Red doctor spirit, as an important component of the Chinese revolutionary culture, represents a valuable spiritual wealth formed by the Communist Party of China during the revolutionary and construction periods. Red doctor spirit shares the same spiritual core, consistent moral pursuits, and unified value orientations with medical ethics education for medical students. Integrating red doctor spirit into medical ethics education for medical students contributes to strengthening their political beliefs, enhancing their professional competence, shaping their professional ethics, and cultivating their practical literacy. Medical colleges and universities should employ paths such as integrating red doctor spirit into classroom teaching, inheriting it through practical process, promoting it in cultural construction, and nurturing it through diverse carriers. These aim to cultivate medical students’ unwavering political beliefs, trustworthy medical skills, selfless moral convictions, and professional confidence in healing the sick, therefore guiding medical students to become high-quality medical talents with noble medical ethics and superb medical skills.

Objective To explore the expression profile of adenosine A1 receptor in the paraventricular thalamic nucleus(PVT)in wakefulness/sleep state and its role in regulating sleep. Methods Male C57BL/6J mice(6~12 weeks old, weighing 22~28 g)were randomly divided into ZT0,ZT6,ZT10,ZT12,and sleep deprivation and recover0y sleep groups(n=16 or n=4).RT-qPCR and fluorescence in situ hybridization were used to observe the changes of adenosine A1 receptor in PVT.Whole-cell patch-clamp recording was conducted to determine the effects of adenosine on the membrane potential and discharge frequency of PVT neurons. The experimental animals were divided into adenosine A1 receptor interference group(n=8)and interference control group(n=7).After RNA interference, electroencephalography(EEG)and electromyography(EMG)were applied simultaneously to observe the changes in wake and sleep time between the 2 groups during sleep deprivation for 6 h and sleep recovery for 4 h.Results RT-qPCR and fluorescence in situ hybridization confirmed that the expression of adenosine A1 receptor in PVT was affected by wakefulness/sleep state, with the level in the ZT0 group(active stage)significantly higher than that in the ZT12 group(non-active stage,P<0.05).Whole-cell patch clamp recording indicated that adenosine exerted inhibitory effects on PVT neurons through 2 distinct response types(P<0.05),and the inhibition was in a diminishing trend with a decrease in the expression level of adenosine A1 receptor. After sleep deprivation, the expression level of adenosine A1 receptor showed significant intergroup differences:the level was significantly higher in the sleep deprivation group than the recovery sleep group(P<0.05),while that of the recovery sleep group was higher than that of the ZT6 group and that of the ZT10 group(P<0.05).After knocking down adenosine A1 receptor(shRNA-A1R)in the PVT,the wakefulness timing of the shRNA-A1R group was significantly increased, while the sleep timing was significantly decreased within 1 h after sleep recovery when compared with the interference control group(P<0.05).Conclusion The expression of adenosine A1 receptor in the PVT is dynamically regulated by sleep pressure, which was increasing as sleep pressure rises.

Objective To observe the therapeutic effect of laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy (LSG) in treating patients with obesity and polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). Methods In this retrospective analysis, clinical materials of 60 patients with obesity and PCOS by LSG were analyzed, and postoperative improvements of PCOS symptoms were observed. Results A total of 60 patients had a preoperative mean body mass index (BMI) of (39.4±5.4) kg/m2 and an average age of (26.3±6.1) years old, and all of them successfully completed LSG. After follow-up of 12 to 18 months, 50 cases (83.3%) had normalized menstrual cycles, with an average recovery time of (4.5 ±2.2) months after surgery, and 7 cases had natural pregnancy after surgery. Before surgery, ultrasound results in 35 patients indicated polycystic ovarian morphology (PCOM), and 29 cases (82.9%) regained normal ovarian status with an average recovery duration of (6.3±2.8) months. Complicated hyperandrogenemia was observed in 31 patients, and 29 cases (93.5%) exhibited normalization of testosterone levels within 18 months after surgery. At 18 months after surgery, the BMI was (26.47±4.70) kg/m2, the average weight loss was (32.4±7.4) %. Conclusion LSG is a safe and effective treatment for obese PCOS.

Objective To investigate the etiology, pathogenesis and treatment of erythromelalgia.MethodsRetrospective analysis of clinical features and respective treatment options of 8 cases of erythromelalgia patients in Ruijin Hospital.ResultsThe major clinical characteristics of EM cases included burning, sharp, tingling and/or stinging pain in toes, soles and/or dorsum of feet, increased temperature, erythema and swelling. One case reported burning pain in both fingers and feet. These symptoms were more severe during the night, walking, standing, exercising and when the individual was near a heater.Patients could relieve their pains by rest, using cold packs, walking on cold floors or immersing feet in cold water.Combined treatment, topical therapies and management of underlying disorders were necessary for erythromelalgia.ConclusionErythromelalgia is a rare cutaneous vascular disease with characteristics of recurrent redness, burning pain, and warmth of the extremities which could be induced by heat and exercise.Combined treatment, topical therapies and management of underlying disorders were necessary for erythromelalgia.
