Objective:To establish an HPLC method to simultaneously determine the contents of 7 components, including Cardol triene, Cardol diene, (8'Z,11'Z,14'Z)-5-(Heptadeca-8',11',14'-trienyl)benzene-1,3-diol, Alkylresorcinol B, 5-(8'Z,11'Z-heptadecadienyl)-1,3-benzenediol, Adipostatin A, and 5-(11'Z-heptadecenyl)-resorcinol in Embelia laeta (L.) Mez. Methods:Chromatographic column was Arcus EP-C18(4.6 mm×250 mm, 5 μm); mobile phase was methanol-water (90∶10); column temperature was 25 ℃; flow rate was 1 ml/min; detection wavelength was 220 nm; the injection volume was 10 μl.Results:The 7 compounds in Embelia laeta (L.) Mez showed good linear relationships, which sample recovery rate ranges from 97.69%- 100.62%. The average contents of the 7 components from 9 origins were 3.099 9, 6.246 3, 9.942 8, 4.093 7, 2.180 3, 0.960 2, 1.855 9 mg/g. Conclusion:The established HPLC method for simultaneous determination of the contents of 7 components in Embelia laeta (L.) Mez is feasible, which can provide references for further development and utilization of Embelia laeta (L.) Mez.

Objective To assess the effect of psychological group on improving the learning attitude of interns in the pediatric clinical practice. Methods This study included 67 medical students who enrolled during 2012 to 2013 and had done the clinical pediatrics in the Second Affiliated Hospital of Shantou University Medical College. The students carried out pediatric clinical practice as requested.Based on the practice of pediatric practice, the psychological group counseling was conducted by voluntary participation. Each psychological group consisted of 5 or 6 students and performed once a week. Each time of psychological group lasted for 1.5 hours and 6 times in total. The students were divided into intervention group and non-intervention group according to whether they participated in psychological group. Each student filled in the Pediatric Clinical Internship Attitude Assessment Form and the College Student Personality Questionnaire at the first week and the last week of pediatric clinical practice.SPSS 17.0 was applied to conduct Chi square test and t test. Results There were 33 students in the intervention group and 40 students in the non-intervention group. The effective rate of questionnaires for intervention group and non-intervention group were 100% and 85%,respectively.The mental state of pediatric interns between two groups was not different before and after the pediatric clinical practice (P>0.05).Before pediatric clinical practice, the learning attitude score between two groups was not different [(83.82 ± 8.39) vs.(84.39 ± 8.29),t=-0.28,P=0.781].After pediatric clinical practice, the learning attitude score of pediatric interns who used psychological group teaching model was better than that of pediatric interns who used traditional teaching model [(88.91 ± 7.40) vs.(75.03 ± 11.19),t=-5.969,P=0.000].Conclusion Psychological group can help medical students to develop empathy toward sick children and their parents, and then improve their learning attitude in pediatric practice. The results of this study can provide a preliminary basis for the popularization of psychological group in the whole process of medical internship.

Objective To compare the efficacy and safety of two kinds of homemade sirolimus-eluting stents (Firebird and Excel) for treatment of acute ST segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) in patients who underwent percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). Methods The 249 consecutive patients with STEMI who underwent PCI were randomly divided into two groups: Excel group (n=136) and Firebird group (n=113). They were followed up for 6-24 months, and coronary angiography was reviewed average 12 months later. The primary endpoints were major adverse cardiac events, including death, reinfarction and target vessel revascularization. The second endpoints included late luminal loss and restenosis 12 months after treatment. Results There were no significant differences in baseline data, coronary arterial lesion before operation, and immediateness condition after PCI between the two groups (all P>0.05). Within follow-up, there were 2 (1.47%) death cases and 1 (0.88%) death case, 1 (0.74%) and 1 (0.88%) nonfatal myocardial infarction case, 2 (1.47%) and 2 (1.77%) target vessel revascularization cases in the two groups respectively (all P>0.05). There were no significant differences in late luminal loss of in-stent and in-segment, the rates of in-stent restenosis, in-segment restenosis and stent thrombosis, the in-stent minimal lumen diameter and in-segment minimal lumen diameter between the two groups (all P>0.05). Conclusions The two kinds of homemade sirolimus-eluting stents may have similar efficacy and safety in patients with STEMI treated with primary PCI.

Objective:To evaluate the difference of vestibular compensation between triple semicircular canal occlusion(TCO) and labyrinthectomy(LE)in guinea pigs.Material and Methods:TCO was performed on 8 guinea pigs, while LE was did on 7 guinea pigs.Behavior and ENG were recorded in detail preoperatively and repeatedly up to one month postoperatively according to the experiment design. Results:There was spontaneous nystagmus towards the nonoperated side on the first postoperative day and nystagmus absence during sinusoidal angular acceleration stimuli on the operated side was observed in all the animals. All the animals displayed head tilt towards the operated side (right)and an unsteady gait towards the right along the vertical axis after surgery, while the animals performed LE rolled towards the operated side.On the 3rd postoperative day, faint nystagmus appeared on the operated side, but the left and right nystagmus was significantly asymmetrical. The left and right nystagmus still remained asymmetrical on the 5th and 10th day postoperatively. From the 15th postoperative day, left and right nystagmus returned symmetrical in the animals performed TCO,while left and right nystagmus returned symmetrical only at the pendular amplitude of 120°,150°,180°,in the animals performed LE up to 30th postoperative day. There was a significant reduction of nystagmus to the operated side at the Pendular amplitude of 60°and 90° one month after the LE and there was 3 animals still displayed head tilt towards the operated side. Conclusion: the animals compensated faster and more completely after TCO than LE.
