Objective To investigate the effectiveness of a higher-order thinking-oriented BOPPPS-based blended teach-ing model in otolaryngology-head and neck surgery education,focusing on its impact on the academic performance and teaching satisfaction of undergraduate clinical medicine students.Methods A total of 199 undergraduate clinical medicine students from Guangzhou Medical University were enrolled,divided into a control group(2021-2022 academic year,n=118)and an experi-mental group(2022-2023 academic year,n=81).The control group received conventional blended teaching via Chaoxing plat-form combined with case discussions,while the experimental group implemented the BOPPPS-integrated blended teaching model.Results Students in the experimental group achieved significantly higher average scores than the control group(Δ=11.71 points),with the excellent rate increasing from 0% to 11.1% and the failure rate decreasing to 1.2% .Additionally,the experi-mental group reported high satisfaction with the BOPPPS-integrated blended teaching model,with an overall satisfaction rate of 80.25%.Furthermore,54.32% of students expressed a preference for blended teaching approaches.Students widely acknowl-edged that this model facilitated flexible knowledge application.Conclusion The BOPPPS-integrated blended teaching model ef-fectively enhances the academic performance and teaching satisfaction of undergraduate clinical medicine students,providing a valuable reference for medical education reform oriented toward fostering higher-order thinking and clinical competency.

OBJECTIVE: To explore the change of nasal ventilation function in a group of SDB patients and its relationship to PSG parameters. METHOD: One hundred twenty-eight controls, 11 habitual snorers, 33 cases of mild-moderate OSAHS and 33 cases of severe OSAHS were examined. NN1 Rhinospirometer was used to measure unilateral nasal respiratory capacity (NC(un)) and bilateral nasal respiratory capacity (NC(bi)), and the nasal partitioning ratio (NPR) can be calculated. NR6 Rhinomanometry was used to measure total nasal inspiratory and expiratory resistance (TNRi, TNRe). A1 acoustic rhinometry was used to measure distances of the two notches to the nostril (MD1, MD2), cross-sectional areas of the two notches (MCA1, MCA2) and nasal volume from 0-5 cm (NV(0-5)). Moreover, make the correlational analysis on different index of nasal functional tests and PSG. RESULT: (1) Significant group differences were shown in NPR (P < 0.01). (2) TNRi and TNRe were statistical different among the groups (P < 0.01 or P < 0.05). (3) There are significant difference on MD1, MCA1, MCA2, NV(0-5) in male, but just on MD1 in female. (4) There was no correlation between PSG parameters and nasal functional parameters in SDB patients. But for certain subgroup analysis in female patients with a body mass index below 25, minimum oxygen saturation correlated significantly with MCA2 (r = 0.688, P < 0.05), arousal index correlated significantly with MCA1 (r = 0.543, P < 0.05). CONCLUSION The nasal anatomical structure and physiological function contribute to the pathogenesis of OSAHS, which may play a larger role in non-obese female patients.

Objective To evaluate the safety and efficacy of therapeutic ERCP for patients above 90 years of age.Methods The data of 37 patients of above 90 years who underwent 42 ERCP procedures from January 2001 to December 2009 were studied retrospectively and compared with those of 152 matched patients ( 168 procedures) below 65 years old at a 1∶4 ratio for success rate and complications.Results The rate of complete success,partial success,and failure in observation group was 73.81％ (31/42),19.05％(8/42) and 2.38％ (1/42),respectively,which were similar (P ＞0.05) with those in control group,with complete success rate at 85.12％ ( 143/168),partial success rate at 12.50％ (21/168) and failure rate at 2.38％ (4/168).The rate of terminated operation in observation group (4.76％,2/42) was significantly higher than that of the control group (0.00％,0,P =0.039).The overall rate of complication in observation group was 7.14％ ( 3/42 ),slightly higher than that of the control group ( 6.55％,11/168,P ＞0.05 ).There was no significant difference between the two groups regarding the rates and severity of such complications as pancreatitis,hemorrhage and infection ( P ＞ 0.05 ).No perforation or death was observed.Conclusion Therapeutic ERCP for patients of 90 years or older is safe and effective.Adverse events related to chronic concomitant diseases need early detection and proper management.
