ObjectiveTo observe the clinical effectiveness and safety of Qingfei Shenshi Decoction （清肺渗湿汤） combined with western medicine for patients with bronchial asthma of heat wheezing syndrome， and to explore its potential mechanism of action. MethodsEighty-six participants with bronchial asthma of heat wheezing syndrome were randomly divided into treatment group and control group， each group with 43 participants. The control group received conventional western medicine， and the treatment group was additionally administered Qingfei Shenshi Decoction orally on the basis of the control group， 1 dose per day. Both groups were treated for 14 days. The primary outcome measure was clinical effectiveness； secondary outcome measures included traditional Chinese medicine （TCM） syndrome score， asthma control test （ACT） score， pulmonary function indices such as forced expiratory volume in 1 second （FEV₁）， forced vital capacity （FVC）， peak expiratory flow （PEF）， serum inflammatory factor levels including interleukin-4 （IL-4）， tumour necrosis factor-α （TNF-α）， and high-sensitivity C-reactive protein （hs-CRP）， and immune function indices including CD3⁺， CD4⁺， CD8⁺， CD4⁺/CD8⁺. All outcome measures were evaluated before and after treatment. Vital signs were monitored， and electrocardiography， blood routine， urine routine， liver function， and renal function tests were performed before and after treatment. Adverse events and reactions during the study were recorded. ResultsA total of 80 patients completed the trial with 40 in each group. The total clinical effective rate of the treatment group was 97.5% （39/40）， which was significantly higher than that of the control group （85.0%， 34/40， P＜0.05）. After treatment， both groups showed decreased TCM syndrome scores， IL-4， TNF-α， hs-CRP， and CD8⁺ levels， as well as increased ACT scores， CD3⁺， CD4⁺， CD4⁺/CD8⁺， FEV₁， FVC， and PEF levels （P＜0.05 or P＜0.01）. Moreover， the improvements in these indices were more significant in the treatment group than in the control group （P＜0.05 or P＜0.01）. No significant abnormalities in safety indicators were observed in either group， and no adverse events or reactions occurred. ConclusionQingfei Shenshi Decoction combined with conventional western medicine for patients with bronchial asthma of heat wheezing syndrome can effectively improve the clinical symptoms， pulmonary function， and clinical effectiveness， with good safety. Its mechanism may be related to reducing inflammatory factor levels and regulating T lymphocyte subsets to improve immune function.

ObjectiveTo delineate the species composition structure and seasonal density fluctuations of mosquito populations in Yangpu District, Shanghai, and to provide scientific insights for the prevention and control of vector-borne diseases. MethodsA total of 12 monitoring sites from different habitats were selected to conduct adult mosquito monitoring using the CO₂ trap light method during 2019‒2023, elucidating the temporal and spatial distribution and change patterns of mosquito populations and densities in Yangpu District. ResultsFrom 2019 to 2023, a total of 1 321 female mosquitoes was captured, with an overall density of 0.16 case·(lamp·h)^-1. The species identified were predominantly Culex pipiens pallens (87.28%), followed by Aedes albopictus (12.64%), and Culex tritaeniorhynchus (0.08%). Seasonal distribution showed a typical single-peak pattern, with June‒August being the peak period. In terms of habitat distribution, the highest mosquito population density was found in residential areas [0.18 case·(lamp·h)^-1], followed by hospitals [0.13 case·(lamp·h)^-1] and parks [0.11 case·(lamp·h)^-1]. Culex pipiens pallens was the dominant species in all habitats, with a density of [0.14 case·(lamp·h)^-1]. Notably, there was a statistically significant difference in the composition of Culex pipiens pallens and Aedes albopictus among the three habitats mentioned(χ²=38.396, P<0.001; χ²=36.790, P<0.001). The mosquito density of the 12 streets from high to low is Changhai Road, Pingliang, Yinhang, Xinjiangwan City, Yanji, Daqiao, Wujiaochang, Kongjiang, Changbai New Village, Jiangpu, Siping and Dinghai.The distribution of mosquito density was relatively balanced across different communities (H=1.559, P=1.000). ConclusionThe results of CO₂ trap light monitoring reveals a relatively low density of adult mosquitoes in Yangpu District, with Culex pipiens pallens as the predominant species, and summer being the peak season for mosquitoes. In light of the threat of mosquito-borne diseases such as dengue fever, more effective and evidence-based mosquito control strategies, aligning with the distribution and behavioral patterns of mosquitoes, should be developed.

