Objective To explore the clinical efficacy and safety of pregabalin combined with escitalopram in patients with major depressive disorder. Methods A total of 61 patients with major depressive disorder who received treatment at Qingdao Mental Health Center from June 2023 to February 2024 were selected(with 1 dropped out). They were divided into control group(received escitalopram treatment)and experimental group(received pregabalin combined with escitalopram treatment)by random number table method,30 cases in each group, and the whole treatment courses lasted for 6 weeks.Compared the Hamilton depression scale(HAMD)and Hamilton anxiety scale(HAMA)scores of two groups of patients before treatment and at the end of the 2nd,4th,and 6th week of treatment. At the same time, compared the incidence of adverse reactions between two groups of patients during treatment. Results There was no statistically significant difference in the scores of HAMD and HAMA between two groups before treatment(P>0.05);At the 2nd,4th,and 6th weekends of treatment, the HAMD and HAMA scores of experimental group patients were significantly lower than those of control group during the same period(P<0.05).There was no statistically significant difference in the total incidences of adverse reactions between two groups(P>0.05).Conclusion For major depressive disorder, the combined use of pregabalin and escitalopram achieves better therapeutic outcomes than escitalopram alone, while maintaining equivalent safety.
