Objective:
To understand the current status of short video addiction among vocational nursing students in higher vocational colleges (hereinafter referred to as "nursing students") and its related factors, so as to provide a reference for formulating online education programs in colleges.
Methods:
From March to May 2025, a stratified random sample of 2 223 nursing students from four vocational colleges in Henan Province was selected. Short Video Addiction Scale for College Students, Short form Egna Minnen av Barndoms Uppfostran for Chinese, Peer Rejection Scale, and University of California at Los Angels Loneliness Scale were used for investigation. Chi square test and multivariate Logistic regression analysis were used to explore the related factors of short video addiction among nursing students.
Results:
The detection rate of short video addiction of higher vocational nursing students was 26.95%, and the scores for avoidance, loss of control, inefficiency and withdrawal were (8.05±2.97) (10.24±3.09) (4.99±1.88) and (11.97±4.10), respectively. Multivariate Logistic regression analysis showed that sophomore year 2 ( OR=1.83, 95%CI =1.39-2.40), higher maternal education level (secondary school/vocational college: OR =1.34, 95% CI =1.06-1.68; college/undergraduate: OR =1.38, 95% CI =1.05-1.82), paternal overprotection ( OR=1.59, 95%CI =1.27-2.00), high peer rejection ( OR=1.40, 95%CI =1.19-1.66), and strong loneliness ( OR=1.57, 95%CI =1.07-2.28) were associated with a higher risk of short video addiction among nursing students (all P <0.05). Paternal affectionate and warm rearing style ( OR=0.82, 95%CI = 0.71- 0.95) was associated with a lower risk of short video addiction ( P <0.05).
Conclusions
The detection rate of short video addiction among nursing students is relatively high. Short video addiction is related to the nursing students grade, maternal education level, paternal overprotection and affectionate rearing style, peer rejection, and loneliness.

Objective:To explore the value of ultrasound imaging characteristics combined with clinical indicators in assessing the prognosis of patients with pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC).Methods:A retrospective analysis was conducted for patients who underwent pancreatic contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) from September 2017 to October 2023 at Peking Union Medical College Hospital and were diagnosed with PDAC based on pathological findings. Various parameters were recorded, including CA19-9 levels, tumor size, location, morphologic features, echogenicity, presence of internal cystic components, dilatation of the main pancreatic duct, peripheral vascular invasion, CEUS characteristics, presence or absence of liver metastasis, and treatment methods. In April 2024, patient survival information was obtained through telephone follow-up or review of medical records. Based on the results of the cox regression model analysis, a nomogram model of the risk of death was developed. The receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves were applied to evaluate the predictive efficacy of the model. The calibration curves were plotted to evaluate the accuracy of the model, and clinical decision curves were used to evaluate the clinical benefit of the model. Results:This study included a total of 207 patients with PDAC. As of April 2024, 71 patients were alive and 136 died, with a median survival time of 14 months (95% CI: 12 -17). Multivariate analysis confirmed that the elevated CA19-9 ( HR=1.689, 95% CI: 1.102-2.588), tumor size >4 cm ( HR=1.641, 95% CI: 1.159-2.322), taller-than-wide shapes ( HR=1.450, 95% CI: 1.019-2.065), incomplete hypo-enhancement ( HR=1.618, 95% CI: 1.100-2.380), and liver metastasis ( HR=1.687, 95% CI: 1.175-2.423) were independent risk factors for survival in patients with PDAC. A nomogram model was further constructed for 6-month, 12-month and 3-year survival of patients with PDAC. The areas under the ROC curve were 0.679, 0.705 and 0.815, respectively. The calibration curves suggested that the model was more accurate, and the clinical decision curves showed that the model had a better clinical benefit. Conclusion:The combined use of ultrasound imaging characteristics and clinical indicators could effectively predict the prognosis of PDAC patients. Specifically, tumor size >4 cm, taller-than-wide shapes, incomplete hypo-enhancement, elevated CA19-9, and the presence of liver metastasis are correlated with poorer survival outcomes. The nomogram model constructed on the basis of these factors can be used to assess the survival of patients with PDAC.

