Animal model research on spleen and stomach diseases in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) is of great significance for elucidating the nature of diseases and syndromes and for revealing the mechanisms of action of Chinese herbal medicinals. At present, studies on classical TCM syndrome models of spleen and stomach diseases mainly focus on spleen deficiency syndrome, liver constraint syndrome, and damp-heat syndrome. Model construction is mostly based on the etiological and pathophysiological characteristics of syndrome, and model evaluation primarily involves macroscopic manifestations and physicochemical indicators. This paper summarizes the current research status of animal models integrating disease and syndrome for seven common spleen and stomach diseases, including chronic gastritis and gastric precancerous lesions, gastroesophageal reflux disease, functional dyspepsia, inflammatory bowel disease, irritable bowel syndrome, functional constipation, and functional diarrhea. The modeling methods and characteristics of disease-syndrome combined animal models for each disease are analyzed. It is proposed that future research on disease-syndrome integration in spleen and stomach diseases should move toward syste-matic, precise, and integrative development, and that interdisciplinary and cross-disciplinary research approaches should be adopted to enhance the predictive value and application efficiency of disease-syndrome combined animal models.

Aligning with the ulcerative colitis (UC) dynamic characteristics of latent pathogens, that is "remaining latent and concealed, and manifesting when triggered", and following the latent pathogen theory, it is proposed that the core pathogenesis of UC recurrence is latent damp-heat pathogen concealed internally, progressing from qi to blood level over time, and leading to qi-blood disharmony and intestinal collateral damage. Accordingly, stage-based treatment is recommended. During the active stage, it is suggested to clear damp-heat, move qi, and regulate blood using modified Gegen Qinlian Decoction(葛根芩连汤). During the remission stage, the treatment should focus on reinforcing healthy qi and venting pathogen, regulate and tonify the spleen and kidney with a self-made Jianpi Qingchang Mixture(健脾清肠合剂). These approaches may provide a reference for the clinical treatment of UC.

Background Schizophrenia patients often face high level of stigma and low level of self-esteem,significantly hindering their recovery.Mindfulness-based intervention has proven be effective in reducing stigma and improving self-esteem.However,traditional mindfulness intervention typically involve high costs and require long-term professional involvement. Objective To explore the effects of blended mindfulness interventions on stigma and self-esteem in patients with stable schizophrenia,so as to provide references for reducing stigma, enhancing self-esteem and promoting recovery. Methods Patients receiving outpatient treatment at the Third Hospital of Daqing from June 2022 to January 2023,who met the diagnostic criteria for schizophrenia in the International Classification of Diseases, tenth edition(ICD-10)and were in a stable phase, were recruited for the study(n=84).According to the random number table method, participants were randomly assigned to study group and control group, with 42 cases in each group. Both groups received treatment with the second-generation antipsychotic medications, while the study group additionally received blended mindfulness intervention for 8 weeks, with sessions lasting 45~60 minutes, three times a week. Both groups were evaluated with Five Facet Mindfulness Questionnaire(FFMQ),Internalized Stigma of Mental Illness Inventory(ISMI)and Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale(RSES)at baseline and after 8-week intervention.Covariance analysis was used to compare the FFMQ,ISMI and SES scores between two groups after 8-week intervention. Results After 8-week intervention, there were statistically significant differences between two groups in total FFMQ scores,as well as in the observation, acting with awareness,non-judgment and non-reactivity subscale scores(F=50.680,12.952,13.567,22.799,14.043,P<0.01).Statistically significant differences were observed in total ISMI scores, and in the alienation, stereotype endorsement, discrimination experience, stigma resistance and social withdrawal subscale scores(F=513.125,148.990,125.055,75.996,154.850,54.125,P<0.01).The difference in RSES scores between two groups was also statistically significant(F=19.478,P<0.01).Conclusion Blended mindfulness intervention may help improve the mindfulness and self-esteem in stable schizophrenia patients while reducing stigma.

Objective:To investigate the status of transition shock, career adaptation and professional identity among nursing interns, and to explore the mediating effect of professional identity on career adaptation and transition shock. Methods:In February 2022, 500 nursing students from 18 nursing colleges in Henan province and Shaanxi province were selected as the research subjects by convenient sampling method. General data questionnaire, Professional Identity Questionnaire of Nursing Students, Career Adaptability Scale of college students and Chinese version of Transition Impact Assessment Scale of Nursing Undergraduate Interns were used to conduct the questionnaire survey. Results:The career adaptability score of nursing intern was (133.59 ± 22.58); professional identity score was (63.35 ± 14.06); transition impact score was (45.18 ± 10.17). Transition shock was negatively correlated with career adaptation and professional identity ( r=-0.328, -0.484, both P<0.01). Occupational identity had a partial mediating effect on career adaptation and transition shock, accounting for 64.29% of the total effect. Conclusions:The transition shock of nursing interns is at medium level. Nursing educators can reduce the degree of transition shock by improving their professional identity to nursing and their own career adaptation, so as to better adapt to the professional role.

Yonsei Medical Journal 2021;62(9):858-867
Purpose:
Asthma is a serious inflammatory disease of the respiratory system in which airway smooth muscle cells (ASMCs) play a key role. This study aimed to investigate the expression of SLC26A2 in human ASMCs (HASMCs) and the regulatory mechanism of SLC26A2 in the proliferation and inflammatory factor production of HASMCs.
Materials and Methods:
We obtained the asthma-associated differential mRNA SLC26A2 by bioinformatics analysis in childhood acute asthma samples. To investigate its role in airway inflammation and airway remodeling, we treated HASMCs with plateletderived growth factor (PDGF) in an in vitro model and determined SLC26A2 expression in cells using western blotting. Cell proliferation was detected by MTT and EdU assays, and cell contractile phenotype marker proteins were measured. Cell migration and production of inflammatory factors were determined by Transwell and ELISA assays. Additionally, the upstream regulatory miRNA and LncRNA of SLC26A2 were identified by bioinformatics, luciferase reporter gene, and RIP analyses.
Results:
SLC26A2 was significantly upregulated in bioinformatics analysis of pediatric asthma-related sample. PDGF treatment up-regulated SLC26A2 expression in HASMCs, whereas the knockdown of SLC26A2 inhibited PDGF-stimulated proliferation, migration, and production of inflammatory factors, and enhanced the expression of cell contractile phenotype marker proteins in HASMCs. Luciferase reporter and RIP experiments validated that NEAT1 targeted miR-9-5p to regulate SLC26A2, thereby influencing the biological function of PDGF-induced HASMCs.
Conclusion
These findings indicate that NEAT1-mediated miR-9-5p targeting of SLC26A2 inhibits the PDGF-induced proliferation and production of inflammatory factors in HASMCs. These findings highlight potential therapeutic targets for asthma and airway inflammation.
