With the advancement of the new medical science initiative, medical laboratory science is evolving into an interdisciplinary field integrating medicine, engineering, science, and humanities. Cultivating high-level, interdisciplinary talents to meet disciplinary demands has become a core mission of medical laboratory education. As a critical phase for enhancing students′ clinical thinking and practical skills, the internship training model requires consistently innovation and improvement. This manuscript focuses on optimizing clinical internship teaching under the New Medical Science framework, exploring multidisciplinary integration, and proposing improvements in four dimensions: teaching system construction, mentorship program enhancement, teaching quality improvement, and outcome evaluation, in order to provide theoretical support for the innovative development of medical laboratory education in terms of new medical science.

Objective To construct an exercise intervention scheme for postoperative colorectal cancer patients and evaluate its application.Methods The research team summarized the evidence on exercise recommendations for patients with colorectal cancer(CRC)and constructed an exercise intervention scheme through group discussion,expert consultation,semi-structured interviews,and onsite consultation.Patients with CRC admitted to the Department of Colorectal Surgery of a tertiary A hospital in Jilin province were selected as the study subjects by a convenience sampling method from October 2023 to March 2024.The test group and the control group included 35 patients in each group.The test group received basic nursing and exercise intervention,the control group received basic nursing and knowledge-based education.The 2 groups were compared in terms of physical activity,number of 30 s chair-stand test,and physical activity compliance score at 1 week post-intervention and 1 month post-intervention.Results There were 4 cases dropped in the test group and 3 cases dropped in the control group.The results of repeated measures ANOVA showed that there were between-group and time interaction effects for walking time,sedentary time,and the number of chair stands in 30 s in the 2 groups(P＜0.05).The experimental group's walking time,sedentary time,the number of chair stands in 30 s,moderate physical activity time and the physical activity compliance scores were better than those of the control group after the intervention,and the differences were statistically significant(P＜0.05).Conclusion This exercise intervention based on a multi-theory model significantly increased the moderate physical activity time and walking time,decreased the sedentary time and improved compliance with physical activity recommendations,which may improve lower limb muscle strength in postoperative colorectal cancer patients.

Objective:To construct an evaluation index system for the effectiveness of ideological and political education in the curriculum of professional master's degree nursing programs, providing an evaluation tool for objectively assessing the teaching quality of ideological and political education in these programs.Methods:The initial draft of the index system was designed based on a review of domestic and international literature. From October 2022 to January 2023, 15 experts were selected using convenience sampling for three rounds of Delphi expert consultation, and the analytic hierarchy process was used to determine the weight of the indicators.Results:The positive response rate from the 15 experts in all three rounds of consultation was 100% (15/15), and the expert authority coefficient was 0.813. The Kendall's coefficient of concordance for the overall indicators in the third round was 0.116 ( P<0.01). The constructed evaluation index system includes 5 first-level indicators (goal and concept, faculty, course resources, teaching implementation, teaching effectiveness), 12 second-level indicators, and 49 third-level indicators. Conclusions:The evaluation index system for the effectiveness of ideological and political education in the curriculum of professional master's degree nursing programs demonstrates good scientific validity and reliability. It can provide objective and quantitative evaluation criteria for the development of ideological and political education in these programs.

In order to investigate the chemical constituents of glycosides in Piper sintenense Hatusima, column chromatographic techniques such as silica gel, ODS, MCI GEL CHP20P, Sephadex LH-20, and semi-preparative high performance liquid chromatography were used to afford nine glycosides from the n-butanol part of the 95% ethanol extract of Piper sintenense Hatusima. Based on the physicochemical properties and NMR data, the above compounds were identified as (2S)-2-hydroxy-1-(4-hydroxy-3-methoxyphenyl)-1-propanone-2-O-β-D-glucopyranoside (1), 2-phenylethyl β-D-glucopyranoside (2), benzyl α-L-arabinopyranosyl-(1''→6')-β-D-glucopyranoside (3), benzyl β-D-xylopyanosyl-(1''→6')-β-D-glucopyranoside (4), phenethyl β-D-apiofuranosyl-(1''→ 2')-β-D-glucopyranoside(5), salidroside (6), phenethanol β-D-xylopyanosyl-(1''→6')-β-D-glucopyranoside (7), (Z)-hexenyl-O-α-L-arabinopyranosyl-(1''→6')-O-β-D-glucopyranoside (8), (Z)-hexenyl-O-β-D-xylopyanosyl-(1''→6')-O-β-D-glucopyranoside (9). Compound 1 was identified as a new compound, and compounds 3-9 were isolated from the genus Piper for the first time.

