Through collecting the existing clinical evidences on acupuncture and moxibustion for urticaria, the distribution of evidence in this field was mapped. A systematic search of Chinese and English literature was conducted in CNKI, Wanfang, VIP, SinoMed, PubMed, EMbase, and Cochrane Library for treatment of urticaria with acupuncture and moxibustion, published up to December 31, 2023 since inception of each database. The research status in this field was summarized using an evidence mapping approach, and methodological quality was assessed. A total of 323 randomized controlled trials (RCTs) and 22 systematic reviews were included. The number of studies on acupuncture and moxibustion for urticaria has been increasing, with a significant rise in recent years. In most RCTs, the study scale was small, and the subjects focused on chronic spontaneous urticaria in adolescents and middle-aged adults, aged 14 to 60 years. Regarding the intervention measures, the single therapy of acupuncture and moxibustion was predominant such as acupoint injection, acupoint embedding thread, and filiform needling. In acupuncture with filiform needles, the commonly used acupoints were Quchi (LI11), Xuehai (SP10), Sanyinjiao (SP6), Zusanli (ST36) and Hegu (LI4). The main outcome measures referred to effectiveness rate, score of disease severity, recurrence rate, laboratory indexes, and score of quality of life; and the short-term effect was evaluated specifically. The overall methodological quality of the included studies was relatively low. It is suggested that the future research should focus on large-scale, multi-center, high-quality clinical trials, optimize the protocols for acupuncture and moxibustion intervention, standardize the outcomes, and draw the attention to the evaluation of long-term efficacy, so as to provide clinical evidences of high certainty for urticaria treated with acupuncture and moxibustion.

OBJECTIVE: To reveal the gap between the evidence of systematic reviews (SRs) and clinical concerns by systematically summarizing the evidence on acupuncture and moxibustion for frozen shoulder and investigating the concerns and needs of clinicians in treatment with acupuncture and moxibustion for this disease. METHODS: The articles of SR and Meta-analysis on acupuncture and moxibustion for frozen shoulder were searched from CNKI, Wanfang, VIP, SinoMed, PubMed, EMbase and Cochrane Library, starting from the inception of each database up to December 31st, 2022. Two researchers screened the articles and extracted data independently. Using AMSTAR-2, the methodological quality of the included studies was evaluated. Based on systematic reviews and expert discussion, a questionnaire on clinical concerns of acupuncture and moxibustion for frozen shoulder was developed and distributed to clinicians. The discrepancies between the evidence and clinical concerns were compared from 5 dimensions, including population, interventions, control measures, outcome indicators and review time points. RESULTS: The evidence gaps existed between SRs and clinical concerns. In the existing studies, the needs of personalized treatment were not fully considered in terms of different syndromes/patterns of frozen shoulder and stages of illness, the outcome indicators were not employed properly, the time for outcome measurement was vague, the control groups were set up outside of standardization, and the methodological quality was lower. CONCLUSION It is suggested that future studies should improve the quality of methodology, lay more consideration to different patient groups, optimize outcome indicators and standardize the setting of control groups, so as to better meet the needs of patients and achieve the best match between evidence and clinicians' needs.

To improve the quality evaluation system of Hibisci Mutabilis Folium, this study established high performance liquid chromatography(HPLC) fingerprints of Hibisci Mutabilis Folium and evaluated the quality differences of medicinal materials from different places of production by chemometrics. Furthermore, a content measurement method of differential components was established based on quantitative analysis of multi-components by single-marker(QAMS). The fingerprints of 17 batches of Hibisci Mutabilis Folium from different places of production were constructed, with a total of 19 common peaks marked and seven components confirmed. The similarity between the sample fingerprints and the reference fingerprints ranged from 0.890 to 0.974. By utilizing principal component analysis(PCA), hierarchical cluster analysis(HCA), and orthogonal partial least squares-discriminant analysis(OPLS-DA), the chemical patterns of fingerprints were identified. Five components that could be used to evaluate the quality differences of Hibisci Mutabilis Folium were screened, namely peak 6(quercetin 3-O-β-robinobioside), peak 7(rutin), peak 9(kaempferol-3-O-β-robinobioside), peak 10(kaempferol-3-O-rutinoside), and peak 14(tiliroside). The relative correction factors of isoquercitrin, kaempferol-3-O-β-robinobioside, kaempferol-3-O-rutinoside, kaempferol-3-O-β-D-glucoside, and tiliroside were measured with rutin as the internal reference. The QAMS method was established for the content measurement of six flavonoids, and the results showed there was no significant difference compared to the results obtained by an external standard method. In summary, the HPLC fingerprints and QAMS method established in the study, demonstrating stability and accuracy, can provide a reference for the overall quality evaluation of Hibisci Mutabilis Folium.

