Effective management of postoperative pain following oral surgery is crucial for enhancing patient care quality. Given the high sensitivity of the oral region and its complex neural network, managing postoperative pain poses significant clinical challenges. This review assessed the efficacy of pharmacological treatments methods (such as non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, acetaminophen and corticosteroids) and non-pharmacological treatment strategies (such as physical therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, and psychological support), and discussed how these methods can be synergistically optimized for pain management. Additionally, this paper explored the challenges associated with implementing these strategies, including the standardization of pain assessment, the ongoing education of nursing staff, and the importance of interdisciplinary team collaboration. By integrating these approaches, this review aims to guide improvements in clinical pain management practices to enhance patient recovery outcomes and satisfaction, reduce reliance on pharmacological treatments, and ultimately elevate the overall quality of nursing care.

Objective To Observe the clinical characteristics and prognosis of patients with the acute macular neuroretinopathy(AMN)associated with novel coronavirus infection(COVID-19).Methods The data of 13 patients diagnosed with COVID-19-associated AMN attending the Department of Ophthalmology of the Affiliated Hospital of Yunnan University from December 2022 to February 2023,as well as 13 case reports in PubMed and Web of Science databases from 2020 to 2023 and a case series study totaling 41 patients were retrospectively selected and analyzed for their ophthalmic imaging and prognostic outcomes in clinic.Results A total of 13 cases with 25 eyes in the clinical case group were included in the study with a mean age of 30.23±6.02 years,of which 10 were females.The literature case group consisted of 41 cases and 72 eyes with a mean age of 30.12±13.24 years,including 31 female patients.(1)Duration between COVID-19 symptoms/diagnosis and ophthalmic symptoms:3(2.0,4.0)days in the clinical case group and 2(0.75,5.0)days in the literature case group.(2)Clinical characteristics:12(92.31％)of the clinical case group had the binocular onset and the literature case group,31(75.61％)had the binocular onset.The symptoms in both groups were mainly dark spots in vision,followed by decreased visual acuity.(3)Ancillary examinations:optical coherence tomography(OCT)showed the ellipsoid zone(EZ)and/or chimeric zone(IZ)breaks with strong reflections in the outer plexiform layer(OPL)and outer nuclear layer(ONL)in 13 patients in the clinical case group,and the near-infrared photography(NIR)showed the low-reflective wedge-shaped foci around the center of the macula,and some patients'optical coherence tomography angiography(OCTA)showed deep capillary lesions,and some patients'OCTA showed low reflectivity.Reduced blood flow in the deep capillary layer(DCP)and choroidal capillary layer(CC)was observed in all patients,7 patients with cotton-wool spots also had the reduced blood flow in the superficial capillary layer(SCP),and 33 patients in the case group in the literature had the visible EZ and/or IZ breaks on OCT.(4)Treatment and prognosis:11 out of 13 patients were treated with oral glucocorticoids,2 were under the observation.After year,the condition of 23 patients had been improved,1 case had visual field defects,1 case had retinal vein occlusion secondary to macular edema,and 1 case had a hyporeflective signal in the outer nuclear layer(ONL)and outer plexiform layer(OPL).Conclusion The age of onset of AMN related to COVID-19 is slightly older,with more cases involving both eyes.The main symptom is visual field scotoma,often accompanied by decreased vision.Near-infrared imaging shows low-reflective wedge-shaped lesions around the fovea,and OCT shows mainly disruption of the EZ and/or IZ.OCTA shows decreased blood flow density in the DCP and CC layers.The visual prognosis of AMN related to COVID-19 is good,but vigilance is needed for the occurrence of complications such as retinal vein occlusion.

