Objective: To determine the heterogeneity for caries prevention service preferences among children in Anhui Province, so as to provide reference for the promotion and popularization of caries prevention services for school age children. Methods: Based on a discrete selection experiment, a face to face questionnaire survey was administered using a multi stage sampling method among 785 parents with children 3-12 years of age who were hospitalized in the stomatology clinics of 7 prefectures and cities in Anhui Province from October 2021 to October 2022. A mixed Logit model was used to evaluate caries prevention service preferences for children. Results: Four discrete choice experiment attributes included in the study were statistically significant for choice preference ( P <0.05). Compared with the control group, parents with a high school education or above preferred caries prevention services with 70%-<80% preventive effectiveness, 2-<5 and <2 km from the service point, and a high service cost ( β =0.38, 1.66, 1.64, 0.00); female parents preferred preventive services with 70%-<80% preventive effectiveness and a high service cost ( β =0.35, 0.01 ); parents of children <7 years of age preferred services with 70%-<80% preventive effectiveness ( β =0.75); parents of children with oral health preferred preventive services during winter and summer vacations ( β =-0.28); parents of children with caries preferred preventive services with a high cost per denticle ( β =0.00)( P <0.05). Conclusions Parents with different education levels, gender, child age, and oral health status have heterogeneity in dental caries prevention service preferences. The provision of targeted and precise services can improve the participation and coverage of caries prevention services for school age children.

Objective To investigate the MRI characteristics of subventricular zone(SVZ)-associated isocitrate dehydrogenase(IDH)wild-type glioblastoma(GBM)and their correlations with Ki-67 expression and O6-methylguanine-DNA methyltransferase(MGMT)promoter methylation status.Methods A retrospective analysis was conducted on data of 78 patients with IDH wild-type GBM who underwent surgery and received pathological confirmation.Preoperative MRI contrast-enhanced T1 WI sequences were used to assess SVZ involvement,and postoperative molecular testing of tumor markers,including Ki-67 expression and MGMT methylation status,was utilized to categorize the patients accordingly.Results The SVZ involved(+)group(P＜0.001)and the MGMT(+)group(P=0.036)exhibited significantly larger tumor volumes.There were no significant differences between the groups in terms of gender,age,left/right hemispheric lateralization,or specific brain lobe distribution.There was no significant association between Ki-67 expression levels,MGMT methylation status,and SVZ involvement,respectively.Conclusion The SVZ(+)group and the MGMT(+)group demonstrates a wider range of tumor invasion.

Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a major metabolic disease endangering global health, with diabetic nephropathy (DN) as a primary complication lacking curative therapy. Sporoderm-broken spores of Ganoderma lucidum (GLP), an herbal medicine, has been used for the treatment of metabolic disorders. In this study, DN was induced in Sprague-Dawley rats using streptozotocin (STZ) and a high-fat diet (HFD), and the protective mechanisms of GLP were investigated through transcriptomic, metabolomic, and network pharmacology (NP) analyses. Our results demonstrated that GLP intervention ameliorated renal damage and inflammation levels in DN rats. Integrative metabolomic and transcriptomic analysis revealed that GLP treatment modulated glucose and cellular energy metabolisms by regulating relevant genes. GLP significantly suppressed the inflammations by impacting glucose and energy metabolism-related gene expression (Igfbp1 and Angptl4) and enhanced metabolic biomarkers of 4-Aminocatechol. In addition, NP analysis further indicated that GLP may efficiently alleviate DN via immune-related pathways. In conclusion, this study provides supportive evidence of the anti-inflammatory effects of GLP supplements, highlighting their potential for promising clinical applications in treating DN.

Objective:To evaluate the effects of different types of resistance training on the treatment and prevention of sarcopenia in the elderly.Methods:A computer search was conducted in seven databases including PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, Cochrane Library, CNKI, VIP, and Wanfang, to identify randomized controlled trials published from the inception of the databases to March 2023, for the assessment of the preventive effects of resistance training on sarcopenia in older adults.Two reviewers independently performed the literature search, selection, and quality assessment of the included studies.A Meta-analysis was conducted using RevMan 5.3.Results:A total of 12 studies with 1018 participants were included.Compared with the control group, resistance training significantly improved the skeletal muscle mass index( MD=0.34, 95% CI: 0.24~0.44, P<0.01), grip strength( MD=1.63, 95% CI: 0.73~2.53, P<0.01), and 5 times sit-to-stand test performance( MD=-1.99, 95% CI: -2.48--1.51, P<0.01).However, there was no significant improvement observed in muscle mass( MD=1.28, 95% CI: -0.38-2.94, P>0.05), knee extensor strength( SMD=1.71, 95% CI: -0.51-3.93, P>0.05), or gait speed( MD=0.03, 95% CI: -0.03-0.08, P>0.05). Conclusions:Resistance training improves the skeletal muscle mass index, grip strength and the time taken to perform the 5 times sit-to-stand test in the elderly, thus delaying degenerative skeletal muscle changes in older adults with sarcopenia and offering a preventive effect on sarcopenia in healthy senior adults.

