AIM: To compare the effectiveness of foldable capsular body(FCB)with traditional scleral buckling(SB)in the treatment of experimental retinal detachment animal models.METHODS: After successfully establishing rhegmatogenous retinal detachment(RRD)animal models, 24 New Zealand white rabbits were randomly divided into three groups(RRD models group, SB group, and FCB group), with 8 rabbits in each group. The FCB and SB groups underwent SB and FCB surgeries for the RRD animal models, while the RRD models group only consists of RRD models without any surgical intervention during the follow-up period. The follow-up duration was 3 mo. Wide-field neonatal fundus imaging system and ophthalmic B-ultrasound were used to assess the fundus conditions before and after surgery. The Icare® TONOVET Plus tonometer was utilized to evaluate intraocular pressure changes before and after surgery. The Eaton and Draize scoring systems were selected to monitor postoperative inflammatory reactions.RESULTS: The retinal reattachment rates in the FCB and SB groups were 87.5% and 75.0%, respectively, with no statistically significant difference between the groups(P>0.05). The intraocular pressure in both the FCB and SB groups increased postoperatively compared to preoperative levels(P<0.01), and there were no significant differences in intraocular pressure at any time points during the follow-up period between the groups(P>0.05). The intraocular pressure in the RRD models group remained at a low level throughout the follow-up period. The average surgical time for the FCB group was 16.87±2.29 min, which was shorter than 46.25±4.74 min in the SB group(t=-15.166, P<0.001). According to the Eaton and Draize scoring systems, the FCB group had lower grades of conjunctival hyperemia and edema in the early postoperative period compared to the SB group, indicating milder inflammatory reactions(P<0.05).CONCLUSION: Both FCB and SB are effective in treating experimental RRD. Compared to SB, FCB is simpler to operate, and also has a shorter surgical time and milder postoperative inflammatory reactions.

This report described a case of neonatal alloimmune thrombocytopenic purpura presenting with generalized petechiae. The infant was admitted at Nanfang Hospital, Southern Medical University on March 30, 2022, following detection of wide spread petechiae 30 minutes post-delivery. Blood tests revealed severe thrombocytopenia (platelet count 5×10 9/L) with leukopenia, decreased hemoglobin, and hepatomegaly, though coagulation function remained normal. Initial treatments—random donor platelet transfusion, and intravenous immunoglobulin—proved ineffective. Pretreatment blood samples showed strongly positive platelet antibodies (3+). Further typing confirmed human leukocyte antigen (HLA) antibodies in both infant and mother, establishing HLA-negative neonatal alloimmune thrombocytopenia. HLA-negative platelet transfusion resolved petechiae and normalized platelet counts, enabling discharge on postnatal day 14. Subdural hemorrhage was detected on MRI at day 29. Platelet levels remained normal at six-month follow-up, with age-appropriate development confirmed at 2.5 years.

Objective To conduct a quantitative risk assessment of Listeria monocytogenes(LM)in prepackaged,non-vacuum sealed, short shelf-life,ready-to-eat meat products in Chengdu using the@Risk software. Methods Based on monitoring data of LM contamination in pre-packaged,non-vacuum sealed, refrigerated ready-to-eat meat products in Chengdu obtained from a previous study,a risk assessment model was established. The risk of LM infection caused by consuming cooked meat products in different groups of people was quantitatively assessed. In addition, the growth of LM in cooked meat products, from retail to consumption, was also taken into consideration in the assessment. Results In Chengdu, the numbers of potential cases of listeriosis caused by consumption of prepackaged,non-vacuum sealed, refrigerated ready-to-eat meat products were 0.01(95%confidence interval[CI]:0-1.71 × 10-2)per year per million in healthy individuals aged 5-<65 years old,0.22(95%CI:0-2.67 × 10-1)in healthy individuals aged 65 and above, and 2.88(95%CI:3.85 × 10-8-4.35)in pregnant women.According to the results of the sensitivity analysis, the initial pollution level of LM in the retail stage was the most important factor affecting the prevalence(R=0.25),followed by retail temperature(R=0.08),retail time(R=0.07),and amount of consumption per meal(R=0.07).Conclusions For pre-packaged,non-vacuum sealed, cooked meat products, the most important measure to reduce the prevalence of listeriosis is to control the initial contamination level, which requires food processing plants to regularly clean and strictly disinfect the processing environment and equipment to minimize LM contamination at the source.Retail delicatessens should strictly maintain a storage temperature below 5.0℃ and strictly adhere to product shelf-life recommendations. As for consumers, they should consume these meat products as soon as possible after purchase or store them under refrigerated conditions and shorten the storage time.Pregnant women should thoroughly heat the meat products before eating to reduce the risk of listeriosis.