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the clinical efficacy of lengthened proximal femoral nail antirotation (PFNA) and InterTan in the treatment of subtrochanteric femur fractures in the elderly. METHODS: A retrospective analysis was performed on the data of 65 elderly patients diagnosed with subtrochanteric femoral fractures who met the inclusion criteria between October 2016 and January 2022. The enrolled patients were categorized into two groups according to the type of internal fixation used: the lengthened proximal femoral nail antirotation(PFNA) group and the InterTan group. There were 32 patients in the PFNA group, comprising 20 males and 12 females, with ages ranging from 60 to 85 years old with an average of (69.3±6.7 ) years old. Among these patients, 15 patients resulted from traffic accidents and 17 patients were caused by falls. According to the Seinsheimer classification system, there were 11 patients as type Ⅱ, 14 patients as type Ⅲ, 6 patients as type Ⅳ, and 1 patient as type Ⅴ. The InterTan group comprised 33 patients, including 20 males and 13 females, aged from 60 to 85 years old with an average of (69.8±7.8 ) years old. Of these, 15 patients resulted from traffic accidents, while 18 patients were caused by falls. According to the Seinsheimer classification system, 10 patients as type Ⅱ, 15 patients as type Ⅲ, 7 patients as type Ⅳ, and 1 patient as type Ⅴ. The intraoperative blood loss, operative duration, and fracture healing time were recorded and compared between two groups. The quality of fracture reduction was assessed using Chang's criteria. Additionally, the Harris hip score was utilized to evaluate hip function in both groups at 3 months postoperatively and at the final follow-up. RESULTS: All patients were followed up for a period ranging from 10 to 20 months with an average of (14.6±4.5) months. No statistically significant differences were observed between two groups in terms of operation time, intraoperative blood loss, quality of fracture reduction, or reduction methods (P>0.05). Three months after the surgery, the Harris hip score in the InterTan group was 80.0(78.0, 83.5) points, which was significantly higher than that in the PFNA group, which recorded a score of 77.5(75.0, 81.8) points. This difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). At the final follow-up, the Harris hip score in the InterTan group was 80.0(76.5, 87.0), while that in the PFNA group was 78.0(74.3, 82.8). No statistically significant difference was observed between two groups (P>0.05). CONCLUSION The use of lengthened PFNA and InterTan in the treatment of elderly subtrochanteric femur fractures can both achieve good treatment results, with the advantages of simple operation, firm fixation, and low failure rate of internal fixation. The lengthened InterTan can achieve better hip function than PFNA.

PURPOSE: To judge the injury mode and injury severity of the real human body through the measured values of anthropomorphic test devices (ATD) injury indices, the mapping relationship of lumbar injury between ATD and human body model (HBM) was explored. METHODS: Through the ATD model and HBM simulation, the mapping relationship of lumbar injury between the 2 subjects was explored. The sled environment consisted of a semi-rigid seat with an adjustable seatback angle and a 3-point seat belt system with a seatback-mounted D-ring. Three seatback recline states of 25°, 45°, and 65° were designed, and the seat pan angle was maintained at 15°. A 23 g, 47 km/h pulse was used. The validity of the finite element model of the sled was verified by the comparison of ATD simulation and test results. ATD model was the test device for human occupant restraint for autonomous vehicles (THOR-AV) dummy model and HBM was the total human model for safety (THUMS) v6.1. The posture of the 2 models was adjusted to adapt to the 3 seat states. The lumbar response of THOR-AV and the mechanical and biomechanical data on L1 - L5 vertebrae of THUMS were output, and the response relationship between THOR-AV and THUMS was descriptive statistically analyzed. RESULTS: Both THOR-AV and THUMS were submarined in the 65° seatback angle case. With the change of seatback angle, the lumbar spine axial compression force (F_z) of THOR-AV and THUMS changed in the similar trend. The maximum F_z ratio of THOR-AV to THUMS at 25° and 45° seatback angle cases were 1.6 and 1.7. The flexion moment (M_y) and the time when the maximum M_y occurred in the 2 subjects were very different. In particular, the form of moment experienced by the L1 - L5 vertebrae of THUMS also changed. The changing trend of M_y measured by THOR-AV over time can reflect the changing trend of maximum stress of L1 and L2 of THUMS. CONCLUSION The F_z of ATD and HBM presents a certain proportional relationship, and there is a mapping relationship between the 2 subjects on F_z. The mapping function can be further clarified by applying more pulses and adopting more seatback angles. It is difficult to map M_y directly because they are very different in ATD and HBM. The M_y of ATD and stress of HBM lumbar showed a similar change trend over time, and there may be a hidden mapping relationship.

