Objective To systematically evaluate the efficacy and safety of video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS) with different numbers of ports in the treatment of spontaneous pneumothorax. Methods We conducted a comprehensive search of CNKI, PubMed, The Cochrane Library, Web of Science, EMbase, Wanfang Data, and the Chinese Medical Journal Full-text Database for clinical controlled trials on VATS with different port numbers for spontaneous pneumothorax, from their inception to March 2023. Two researchers independently screened the literature and assessed its quality. The Newcastle-Ottawa Scale (NOS) was used to assess the methodological quality of cohort and case-control studies, and the Cochrane risk-of-bias tool was used to evaluate randomized controlled trials (RCT). Meta-analysis was performed using RevMan 5.4.1 software. Results A total of 107 studies were included, comprising 35 RCT, 2 cohort studies, and 70 case-control studies. All cohort and case-control studies included in the analysis had NOS scores≥7. The meta-analysis revealed that compared to two-port VATS (2P-VATS) and three-port VATS (3P-VATS), single-port thoracoscopic surgery (SPTS) was associated with less intraoperative blood loss (SMD=–1.58, 95%CI: –1.93 to –1.22, P<0.001; and SMD=–1.59, 95%CI: –2.03 to –1.14, P<0.001, respectively), shorter postoperative hospital stay (SMD=–1.05, 95%CI: –1.29 to –0.82, P<0.001; and SMD=–1.08, 95%CI: –1.39 to –0.77, P<0.001), shorter duration of postoperative chest tube drainage (SMD=–0.75, 95%CI: –1.00 to –0.50, P<0.001; and SMD=–1.23, 95%CI: –1.72 to –0.75, P<0.001), fewer postoperative complications (OR=0.34, 95%CI: 0.26 to 0.45, P<0.001; and OR=0.47, 95%CI: 0.33 to 0.68, P<0.001), and lower pain scores at 24, 48, and 72 hours after surgery (P<0.05). The operative time for SPTS was shorter than that for 2P-VATS (SMD=–0.53, 95%CI: –0.90 to –0.16, P=0.005) but showed no significant difference compared to 3P-VATS (P=0.21). When comparing 2P-VATS with 3P-VATS, 2P-VATS demonstrated less intraoperative blood loss (SMD=–1.02, 95%CI: –1.81 to –0.22, P=0.01), shorter postoperative hospital stay (SMD=–0.59, 95%CI: –1.11 to –0.06, P=0.03), shorter duration of chest tube drainage (SMD=–0.46, 95%CI: –0.85 to –0.08, P=0.02), fewer postoperative complications (OR=0.36, 95%CI: 0.22 to 0.59, P<0.001), and lower pain scores at 24, 48, and 72 hours after surgery (P≤0.05). Conclusion Both SPTS and 2P-VATS are effective and safe surgical options for spontaneous pneumothorax, deserving further promotion and application in clinical practice. However, due to limitations in the quantity and quality of the included studies, more large-sample, high-quality research is needed to validate these findings.

Objective To systematically evaluate the efficacy of immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) in treating esophageal cancer patients of different genders. Methods Computer searches were conducted on PubMed, Cochrane Library, and Embase databases to collect randomized controlled trial (RCT) on ICIs treatment for esophageal cancer patients from the establishment of the databases to January 25, 2024. Two researchers independently screened the literature and extracted data according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The outcome indicators were overall survival (OS) and progression-free survival (PFS), and RevMan 5.4 software was used for meta-analysis. The modified Jadad scoring scale was used to evaluate the quality of the included literature. Results A total of 10 RCT involving 5364 esophageal cancer patients were included in this study, with 2684 patients in the trial group and 2680 patients in the control group. The Jadad scores of the included literature were all ≥6 points, indicating high-quality RCT. Meta-analysis results showed that female esophageal cancer patients receiving ICIs treatment [HR=0.72, 95%CI (0.59, 0.87), P<0.001] had a more significant median OS prolongation than male patients [HR=0.73, 95%CI (0.68, 0.78), P<0.001]; while male patients [HR=0.57, 95%CI (0.52, 0.64), P<0.001] had a more significant PFS prolongation than female patients [HR=0.72, 95%CI (0.55, 0.94), P=0.01]. Female patients treated with ICIs alone [HR=0.66, 95%CI (0.50, 0.87), P=0.003] had a more significant median OS prolongation than male patients [HR=0.79, 95%CI (0.72, 0.87), P<0.001]; while male patients receiving ICIs combined with chemotherapy [HR=0.67, 95%CI (0.61, 0.74), P<0.001] had a more significant median OS prolongation than female patients [HR=0.77, 95%CI (0.59, 1.01), P=0.06]. Conclusion Female patients receiving ICIs have a slight advantage in OS compared to male patients, while male patients have an advantage in PFS. Male patients receiving ICIs combined with chemotherapy have better survival benefits than female patients, while female patients using ICIs monotherapy have better survival benefits than male patients.

