on LVH in children. Results: There were significant differences in LVMI levels [(28.66±7.10, 29.63±4.71,31.49±5.86,32.65±4.80)g/m2.7] and prevalence of LVH (4.28%, 12.50%, 22.74%, 31.30%) across four groups (F/χ2=50.76, 90.92, P<0.05). After adjustment for confounding variables such as gender,age,screen time,sleep duration,fruit and vegetable intake,carbonated beverage consumption,physical activity and elevated blood pressure, compared to children with both normal weight and normal lipid levels, the risk of LVH in children with dyslipidemia alone increased (OR=3.27, 95%CI=1.57-6.82，P<0.05). Children with overweight and obesity alone also had a significantly increased risk of LVH (OR=6.33, 95%CI=3.76-10.66), and the highest risk was observed in those with both overweight and obesity with dyslipidemia (OR=9.66, 95%CI=5.35-17.43) (P<0.05). Conclusions The joint effect of overweight and obesity with dyslipidemia is positively correlated with LVH in children. To prevent LVH in children, both overweight and obesity with dyslipidemia should be paid attention to.

Head and neck tumors are one of the major diseases that threaten human health. Targeted chemotherapy is an important treatment for head and neck tumors. However, many anti-cancer drugs are difficult to reach effective concentrations in tumors and can cause damage to normal tissues. Therefore, the efficient delivery of anti-tumor drugs, improvement of their therapeutic effects, and reduction of their adverse effects on the whole body and locally are urgent issues in targeted drug research. Liposomes have been widely studied due to their unique characteristics, including amphiphilicity, biocompatibility, biodegradability, and low toxicity. This article outlines the current applications and prospects of liposome drug delivery systems in different treatment modalities for head and neck tumors in recent years, aiming to provide more options for the treatment of head and neck tumors.

Adenomyosis is a common gynecological disease characterized by the invasion of endometrial glands and stroma into the myometrium of uterus, the pathological mechanism of which remains unclear yet. Disturbed lipid metabolism extensively affects abnormal cell proliferation and invasion in various diseases. However, the lipidome signature of human myometrium, which could be crucial in the development of adenomyosis, remains unknown. In this study, we generated the first lipidome profiling of human myometrium using a high-coverage and quantitative lipidomics approach based on ultra-performance liquid chromatography (UPLC) coupled with triple quadrupole (QqQ)-mass spectrometry (MS). A total of 317 lipid species were successfully quantified in the myometrial tissues from women with (n = 38) or without (n = 65) adenomyosis who underwent hysterectomy at Peking Union Medical College Hospital (Bejing, China). Up to 83 lipid species showed significant alternations in content between the two groups. These lipid aberrations involved multiple metabolic pathways, and emphasized inflammation, cell migration, and immune dysregulation upon adenomyosis. Moreover, receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analysis found that the combination of five lipid species could accurately distinguished the myometrial samples from women with and without adenomyosis with an area under the curve (AUC) of 0.906. Desorption electrospray ionization MS imaging (MSI) further underscored the heterogeneous distributions of these lipid markers in the adenomyosis lesion and adjacent myometrial tissue. Collectively, these results extremely improved our understanding on the molecular basis of adenomyosis, and could shed light on developing potential biomarkers and new therapeutic directions for adenomyosis.

OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to explore the association between body mass index (BMI) and mortality based on the 10-year population-based multicenter prospective study. METHODS: A general population-based multicenter prospective study was conducted at four sites in rural China between 2013 and 2023. Multivariate Cox proportional hazards models and restricted cubic spline analyses were used to assess the association between BMI and mortality. Stratified analyses were performed based on the individual characteristics of the participants. RESULTS: Overall, 19,107 participants with a sum of 163,095 person-years were included and 1,910 participants died. The underweight (< 18.5 kg/m ²) presented an increase in all-cause mortality (adjusted hazards ratio [ aHR] = 2.00, 95% confidence interval [ CI]: 1.66-2.41), while overweight (≥ 24.0 to < 28.0 kg/m ²) and obesity (≥ 28.0 kg/m ²) presented a decrease with an aHR of 0.61 (95% CI: 0.52-0.73) and 0.51 (95% CI: 0.37-0.70), respectively. Overweight ( aHR = 0.76, 95% CI: 0.67-0.86) and mild obesity ( aHR = 0.72, 95% CI: 0.59-0.87) had a positive impact on mortality in people older than 60 years. All-cause mortality decreased rapidly until reaching a BMI of 25.7 kg/m ² ( aHR = 0.95, 95% CI: 0.92-0.98) and increased slightly above that value, indicating a U-shaped association. The beneficial impact of being overweight on mortality was robust in most subgroups and sensitivity analyses. CONCLUSION This study provides additional evidence that overweight and mild obesity may be inversely related to the risk of death in individuals older than 60 years. Therefore, it is essential to consider age differences when formulating health and weight management strategies.

