AIM: To explore the effect of dihydroquercetin on visual function in mice with form deprivation myopia based on the NOD-like receptor thermoprotein domain-related protein 3(NLRP3)inflammasome pathway.METHODS: The C57BL/6 mice were randomly divided into control group and form deprivation myopia model group, and the form deprivation myopia model group was constructed by covering the right eye with a translucent eye patch. After successful modeling, the mice in the model group of form deprivation myopia were randomly divided into model group, low-, medium- and high-dose dihydroquercetin groups, and high-dose dihydroquercetin + NLRP3 agonist group. The diopter and axial length of mice in each group were detected. The kit was used to detect the levels of superoxide dismutase(SOD)and malondialdehyde(MDA)in retinal tissue. RT-qPCR was used to detect the mRNA expressions of NLRP3, apoptosis-associated spot-like protein(ASC), Caspase-1, IL-1β and IL-18 in retinal tissues. Western blot was used to detect the expression of NLRP3, ASC, cleaved Caspase-1, IL-1β and IL-18 proteins in retinal tissues. TUNEL staining was used to detect apoptosis in retinal tissue.RESULTS: Compared with the control group, the diopter of the mice in the model group decreased, and axial length increased, and the SOD decreased whereas MDA, NLRP3, ASC, Caspase-1, IL-1β, IL-18 increased, and the rate of apoptosis in retinal tissue increased(all P<0.05). Compared with the model group, the diopter of mice in the low-, medium- and high-dose dihydroquercetin groups increased, axial length shortened, the SOD increased, whereas MDA, NLRP3, ASC, Caspase-1, IL-1β, IL-18 decreased, and the rate of apoptosis in retinal tissue decreased(all P<0.05). Compared with the high-dose dihydroquercetin group, the high-dose dihydroquercetin+NLRP3 agonist group had reduced diopter, increased axial length, decreased SOD levels, elevated MDA, NLRP3, ASC, Caspase-1, IL-1β, and IL-18 levels, as well as increased apoptosis rate in retinal tissue(all P<0.05).CONCLUSION: Dihydroquercetin can improve visual function in mice with form deprivation myopia by inhibiting pyroptosis and oxidative stress responses, which may be related to the suppression of NLRP3 inflammasome. NLRP3 agonists can partially mitigate the effects of high-dose dihydroquercetin on form deprivation myopia in mice.

ObjectiveTo systematically evaluate the application of narrative education in undergraduate nursing teaching, to understand the current application status of narrative education, and to provide a theoretical basis for the subsequent establishment of a sound narrative education system. MethodsA systematic search was conducted for studies published in Chinese and English databases on applying narrative education to undergraduate nursing teaching, with the search period ranging from database inception to February 23, 2025. Literature was screened, and relevant information was extracted. A rigorous quality evaluation was conducted on the included studies, and a descriptive analysis was performed on their content. ResultsA total of 20 papers were included, involving 3,180 research subjects, all of whom were undergraduate nursing students. The results of descriptive analysis showed that the teaching model of narrative education primarily encompassed reading narrative works, watching films and videos, performing narrative scenarios, and writing reflective journals. The course setting and content covered pre-teaching preparation and in-teaching implementation. The evaluation of teaching effectiveness included the evaluation of teachers’ teaching methods (student evaluation/self-evaluation) and the evaluation of students’ learning effectiveness (course grade evaluation/humanistic care scale/empathy scale assessment, and others). ConclusionNarrative education combines abstract concepts with concrete clinical situations, which not only enriches students’ learning experiences but also enhances their humanistic literacy. Meanwhile, it provides teachers with opportunities to develop their narrative teaching skills, which requires them to possess profound professional knowledge and employ narrative techniques to guide students in reflection and critical thinking, thereby improving teaching quality and learning outcomes. Future efforts should consistently deepen the connotation research of narrative education and build a systematic nursing education system.

ObjectiveTo systematically review and analyze the core ethical challenges accompanying technological convergence in the field of rehabilitation engineering, and to propose a forward-looking and actionable ethical governance framework. MethodsTaking the basic principles of policies and regulations, medical ethics, and scientific and technological ethics as the theoretical foundation, and combining with the application characteristics of rehabilitation engineering technology, this paper systematically sorted out the core issues existing in the ethical review of rehabilitation engineering, and conducted targeted analyses focusing on the key points of ethical governance. ResultsThis paper systematically reviewed the core ethical challenges arising from technological convergence in rehabilitation engineering, encompassing dilemmas of identity and autonomy, inequitable resource allocation and biases, data privacy and security risks, and accountability attribution difficulties in multi-stakeholder collaboration. It further proposed targeted governance recommendations along three dimensions: deepening ethical principles, improving review mechanisms and building capacity among diverse stakeholders. ConclusionRehabilitation engineering, leveraging artificial intelligence and robotics offers novel rehabilitation pathways for individuals with functional impairments, and has substantially improved therapeutic outcomes. Nevertheless, its widespread application is accompanied by ethical challenges, including privacy breaches, difficulties in liability attribution, inequitable service access, and emotional dependency. Governance pathways should be established around the refinement of ethical principles, the formulation of specific regulatory frameworks, and the cultivation of ethical competence among diverse stakeholders. Ethical considerations must be embedded throughout the entire lifecycle of technology research and development, clinical translation and deployment. Through the coordinated advancement of policy, technology and humanistic values, a balance can be struck between technological innovation and the protection of human rights, thereby fostering the beneficent and sustainable development of rehabilitation engineering.