Objective:To analyze the infiltration of immune cells in different molecular subtypes of endometrial cancer(EC)at the protein level and explore the correlation between immune infiltration and clinicopathological features. Methods:Clinical data from 75 mismatch repair-deficient(MMR-D)EC cases and 74 mismatch re-pair-proficient(MMR-P)EC cases with comparable differentiation levels, diagnosed at Sichuan Provincial People's Hospital between January 2013 and January 2021,were selected.Molecular classification of EC was con-ducted according to the ProMisE standard.Immunohistochemistry(IHC)staining and fluorescent multiplexed im-munohistochemistry(F-mIHC)techniques were used to quantify the distribution of CD8+T cells, regulatory T cells(Tregs),and macrophages. The clinicopathological features and immune infiltration characteristics of different subtypes were investigated. Results:Among 149 samples,75 were MMR-D,8 were POLE-mutated(POLEmut),13 were p53-mutated(p53abn),and 53 were p53 wild-type(p53wt).The infiltration characteristics of CD8+T cells,Tregs, and macrophages were no statistically significant differences correlated with age and pathological stage(P>0.05).Among the molecular subtypes of EC,MMR-D tumors demonstrated a significantly higher densi-ty of CD8+T cells and Tregs compared to MMR-P tumors(P<0.05).Further comparison across the four EC mo-lecular subtypes revealed that the MMR-D subtype, which had a favorable prognosis, displayed a significantly high density of CD8+T cells compared to the p53abn subtype and the p53wt subtype(P<0.05).Additionally,the Tregs density of the MMR-D tumors was significantly higher than that of the p53wt tumors,in both the tumor area(P<0.05)and the stroma area(P<0.05).The POLEmut type tumors, which had the best prognosis, showed a high infiltration of CD8+T cells and Tregs cells compared to the p53abn and p53wt types, although there was no signifi-cant statistical difference(P>0.05).The p53wt subtype, which had a moderate prognosis, exhibited low density of CD8+T cells(P<0.05)and Tregs(tumor area,P<0.01,stroma area,P<0.05)compared to MMR-D tumors. The p53abn subtype, which was associated with the worst prognosis, exhibited higher infiltration of M2-like macro-phages than the MMR-D subtype(P<0.05)and the p53wt subtype(P<0.05)in tumor region, and lower CD8+T cell density than the MMR-D subtype(P<0.05).No significant statistical difference was observed in the density of M1-like macrophages across the four molecular subtypes in either the tumor or stroma areae(P>0.05).Conclu-sions:There was no statistically significant relation found between infiltration characteristics of immune cells and clinicopathological features. The types and distribution of infiltrated immune cells were different across these EC molecular subtypes. This indicated that ECs with different molecular subtype exhibited different features of immune infiltration which is closely associated with patient prognosis.

Objective:To seek any correlation between hypoesthesia and sensory disturbance to motor function among stroke survivors. Methods:One hundred and two stroke survivors with hyperalgesia were treated with sinusoidal alternating current at 2000Hz, 250Hz or 5Hz to stimulate the fingers and toes on their healthy and hemiplegic sides. Current perception thresholds (CPTs) and pain tolerance thresholds (PTTs) were recorded. The correlation between the degree of sensory disturbance in the hemiplegic limb and muscle strength was explored.Results:①The degree of sensory impairment in those who had suffered a cerebral hemorrhage was significantly greater than among those with cerebral infarction, without significant difference in pain tolerance between different genders and affected sides. ②All of the patients with sensory impairment showed significantly higher CPT and PTT values at the different frequencies, with a positive correlation between them. ③The CPT values of the affected hand and foot at the different frequencies were negatively correlated with muscle strength on the affected side. Conclusions:Both CPT and PTT can usefully represent the degree of sensory disturbance after a stroke. The CPT values of patients with different types of stroke are significantly different, and the degree of sensory disturbance is correlated with the muscle strength of the affected side. Therefore, it is helpful for prognostic judgment and individualized rehabilitation treatment planning by quantifying the degree of sensory disturbance.
