:
To analyze the prevalence of anemia and iron deficiency among primary and secondary school students in Rural Nutrition Improvement Program areas of Guizhou Province in 2023, and to explore the related factors, so as to provide evidence for Rural Nutrition Improvement Program optimization.
Methods:
In September 2023, a stratified random cluster sampling strategy was used to select 40 rural compulsory education schools with rural nutrition improvement program in five counties of Guizhou Province. School level questionnaire was employed to collect information of basic characteristics and school meal implementation. A total of 7 826 primary and secondary school students aged 6-16 underwent anthropometry and hemoglobin (Hb) determination; serum ferritin (SF) was additionally measured in a random subsample of 1 795 pupils. Students in Grade 3 and above also completed a questionnaire covering demographic characteristics, dietary behaviours and nutrition knowledge. Group comparisons were conducted by Chi square test or Fisher s exact test, and multivariable Logistic regression models were constructed to identify factors associated with anemia and iron deficiency.
Results:
The overall Hb level was (133.21±12.95)g/L, with an anemia prevalence of 7.17%. The overall SF level was (69.58±59.01)μg/L, with an iron deficiency prevalence of 2.73%. Multivariable analysis showed that stunting ( OR =1.88), school menus without nutrient calculation ( OR =1.61) and absence of menu planning software in the current semester ( OR =2.34) independently increased anemia risk, whereas obesity reduced it ( OR =0.54) (all P <0.05). Girls ( OR =4.16) and Grades 7-9 ( OR =5.93) increased iron deficiency risk (both P <0.05). Compared with rarely eating fresh vegetables, students with consuming <3 kinds per day ( OR =0.08) or exactly 3 kinds per day ( OR =0.06) had lower iron deficiency risks (both P <0.05).
Conclusions
Anemia and iron deficiency are prevalent among primary and secondary school students in Guizhou. Targeted intervention measures should be implemented for key populations to enhance the effectiveness of nutrition improvement program.

Journal of Beijing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine 2026;49(1):10-15
This article adopts Professor CHEN Chaozu′s " sanjiao composed by membrane-striae" theory as its foundation to explore the relationship between irritable bowel syndrome and functional/structural abnormalities of the membrane-striae. Sanjiao encompasses both the tangible membrane and the intangible striae. These striae permeate the entire body, and their pathological changes comprehensively reflect qi,body fluids, and fasciae. Based on the physiological function of the membrane-striae in regulating qi and fluids, the pathogenesis of irritable bowel syndrome is characterized by a disharmony of membrane-striae and an imbalance of the qi-fluid interactions. In the early stage, external pathogens, emotional factors,or dietary stimuli often cause membrane-striae constriction and disordered qi-fluid circulation. In the middle stage, stagnant fluids gradually transform into phlegm retention, leading to membrane-striae obstruction. In the late stage, deficiency of vital qi becomes predominant, manifesting as laxity of membrane-striae with impaired control or weakened conduction. The treatment of irritable bowel syndrome should adopt " unblocking" as the guiding principle. In the early stage, therapy should focus on eliminating pathogenic factors and soothing membrane-striae to promptly restore qi-fluid circulation, thereby attaining unblocking through spasm relief. In the middle stage, treatment should focus on resolving tangible obstructions in membrane-striae,achieving unblocking via dredging. In the late stage, the emphasis should shift to reinforcing healthy qi,particularly by strengthening spleen-kidney yang qi,and achieving unblocking through supplementation. Concurrently, throughout the entire treatment process, the regulation of mental state and easing of emotional tension should be integrated to alleviate patient′s anxiety, achieving the goal of holistic treatment of both body and mind.

