Objective To quantitatively measure the density of hydroxyapatite(HAP)(water)within lumbar vertebral bodies using the gemstone spectral imaging(GSI)material decomposition technique and to compare and analyze the clinical significance of density variations of HAP(water)in different regions of L1-L3 vertebral bodies. Methods A total of 242 patients who underwent lumbar quantitative computed tomography(QCT)scans via utilizing the GSI technique were selected.Following the scans, the HAP(water)density values in four regions(anterosuperior, posterosuperior, anteroinferior, and posteroinferior)of each L1-L3 vertebral bodies were quantitatively measured using the material decomposition technique.Based on the QCT results, all cases were divided into three groups of normal bone mineral density, osteopenia, and osteoporosis. The distributions of HAP(water)density values in the four regions within each vertebral body were compared and analyzed among the groups. Results In all three groups of patients, the highest HAP(water)density values in the L1-L3 vertebral bodies were all located in the posteroinferior region, followed by the posterosuperior region. In the normal bone mineral density group, the lowest HAP(water)density values was found in the anterosuperior region of the L1 vertebral body.In the osteopenia and osteoporosis groups, the lowest HAP(water)density values was found in the anteroinferior region of the L1-L3 vertebral bodies. Conclusion Significant differences in HAP(water)density are present across different regions within lumbar vertebral bodies, which may be related to the development of vertebral osteoporosis and the location of fractures.

The advanced platelet-rich fibrin(A-PRF)and concentrated growth factor(CGF)are platelet concentrates(PCs)obtained through the collection of venous blood from the patient and using different centrifugation procedures. Both are rich in growth factors, and the internal fibrin structure within them serves as a natural three-dimensional scaffold for the release of growth factors. They possess characteristics such as low cost, high safety and superior regenerative potential.Currently, they have gained wide-spread attention in the field of regeneration and repair of soft and hard tissues in oral implantation. This review provides the progress of A-PRF and CGF research, focusing on their preparation methods, application methods, potential regeneration mechanisms and a comparison of components and scaffold structures promoting alveolar bone defect repair between A-PRF and CGF.

Proteins are fundamental carriers as the structural elements and biochemically active entities responsible for catalysis, transport, and regulation. These functions are depending on the protein folding into precise three-dimensional structures, interacting with ligands, and conformational changes. This article reviews the recent progress of nanopores in single-molecule protein sensing, involving the identification of polypeptides and proteins, the conformation changes of protein folding, the molecular structure responsible to the pH of solutions, the molecular interactions, and protein sequencing. These studies provide clues to understand life activities and facilitate the early diagnosis of diseases and design of drugs for precise treatment.

Chinese Journal of Ultrasonography 2025;34(3):185-193
Objective:To establish the normal reference value of the left ventricular remodeling index(RI)in healthy adults, and to evaluate the phenotypes of RI in various left ventricular geometries and its relationship with left ventricular systolic and diastolic functions in asymptomatic hypertensive patients. Methods:A retrospective study design was employed,906 healthy Han Chinese volunteers were selected as the control group from the multicenter study "Echocardiographic Measurements in Normal Chinese Adults"(EMINCA),which was conducted in 2012. The normal reference range of left ventricular RI was established based on the 95% CI( xˉ ± 1.96 s). Statistical analyses were conducted to evaluate differences in RI across age groups and between genders. A total of 340 asymptomatic hypertensive patients in the Department of Health Management,Sichuan Provincial People's Hospital from July 2023 to March 2024 were prospectively included as the hypertension group. Conventional echocardiography and two-dimensional speckle tracking imaging were used to assess left ventricular structure and function. Parameters such as left ventricular mass index(LVMI),RI,relative wall thickness(RWT),the ratio of early diastolic mitral inflow velocity to the average early diastolic mitral annular velocity(E/e'),and the ratio of early diastolic to late diastolic mitral inflow velocities(E/A)were calculated. Differences of these parameters between the hypertension group and the healthy control group were compared. The hypertension group was stratified into 3 subgroups based on left ventricular posterior wall thickness at end-diastole(LVPWd)and RI:the non-LV hypertrophy group, the left ventricular hypertrophy with normal RI group, and the left ventricular hypertrophy with low RI group. Relevant parameters were compared among these subgroups, and the statistical significance of the differences was analyzed. Pearson correlation analysis and multiple linear regression analysis were performed to explore the relationships between left ventricular RI and GLS,LVEF,the average mitral annular peak systolic velocity(s'),e',E/e',E/A. Results:In the healthy control group,RI showed a declining trend with increasing age in both sexes. Furthermore, the RI was significantly higher in the female group compared to the male group( P<0.001). Compared with the healthy control group,LVMI and E/e' increased while RI,e' and s' decreased in the hypertension group(all P < 0.001). Among the 3 subgroups of the hypertension group, compared with the other two groups,LVMI and E/e' increased while absolute GLS and s' reduced in the left ventricular hypertrophy with low RI subgroup(all P <0.001). Pearson correlation analysis revealed that RI was negatively correlated with GLS and E/e'( r=-0.457,-0.281;all P < 0.001),and positively correlated with LVEF,e',s' and E/A( r=0.229,0.394,0.150,0.172;all P < 0.05). Multivariate linear regression analysis demonstrated that left ventricular RI was independently associated with GLS,LVEF,e',s',E/e' and E/A. Conclusions:The normal reference range of left ventricular RI tends to decrease with age and is typically higher in females than in males. In asymptomatic patients with primary hypertension,RI,systolic and diastolic functions of the left ventricular are lower, while LVMI is higher. Among these patients, functional impairment is more pronounced in patients with left ventricular hypertrophy and reduced RI. This indicates that left ventricular RI may offer an imaging basis for further classification and stratification of structural and functional abnormalities in the left ventricle of asymptomatic hypertensive patients.

Objective To investigate the effect of 9S management combined with plan-do-check-adjust(PDCA)cycle on the incidence of nonstandard surgical instrument handover in urological endoscopic surgery in operating room and supply room. Methods A total of 760 instruments of urological endoscopic surgery used from June 2022 to December 2022 were selected as control group and received routine management.A total of 920 instruments of urological endoscopic surgery used from January 2023 to June 2023 were selected as observation group, and 9S management and PDCA cycle management mode were administrated in instrument handover. The management performance and the satisfaction of surgeons to the instrument nursing staff were compared between the two groups. Results The accuracy of instrument identification and master rate of assembly and disassembly of instruments in the observation group were significantly higher than those in the control group(P<0.05).The incidence of instrument cleaning and packaging errors in the observation group was significantly lower than that in the control group(P<0.05).The satisfaction of surgeons to the instrument nursing staff in the observation group was higher than that in the control group, but no significant difference was found(P>0.05).Conclusion The 9S management combined with PDCA cycle management solves the problem of transport and handover of urological instruments between operating room and supply room, decreases the error rates of disassembly, cleaning, assembly and packaging of instruments, improves work efficiency, reduces the probability of instrument damage, and saves costs.