By searching for the Canadian Licensed Natural Health Products Database, (LNHPD), this paper analyzed the characteristics and current status of 92 Chinese patent medicines successfully registered and listed in Canada, and found that the enterprises of successfully registered enterprises are mainly located in areas with better development condition of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) such as Beijing, Guangdong and Tianjin; The successfully registered Chinese patent medicines include 64 kinds of single medicine or medicine with single active ingredient (69.6%) and 28 kinds of compound medicine (30.4%), the forms of the dosage are mainly tablets and capsules, which have the characteristics of accuracy in dosage and stable physicochemical properties. There are also granules, solutions, powders and other dosage forms, which can be preserved for a long time and have low requirements on technic and environment. These Chinese patent medicines are mainly used to treat respiratory and circulatory system diseases, some are used to treat urogenital and digestive system diseases, and few are used to treat difficuilt diseases like tumors, diabetes. There are some other health care products. It is suggested to strengthen the connection between domestic standards of TCM registration and international standards, and promote the scientific and technological capacity of relevant enterprises, and encourage enterprises to strengthen international registration of advantageous products, so as to accelerate the speed of international development of TCM in China.

Objective: To analyze the phenotype and F5 gene variant in a pedigree affected with hereditary coagulation factor Ⅴ (FⅤ) deficiency. Methods: All of the exons, flanking sequences, and 5′ and 3′ untranslated regions of the F5 gene were subjected to PCR and direct sequencing. Suspected variant sites were confirmed by clone sequencing. Influence of the variants was predicted by using software including ClustalX and Mutation Taster. Results: The prothrombin time (PT) and activated partial thromboplastin time (APTT) of the proband were prolonged to 20.3 s and 59.2 s, respectively, while FⅤ activity (FⅤ∶C) and FⅤ antigen (FⅤ∶Ag) were reduced by 13% and 17%, respectively. The FⅤ∶C and FⅤ∶Ag of his father, sister and daughter were decreased to 35%, 37%, 29% and 42%, 46%, 35%, respectively. The proband was found to carry a heterozygous c. 2851delT variant in exon 13 of the F5 gene, which caused a frameshift and resulted in a truncated protein (p.Ser923LeufsX8). In addition, a heterozygous c. 1538G>A (p.Arg485Lys) variant was found in exon 10. The father, sister and daughter of the proband all carried the p. Ser923LeufsX8 variant, while his mother and son carried the heterozygous p. Arg485Lys polymorphism. His younger brother and wife were of the wild type. Bioinformatic analysis showed that p. Ser923 was highly conserved across various species. Mutation Taster scored 1.00 for the p. Ser923LeufsX8 variant, and the result has predicted a corresponding disease. Conclusion A heterozygous deletional mutation c. 2851delT in exon 13 of the F5 gene and a heterozygous c. 1538G>A polymorphism harbored by the proband may be associated with the decreased FⅤ level in this pedigree.

Objective · To explore the biological characteristics of platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) and its effects on proliferation and differentiation of adipose derived stem cells (ADSCs). Methods · The whole blood was collected from the forelimb vein of healthy beagles to prepare the PRF membrane, which were observed with optical microscope and scanning electron microscope. ADSCs were collected from the inguinaladipose tissue and were isolated and cultured. Identification of multi-directionaldifferentiation potential was performed. ADSCs were assigned to the PRF group and the control group, the former was treated with PRF in vitro. Cell proliferation wasmeasured with CCK-8. Osteogenesis induction was performed for two groups and the expression of genes associated with osteogenesis, including osteocalcin (OCN), osteopontin (OPN) and collagen I (Col- Ⅰ ), was measured with RT-PCR before induction and 4 and 7 days after induction. The alkaline phosphatase (ALP) activitywas measured 7 days after induction. Results · PRF is a milk white fibrin glue with elasticity and toughness. PRF can form loose and porous three dimensional network structure, which harbors lots of platelets and leucocytes. The cell proliferation activity was significantly higher in the PRF group than in the control group. After osteogenesis induction, the ALP activity and the mRNA levels of OCN, OPN, and Col- Ⅰ were significantly increased. Conclusion · PRF is a fibrin glue with three dimension network structure and contains lots of platelets, which can slowly release growth factors. PRF can promote the proliferation and osteogenic differentiation of ADSCs.