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the efficacy and safety of a hospital-made resuscitation pack, a Chinese medicinal herbal compound formula designed to enhance recovery in post-bronchoscopy patients. METHODS: In this randomized, single-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial, eligible patients were randomly assigned 1:1 to either the treatment or control groups. The patients in the treatment group applied the resuscitation pack, which contained aromatic compounded Chinese herbs. The patients in the control group applied a hospital-made, single herb placebo pack. Packs were placed on the Tiantu (CV 22) acupuncture point for 4 h as soon as the bronchoscopy finished. Efficacy indicators, such as recovery time, patients' symptoms including nausea and dizziness, and adverse events (AEs) were observed and compared. The outcome indices were evaluated at baseline, 1 and 24 h after the bronchoscopy. Subgroup analysis was further performed by patients' age and depth of sedation. RESULTS: When applying generalized estimating equations (GEE) to evaluate the intensity of post-bronchoscopy nausea and vomiting, the intensity was lower in the treatment group (163 cases) compared with the control group (162 cases; 95% CI: 0.004, 0.099, P=0.03]. Also, significantly lower intensity of nausea was observed in the 60-70 years of age subgroup (95% CI: 0.029, 0.169, P=0.006) and deep sedation subgroup (95% CI: 0.002, 0.124; P=0.04). There was no significant difference in dizziness between two groups by GEE (95% CI: -0.134, 0.297; P=0.459). In addition, no serious AEs were observed in either group. CONCLUSIONS Our study found that the resuscitation pack markedly improved patients' symptoms by reducing nausea and vomiting after bronchoscopy without AEs, compared with placebo in the perioperative period. BACKGROUND: Modern acupuncture anesthesia is a combination of Chinese and Western medicine that integrates the theories of acupuncture with anesthesia. However, some clinical studies of acupuncture anesthesia lack specific descriptions of randomization, allocation concealment, and blinding processes, with subsequent systematic reviews indicating a risk of bias. OBJECTIVE: Clinical trial registration is essential for the enhancement of the quality of clinical trials. This study aims to summarize the status of clinical trial registrations for acupuncture anesthesia listed on the World Health Organization International Clinical Trials Registry Platform (ICTRP). SEARCH STRATEGY: We searched the ICTRP for clinical trials related to acupuncture anesthesia registered between January 1, 2001 and May 31, 2023. Additionally, related publications were retrieved from PubMed, Cochrane Library, Embase, China National Knowledge Infrastructure, China Science and Technology Journal Database, and Wanfang Data. Registrations and publications were analyzed for consistency in trial design characteristics. INCLUSION CRITERIA: Clinical trials that utilized one of several acupuncture-related therapies in combination with pharmacological anesthesia during the perioperative period were eligible for this review. DATA EXTRACTION AND ANALYSIS: Data extracted from articles included type of surgical procedure, perioperative symptoms, study methodology, type of intervention, trial recruitment information, and publication information related to clinical enrollment. RESULTS: A total of 166 trials related to acupuncture anesthesia from 21 countries were included in the analysis. The commonly reported symptoms in the included studies were postoperative nausea and vomiting (19.9%) and postoperative pain (13.3%). The concordance between the publications and the trial protocols in the clinical registry records was poor, with only 31.7% of the studies being fully compatible. Inconsistency rates were high for sample size (39.0%, 16/41), blinding (36.6%, 15/41), and secondary outcome indicators (24.4%, 10/41). CONCLUSION The volume of acupuncture anesthesia clinical trials registered in international trial registries over the last 20 years is low, with insufficient disclosure of results. Postoperative nausea and vomiting as well as postoperative pain, are the most investigated for acupuncture intervention. Objective:To develop a treatment-related quality of life scale for Chinese patients with multiple myeloma (MM) and to test its reliability and validity.Methods:The initial scale was constructed through a literature search, Delphi expert correspondence, and cognitive testing. This study conducted a preliminary survey of 379 patients with MM and a formal survey of 865 patients from the hematology departments of 155 hospitals nationwide from February 2024 to March 2024. The final scale was obtained after conducting item analysis and reliability and validity tests on the initial scale.Results:The constructed scale contains 36 items covering six domains: physiological, psychological, social, treatment side effects, general health, and others. In the preliminary survey, the Cronbach’s alpha coefficient of each item ranged from 0.597 to 0.939, and the test-retest reliability was 0.747 ( P<0.001). Exploratory factor analysis extracted eight common factors with a cumulative variance contribution of 60.058%. In the formal survey, the Cronbach’s alpha coefficient of each item ranged from 0.484 to 0.930, and the test-retest reliability was 0.835 ( P<0.001). Confirmatory factor analysis revealed a comparative fit index of 0.750, a root-mean-square error of approximation of 0.090, and a root-mean-square residual of 0.067. Conclusion:The treatment-related quality of life scale for Chinese patients with MM designed in this study exhibited good reliability and validity, reflecting the impact of treatment on the quality of life of patients. This scale can provide a reference to clinicians for assessing the disease status of patients.