Objective To establish a stable,reliable,and clinically relevant porcine model of endotoxin-induced acute respiratory distress syndrome(ARDS).Methods Ten 8-month-old male Bama minipigs were deeply sedated,followed by invasive mechanical ventilation and electrocardiographic monitoring.Lipopolysaccharide(LPS)was intravenously pumped at 600 μg/(kg·h)for 3 hours,then maintained at 15 μg/(kg·h)thereafter.Dynamic monitoring was performed at five time points after LPS injection(LPS 0,1,3,5,and 8 h),including arterial blood gas analysis and chest computed tomography(CT)scans.Pathological examination of lung tissues obtained via bronchoscopic biopsy(HE staining and transmission electron microscopy)was conducted.These indicators were comprehensively used to evaluate the success of the animal model.Results At 5 hours after LPS administration,8 minipigs developed symptoms such as skin cyanosis,elevated body temperature,and respiratory distress.The oxygenation index decreased to<300 mmHg.Chest CT scans showed diffuse pulmonary infiltrates.Histopathology revealed alveolar edema and hyaline membrane formation.Transmission electron microscopy demonstrated disruption of pulmonary blood-air barrier,depletion of lamellar bodies in type Ⅱ pneumocytes,inflammatory cell infiltration,and exudation of plasma proteins and fibrin.Compared with LPS 0 h,at LPS 8 h,the oxygenation index and arterial blood pH were significantly decreased(P<0.001),while blood lactic acid and serum potassium were significantly increased(P<0.05);serum calcium and base excess were significantly decreased(P<0.05),and the lung injury score based on HE-stained lung sections was significantly increased(P<0.01).Conclusion The porcine ARDS model established by continuous LPS injection can dynamically simulate the pathophysiological characteristics and typical pathological manifestations of clinical septic ARDS,making it an effective tool to study the pathogenesis,prevention,and treatment strategies of septic ARDS.

Objective To explore the medication law of TCM external treatment for chronic kidney disease-associated pruritus(CKD-aP)by data mining technology.Methods Literature of TCM external treatment for CKD-aP was retrieved from China Knowledge Network(CNKI),VIP Chinese Journal Service Platform(VIP),Wanfang Data Knowledge Service Platform(Wanfang Data),and China Biology Medicine(CBM)since the establishment of the databases to March 31,2023.After screening according to the inclusion criteria,the final inclusion in the literature was determined,effective prescriptions were extracted,and entered into Excel 2019 to establish a prescription database.Excel 2019,SPSS Modeler 18.0,Origin 2021,and Gephi 0.10 softwares were used to perform frequency statistics,gender and taste meridian statistics,association rule analysis,and clustering analysis on prescription drugs.Results Totally 103 effective prescriptions were included,involving 133 kind of Chinese materia medica,with a total frequency of 978 times and 28 drugs with frequency≥10.The top 10 drugs were Dictamni Cortex,Kochiae Fructus,Sophorae Flavescentis Radix,Angelicae Sinensis Radix,Cnidii Fructus,Rhei Radix et Rhizoma,Chuanxiaong Rhizoma,Smilacis Glabrae Rhizoma,Saposheikovize Radix and Schizonepetae Herba,with cold and warm as the main properties,bitter,pungent,and as the main sweet tastes,and liver,heart,stomach,and spleen meridians as the main meridians.The association rule analysis yielded 34 groups of commonly used drug pairs.Clustering analysis obtained 4 clusters of prescriptions.Conclusion TCM external treatment for CKD-aP is mostly based on draining wind and clearing heat,drying dampness and relieving itching,nourishing blood and dispelling wind.The commonly used drugs are Dictamni Cortex,Kochiae Fructus,Sophorae Flavescentis Radix,and Angelicae Sinensis Radix,and the commonly used prescriptions include modified Shechuangzi Powder,Danggui Yinzi Decoction,Mahuang Guizhi Decoction and Xijiao Dihuang Decoction.

