Objective:Invasive pulmonary mucormycosis(PM)is a rare but highly lethal opportunistic infection.COVID-19 associated mucormycosis(CAM)is difficult to diagnose, often leading to misdiagnosis or missed diagnosis, and has poor treatment outcomes. This study reports a case of successfully treated CAM and explores optimized diagnostic and therapeutic strategies. Methods:A retrospective analysis of the diagnosis and treatment process in a 50-year-old female patient with COVID-19 associated with diabetic ketoacidosis(DKA)and invasive pulmonary mucormycosis was conducted.Combined with a literature review, the therapeutic efficacy of local bronchoscopic instillation in conjunction with systemic treatment using liposomal Amphotericin B(L-AmB)was specifically evaluated. Results:The patient was rapidly diagnosed with Rhizopus microsporus infection through metagenomic next-generation sequencing(mNGS).She subsequently received antifungal treatment with intravenous L-AmB combined with local bronchoscopic instillation. After treatment, the patient was significantly improved, with imaging studies showing gradual absorption of the lesions.Follow-up at six months revealed no recurrence.A literature review suggests that early diagnosis and multimodal therapy are key to improving survival rates in patients with CAM.Conclusion:mNGS can significantly improve the early diagnosis rate of CAM.The combination of local and systemic treatment with L-AmB is valuable in improving prognosis.Early diagnosis, multimodal antifungal therapy, and individualized management are key to increasing the survival rate of patients with CAM.

Pancreatic cancer is characterized by significant drug resistance, and despite continuous advancements in treatment regimens, the 5-year survival rate of patients remains low.The nuclear factor-κB(NF-κB)signaling pathway, frequently mutated in tumors, has been identified as a critical factor in triggering drug resistance.Multiple studies have demonstrated that strategies targeting NF-κB signaling transduction exhibit promising outcomes in pancreatic cancer treatment. Therefore, exploring the relationship between the NF-κB signaling pathway and drug resistance in pancreatic cancer has become a research hotspot in pancreatic cancer treatment. This review summarizes recent advances in the relationship between NF-κB signaling pathway and tumor drug resistance,as well as its role in pancreatic cancer treatment.Specifically, the mechanisms by which the NF-κB signaling pathway mediates drug resistance in pancreatic cancer are elaborated from two perspectives:chemotherapy and immunotherapy, aiming to provide insights for pancreatic cancer treatment and future research.

Human cytomegalovirus (HCMV) poses a significant risk of neural damage during pregnancy. As the most prevalent intrauterine infectious agent in low- and middle-income countries, HCMV disrupts the development of neural stem cells, leading to fetal malformations and abnormal structural and physiological functions in the fetal brain. This review summarizes the current understanding of how HCMV infection dysregulates the Wnt signaling pathway to induce fetal malformations and discusses current management strategies.

The cobalt sulphide nickel ternary material(NiCo2S4)prepared by hydrothermal method in this work was combined with multi-walled carbon nanotubes(MWCNT)for constructing an electrochemical sensor for quantitative detection of rutin. The morphology and crystal of the electrochemical materials were characterized by scanning electron microscopy and X-ray diffractometer, and the electrochemical behavior of the glassy carbon electrode(GCE)modified with NiCo2S4/MWCNT composites was investigated. The experimental results showed that the electrochemical redox process of two electrons and two protons occurred on the surface of modified electrode NiCo2S4/MWCNT/GCE.Under the optimized conditions, the linear range for detection of rutin by square-wave voltammetry(SWV)using this sensor was 0.06-14.8 μmol/L and the detection limit was 14.3 nmol/L.The electrochemical sensor was sensitive, simple and low-cost,with good reproducibility and reliable stability, and could be used for detection of rutin in real samples such as compound rutin tablets and color chrysanthemi tablets, with spiked recoveries of 99.5%-102.0%.

The pathogenesis of the nephrotic syndrome is complex and the pathological types are diverse, so the minor symptoms in its early phases are difficult to detect. Renal biopsy is the gold indicator for the diagnosis of renal pathology and progression, but poor patient compliance shows, and the optimal treatment time is often delayed. Therefore, the discovery of biomarkers for early diagnosis and disease progression monitoring is of great clinical significance. In this study, doxorubicin-injured podocyte models were used to simulate human kidney disease at different stages of progression. LC-MS-based metabolomic technology combined with statistical methods was used to screen and identify the potential biomarkers associated with early injury or progression of podocytes. The results of cell viability, apoptosis tests and podocyte structural protein analysis showed that the model was successfully constructed, and the degree of podocyte injury was significantly different between the two modeling methods. Objective: To evaluate the effect of inactivated SARS-CoV-2 vaccine on the clinical outcomes of patients infected with the Omicron variant. Methods: A total of 1 403 Omicron-infected patients admitted to 20 designated hospitals in Guangdong Province from January 1 to May 31, 2022, were selected as subjects in this study. A case-control study was conducted to collect the demographic data, underlying disease, vaccination status, last exposure date, gene sequencing of infected strains and clinical outcomes from the China Disease Prevention and Control Information System and Guangdong telemedicine platform. Pneumonia (common, severe and critical) and non-pneumonia (asymptomatic and mild) were selected as the case group and control group. The effect of inactivated SARS-CoV-2 vaccine on the clinical outcomes of patients infected with the Omicron variant was analyzed. Results: The median age [M (Q1, Q3)] of the subjects was 36 (27-47) years old, with males accounting for 52.25% (733 cases). The main outcome of the infection was non-pneumonia, accounting for 92.09% (1 292 cases), and the duration [M (Q1, Q3)] of the disease was 18 (14-22) days. There were 134 (9.55%), 39 (2.78%), 403 (28.72%), 437 (31.15%) and 390 (27.80%) cases with no or partial vaccination, within 90 days of primary vaccination, over 90 days of primary vaccination, within 90 days of booster vaccination and over 90 days of booster vaccination, respectively. Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that after adjusting for gender, age, underlying disease, and location of the report, compared with those with no or partial vaccination, the risk of developing pneumonia was lower in those with over 90 days of primary vaccination, within 90 days of booster vaccination and over 90 days of booster vaccination [OR (95%CI) values were 0.52 (0.28-0.98), 0.39 (0.21-0.73) and 0.40 (0.21-0.77), respectively]. Cox proportional hazard regression model analysis showed that after adjusting for gender, age, underlying disease and location of the report, the duration of the disease was shorter in those who received booster vaccinated for more than 90 days compared with that in those who had no or partial vaccination [HR (95%CI): 1.26 (1.03-1.55)]. Conclusion: The inactivated SARS-CoV-2 vaccine affects the clinical outcomes of patients infected with the Omicron variant.