This study aimed to characterize and identify the non-volatile components in aqueous and ethanolic extracts of the stems and leaves of Rhododendron tomentosum by using sensitive and efficient ultra-performance liquid chromatography-quadrupole-time of flight mass spectrometry(UHPLC-Q-TOF-MS) combined with a self-built information database. By comparing with reference compounds, analyzing fragment ion information, searching relevant literature, and using a self-built information database, 118 compounds were identified from the aqueous and ethanolic extracts of R. tomentosum, including 35 flavonoid glycosides, 15 phenolic glycosides, 12 flavonoids, 7 phenolic acids, 7 phenylethanol glycosides, 6 tannins, 6 phospholipids, 5 coumarins, 5 monoterpene glycosides, 6 triterpenes, 3 fatty acids, and 11 other types of compounds. Among them, 102 compounds were reported in R. tomentosum for the first time, and 36 compounds were identified by comparing them with reference compounds. The chemical components in the ethanolic and aqueous extracts of R. tomentosum leaves and stems showed slight differences, with 84 common chemical components accounting for 71.2% of the total 118 compounds. This study systematically characterized and identified the non-volatile chemical components in the ethanolic and aqueous extracts of R. tomentosum for the first time. The findings provide a reference for active ingredient research, quality control, and product development of R. tomentosum.

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the characteristics of Vitamin D (VitD) and bone metabolism in patients with knee osteoarthritis (KOA) concurrent with osteoporosis (OP). METHODS: A retrospective analysis was performed on 240 patients who were admitted to the orthopedics department between March 2019 and March 2024. Patients were stratified into four distinct groups according to their respective disease categories.There were 90 patients in the simple KOA group, comprising 13 males and 77 females, age ranged from 50 to 91 years old with an average of (68.48±8.96) years old. There were 90 patients in the simple OP group, comprising 7 males and 83 females, age ranged from 52 to 88 years old with an average of (69.60±8.94 )years old. There were 30 patients in the KOA with OP group, comprising 1 male and 29 females, age ranged from 51 to 91 years old with an average of(69.03±7.93) years old. There were 30 patients in the physical examination group, comprising 5 males and 25 females, age ranged from 53 to 79 years old with an average of(64.93±6.51) years old. The general data and the levels of osteocalcin (OC), β-CrossLaps, parathyroid hormone(PTH) and VitD in each group were observed. RESULTS: The level of VitD in KOA with OP group (19.62±10.38) ng·ml^-1 and OP group (20.65±10.50) ng·ml^-1 was lower than that in physical examination group (27.46±8.00) ng·ml^-1 and KOA group (24.01±9.11) ng·ml^-1 (P<0.05). There were significant differences in β- CrossLaps and PTH levels among the four groups (P<0.001, P=0.019, respectively), while there was no significant difference in OC levels (P=0.763). Compared with the two simple disease groups, the KOA with OP group had higher levels of β - CrossLaps(0.81±0.30) ng·ml^-1 (P<0.001). There were significant differences in β-CrossLaps and PTH between the simple KOA group(0.54±0.22) ng·ml^-1, (46.03±18.08) pg·ml^-1 and the physical examination group (0.44±0.19) ng·ml^-1, (36.65±9.63) pg·mL^-1(P=0.038;P=0.006). There was a significant difference in PTH between the OP group(43.85±14.30) ng·ml-1, and the physical examination group, P=0.004. There was a significant difference in Kallgren-Lawrence grading between KOA with OP group and KOA group (P=0.006). Within KOA with OP group, the differences of β-CrossLaps and VitD levels among different K-L grades were statistically significant (P=0.016). The level of OC, β-CrossLaps and PTH within KOA with OP group was significantly different at different VitD levels (P=0.013, P=0.033, P=0.046). CONCLUSION Patients with KOA complicated by OP exhibit greater disturbances in bone metabolism and reduced VitD levels, particularly reflected by elevated β-CrossLaps. These findings underscore the importance of early monitoring of bone turnover and VitD supplementation in advanced-stage KOA with bone loss.