ObjectiveThis study aimed to identify a potential miRNA-mRNA axis in neurofibromatosis type 2 (NF2)-negative meningiomas, investigate their target relationships, and determine their biological functions. MethodsThe GSE17792 dataset, which contains data related to NF2-negative meningiomas, was downloaded from the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) database. The limma package of R software was used to determine the differentially expressed miRNAs (DeMiRNAs). The miRWalk 2.0 database was applied to obtain the target genes of DeMiRNAs. The Search Tool for the Retrieval of Interacting Genes (STRING) database was utilized to build protein-protein interaction (PPI) networks, and hub genes were identified via Cytoscape software. The expression and biological roles of the screened miRNAs were further validated. ResultsAltogether, 86 DeMiRNAs, consisting of 52 upregulated and 34 downregulated miRNAs, were found in NF2-negative meningioma tumor samples compared with arachnoid tissue controls. Fourteen miRNAs associated with 274 target genes were identified among these DeMiRNAs, and miRNA-target gene networks were constructed based on these data. Analysis with cytoHubba showed that two miRNAs (hsa-miR-650 and hsa-miR-623) were among the top 20 key hub genes in the PPI network. Further qRT-PCR experimental verification suggested that the expression of hsa-miR-650 was significantly higher in NF2-negative meningiomas than in normal brain tissues. Downregulation of hsa-miR-650 inhibited the proliferation and induced the apoptosis of NF2-negative meningioma cells. Finally, RAC1 was identified as a target of hsa-miR-650. ConclusionHsa-miR-650 acts as a tumor promoter and might function as a therapeutic target for patients with NF2-negative meningiomas.

Objective To observe the clinical efficacy of thumb-tack needling for subcutaeous embedding combined with joint mobilization in the treatment of post-stroke shoulder-hand syndrome.Methods A total of 80 patients with post-stroke shoulder-hand syndrome were randomly divided into a treatment group and a control group,with 40 patients in each group.Both groups were given arthrocentesis,the control group was given ordinary acupuncture on the basis of arthrocentesis,and the treatment group was combined with thumb-tack needling for subcutaeous embedding.One course of treatment was 4 weeks and a total of 4 weeks of treatment was given.After 1 month of treatment,the clinical efficacy of the two groups was evaluated.The changes of Visual Analogue Scale(VAS)of pain scores and simplified Fugl-Meyer Assessment(FMA)scores,as well as the pain-free passive forward flexion and abduction of the shoulder joint of the affected limb were observed before and after treatment.The Simple Quality of Life Scale(SF-36)scores of the patients in the two groups were compared after treatment.The safety and the occurrence of adverse reactions in the two groups were also evaluated.Results(1)The total effective rate was 95.00%(38/40)in the treatment group and 80.00%(32/40)in the control group.The efficacy of the treatment group was superior to that of the control group,and the difference was statistically significant(P＜0.05).(2)After treatment,the VAS scores and upper extremity FMA scores of the patients in the two groups were significantly improved(P＜0.05),and the treatment group was significantly superior to the control group in improving the VAS scores and upper extremity FMA scores,and the differences were statistically significant(P＜0.05).(3)After treatment,the joint mobility of patients in the two groups were significantly improved(P＜0.05),and the improvement of shoulder joint movement in the treatment group was superior to that in the control group,and the difference was statistically significant(P＜0.05).(4)After treatment,the SF-36 Quality of Life Scale scores of the treatment group were significantly superior to those of the control group in terms of physical function,psychological function,emotional health,and social function levels,and the difference was statistically significant(P＜0.05).(5)There was no significant difference in the incidence of adverse reactions between the treatment group and the control group(P＞0.05).Conclusion Thumb-tack needling for subcutaeous embedding combined with joint mobilization exert certain effect in the treatment of post-stroke shoulder-hand syndrome.It can significantly improve the pain symptoms of patients,thus improving their quality of life,and the clinical effect is remarkable.

Objective Analyze the implementation effects of the specialized disease management policy(hereinafter re-ferred to as the policy)to provide reference for strengthening operational management and enhancing the integration of business and finance in public hospitals.Methods Patient information of inpatients from a large comprehensive tertiary hospital from Jan-uary 2022 to June 2023 was collected.Four out of ten single diseases focused on by the national tertiary public hospital perform-ance assessment were included in the study group for specialized disease management,while the remaining six were used as the control group.A difference-in-differences model was adopted to analyze the changes in relevant indicators such as per capita inpa-tient expenses,average length of stay,per capita drug expenses,per capita consumable expenses,and per capita examination and treatment expenses before and after the policy implementation.Additionally,the effects of policy implementation were further analyzed based on different medical insurance types.Results A total of 22 457 patients were included,with 5 879 patients in the study group(3 164 cases before policy implementation and 2 715 cases after policy implementation),and 19 741 patients in the control group.The difference-in-differences model analysis showed that after the policy implementation,per capita inpatient expenses for specialized disease management patients decreased by 32.7％,average length of stay decreased by 31.4％,drug ex-penses decreased by 49.5％,consumable expenses decreased by 24.2％,and examination and treatment expenses decreased by 29.2％.Moreover,compared to patients under non-Wuhan medical insurance,patients under Wuhan medical insurance experi-enced a greater reduction in related indicators.Conclusion The implementation of the policy effectively reduces the burden on patients seeking medical care,improves medical treatment efficiency,contributes to hospital refined management methods,deep-ens the integration of business and finance,and facilitates the transition towards leaner operations.