Objective To improve the analysis method of the blood components of Yinchenhao decoction (YCHD) in vivo and explore its anti-hepatocellular carcinoma mechanism. Methods Ultra-high performance liquid chromatography-quadrupole-time-of-flight mass spectrometry (UPLC-Q-TOF/MS) was used to collect and analyze blood samples from mice. The mice were given a single dose of YCHD with a concentration of 0.1 g/ml and a dose of 25 ml/kg, and then the samples were collected 2 h post–administration, which was to systematically study the chemical components of YCHD in vivo. Network pharmacological methods were used to screen the components and targets of YCHD, and the targets of hepatocellular carcinoma; The common targets of YCHD and hepatocellular carcinoma were identified for GO enrichment and KEGG enrichment. Molecular docking was performed on the main targets to verify the binding ability between the active ingredients and the core targets. The relative mRNA expression levels of serine/threonine-protein kinase(AKT1) and tumor protein p53(TP53) in liver tissues were analyzed via qPCR, including the following mouse groups: mice with concanavalin A(Con-A)-induced acute liver injury without preventive administration, mice with Con-A-induced acute liver injury that received 14 d preventive oral administration of YCHD, and untreated control mice. Results ①The active ingredients of YCHD in the blood were identified by retrieving the data from the in vitro component analysis. They were chrysophanol, herniarin, aloe-emodin, and monotropein. ②The mechanism of action of the blood components against hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) was further analyzed using network pharmacological methods, and a total of 30 components of YCHD were screened for 213 targets and 215 HCC targets. ③There were 17 intersection targets between YCHD and hepatocellular carcinoma, including AKT1, TP53, receptor tyrosine-protein kinase erbB-2 (ERBB2), myelocytomatosis oncogene (MYC), interleukin-1β (IL-1β), etc. The GO enrichment results indicated that these components were primarily involved in DNA replication, chromosome segregation, leukocyte mediated immunity, leukocyte cell-cell adhesion. The KEGG enrichment results demonstrated that these components were predominantly associated with diverse cancer pathways. Additionally, the results indicated involvement in the citrate cycle (TCA cycle), pyruvate metabolism, and p53 signaling pathway, ect. ④The results of molecular docking showed that chrysophanol, herniarin, and aloe - emodin had strong binding abilities with AKT1, TP53, ERBB2, MYC, and IL-1β. ⑤The relative expression of AKT1 and TP53 mRNA was significantly higher in the modelling group than in the control group. The relative expression of AKT1 and TP53 mRNA was significantly lower in the drug administration group than in the modelling group. Conclusion There were 4 blood components in YCHD, among which chrysophanol, herniarin, and aloe-emodin may act on AKT1, TP53, ERBB2, MYC, IL-1β and then participated in the regulation of cancer signaling pathways and p53 signaling pathway to play a role in the treatment of HCC.

OBJECTIVE To compare the efficacy and safety of evolocumab and probucol in patients with ultra-high-risk atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD) following percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). METHODS A retrospective analysis was conducted on 156 ultra-high-risk ASCVD patients who underwent PCI in our institution between January 1, 2023 and December 31, 2024. According to the lipid-lowering regimen, the patients were categorized into evolocumab group ( n =86) and probucol group ( n =70). Changes in lipid parameters [total cholesterol (TC), low-density lipoprot ein cholesterol (LDL-C), high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C), triglycerides, lipoprotein (a), and lipid goal achievement rate ] , inflammatory markers [interleukin-6 (IL-6) and C-reactive protein (CRP) ] , and cardiac function indices (left ventricular ejection fraction, left ventricular end-systolic diameter, left ventricular end-diastolic diameter, and N-terminal pro-B-type natriuretic peptide) were compared between two groups at baseline and after 6 months of treatment. The incidence of adverse clinical events during treatment, including acute myocardial infarction, in-stent restenosis, acute heart failure, cerebral hemorrhage, and stroke, was also evaluated. RESULTS No statistically significant differences were observed between the two groups at baseline ( P >0.05). After 6 months of treatment, both groups demonstrated significant improvements in lipid profiles (except HDL-C) and inflammatory markers compared to those at baseline ( P <0.05). The evolocumab group exhibited greater reductions in TC, LDL-C, IL-6, and CRP, along with a higher lipid target achievement rate, compared with the probucol group ( P <0.05). There were no statistically significant differences in the cardiac function-related indicators before and after treatment between the two groups, nor in the incidence of adverse events during the treatment ( P >0.05). CONCLUSIONS For ultra-high-risk ASCVD patients after PCI, both of the above treatment options are associated with improvements in blood lipid and inflammatory response, with good safety during short-term follow-up. Evolocumab shows superior efficacy in TC, LDL-C and inflammatory markers reduction and lipid target achievement, compared to probucol.

Objective: To address systemic challenges in the blood system, such as supply-demand imbalance, inefficient allocation, and inappropriate clinical use, while bridging gaps in current theories regarding the integration of social mobilization, institutional practice, and policy coordination. It sought to construct a system dynamics model spanning from macro to micro levels to analyze the blood management system holistically. Methods: Key variables were identified by a systematic literature search in both Chinese and English databases. An improved Delphi method was then employed to conduct expert consultations across different fields, leading to the selection and determination of core variable sets for each sub-model. Furthermore, by defining their logical relationships, a system dynamics model was constructed to systematically analyze the operation mechanism of the blood management system. Results: Four core sub-models were developed: 1) A macro "Dynamic Balance" model quantifying regional supply-demand equilibrium and inventory control; 2) a mobilization "Three-Layer Funnel" model analyzing how socio-cultural factors, service channels, and policy incentives influence donation behavior; 3) an institutional "Dual-Cycle Regulation" model revealing hospital blood usage is driven by both disease burden (demand cycle) and management practices (regulation cycle); and 4) an individual "Three-Layer Filter" model standardizing clinical transfusion decisions based on necessity, risk-benefit, and context. These were integrated into a "Multi-Layer Linkage and Feedback" model, elucidating bidirectional interactions among five levels: policy environment, regional supply, blood station mobilization, hospital application, and clinical decision-making. Conclusion: This study constructed a system dynamics model for blood management. By defining key variables and their logical relationships, it systematically analyzes the system′s operational mechanism. The integrated framework connects multiple levels—regional supply, voluntary donation, hospital blood use, and clinical decision-making—revealing their intrinsic linkages. Future efforts should employ systems thinking to synergistically enhance supply-side mobilization, demand-side management, systemic regulation, and decision standardization to build a safe, efficient, and sustainable blood security system.