Panretinal photocoagulation(PRP)is the first-line treatment for severe non-proliferative diabetic retinopathy and proliferative diabetic retinopathy(PDR).Its therapeutic efficacy varies due to multiple patient-specific systemic and ocular factors. Despite standardized PRP, some patients fail to show adequate regression of neovascularization and subsequently develop vitreous hemorrhage(VH). In such cases, pars plana vitrectomy(PPV)effectively clears the hemorrhage, restores transparency of the ocular media, supplement PRP, and delays the progression of PDR, thus becoming a critical intervention. With recent advances in surgical techniques, concepts, and equipment, early PPV intervention for VH following PRP has emerged as a growing research focus. Nevertheless, consensus remains lacking regarding its indications, optimal timing, and surgical protocols. This article systematically reviews relevant domestic and international studies, summarizing the surgical timing, approaches, and prognoses of PPV for VH in PDR patients after PRP, aiming to provide evidence-based reference for clinical decision-making and reduce the risk of PDR-related blindness.

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the most common type of primary liver cancer and has a poor overall prognosis. Contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) plays a crucial role in the diagnosis, treatment response evaluation, and prognostic evaluation of HCC. This article systematically reviews the literature characteristics, research hotspots, and frontier advances of CEUS in the field of HCC. There has been a gradual increase in annual publication volume in this field, with China ranking first globally in the total number of publications. Highly cited articles mainly focus on clinical guidelines and standardized protocols. Keyword analysis shows that the main research hotspots in this field include the diagnosis and standardized assessment of HCC, differential diagnosis, treatment response evaluation after local therapy, and prognostic prediction. Meanwhile, microvascular invasion, artificial intelligence (AI), and super-resolution ultrasound (SRUS) may be emerging as cutting-edge frontiers in this field. Specifically, AI can be used for the auxiliary diagnosis of HCC, the evaluation of tumor biological characteristics, and prognostic prediction, and SRUS can overcome the acoustic diffraction limit to achieve precise microvascular imaging of the liver. Currently, a solid foundation has been established for the research on CEUS in HCC, showing a strong orientation toward clinical practice. In the future, emerging technologies such as CEUS-based AI models and SRUS are expected to further promote the development of precise diagnosis and treatment for HCC.

Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is a prevalent neurodegenerative condition characterized by progressive cognitive decline and memory loss. As the incidence of AD continues to rise annually, researchers have shown keen interest in the active components found in natural plants and their neuroprotective effects against AD. Quercetin, a flavonol widely present in fruits and vegetables, has multiple biological effects including anticancer, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant. Oxidative stress plays a central role in the pathogenesis of AD, and the antioxidant properties of quercetin are essential for its neuroprotective function. Quercetin can modulate multiple signaling pathways related to AD, such as Nrf2-ARE, JNK, p38 MAPK, PON2, PI3K/Akt, and PKC, all of which are closely related to oxidative stress. Furthermore, quercetin is capable of inhibiting the aggregation of β‑amyloid protein (Aβ) and the phosphorylation of tau protein, as well as the activity of β‑secretase 1 and acetylcholinesterase, thus slowing down the progression of the disease. The review also provides insights into the pharmacokinetic properties of quercetin, including its absorption, metabolism, and excretion, as well as its bioavailability challenges and clinical applications. To improve the bioavailability and enhance the targeting of quercetin, the potential of quercetin nanomedicine delivery systems in the treatment of AD is also discussed. In summary, the multifaceted mechanisms of quercetin against AD provide a new perspective for drug development. However, translating these findings into clinical practice requires overcoming current limitations and ongoing research. In this way, its therapeutic potential in the treatment of AD can be fully utilized.

Chinese Journal of Reproduction and Contraception 2025;45(1):85-89
In recent years, more and more studies have shown that autophagy is closely related to female reproductive process. Autophagy is a widespread and highly conserved degradation system in eukaryotes that can be activated under conditions such as hypoxia, starvation, lack of nutrients, or extreme pH. In terms of reproductive health, autophagy can improve reproductive dysfunction by removing damaged organelles and regulating cell growth and metabolism. Appropriate regulation of autophagy helps to improve oocyte quality, delay ovarian aging, fine-regulate endometrial growth, and ensure successful implantation of embryos. However, the abnormality of autophagy pathway may cause problems such as activation of pelvic inflammatory cytokines, reduced endometrial receptivity, abnormal follicle development, and weakened invasion ability of trophoblast cells, thus leading to the occurrence and development of reproductive disorders such as endometriosis, chronic endometritis, polycystic ovary syndrome, early-onset ovarian insufficiency, and recurrent spontaneous abortion. This article reviews the mechanism and therapeutic targets of autophagy in female reproductive diseases, providing clinical ideas and diagnosis and treatment strategies for improving female reproductive health.