Objective:To investigate the factors influencing left atrial fibrosis in patients with atrial fibrillation(AF)and the association of Periostin protein,serum transforming growth factor-β2(TGF-β2)with left atrial fibrosis.Methods:We enrolled 100 AF patients admitted to Gansu Provincial People's Hospital between March 2021 and March 2023.They were divided into control group(＜10％,n=53)and fibrosis group(≥10％,n=47)according to their left atrial low voltage region.Univariate and multivariate Logistic regression were used to analyze the influ-encing factors of left atrial fibrosis in AF patients and construct a nomogram model.The diagnostic value of related factors and their combined detection for left atrial fibrosis in AF patients were analyzed by receiver operating char-acteristic curve(ROC).Spearman correlation analysis was used to analyze the association of Periostin protein,TGF-β2 with left atrial fibrosis in AF patients.Results:Compared to patients in the control group,those in the fibrosis group had significant higher left atrial diameter(LAD)[(37.08±3.19)mm vs.(33.45±2.45)mm],levels of ser-um uric acid(SUA)[(313.75±49.06)μmol/L vs.(279.88±38.15)μmol/L],Periostin protein[(83.27±3.98)ng/L vs.(75.21±3.04)ng/L],TGF-β2[(4346.84±321.34)ng/L vs.(4186.02±306.91)ng/L],and signifi-cant lower left atrial ejection fraction(LVEF)[(62.28±5.00)％vs.(67.24±3.07)％](P＜0.05 or＜0.01).Multivariate Logistic regression analysis showed that LAD(OR=1.663,95％CI 1.238～3.887,P=0.001),SUA(OR=1.586,95％CI 1.164～2.892,P＜0.001),Periostin protein(OR=1.997,95％CI 1.513～4.585,P=0.001),TGF-β2(OR=2.013,95％CI 1.543～5.864,P＜0.001)were independent risk factors for left atrial fi-brosis in AF patients,while LVEF was an independent protective factor(OR=0.524,95％CI 0.141～0.920,P=0.002).The nomogram model for left atrial fibrosis in AF patients:logit(P)=4.631+0.445 × LVEF+0.546 × LAD+0.575 × SUA+0.530 × Periostin protein+0.347 × TGF-β2.ROC curve showed that the area under the curve(AUC)of combined detection(0.893,95％CI 0.842～0.932)was significantly higher than SUA(AUC=0.637,95％CI 0.566～0.704),LVEF(AUC=0.701,95％CI 0.632～0.763),LAD(AUC=0.649,95％CI 0.579～0.715),Periostin protein(AUC=0.676,95％CI 0.606～0.740),TGF-β2(AUC=0.641,95％CI 0.570～0.707)alone(Z=5.265,6.399,6.379,6.040,6.483,P＜0.001 all).Spearman correlation analysis showed that Perios-tin protein and TGF-β2 were significantly positive correlated with left atrial fibrosis in AF patients(r=0.536,0.578,P＜0.001 all).Conclusion:Periostin protein and TGF-β2 were independent risk factors for left atrial fi-brosis in AF patients and were significantly positive correlated with it,a combination of above-mentioned indexes,cardiac function indexes and uric acid had good diagnostic value for left atrial fibrosis.

Objective:To investigate whether the rs612529 C/T and rs11669663 G/A in VSTM1 gene are associated with leukocyte signaling inhibitory receptor-1(SIRL-1)expression and an increased risk for systemic lupus erythematosus(SLE)in a Han Chinese cohort.Methods:A total of 200 patients with SLE and 218 healthy controls(HC)were enrolled.Relevant laboratory characteris-tics of patients with SLE were also collected.Genotyping of rs612529 C/T and rs11669663 G/A were performed by Sanger sequencing technology.SIRL-1 expression was assessed in peripheral blood neutrophils and monocytes was detected by flow cytometry.Levels of autoantibodies associated with SLE were detected by ELISA.Results:In both SLE group and HC,the C allele of rs612529 was asso-ciated with a decreased expression level of SIRL-1 on monocytes,with a gradual increased in SIRL-1 protein level from the CC over the CT to the TT genotype.C allele of rs612529 was associated with higher serum anti-dsDNA antibody titers in patients with SLE(P<0.05).In the case of rs11669663 G/A,no significant association of genotypes with SLE susceptibility was detected.Conclusion:VSTM1 rs612529 C/T may contribute to SLE disease activity and regulate SIRL-1 expression on monocytes in the Han Chinese cohort.
