Objective To observe the clinical efficacy and safety of filiform-heated needle combined with Qingbu Huacuo Decoction in the treatment of acne of damp-heat due to spleen deficiency syndrome. Methods Seventy patients with acne of damp-heat due to spleen deficiency syndrome admitted to the seventh clinical Medical School of Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine from May 2023 to March 2024 were randomly divided into the observation group and the control group according to random number table method, with 35 patients in each group.Health education was given to the patients in both groups. The control group was given oral administration of Doxycycline Hyclate Tablets combined with filiform-heated needle for treatment, and the observation group was treated with filiform-heated needle combined with Qingbu Huacuo Decoction orally, the course of treatment for the two groups covered six weeks. After six weeks of treatment, the clinical efficacy of the two groups was evaluated, and the changes in Global Acne Grading System(GAGS)score and Quality of Life-Acne(Qol-Acne)score,as well as the traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)syndrome scores before and after treatment were observed. The changes of skin barrier function indicators such as trans epidermal water loss(TEWL)content, skin moisture content, and sebum content before and after treatment were compared between the two groups of patients. Moreover, the safety of the two groups and the occurrence of adverse reactions were evaluated.Results(1)After treatment, the GAGS scores of patients in the two groups were improved significantly(P<0.05),and the improvement in the observation group was significantly superior to that in the control group, with a statistically significant difference(P<0.05).(2)After treatment, the Qol-Acne scores of the patients in the two groups were significantly improved(P<0.05),and the observation group was significantly superior to the control group in improving the three aspects of self-perception,emotional functioning, and self-assessment,with a statistically significant difference(P<0.05),and the observation group was slightly superior to the control group in improving social functioning, but the difference being not statistically significant(P>0.05).(3)After treatment, the content of TEWL,skin moisture, and sebum of patients in the two groups were significantly improved(P<0.05),and the improvement in the observation group was significantly superior to that in the control group, the difference being statistically significant(P<0.05).(4)After treatment, the TCM syndrome scores of the two groups of patients were improved significantly(P<0.05),and the improvement in the observation group was significantly superior to that in the control group, with a statistically significant difference(P<0.05).(5)The total effective rate was 94.29%(33/35)in the observation group and 74.29%(26/35)in the control group. The clinical efficacy of the observation group was superior to that of the control group, the difference being statistically significant(P<0.05).(6)Comparison of the incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups, the difference being not statistically significant(P>0.05).Conclusion Filiform-heated needle combined with Qingbu Huacuo Decoction in the treatment of acne of damp-heat due to spleen deficiency syndrome can significantly improve the clinical symptoms of patients, thus improving their quality of life, with good safety.

Objective To investigate the disparities in the activities of daily living(ADL)among older adults living in urban and rural areas of Sichuan Province,China and the influencing factors, and to provide a basis for promoting the health of older adults and formulating relevant policies. Methods Using data from the Seventh Health Services Survey of Sichuan Province,we enrolled 7 369 older adults from urban and rural areas and analyzed their ability to perform ADL and the relevant influencing factors. All participants were aged 60 years or older.Chi-square tests and logistic regression were performed to identify the influencing factors. Results The ADL impairment rate among older adults living in urban areas of Sichuan Province was 17.7%,which was higher than the rate of 13.8%among older adults living in rural areas.According to the results of logistic regression analysis,age≥80 years(odds ratio[OR]=3.725;95%CI,2.460-5.639),accidental injuries(OR=2.375;95%CI,1.597-3.532),and good sleep quality(OR=0.420,95%CI:0.289-0.612)were factors influencing ADL among older adults living in urban areas, while age ≥ 80 years(OR=1.867;95%CI,1.459-2.390),being married(OR=0.805;95%CI,0.664-0.976),accidental injuries(OR=1.936;95%CI,1.564-2.397),and participation in social activities(OR=0.417;95%CI,0.352-0.495)were factors influencing ADL among older adults living in rural areas. Conclusion There are differences in ADL impairment rates and the relevant influencing factors between urban and rural older adults in Sichuan Province. These findings underscore the need to consider urban-rural differences when adopting relevant policies and measures.

Objective To evaluate the effects of consolidation chemotherapy on postponing the relapse in patients with advanced epithelial ovarian carcinoma. Methods 44 patients with advanced epithelial ovarian carcinoma treated in our hospital from March 2000 to April 2004 were enrolled. Clinical complete remission was achieved after standard treatments in all these patients, and they were randomly assigned into consolidation group and control group. Relapse rate and Disease-free Survival were analyzed. Results 22 patients were assigned to consolidation group, and 22 patients as control group. The latest follow up examination was done in July 2005. Relapse rate was 45.5% in consolidation group, and 59.1% in control group (P=0.365). Mean relapse time in consolidation group was 25.3?9.3 months, and was 16.9?6.7 months in control group (P=0.019). Mean Disease-free Survival was 31.9?14.8 months in consolidation group, and was 22.7?12.9 months, in control group (P=0.033). Kaplan-Meier Survival Analysis showed no significant difference P=0.22. Conclusion Consolidation chemotherapy may postpone tumor relapse and prolong Disease-free survival in patients with clinical complete remission advanced epithelial ovarian carcinoma. While it hasn′t been proved but the results in present study did not prove that consolidation chemotherapy could lower relapse rate or elevate survival rate. Further study is needed to achieve better results.