OBJECTIVE: To explore and analyze the clinical efficacy of robotic-assisted versus traditional total hip arthroplasty. METHODS: A total of 186 patients with end-stage hip joint diseases treated from January 2023 to April 2025 were selected as the research subjects. Among them, 85 patients were screened out using propensity score matching and divided into two groups according to different treatment methods:manual total hip arthroplasty (mTHA) group (mTHA group) and robotic-assisted total hip arthroplasty (rTHA) group (rTHA group). In mTHA group, there were 50 patients, including 18 males and 32 females, age ranged from 37 to 78 years old with a mean of (60.12±10.93) years old;body mass index (BMI) ranged from 16.6 to 32.0 kg·m^-2 with an average of (23.98±3.78) kg·m^-2;27 cases involved the left hip, and 23 cases involved the right hip. In the rTHA group, there were 35 patients, including 14 males and 21 females, age ranged from 31 to 76 years old with an average of (57.14±12.18) years old;the BMI ranged from 17.1 to 33.0 kg·m^-2 with a mean of (22.76±2.54) kg·m^-2;13 cases involved the left hip, and 22 cases involved the right hip. The following parameters were analyzed and compared between the two groups:acetabular anteversion angle, acetabular abduction angle, difference in combined offset, difference in lower limb length, proportion of acetabula located in the Lewinnek safe zone after surgery, operation time, visual analogue scale (VAS) score, Western Ontario and McMaster Universities osteoarthritis index (WOMAC) score, and Harris hip score (HHS). RESULTS: All patients were followed up for 3 to 9 months, with an average of (6.8±1.3) months. In rTHA group and mTHA group, the abduction angles were (40.73±4.62)° and (40.95±4.71)° respectively;the differences in combined offset were (0.42±0.28) mm and (0.60±0.23) mm respectively;the WOMAC scores were(20.9±5.4) and (20.2±4.6) respectively;and the VAS were (1.1±1.0) and (1.0±0.8) respectively. There were no statistically significant differences in the above indicators between the two groups (P>0.05). However, statistically significant differences were observed between the two groups in the following aspects(P<0.05):the differences in lower limb length were (3.17±0.15) mm and (5.28±0.47) mm respectively;the postoperative acetabular anteversion angles were(22.84±2.83)° and (25.72±3.29)° respectively;the HHS were (80.7±5.5) and (74.8±6.3) respectively;and the operation times were (148.20±46.82) minutes and (81.84±18.76) minutes respectively. CONCLUSION Robot-assisted total hip arthroplasty demonstrates superior implant accuracy and improved early functional recovery compared with traditional manual THA. Nevertheless, it is associated with significantly longer operation time. Long-term prosthesis survival rate requires further follow-up verification.

Extensive studies have identified potential adverse effects on semen quality of obesity, based on body mass index, but the association between body fat distribution, a more relevant indicator for obesity, and semen quality remains less clear. We conducted a longitudinal study of 4304 sperm donors from the Guangdong Provincial Human Sperm Bank (Guangzhou, China) during 2017-2021. A body composition analyzer was used to measure total and local body fat percentage for each participant. Generalized estimating equations were employed to assess the association between body fat percentage and sperm count, motility, and morphology. We estimated that each 10% increase in total body fat percentage (estimated change [95% confidence interval, 95% CI]) was significantly associated with a 0.18 × 10 6 (0.09 × 10 6 -0.27 × 10 6 ) ml and 12.21 × 10 6 (4.52 × 10 6 -19.91 × 10 6 ) reduction in semen volume and total sperm count, respectively. Categorical analyses and exposure-response curves showed that the association of body fat distribution with semen volume and total sperm count was stronger at higher body fat percentages. In addition, the association still held among normal weight and overweight participants. We observed similar associations for upper limb, trunk, and lower limb body fact distributions. In conclusion, we found that a higher body fat distribution was significantly associated with lower semen quality (especially semen volume) even in men with a normal weight. These findings provide useful clues in exploring body fat as a risk factor for semen quality decline and add to evidence for improving semen quality for those who are expected to conceive.

Receptor-interacting protein kinase 1 (RIPK1) plays an essential role in regulating the necroptosis and apoptosis in cerebral ischemia-reperfusion (I/R) injury. However, the regulation of RIPK1 kinase activity after cerebral I/R injury remains largely unknown. In this study, we found the downregulation of protein arginine methyltransferase 1 (PRMT1) was induced by cerebral I/R injury, which negatively correlated with the activation of RIPK1. Mechanistically, we proved that PRMT1 directly interacted with RIPK1 and catalyzed its asymmetric dimethylarginine, which then blocked RIPK1 homodimerization and suppressed its kinase activity. Moreover, pharmacological inhibition or genetic ablation of PRMT1 aggravated I/R injury by promoting RIPK1-mediated necroptosis and apoptosis, while PRMT1 overexpression protected against I/R injury by suppressing RIPK1 activation. Our findings revealed the molecular regulation of RIPK1 activation and demonstrated PRMT1 would be a potential therapeutic target for the treatment of ischemic stroke.

