Background:
and Purpose Symptomatic intracranial hemorrhage (sICH) following endovascular thrombectomy (EVT) is a severe complication associated with adverse functional outcomes and increased mortality rates. Currently, a reliable predictive model for sICH risk after EVT is lacking.
Methods:
This study used data from patients aged ≥20 years who underwent EVT for anterior circulation stroke from the nationwide Taiwan Registry of Endovascular Thrombectomy for Acute Ischemic Stroke (TREAT-AIS). A predictive model including factors associated with an increased risk of sICH after EVT was developed to differentiate between patients with and without sICH. This model was compared existing predictive models using nationwide registry data to evaluate its relative performance.
Results:
Of the 2,507 identified patients, 158 developed sICH after EVT. Factors such as diastolic blood pressure, Alberta Stroke Program Early CT Score, platelet count, glucose level, collateral score, and successful reperfusion were associated with the risk of sICH after EVT. The TREAT-AIS score demonstrated acceptable predictive accuracy (area under the curve [AUC]=0.694), with higher scores being associated with an increased risk of sICH (odds ratio=2.01 per score increase, 95% confidence interval=1.64–2.45, P<0.001). The discriminatory capacity of the score was similar in patients with symptom onset beyond 6 hours (AUC=0.705). Compared to existing models, the TREAT-AIS score consistently exhibited superior predictive accuracy, although this difference was marginal.
Conclusions
The TREAT-AIS score outperformed existing models, and demonstrated an acceptable discriminatory capacity for distinguishing patients according to sICH risk levels. However, the differences between models were only marginal. Further research incorporating periprocedural and postprocedural factors is required to improve the predictive accuracy.

Objective To investigate the association between extensive perivascular space(EPVS)burden in different locations and ischemic stroke(IS),its subtypes, and transient ischemic attack(TIA)through Mendelian randomization(MR)analysis. Methods The summary data from large-scale Genome-wide Association Studies(GWAS)and various MR methods were employed. We applied multivariable MR to mitigate potential confounding factors and conduct sensitivity analyses to enhance result robustness.Subsequently,meta-analysis was utilized to integrate causal relationships between EPVS burden in different locations and IS from various sources.Additionally, reverse MR was employed to observe the impact of various IS types on EPVS burden. Finally, linkage disequilibrium score regression was conducted to assess genetic correlations between exposures and outcomes. Results EPVS burden in both the white matter(OR=1.12,95%CI:1.01-1.25;P=0.04)and basal ganglia(OR=1.57,95%CI:1.30-1.89;P<0.01)are significant risk factors for IS.EPVS burden in the basal ganglia is also a risk for IS(small-vessel)(OR=4.56,95%CI:2.57-8.27;P=5.95× 10-7).After IS and TIA there seems to be a potential increase in extensive basal ganglia perivascular space burden. Conclusions Extensive white matter perivascular space burden and extensive basal ganglia perivascular space burden may serve as important indicators to predict IS.

Objective:To compare the infection status of severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome (SFTS) between the non-endemic area (Yixian county, Huangshan city) and the endemic area (Qianshan city, Anqing city) in Anhui province, and to explore the possibility of Yixian county being a natural focus of SFTS, thereby providing a scientific basis for the formulation of prevention and control strategies. Methods:In Xidi town, Yixian county, and Shuihou town, Qianshan city, one administrative village with the highest number of reported cases in the past three years was selected as the study village in each area, along with one control village with no reported cases. The study investigated the total antibody positivity rates of SFTS virus (SFTSV) in natural populations and host animals, as well as the density and virus-carrying rate of the vector ticks. Differences in total antibody positivity rates between the two regions were compared. Results:The total SFTSV antibody positivity rates in the natural population and host animals in the surveyed villages (control villages) of Qianshan city and Yi county were 8.7% and 8.0% (3.3%, 4.1%) and 0.0%, 9.1% (50.0%, 66.7%), respectively. There was no statistically significant difference in the infection rates of the natural population and host animals between the surveyed villages (control villages) in different endemic regions (all P>0.05). In the surveyed villages of Qianshan city and Yi county, the free-living tick densities were 1.4 ticks/hour per flag and 1.7 ticks/hour per flag, respectively; the parasitic tick densities were 0.4 ticks/host and 2.5 ticks/host, respectively; the tick infestation rates were 33.3% and 35.3%, respectively; and the tick density indices were 1.3 ticks/host and 7.2 ticks/host, respectively. Conclusions:The natural populations and host animals in some areas of Yixian county exhibit high SFTSV infection rates, and the tick density is also high, suggesting that the region may have become a natural focus of SFTS. Therefore, it is necessary to further strengthen capabilities in surveillance, diagnosis, and clinical treatment to address the potential risk of SFTS outbreaks.

Alzheimer disease(AD)is a neurological disease characterized by cognitive decline.AD continuum refers to the dynamic development progression from early pathological changes to obvious clinical symptoms, covering the continuous spectrum of subjective cognition decline(SCD)stage, mild cognitive impairment(MCI)stage and dementia stage. As one of the key brain regions involved in early stage, hippocampus(HP)in AD continuum is closely related to the progression of disease.MRI has been widely used in the study of HP in the AD continuum. The progresses in structural and functional MRI research of HP changes in AD continuum were reviewed in this article.

Experimental teaching is an important component of the course Medical Immunology, which requires the use of experimental animals and the execution of experimental animals by medical students.By applying the carbon dioxide euthanasia system,it can effectively reduce the pain of experimental animals, ensure their welfare, and meet ethical requirements. It can also improve the efficiency of experimental teaching in Medical Immunology, reduce environmental pollution, and promote medical students to estab-lish scientific values and worldviews that pay attention to experimental animals and respect life, which is conducive to becoming future medical service talents. In the experimental teaching of Medical Immunology, the appropriate application of carbon dioxide euthanasia system combined with effective ideological and political construction of the curriculum can further implement the Party's educational policy of cultivating morality and talents, and lay a good foundation for cultivating medical talents with comprehensive knowledge, high skills and excellent quality.

Objective To explore the imaging findings of atypical teratoid/rhabdoid tumor(AT/RT)in the central nervous sys-tem of children and to improve the understanding of this disease. Methods A retrospective analysis was conducted on the imaging data of 55 children with AT/RT confirmed by pathology. Results Among the 55 AT/RT children,74.5%were under 3 years old, with a male-to-female ratio of 1.5∶1.Intracranial AT/RT appeared hyperdense or slightly hyperdense on CT scans and accompa-nied by calcification or hemorrhage occasionally.32 cases showed peripheral cystic changes in MRI images.38 cases showed heteroge-neous enhancement,9 cases showed ring-like or band-like enhancement.13 cases showed cerebrospinal fluid dissemination. The mean minimum apparent diffusion coefficient(ADC)value was(0.61±0.11)× 10-3mm2/s.Spinal AT/RT manifested as solitary or mul-tiple intramedullary and/or extradural lesions on MRI,which showed unclear boundary from the spinal cord.Hemorrhage within or at the edge of the lesion was seen in 2 cases, involvement of nerve roots and adjacent muscle tissues in 3 cases, and cerebrospinal fluid dissemination of the intracranial and spinal cord at varying degrees in 5 cases. Conclusion The imaging findings of pediatric AT/RT in the central nervous system are diverse, combining imaging characteristics with age of onset facilitates the accurate diagnosis.