Objective To observe the value of contrast-enhanced ultrasound(CEUS)for diagnosing malignant adnexal tumors.Methods Totally 112 patients with single adnexal masse were retrospectively enrolled and divided into benign adnexal tumor group(benign group,n=73)and malignant adnexal tumor group(malignant group,n=39).Clinical data,laboratory indicators,ovarian-adnexal ultrasound reporting and data system(O-RADS)classification based on conventional ultrasound(US),CEUS manifestations and CEUS classification of benign and malignant tumors were compared between groups.Multivariable logistic regression analysis of clinical and laboratory indicators being statistically different between groups,as well as US O-RADS classification and CEUS classification was performed to screen the independent predictors of malignant adnexal tumors,and combined models were constructed using forward stepwise regression method.The efficacy of each independent predictor and combined model for diagnosing malignant adnexal tumors was analyzed.Results Statistical differences of carbohydrate antigen 125(CA125),US O-RADS classification,enhancement time and level of CEUS,as well as CEUS classification were found between groups(all P＜0.05).CA125,US O-RADS classification and CEUS classification were all independent predictors of malignant adnexal tumors(all P＜0.05).Combined model Ⅰ,Ⅱ and Ⅲ were constructed based on CA125+CEUS classification,US O-RADS classification+CEUS classification and CA125+US O-RADS classification+CEUS classification,respectively.The area under the curve(AUC)of single CA125 level,US O-RADS classification,CEUS classification and combined model Ⅰ,Ⅱ and Ⅲ for diagnosing malignant adnexal tumor was 0.708,0.809,0.908,0.918,0.945 and 0.954,respectively.AUC of combined model Ⅲ was higher than that of combined model Ⅰ(Z=-2.142,P=0.032),while no significant difference of AUC was found between combined model Ⅱ and Ⅰ nor Ⅱ and Ⅲ(both P＞0.05).Conclusion CEUS could be used to effectively diagnose malignant adnexal tumor.Combining with CA125 level and US O-RADS classification could significantly improve its diagnostic efficacy.

Objective To investigate the effect of orthosis design parameters on correction of scoliosis and orthosis-trunk interface pressure.Methods A finite element model of scoliosis was constructed to simulate the assembly effect of the orthosis.The orthosis was divided into four loading areas(left rib,right rib,anterior-left and posterior-right area)to simulate six modification conditions.In Models 1,2 and 3,a fixed modification of 20 mm was applied on the anterior left and posterior right areas,while the displacement loads of 20,25 and 30 mm were applied on both the left rib and right rib areas.In Models 4,5 and 6,a fixed modification of 25 mm was applied on left rib and right rib areas,with the displacement loads of 15,20 and 25 mm applied on both anterior left and posterior right areas.The Cobb angle,apical vertebral rotation(AVR)and interface pressure were calculated.Results The correction of Cobb angle in Models 1,2 and 3 was 8.94°,15.62° and 17.91°,respectively,with AVR correction of 7.53°,6.69° and 5.87°,respectively.In Models 4,5 and 6,the correction of Cobb angle was 14.55°,15.62° and 16.09°,with AVR correction of 5.25°,6.69° and 8.63°,respectively.In Model 6,the correction rate of Cobb angle and AVR was 45.48%and 41.22%,respectively,with a maximum pressure of 26.51 kPa on orthosis-trunk interface,achieving the most significant outcome.Conclusions The modification of orthosis has a significant effect on the correction of Cobb and AVR angles.The loading on the left rib and right rib areas mainly affect the Cobb angle,while the loading on the anterior left and posterior right areas mainly affect the spinal axial-rotation.A modification of 25 mm on all loading areas achieves the optimal spinal correction.This study provides the quantitative data for orthosis design.