ObjectiveTo investigate the mechanism of Xuefu Zhuyu capsules against atherosclerosis via regulating polarization of macrophages based on Notch1/jagged canonical Notch ligand 1(Jagged1)/Hes family BHLH transcription factor 1(Hes1) signaling pathway. MethodThe mouse models with atherosclerosis were prepared by feeding the mice with an ApoE-/- high-fat diet for four weeks, and they were randomly divided into the model group, Xuefu Zhuyu capsule group, and atorvastatin group. C57BL/6 mice were fed as a normal group. The Xuefu Zhuyu capsule group was intragastrically given Xuefu Zhuyu capsules (0.728 g·kg-1·d-1), and the atorvastatin group was intragastrically given atorvastatin tablet (6.07 mg·kg-1·d-1). The normal group and the model group were given equal volume of the deionized water by intragastric administration, and the intervention lasted for 12 weeks. Aortic plaque morphology was observed by hematoxylin-eosin (HE) staining, and aortic plaque area and lipid deposition were observed by oil red O staining. The positive expression levels of CD86 and CD206 in aortic tissue were detected by immunohistochemistry, and serum levels of tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α, interleukin(IL)-1β, transforming growth factor (TGF)-β1, and IL-10 were detected by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). The relative mRNA expressions of inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS), arginase-1 (Arg-1), Notch1, Jagged1, and Hes1 in aortic tissue were detected by real-time fluorescence quantitative polymerase chain reaction (Real-time PCR). The relative protein expression of iNOS, Arg-1, Notch1, Jagged1, and Hes1 in aortic tissue was detected by Western blot. ResultCompared with the normal group, the model group had significant aortic plaque and lipid deposition, and the expression levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines TNF-α and IL-1β were increased (P<0.01). The expression level of anti-inflammatory cytokine TGF-β1 showed a downward trend, but the difference was not statistically significant. The mRNA and protein expressions of iNOS were increased (P<0.01). The protein expression of Arg-1 was decreased (P<0.01), and the mRNA expression of related pathway molecule Jagged1, as well as the protein expressions of Notch1, Jagged1, and Hes1 were increased in the model group (P<0.05, P<0.01). Compared with those in the model group, the plaque area and lipid deposition had a decreasing trend in the Xuefu Zhuyu capsule group, and the expressions of TNF-α and IL-1β showed a downward trend. The expression of TGF-β1 was increased (P<0.05), and the expression of macrophage marker CD86 was decreased. The mRNA and protein expressions of iNOS were decreased (P<0.01). The mRNA and protein expressions of Arg-1 were increased (P<0.05, P<0.01). Furthermore, the mRNA and protein expressions of Notch1, Jagged1, and Hes1 were decreased (P<0.01). ConclusionXuefu Zhuyu capsules can reduce aortic plaque area and lipid deposition in mice with atherosclerosis, alleviate inflammation, inhibit M1 macrophages, and promote the expression of M2 macrophages, and the mechanism may be related to the regulation of Notch1/Jagged1/Hes1 signaling pathway.

Chinese Medical Journal 2024;137(13):1592-1602
Background::Acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) is a common cause of respiratory failure in many critically ill patients. Although inflammasome activation plays an important role in the induction of acute lung injury (ALI) and ARDS, the regulatory mechanism of this process is still unclear. When cells are stimulated by inflammation, the integrity and physiological function of mitochondria play a crucial part in pyroptosis. However, the underlying mechanisms and function of mitochondrial proteins in the process of pyroptosis are largely not yet known. Here, we identified the 18-kDa translocator protein (TSPO), a mitochondrial outer membrane protein, as an important mediator regulating nucleotide-binding domain, leucine-rich repeat, and pyrin domain-containing protein 3 (NLRP3) inflammasome activation in macrophages during ALI.Methods::TSPO gene knockout (KO) and lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced ALI/ARDS mouse models were employed to investigate the biological role of TSPO in the pathogenesis of ARDS. Murine macrophages were used to further characterize the effect of TSPO on the NLRP3 inflammasome pathway. Activation of NLRP3 inflammasome was preformed through LPS + adenosine triphosphate (ATP) co-stimulation, followed by detection of mitochondrial membrane potential, reactive oxygen species (ROS) production, and cell death to evaluate the potential biological function of TSPO. Comparisons between two groups were performed with a two-sided unpaired t-test. Results::TSPO-KO mice exhibited more severe pulmonary inflammation in response to LPS-induced ALI. TSPO deficiency resulted in enhanced activation of the NLRP3 inflammasome pathway, promoting more proinflammatory cytokine production of macrophages in LPS-injured lung tissue, including interleukin (IL)-1β, IL-18, and macrophage inflammatory protein (MIP)-2. Mitochondria in TSPO-KO macrophages tended to depolarize in response to cellular stress. The increased production of mitochondrial damage-associated molecular pattern led to enhanced mitochondrial membrane depolarization and pyroptosis in TSPO-KO cells. Conclusion::TSPO may be the key regulator of cellular pyroptosis, and it plays a vital protective role in ARDS occurrence and development.