Objective To study the application value of traditional Chinese medical continuing nursing care in follow-up of patients with gastrointestinal carcinoma .Methods Sixty-four patients with advanced gastrointestinal carcinoma from September 2010 to January 2013 were randomly divided into the control group (n=31) and the experimental group (n =33).The control group received the routine follow-up, while the experimental group received routine follow-up plus traditional Chinese medical continuing nursing care including pressing the auricular point by magnetic beads , foot bath in the traditional Chinese medicine , massage at the plantar reflex zone and oral shiquandabu decoction .The quality of sleep , the intensity of pain , appetite and cancer-related fatigue ( CRF ) were evaluated before and four weeks after the follow-up in two groups. Results Before the follow-up, Pittsburgh sleep quality index (PSQI) was (10.39 ±3.84) in the control group, and (10.15 ±3.73) in the experimental group; the score of pain numerical rating scale was (2.26 ± 1.03) in the control group, and (2.21 ±1.05) in the experimental group;the cases of the mild, moderate and severe according to CRF score were respectively 8, 20, 3 cases in the control group , and respectively 10, 21, 2 cases in the experimental group , and the differences in the three indexes between two groups were not statistically significant (P>0.05).Four weeks after the follow-up, PSQI was (10.10 ±3.35) in the control group, and (8.48 ±2.50) in the experimental group, and the difference was statistically significant (t =2.170,P<0.05);the score of pain numerical rating scale was (2.19 ±0.83) in the control group, and (1.76 ±0.75) in the experimental group, and the difference was statistically significant (t =2.201,P <0.05);the cases of the mild, moderate and severe according to CRF score were respectively 11, 16, 4 cases in the control group , and respectively 20, 13, 0 cases in the experimental group , and the difference was statistically significant (Z =-2.330,P <0.05).Conclusions The traditional Chinese medical continuing nursing care can improve the symptoms in the follow-up of patients with advanced gastrointestinal carcinoma .

Seventy eight infertile women were examined by three dimensional hysterosalpingocontrast-sonography(3D-HyCoSy) and X-ray hysterosalingography (HSG) to observe flowing condition of fallopian tube.With the laparoscopy as gold standard,the sensitivity,specificity,positive predictive value and negative predictive value of 3D-HyCoSy in diagnosis of fallopian tube infertility were 94.7％,83.7％,93.9％ and 82.4％ ; those for HSG were 96.4％,82.6％,92.3％,93.0％ and 90.5％,respectively.U test showed that two methods had good consistency. The results suggested that 3D-HyCoSy provides an effective method in evaluation of fallopian tube pathology for infertile women.

Objective To evaluate the value of three-dimensional power Doppler imaging(3D-PDI) in the discrimination between benign and malignant endometrium in women with postmenopausal bleeding. Methods Eighty-four women with post menopausal bleeding who examined by 3D-PDI were enrolled. All patients scheduled for pathological examination were divided into benign group (30 cases with endometrial polyps and 34 cases with hyperplasia) and malignant group (20 cases with endometrial carcinoma). Endometrial volume, vascularity index ( VI) , flow index ( FI) and vascularity flow index ( VFI) were measured. The diagnostic value of parameters derived from 3D-PDI was evaluated by using the receiver operating characteristic ( ROC) curve. Results Differences of these parameters (VI, FI and VFI) were considered statistically significant between two groups, the parameters of endometrial volume had no significant differences between two groups; the area under ROC curve(AUC) of the meaningful data were 0.976,0.888 and 0.894 respectively. Among these parameters, VI had the highest diagnostic value for discriminating between benign and malignant endometrium, the cut-off value of which was 2. 97 with a sensitivity of 95% and a specificity of 86%. Conclusions 3D-PDI is a good diagnostic tools in the discriminations between benign and malignant endometrium in women with postmenopausal bleeding.