The disease-syndrome combination animal model in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) andrology serves as an important bridge linking TCM theory with modern medical research, providing a key experimental platform for elucidating the 'syndrome-disease' correlation mechanism in male-specific diseases and for screening effective prescriptions. This article reviews recent progress in animal model research on common TCM andrological diseases, including prostatic diseases, sexual dysfunction, and male infertility, with a focus on analyzing the application, advantages, and disadvantages of various modeling strategies, such as immune induction, hormonal intervention, and multi-factor combination across different syndrome types. However, despite breakthroughs in model construction techniques, current research still faces several challenges, including insufficient standardization of syndrome differentiation and difficulties in quantifying TCM-specific indicators. Future studies need to optimize model evaluation systems by integrating modern technologies, in order to promote the standardization and internationalization of TCM andrology research.

Chinese Journal of School Health 2025;46(8):1170-1174
Objective:
To explore the association between the joint association of screen time on weekdays and weekends with self rated sleep quality among adolescents, providing scientific basis for improving adolescent sleep health.
Methods:
Using data from "Huantai Children s Cardiovascular Health Follow up Cohort" survey conducted during November to December 2023, a total of 1 197 adolescents aged 12-17 years with complete demographic characteristics, physical measurements, and questionnaire data were included. The dose response relationship between screen time and sleep quality was evaluated by restrictive cubic splines (RCS). Based on screen time on weekdays and weekends (normal: < 2 h/d; excessive: ≥ 2 h/d), adolescents were categorized into 4 groups. Multivariate Logistic regression models were used to analyze the association between the combined effect of screen time on weekdays and weekends and sleep quality.
Results:
The RCS analysis results showed that there was a linear dose response relationship between average daily screen time and poor sleep quality in adolescents (non linear P >0.05). The results of multiple Logistic regression analysis showed that adjusting for potential covariates, compared with adolescents having normal screen time on both weekdays and weekends, those with excessive screen time on both weekdays and weekends had increased risk of poor sleep quality ( OR=2.51, 95%CI=1.33-4.62, P <0.01). Sex stratified analysis revealed that girls with excessive screen time on both weekdays and weekends had increased odds of poor sleep quality ( OR=3.03, 95%CI=1.23-7.14, P =0.01), compared to girls who had normal screen time on both weekdays and weekends.
Conclusions
A linear dose response relationship exists between daily screen time and poor sleep quality in adolescents. Excessive screen time on both weekdays and weekends is positively associated with poor sleep quality, particularly more pronounced among female adolescents.

Sichuan Mental Health 2025;38(4):321-326
BackgroundPostpartum depression can affect the physical and mental health of mothers and the quality of parenting. Most Chinese women perform traditional postpartum practices (commonly known as "doing the month") after giving birth, while the existing findings are inconsistent and inconclusive regarding the potential of traditional Chinese postpartum practices to alleviate or exacerbate postpartum depression. ObjectiveTo explore the relationship between traditional Chinese postpartum practices and postpartum depression, so as to provide references for reducing the risk of postpartum depression. MethodsA total of 240 consecutive women who gave birth in the obstetrics department of the Mianyang Central Hospital and the Third Hospital of Mianyang from January to May 2024 were selected. Data were collected using Self-designed General Information Questionnaire, Chinese version of the Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale (EPDS), the Social Support Rating Scale (SSRS), the Patient Health Questionnaire-15 (PHQ-15), the Adherence to Doing-the-Month Practices questionnaire (ADP), and the Self-compiled Questionnaire on the Cognition of Doing-the-Month. The absolute value (A value) of the difference between scores of ADP and Cognition of Doing-the-Month Questionnaire was calculated to evaluate the degree of cognitive behavioral conflict of postpartum women. Pearson correlation analysis was performed to examine the correlations of EPDS score with SSRS score, PHQ-15 score, ADP total and dimensional scores, Cognition of Doing-the-Month Questionnaire total and dimensional scores, and A value. Logistic regression analysis was conducted to identify the protective and risk factors for developing postpartum depression. ResultsThe postpartum depression was detected in 22.50% of women. The postpartum women had a EPDS score of (6.21±5.00), ADP score of (70.05±20.57), SSRS score of (41.96±6.96), PHQ-15 score of (4.63±3.77), and Cognition of Doing-the-Month questionnaire score of (40.30±10.13). The A value was (0.65±0.58). Correlation analysis revealed that EPDS score was negatively correlated with the total ADP score and the four dimensional scores of the restrictions on social activities, diet, housework, and personal hygiene (r=-0.228, -0.146, -0.184, -0.275, -0.168, P<0.05 or 0.01), and positively correlated with the A value (r=0.161, P<0.05). Logistic regression analysis indicated that restriction on housework dimension in ADP was entered into the model (OR=0.930, 95% CI: 0.885~0.978). ConclusionThe restriction on housework dimension in traditional Chinese postpartum practices may be a protective factor against postpartum depression.

