1.Analysis of Factors Affecting Hypertension Management by Age Using Data from the Eighth National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey

Purpose:
The purpose of this study was to identify age-specific factors that affect the management of hypertension in patients aged 19 years and older and provide a basis for developing effective management strategies.
Methods:
Data from the Eighth National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (2019~2021) on 5,092 individuals with hypertension were analyzed. Factors that influenced hypertension awareness, treatment, and control were identified through a multivariate logistic regression analysis. The prevalence, awareness, treatment, and control rates of hypertension were analyzed by age group using a x2 test.
Results:
The prevalence, awareness, and treatment rates of hypertension increased significantly with age. Among those aged 40~49 years, comorbidity, stress levels, and regular health check-ups were important factors in controlling hypertension; among those aged 50~59 years, education and income were critical factors, while for those aged 60 years and older, spousal presence and physical activity level were crucial. Younger age groups had lower levels of hypertension control.
Conclusion
Factors influencing hypertension control vary with age group. A personalized hypertension management strategy that considers the characteristics of each age group is required. In all age groups, an integrated management of comorbidities is important. Younger age groups should focus on improving awareness and treatment rates.In middle-aged adults, stress management and increased health screenings are key, whereas in older adults, an increased physical activity and social support are important.
2.Chronological Changes in the Portrayal of Korean Nurses in TV Documentaries

The study aim was to examine Korean TV documentaries featuring nurses and to understand how the image of nurses has changed over time. Methods: Forty-one Korean documentaries featuring nurses were selected. The qualitative content analysis method of Elo and Kyngäs (2008) was used to identify the images of nurses. Results:Three themes emerged: “emphasis on the image of being a doctor’s assistant and caring person,” “image of kindness prevailing among the diverse roles of nurses,” and “reports on the poor labor conditions behind the positive images of nurses.” The image of nurses has gradually changed from performing a passive and auxiliary role to functioning as health care professionals. Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, documentaries suggested that the poor labor conditions of nurses should be improved. Conclusion: Active publicity of nurses and nursing communities is needed using documentaries as a resource to inform the public of the various roles of nurses and promote the image of nurses as professionals.
3.Case Series for Occupational Skin Disorders in Carbon Fiber Exposed Packing Workers.

OBJECTIVES: We report an outbreak of skin disorder in semiconductor packing workers. Through an evaluation of the degree of work-relatedness in this case, we aim to develop a method to overcome such health problems in the workplace. METHODS: A questionnaire investigating the job characteristics and skin symptoms was administered to 51 packing workers working in a semiconductor production factory and 49 questionnaires returned. The 16 subjects in the exposure group and 12 in the non-exposure group underwent doctor's examination and patch test. Two of 28 subjects were excluded in patch test. We investigated the work environment and carbon fiber level which was the potential causative agent. RESULTS: Forty-five (91.8%) of 49 packing workers complained of itching and stinging. Three of 14(21.4%) in the exposure group and 3 of 11 (27.3%) in the non-exposure group were positive at 48hr reading of patch test for carbon fiber and carbon fiber paper. None was positive at 96hr reading of patch test. Prominent carbon fibers were microscopically observed on the surface of the packing box and the fiber diameter, measured up to 6.0~7.5 micrometer, was likely to induce skin irritation to skin. To avoid worker's direct contact with to carbon fiber, carbon fiber paper box was substituted by a wax coated carbon fiber paper box was substituted for the original carbon fiber paper box, which caused and the workers' symptoms to of workers disappeared. CONCLUSION: The probably cause of this outbreak of skin disorder was mild irritant contact dermatitis for carbon fiber. To prevent outbreaks of such occupational skin disorder like this, workers should avoid direct contact with carbon fiber.