Approximately 140 million people worldwide are homozygous carriers of APOE4 (ε4), a strong genetic risk factor for late onset familial and sporadic Alzheimer's disease (AD), 91% of whom will develop AD at earlier age than heterozygous carriers and noncarriers. Susceptibility to AD could be reduced by targeted editing of APOE4, but a technical basis for controlling the off-target effects of base editors is necessary to develop low-risk personalized gene therapies. Here, we first screened eight cytosine base editor variants at four injection stages (from 1- to 8-cell stage), and found that FNLS-YE1 variant in 8-cell embryos achieved the comparable base conversion rate (up to 100%) with the lowest bystander effects. In particular, 80% of AD-susceptible ε4 allele copies were converted to the AD-neutral ε3 allele in human ε4-carrying embryos. Stringent control measures combined with targeted deep sequencing, whole genome sequencing, and RNA sequencing showed no DNA or RNA off-target events in FNLS-YE1-treated human embryos or their derived stem cells. Furthermore, base editing with FNLS-YE1 showed no effects on embryo development to the blastocyst stage. Finally, we also demonstrated FNLS-YE1 could introduce known protective variants in human embryos to potentially reduce human susceptivity to systemic lupus erythematosus and familial hypercholesterolemia. Our study therefore suggests that base editing with FNLS-YE1 can efficiently and safely introduce known preventive variants in 8-cell human embryos, a potential approach for reducing human susceptibility to AD or other genetic diseases.

Objective:To analyze the relationship between ataxia telangiectasia mutated (ATM) single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) at rs1801516 and rs1800054 and sporadic breast cancer (SBC) in Inner Mongolia.Methods:A total of 102 patients with SBC (72 Han and 30 Mongolian) who were admitted to the Affiliated Hospital of Inner Mongolia Medical University from January 2018 to September 2019 were prospectively collected as case group and 102 healthy women (72 Han and 30 Mongolian) during the same period as control group. 2 ml of venous blood was collected to extract DNA. According to the Single Nucleotide Polymorphism Database (dbSNP), the highly polymorphic sites rs1801516 and rs1800054 of ATM gene were selected. The polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and direct sequencing were used to detect the polymorphism of the two sites, and the correlation between the single nucleotide polymorphism of the two sites and the susceptibility of SBC in Inner Mongolia was analyzed. The potential association between clinicopathological factors and ATM gene polymorphism in patients with SBC in Inner Mongolia were explored.Results:GG, GA and AA genotypes were detected in rs1801516 locus of ATM gene. Only CC genotype was detected in the rs1800054 locus of ATM gene. There was no significant difference in the distribution of genotype frequency and allele frequency between Mongolian breast cancer group and Han breast cancer group, Mongolian control group and Han control group, Mongolian breast cancer group and Mongolian control group, Han breast cancer group and Han control group (all P>0.05). Logistic regression analysis showed that allele G was the susceptibility gene of SBC in Inner Mongolia ( OR: 1.775, 95% CI: 1.04-3.03, P=0.04). ATM rs1801516 polymorphism may be associated with increased risk of breast cancer in patients with mass diameter ≤2 cm and/or without lymph node metastasis (all P<0.05). Conclusions:The polymorphism of ATM gene rs1801516 and rs1800054 may not be significantly correlated with the risk of SBC in Inner Mongolia. The rs1801516 locus may be associated with increased risk of breast cancer in patients with mass diameter ≤2 cm and/or without lymph node metastasis. Gene G may be one of the susceptible genes of SBC in Inner Mongolia.