Chinese Journal of Tissue Engineering Research 2025;29(25):5362-5373
BACKGROUND:Pathological cardiac hypertrophy is a risk factor for various heart diseases, but its pathogenesis remains unclear.Circular RNAs are strongly associated with cardiac hypertrophy. However, the role of circular RNA CHACR in cardiac hypertrophy and its regulatory mechanisms have not been clarified.OBJECTIVE:To investigate the role of circular RNA CHACR in pressure overload-induced cardiac hypertrophy and the underlying mechanisms.METHODS:(1)Transverse aortic constriction was used to induce cardiac hypertrophy in vivo after in situ injection of cyclic RNA CHACR overexpressing lentivirus into the heart for 1 week.Heart mass/tibia length ratio and lung mass/tibia length ratio were calculated;cardiomyocyte surface area was measured;hypertrophic marker gene expression levels were detected;myocardial fibrosis degree was detected, and cardiac function was assessed.(2)H9c2 cardiomyocytes were treated with circular RNA CHACR overexpressing lentivirus for 72 hours, and then treated with 1 μmol/L angiotensin Ⅱ for 24 hours to induce hypertrophy of cardiomyocytes. The hypertrophy was assessed by measuring the surface area of cardiomyocytes, the expression level of hypertrophic marker genes, and the protein/DNA ratio.Oxidative stress damage was assessed by detecting reactive oxygen species levels and mitochondrial membrane potential.RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:(1)The expression level of circular RNA CHACR was significantly decreased in both in vivo and in vitro myocardial hypertrophy models(P<0.01).(2)The overexpression of circular RNA CHACR significantly inhibited the cardiac hypertrophy induced by transverse aortic constriction, including reducing the enlarged heart volume, significantly decreasing the increased heart mass/tibia length ratio(P<0.05),lung mass/tibia length ratio(P<0.05),and cardiomyocyte surface area(P<0.05),and decreasing the upregulated expression levels of hypertrophic markers atrial natriuretic peptide(P<0.05)and brain natriuretic peptide(P<0.05).(3)Cardiac fibrosis induced by transverse aortic constriction in mice was significantly inhibited by enforcing expression of circular RNA CHACR,as evidenced by reduced fibrotic area(P<0.01)and decreased expression levels of the fibrosis marker gene Acta1(P<0.05).(4)Overexpression of circular RNA CHACR significantly improved cardiac function in mice, including significantly increased ejection fraction(P<0.05)and fractional shortening(P<0.01).(5)Enforced expression of circular RNA CHACR significantly inhibited angiotensin Ⅱ-induced cardiomyocyte hypertrophy, including a significant reduction in cardiomyocyte surface area(P<0.05),downregulation of atrial natriuretic peptide(P<0.05),and brain natriuretic peptide(P<0.05)expression levels, and a significant decrease in protein/DNA ratio(P<0.05).(6)Overexpression of circular RNA CHACR significantly inhibited the elevation of reactive oxygen species levels(P<0.001)and the decrease in mitochondrial membrane potential(P<0.05)induced by angiotensin Ⅱ.These results confirm that the expression level of circular RNA CHACR is significantly decreased in cardiac hypertrophy at both in vivo and in vitro myocardial hypertrophy models, and overexpression of circular RNA CHACR significantly inhibits cardiac hypertrophy, alleviates cardiac fibrosis, improves cardiac function, and significantly attenuates angiotensin Ⅱ-induced oxidative stress damage.
