Objective:To analyze the results of anonymous review and influencing factors of master's degree theses in Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) from 2018 to 2023, and provide a reference for improving the quality of graduate education. Methods:Using the anonymous review data of 766 master's degree theses submitted by CDC from 2018 to 2023, a statistical analysis was performed on the overall evaluation and four evaluation indicators using the Excel and SPSS 27.0. Potential factors influencing thesis quality were also explored. Results:The overall evaluation scores of the 766 master's degree theses submitted by CDC from 2018 to 2023 were generally rated as "good", with a mean score of (16.58±1.95). The mean scores of the four indicators were all rated as "good" and above. The scores were in the order of thesis topics (17.32±1.81), basic knowledge and research ability (16.51±2.10), innovation and thesis value (16.21±1.96), and thesis standardization (16.08±2.20). The overall evaluation score of students recommended and exempted from entrance exams (17.14±1.54) was higher than that of students admitted through national entrance exams (16.54±1.96). Specifically, significant differences were observed in basic knowledge and research ability and thesis standardization ( P<0.05). The overall evaluation score of academic degree theses (16.81±1.88) was higher than professional degree theses (16.32±1.99). The overall evaluation score of degree theses on basic research (16.99±1.86) was significantly higher than that of theses on applied research (16.33±1.96) and comprehensive research (16.27±1.91) ( P<0.05). The overall evaluation score of theses supported by national funds (17.01±1.77) was significantly higher than that of theses funded by provincial and ministerial projects (16.67±1.96) and other projects (16.18±1.99) ( P<0.05). Conclusions:During 2018-2023, the overall evaluation scores of master's degree theses of CDC were generally rated as "good". The quality of theses and graduate education can be enhanced by improving the quality of sources of students, expanding basic research, applying for high-level fund projects, and establishing effective process management mechanism.

BACKGROUND:Mangiferin is a biphenylpyridone compound extracted from mango leaves, bark and roots.Previous studies have shown that mangiferin can exert anti-systemic inflammatory effects through the activation of transcription factors such as NF-κB and JAK/STAT. OBJECTIVE:To investigate the effects and mechanisms of mangiferin on proliferation, migration and inflammatory factor release of rheumatoid arthritis fibroblast-like synovial cells(RA-FLS). METHODS:RA-FLS were divided into blank group,R848(TLR7/8 agonists)stimulated group, mangiferin low-,medium-,high-dose groups(2,4 and 8 μg/mL)and positive control group(Cu-CPT8,TLR8 pathway inhibitor). The cytotoxic effect of different mass concentrations of mangiferin was detected using cell counting kit-8 method and the final cellular dosing mass concentration was screened. The proliferation ability of RA-FLS was detected by cell clone formation assay, the migration ability of RA-FLS was detected by scratch assay and Transwell migration assay, and the expression of interleukin 1β,interleukin 6 and tumor necrosis factor α mRNA in RA-FLS was detected by qRT-PCR. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:Compared with the blank group, the viability of RA-FLS was inhibited after treatment with mangiferin at 2-10 μg/mL,but there was no significant difference among groups(P>0.05),indicating that the toxic effect on RA-FLS was minimal.Compared with the R848-stimulated group, mangiferin decreased the number of cell clones, the scratch healing rate and the number of migrating cells in all dosing groups(P<0.01);and the expression of interleukin 1β,interleukin 6 and tumor necrosis factor α mRNA was also reduced in the mangostin medium-and high-dose groups(P<0.01).Compared with the R848-stimulated group, the number of cell clones, the scratch healing rate and the number of migrating cells as well as the expression levels of interleukin 6 and tumor necrosis factor α mRNA were significantly reduced in the positive control group(P<0.05,P<0.01).But there was no significant difference in the expression level of interleukin 1β.To conclude, mangiferin may exert its anti-rheumatoid arthritis effects through the TLR7/8 signaling pathway by inhibiting RA-FLS proliferation, migration, and inflammatory factor release.

A questionnaire was used to investigate the emergency training needs of novel coronavirus pneumonia of disease prevention and control institutions in provinces, deputy provincial level regions and cities specifically designated in the state plan, and the effect evaluation of emergency training activities conducted by Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (China CDC). The results showed that 67.4% of 47 disease prevention and control institutions (31/46) believed that the emergency training at the initial stage of the epidemic should be conducted as soon as possible, and the form of network training should be given priority. The training should focus on the urgently needed technologies such as epidemiological investigation, formulation and response of prevention and control strategies, laboratory testing, etc. The teaching materials should highlight pertinence and practicability and be presented in the form of electronic video. The average satisfaction score of the video training conducted by China CDC was (8.81±1.125) and the score of audio-video courseware was (8.97±0.893). The needs analysis and evaluation of novel coronavirus pneumonia prevention and control in disease prevention and control institutions could provide reference for the follow-up training and improve the emergency training management.

Objective To analyze the epidemic status of principal human parasites, so as to provide scientific evidence for making prevention countermeasures for Guangdong Province in the future. Methods In 2015, a survey was performed according to the scheme of "The 3rd National Survey of Principal Human Parasites"as well as the incidence of parasites disease in Guangdong Province, the residents at 48 investiation sites in counties were surveyed. The survey of the soil-transmitted nematodes (Ascariasis, Ancylostoma, Trichuris trichiura and Enterobius vermicularis) and intestinal protozoa were performed based on the ecological regions and stratified by economic and geographic situation. The survey of food borne Clonorchis sinensis was performed along with the soil-transmitted nematodes in rural areas, and it was performed by the sample method of random cluster in cities and towns. The residents in each investigation site as the object, the ovum of the soil-transmitted nematodes, Clonorchis sinensis and other helminths were examed by the modified Kato-Katz method, test tube filter paper was used to identify Hookwormspecies, and the intestinal protozoa was checked by direct smear method. The transparent tape anal swabs method for children aged 3 - 6 years to check Enterobius vermicularis. Results Totally 12 401 residents of 48 survey sites from 22 counties were surveyed, and the total infection rate of intestinal parasites was 8.29%(1 028/12 401). The infection rate of soil-transmitted nematodes was 3.39% (420/12 401),in which the infection rate of Ascariasis, Ancylostoma, Trichuris trichiura and Enterobius vermicularis were 0.52% (64/12 401), 1.89%(234/12 401),0.46%(57/12 401),and 0.52%(65/12 401),respectively.The infection rate of Clonorchis sinensis was 4.90%(608/12 401). Nine hundred and sixty-seven children were tested for eggs of Enterobius vermicularis with the infection rate of 12.41% (120/967). The number of hook larva culture was 153, among them, 140 were hookworm larvae of America and no duodenal hookworm larvae and other nematode species were found.Totally 9 309 residents were tested for intestinal protozoa infection, and the infection rate was 0.31%(29/9 309). Conclusion In Guangdong Province, the infection rate of soil-transmitted nematodes is decreasing while the infection rate of Clonorchis sinensis is still high, and the control work of parasites still should be strengthened especially for food borne parasitic diseases.
