OBJECTIVES:
This study aims to evaluate the clinical effect of low-energy semiconductor laser treatment on the promotion of wound healing after maxillofacial fracture surgery.
METHODS:
A prospective randomized controlled study was conducted. Patients with maxillofacial fractures who were hospitalized in the Department of Trauma and Plastic Surgery, West China Hospital of Stomatology, Sichuan University, from August 2021 to June 2023 were selected as the study subjects and randomly divided into experimental and control groups. The experimental group was treated with a low-energy semiconductor laser once a day for six consecutive days after daily routine dressing change on the first day after surgery. The control group only underwent routine dressing change treatment and did not receive low-energy semiconductor laser treatment. Wound healing times, wound healing conditions, modified Stony Brook scar evaluation scale (mSBSES) scores, pain indices, and wound infection rates were compared between the two groups.
RESULTS:
A total of 211 patients were included in this study. A total of 104 and 107 cases comprised the experimental and control groups, respectively. A total of 128 males and 83 females were included. After low-energy semiconductor laser treatment, the facial skin wound healing time of the experimental group was found to be significantly shorter than that of the control group (P<0.05). Moreover, the wound grade A healing rate of the experimental group was higher than that of the control group on the seventh day after surgery (P<0.05). Among postoperative facial skin wound evaluation indices, the mSBSES scores of the experimental group at all observation points were higher than those of the control group (P<0.05), and the scores of the experimental group were higher than those of the control group in terms of wound width reduction, height reduction, color lightening, and incision line loss (P<0.05). In postoperative wound pain evaluation, the pain index of the experimental group after low-energy semiconductor laser treatment was significantly lower than that of the control group (P<0.05). No significant difference in wound infection rates was found between the two groups (P>0.05).
CONCLUSIONS
For facial skin wounds in maxillofacial fracture surgery, low-energy semiconductor laser treatment can effectively promote wound healing, improve wound healing quality, fade scars, and relieve wound pain.

Journal of Practical Obstetrics and Gynecology 2025;41(9):776-781
Objective:To establish a cutoff level of anti-Müllerian hormone(AMH)which could help with the di-agnosis of polycystic ovary syndrome(PCOS)in adults, and to analyze the risk factors of metabolic syndrome(MS).Methods:A retrospectively analyzed 426 PCOS patients(PCOS group)and 205 healthy controls aged 20-39 years from the Health Checkup Center of the Gynecological Endocrine Center,Hunan Maternal and Child Health Hospital from January 2021 to December 2023.AMH diagnostic validity was estimated by receiver operating characteristic(ROC)curves.Patients were subgrouped into PCOS combined metabolic syndrome group(MS-PCOS)and the uncomplicated MS group(UMS-PCOS)according to metabolic status.Multivariate Logistic regression analysis was performed to determine the risk factors for MS in PCOS patients. Results:The serum AMH level was higher in PCOS group than that in the control group(8.42±3.71 ng/ml vs.2.99±0.94 ng/ml,P<0.001).AMH cutoff for the diagnosis of PCOS was determined as≥4.87 ng/ml on ROC analysis, and the area under the curve is 0.981 with 92.7%sensitivity and 94.6%specificity.The prevalence of MS was 18.3%(78 ca-ses)in PCOS group.Subgroup analysis showed that MS-PCOS patients had higher waist circumference,BMI,fasting glucose,dyslipidemia,hypertension(BP>130/85 mmHg),and hormone related index androgen level, but lower AMH vs.UMS-PCOS.Multivariate Logistic regression analysis identified insulin resistance(OR 39.17,95%CI 9.33-164.48),BMI ≥24 kg/m2(OR 3.72,95%CI 1.86-7.45),and hyperandrogenism(OR 2.56,95%CI 1.34-4.89)as independent risk factors of MS.AMH was negatively associated with MS,a single-unit increase in AMH was associated with an 17%decrease in odds of MS(OR 0.83,95%CI 0.73-0.95,P=0.006).Conclusions:Serum AMH levels were significantly higher in adult PCOS patients, with an optimal diagnostic threshold of 4.87 ng/ml.Hyperandrogenism and low AMH levels may predict a higher risk of MS,in addition to metabolism-related factors.

Objective:To explore the effect of triple pre-rehabilitation strategy on improving nutritional status, negative emotions and quality of life in breast cancer patients undergoing neoadjuvant chemotherapy, so as to provide reference for clinical practice. Methods:A quasi experimental research was adopted. A total of 133 patients who underwent neoadjuvant chemotherapy for breast cancer at Gansu Provincial Cancer Hospital between December 2023 and December 2024 were recruited as research participants. Patients were stratified into the experimental group ( n = 66) and control group ( n = 67) according to their admission sequence. The control group received routine health guidance, while the experimental group was provided with a triple pre-rehabilitation strategy based on the control group. The serum albumin, body mass index, anxiety, depression scores and quality of life scores were compared between the two groups before intervention, 3 weeks after intervention and 2 weeks post-surgery. Results:Totally 64 patients in each group completed the study. The age of the experimental group was (49.50 ± 10.46) years, and that of the control group was (50.42 ± 12.50) years. All of them were females. After a 3-week intervention, the serum albumin levels in the experimental group were (42.62 ± 1.56) g/L, compared to (40.50 ± 1.31) g/L 2 weeks post-surgery. In the control group, these values were (40.98 ± 1.35) g/L and (40.00 ± 1.67) g/L, respectively. The differences between groups were statistically significant ( t = -6.38, -1.89, both P<0.05). Additionally, body mass index of the experimental group was (24.02 ± 1.35) kg/m 2 after the 3-week intervention and (23.48 ± 1.72) kg/m 2 2 weeks post-surgery, which were significantly higher than those of the control group (22.98 ± 1.72) kg/m 2 and (22.50 ± 1.31) kg/m 2, respectively ( t = - 3.81, - 3.61, both P<0.05). The anxiety scores in the experimental group were (6.00 ± 2.09) of 3 weeks after intervention and (7.00 ± 2.62) 2 weeks post-surgery, both of which were significantly lower than those in the control group (7.00 ± 2.26) and (8.00 ± 2.76), with statistically significant differences ( t = 2.60, 2.10, both P<0.05). Additionally, the depression scores in the experimental group were (5.00 ± 2.20) of 3 weeks after intervention and (6.00 ± 2.40) 2 weeks post-surgery, which were also significantly lower than those in the control group (6.00 ± 2.02) and (7.00 ± 2.09), with statistically significant differences ( t = 2.68, 2.52, both P<0.05). Furthermore, the quality of life scores in the experimental group were (94.84 ± 18.00) of 3 weeks after intervention and (84.02 ± 17.13) 2 weeks post-surgery, which were significantly higher than those in the control group (82.00 ± 18.75) and (72.03 ± 17.10), with statistically significant differences ( t = - 3.95, - 3.96, both P<0.05). Conclusions:The triple pre-rehabilitation strategy plays a crucial role in mitigating the nutritional risk for breast cancer patients undergoing neoadjuvant chemotherapy, alleviating their negative emotions, and enhancing their quality of life. This approach is anticipated to serve as a valuable reference for preoperative health guidance tailored to breast cancer patients undergoing neoadjuvant chemotherapy.