ObjectiveTo evaluate the effect of neuromuscular electrical stimulation (NMES) on pain, quadriceps strength and motor function of patients after total knee arthroplasty (TKA). MethodsThe databases of CNKI, Wanfang data, VIP, PubMed, Embase, Cochrane, Web of Science and Scopus were retrieved from inception to April, 2025. Randomized controlled trials (RCT) related to the intervention of NMES after TKA were collected. The quality of the included literature was evaluated using the Cochrane Risk of Bias Assessment Tool and the Physical Therapy Evidence Database (PEDro) scale. Meta-analysis was performed with RevMan 5.4. ResultsA total of twelve RCT were included, involving 772 subjects. The PEDro scale score ranged from four to seven. NMES improved postoperative quadriceps muscle strength (SMD = 0.61, 95%CI 0.34 to 0.88, P < 0.001) and knee flexion range of motion (SMD = 1.35, 95%CI 0.30 to 2.41, P = 0.010), and reduced the Timed Up and Go Test (TUGT) time (SMD = -0.86, 95%CI -1.45 to -0.26, P = 0.005). Compared with the control group, the intervention group achieved better outcomes in the 2-Minute Walk Test (2MWT) (SMD = 19.44, 95%CI 10.44 to 30.43, P < 0.001), 3-Minute Walk Test (SMD = 23.57, 95%CI 14.77 to 32.36, P < 0.001), 6-Minute Walk Test (SMD = 42.29, 95%CI 9.71 to 74.86, P = 0.010), Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Osteoarthritis Index (WOMAC) (SMD = -0.52, 95%CI -1.00 to -0.04, P = 0.040), as well as the Physical Component Summary (PCS) (SMD = 2.90, 95%CI 0.73 to 5.06, P = 0.009) and Mental Component Summary (MCS) (SMD = 2.84, 95%CI 1.40 to 4.28, P = 0.040) of the 36-Item Short Form Health Survey (SF-36). Subgroup analysis demonstrated that two to four weeks after surgery, NMES enhanced patients' quadriceps muscle strength (SMD = 0.90, 95%CI 0.58 to 1.21, P < 0.001), shortened TUGT time (SMD = -1.28, 95%CI -2.57 to -0.02, P < 0.05) and increased walking distance in 2MWT (SMD = 20.43, 95%CI 10.44 to 30.43, P < 0.001). For patients followed up for two to three months, NMES yielded improvements in WOMAC scores (SMD = -0.44, 95%CI -0.79 to -0.09, P = 0.010) and SF-36 MCS scores (SMD = 4.17, 95%CI 2.43 to 5.91, P < 0.001). ConclusionNMES can significantly improve the quadriceps strength and walking ability of the TKA patients two to four weeks after surgery, and enhance the quality of life of patients two to three months after surgery.

Cancer Research on Prevention and Treatment 2026;53(6):440-447
Hyperthermic intrathoracic chemotherapy (HITHOC) is a localized treatment that combines hyperthermia with medications such as chemotherapy, anti-angiogenic agents, targeted therapy, or immunotherapeutic agents. It has advanced clinical progress for conditions such as malignant pleural mesothelioma, pleural metastasis of lung cancer, and pleural dissemination of thymic tumors. Systematic analyses indicate that as an adjuvant therapy to cytoreductive surgery, HITHOC improves patient survival and effectively controls pleural effusion and pleural metastasis. It exerts antitumor effects by enhancing drug penetration through thermal effects, inducing apoptosis, and modulating the immune microenvironment. HITHOC combined with systemic therapies (e.g., chemotherapy, targeted therapy, and immunotherapy) demonstrates synergistic potential, but its role as a local treatment should be clearly defined as adjunctive within the comprehensive management of advanced-stage patients. Further research is needed to clarify its indications, standardized protocols, and long-term efficacy and to explore optimized regimens and personalized combination treatment strategies. This review delves into the key bottlenecks hindering the development of hyperthermia therapy, such as the lack of high-level evidence-based medicine and the absence of standardized diagnostic and efficacy evaluation criteria, and proposes potential solutions.