Objective:To explore the application effect of the BOPPPS[bridge-in(B), objective(O), pre-assessment(P), participatory learning(P), post-assessment(P), Summary(S) ]model combined with scenario-based teaching in out-of-school first aid training for school-aged children, aiming to offer insights for relevant educational practices.Methods:A quasi-experimental study was conducted. Using cluster sampling, 131 school-aged children participating in Wuhan first aid summer camp from July to August 2024 were selected as participants. Among them, 65 children enrolled in July 2024 were assigned to the control group and received training using traditional teaching methods, while 66 children enrolled in August 2024 were assigned to the experimental group and underwent training designed with the BOPPPS model integrated with scenario-based teaching according to the time of entry into the camp. After the training, theoretical exam scores, learning process evaluations, and training satisfaction were compared between the two groups.Results:The control group included 31 boys and 34 girls, aged (9.32 ± 1.83) years; the experimental group included 34 boys and 32 girls, aged (9.71 ± 1.73) years. After the intervention, the total scores of theoretical examination, learning process evaluation, and training satisfaction in the experimental group were (90.27 ± 4.41), (42.79 ± 1.39), and (21.43 ± 2.41) points, respectively, which were higher than those in the control group (82.05 ± 6.29), (38.85 ± 1.91), and (19.54 ± 3.02) points, and the differences were statistically significant ( t=6.94, 3.15, 4.16, all P<0.05). Conclusions:This out-of-school first aid training for school-aged children leveraged the professional expertise of a tertiary grade A hospital′s pediatric department. The integration of the BOPPPS model with scenario-based teaching effectively enhanced the first aid competencies of school-aged children and improved their satisfaction with the training.

Objective:To analyse the clinical efficacy of arthroscopic double-bundle Endobutton fixation of the thin bone channel in the treatment of Rockwood type III-V acromioclavicular joint dislocation.Methods:A total of 34 patients with acromioclavicular joint dislocation, 24 males and 10 females, aged 50.9±11.0 years (range, 21-74 years), who underwent arthroscopic double-bundle Endobutton fixation of the thin bone channel at Zhejiang Province Taizhou Hospital, Wenzhou Medical University, from February 2015 to February 2022 were retrospectively analyzed. There were 24 cases on the left side and 10 cases on the right side. Causes of injury: 23 cases of car accident, 7 cases of fall, 4 cases of falling from height. Rockwood classification: Type III 17 cases, type IV 9 cases, type V 8 cases. The visual analogue scale (VAS), American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons (ASES) score, Constant-Murley score, and joint range of motion were used to evaluate shoulder pain and functional improvement.Results:All patients successfully completed the operation and were followed up for an average of 16.6±2.8 months (range, 12-24 months). Postoperative VAS scores were significantly lower compared to preoperative scores ( F=199.408, P<0.001), with the final follow-up VAS score being 1.32±0.47, significantly lower than the preoperative score of 4.71±1.19 ( P<0.001). Postoperative ASES scores were significantly higher compared to preoperative scores ( F=335.838, P<0.001), with the final follow-up ASES score being 88.85±6.41, significantly higher than the preoperative score of 34.76±5.79 ( P<0.001). The Constant-Murley scores of 3 months, 6 months after operation and the last follow-up were 77.79±5.34, 87.40±5.19 and 88.17±4.40, respectively, which were higher than that before operation 37.41±6.52, and the difference was statistically significant ( P<0.05). At the final follow-up, shoulder flexion, adduction, and abduction were 172.9°±6.4°, 59.2°±6.2°, and 59.3°±5.9°, respectively. The coracoclavicular distance was 1.76±0.42 mm, 0.84±0.19 mm, and 0.87±0.18 mm before operation, 3 months after operation, and at the last follow-up, respectively, and the difference was statistically significant ( F=101.160, P<0.001). Whereas, 3 months postoperative and the final follow-up were smaller than the preoperative ones, and the difference was statistically significant ( P<0.05). All incisions healed in one stage, and there was no vascular or nerve injury, internal fixation infection, coracoid process or clavicle bone tunnel fracture, or internal fixation loosening or breakage. Conclusion:Arthroscopic double-bundle Endobutton fixation with thin bone channel for the treatment of Rockwood type III-V acromioclavicular joint dislocation can improve shoulder function and reduce pain, with high surgical safety.