OBJECTIVE: To construct a longitudinal trajectory model of arterial oxygen tension (PaO₂) within 24 hours after cardiac arrest (CA). METHODS: A retrospective cohort study was conducted. CA patients admitted to the ICU from 2014 to 2015 were selected from the eICU Collaborative Research Database (eICU-CRD). Data about patients' demographic characteristics, history of comorbidities, laboratory test indicators within 24 hours of intensive care unit (ICU) admission [including all PaO₂ data and arterial carbon dioxide tension (PaCO₂)], vasopressor use, and clinical outcomes were extracted from the database. The primary outcome variable was all-cause in-hospital mortality. Group-based trajectory model (GBTM) were built based on the changes in PaO₂ within 24 hours of ICU admission, and patients were grouped according to their initial static PaO₂ values upon ICU admission. Multivariable adjusted Poisson regression analysis was used to compare the in-hospital mortality risk among patients in different PaO₂ dynamic trajectory groups. Sensitivity analyses were performed using multivariable logistic regression and multivariable adjusted Poisson regression without imputation of missing values. RESULTS: A total of 3 866 CA patients were included. Three GBTM trajectory groups were identified based on PaO₂ changes within 24 hours of ICU admission: Group-1 (low level first increased then decreased, 148 cases), Group-2 (sustained low level, 3 040 cases), and Group-3 (first high level then decreased, 678 cases). Significant differences were found among the three groups in age, body weight, maximum serum potassium, maximum PaCO₂, minimum hemoglobin (Hb), vasopressor use, total hospitalization time, ICU stay, and hospital mortality. After incorporating variables with significant differences into the multivariable adjusted Poisson regression model, results showed that compared to Group-2 patients, patients in Group-1 and Group-3 had an increased risk of all-cause in-hospital mortality [Group-1 adjusted relative risk (aRR) = 1.20, 95% confidence interval (95%CI) was 1.02-1.41; Group-3 aRR = 1.11, 95%CI was 1.01-1.24]. Based on initial static PaO₂ values at ICU admission, patients were divided into four groups: PaO₂ < 100 mmHg (1 mmHg = 0.133 kPa; 1 217 cases), PaO₂ 100-200 mmHg (569 cases), PaO₂ 201-300 mmHg (547 cases), and PaO₂ > 300 mmHg (1 082 cases). Multivariable adjusted Poisson regression analysis indicated a significant upward trend in aRR for the latter three groups compared to the PaO₂ < 100 mmHg group. Sensitivity analyses revealed that compared to Group-2, patients in Group-1 and Group-3 had a significantly increased risk of all-cause in-hospital mortality (both P < 0.05). CONCLUSIONS Within 24 hours after return of spontaneous circulation in CA patients, PaO₂ exhibits different dynamic trajectories, and patients with hyperoxia have an increased risk of in-hospital mortality.

Objective To investigate the status of population dynamics and distribution changes of Aedes aegypti in Guangdong Province.Methods Continuous monitoring was conducted from May 2018 to July 2024 in Wushi Town and Qishui Town,Leizhou City,Zhanjiang City,Guangdong Province.Additionally,a survey of the distribution of Ae.aegypti along the Leizhou Peninsula coast was carried out.Results The density of Ae.aegypti in Zhanjiang showed a gradual decline from 2018 to 2024.The last detection of adult Ae.aegypti in Wushi Town was in September 2021,and the last larva was found in October 2023.No Ae.aegypti was detected in Qishui Town during surveys from 2021 to 2024.A survey of 18 coastal villages in the Leizhou Peninsula revealed no detections of Ae.aegypti.Conclusions This study provides a basis for understanding the distribution and population density fluctuations of Ae.aegypti,assessing its invasion risk,and scientifically conducting relevant prevention and control efforts.

Objective To investigate the effects of sufentanil on myocardial cells and renal function in rat models of non-stopping coronary artery bypass grafting.Methods SD rats were randomly divided into sham group(only thoracectomy without coronary artery ligation),model group(ischemia perfusion model was constructed),experimental-L group(ischemia perfusion model+0.5 μg·kg-1 sufentanil)and experimental-H group(ischemia perfusion model+1μg·kg-1 sufentanil).The mice were sacrificed 6 h after operation.The expressions of tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α),interleukin-1 β(IL-1 β)and interleukin-6(IL-6)in cardiomyocytes and renal cells were detected by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA).The expressions of apoptosis-related proteins in cardiomyocytes and renal cells were detected by Western blot.Serum renal function was detected with serum renal function kit.Results The expression levels of TNF-α in myocardial cells were(50.41±6.03),(136.61±21.73),(102.36±12.84)and(74.21±16.32)pg·mg-1 in sham group,model group,experimental-L group and experimental-H group,respectively;the expression levels of cysteinyl aspartate specific proteinase-3(Caspase-3)were 0.31±0.02,1.26±0.18,0.83±0.12 and 0.67±0.08,respectively;blood urea nitrogen(BUN)levels were(5.94±1.12),(20.04±5.36),(16.84±4.19)and(10.96±3.64)μmol·L-1,respectively;the expression levels of TNF-α in renal cells were(146.49±16.13),(1 023.82±34.69),(841.65±49.66)and(324.84±48.93)pg·mg-1,respectively;the expression levels of Caspase-3 in renal cells were 0.48±0.06,1.15±0.17,0.96±0.06 and 0.74±0.07,respectively.The difference between experimental-H group and sham group,model group and experimental-L group were statistically significant(all P＜0.05).Conclusion Sufentanil can significantly reduce the production of inflammatory factors and the expression of apoptotic proteins in rat cardiomyocytes,significantly improve the renal function of rats,and significantly reduce the production of inflammatory factors and the expression of apoptotic proteins in rat renal cells.
