1.The value of magnetic resonance diffusion kurtosis imaging in the assessment of the condition and prognosis of neonatal acute bilirubin encephalopathy

Objective:To explore the value of magnetic resonance diffusion kurtosis imaging (DKI) in the assessment of the condition and prognosis of neonatal acute bilirubin encephalopathy (ABE).Methods:A retrospective selection was made of 196 neonates with acute hyperbilirubinemia who were hospitalized in the Second Affiliated Hospital of Shantou University Medical College from June 2021 to September 2023 as the research subjects. According to the presence or absence of brain injury, they were divided into the ABE group ( n=112) and the non-ABE group ( n=84). Based on the neonatal Bilirubine-induced Neurological Dysfunction (BIND) scoring system, children in the ABE group were divided into the mild group ( n=50, score 1-3 points), the moderate group ( n=33, score 4-6 points), and the severe group ( n=29, score 7-9 points). The clinical data and DKI parameters among each group were analyzed. Univariate and multivariate analyses were used to evaluate the influencing factors of prognosis in children with ABE. The receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve was used to analyze the diagnostic value of DKI parameters for the prognosis of children with ABE. Results:The birth weight and gestational age in the ABE group were significantly lower than those in the non-ABE group, and the peak value of total bilirubin (TBIL) was significantly higher than that in the non-ABE group (all P<0.05). There was no statistically significant difference in fractional anisotropy (FA) values and mean diffusivity (MD) values among each group of children (all P>0.05). The mean kurtosis (MK) values, axial kurtosis (KA) values, and radial kurtosis (KR) values of children with ABE in the severe group were significantly higher than those in the other groups (all P<0.05). After Spearman correlation analysis, the FA value and MD value of children with ABE were not correlated with the severity of the disease (all P>0.05), while the MK value, KA value and KR value were positively correlated with the severity of the disease (all P<0.05). The patients were followed up for 12 months. Among them, 87 cases had a normal prognosis and 25 cases had a poor prognosis, including 2 cases of cerebral palsy, 5 cases of hearing loss, 4 cases of movement disorders, 12 cases of cerebral palsy combined with hearing loss, and 2 cases of movement disorders combined with hearing loss. The results of univariate analysis showed that there were statistically significant differences in birth weight, peak TBIL, BIND score, MK value, KA value, and KR value between the two groups of children with different prognoses (all P<0.05). The results of Cox multivariate regression analysis showed that birth weight, peak TBIL, BIND score, MK value, KA value, and KR value were independent influencing factors for poor prognosis in children with ABE (all P<0.05). The results of the ROC curve showed that the area under the curve and specificity of the MK value in predicting the poor prognosis of children with ABE were significantly higher than those of the KA and KR values (all P<0.05). Conclusions:The DKI parameters MK value, KA value, and KR value are sensitive indicators reflecting the severity of brain injury and predicting prognosis in children with ABE, among which the MK value has the highest predictive value.

3.Effects of artesunate on hypoxia reoxygenation-induced HK-2 cell injury by regulating HMGB1-RAGE signaling pathway

Objective To investigate the effect of artesunate(ART)on hypoxia/reoxygenation(H/R)-induced injury of human renal proximal tubular HK-2 cells by regulating the high mobility group protein B1(HMGB1)-receptor of advanced glycation endproduct(RAGE)signaling pathway.Methods HK-2 cells cultured in vitro were stochastically separated into control group,model group,L-ART group(4 μg/ml ART),H-ART group(16 μg/ml ART),H-ART+pcDNA NC group(16 μg/ml ART+transfected pcDNA NC plasmid),and H-ART+pcDNA-HMGB1 group(16 μg/ml ART+transfected pcDNA-HMGB1 plasmid).HK-2 cells in the control group were cultured normally,while the cells in the other groups were induced with hypoxia/reoxygenation(H/R).MTT and plate clone formation experiments were applied to detect the proliferation of cells in each group;ELISA kits were used to measure the expression of interleukin(IL)-1β,IL-6 and tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α)in various groups;flow cytometry was applied to detect the apoptosis in various groups;Western blot was applied to detect the expression of proliferation related proteins(PCNA),apoptosis related proteins(Bcl-2,Bax),and HMGB1-RAGE signaling pathway related proteins(HMGB1,RAGE)in each group.Results Compared with the control group,the survival rate,clone number,PCNA and Bcl-2 proteins expression of HK-2 cells decreased in the model group,but the apoptosis rate,IL-1β,IL-6,TNF-α,Bax,HMGB1 and RAGE proteins expression increased(P<0.05).Compared with the model group,the survival rate,clone number,PCNA and Bcl-2 proteins expression of HK-2 cells increased in L-ART and H-ART groups,but the apoptosis rate,IL-1β,IL-6,TNF-α,Bax,HMGB1 and RAGE proteins expression decreased(P<0.05).Compared with the H-ART and H-ART+pcDNA NC groups,the survival rate,clone number,PCNA and Bcl-2 proteins expression of HK-2 cells decreased in the H-ART+pcDNA-HMBB1 group,but the apoptosis rate,IL-1β,IL-6,TNF-α,Bax,HMGB1 and RAGE proteins expression increased(P<0.05).Conclusion ART may suppress inflammatory response and cell apoptosis,promote cell proliferation,and alleviate H/R-induced injury of renal proximal tubular HK-2 cells by inhibiting the HMGB1-RAGE signaling pathway.

5.Exploration on the training model of applied undergraduate pharmacy talents under the perspective of industry education integration

This research analyzes and explores the elements of the industry education integration in the process of pharmacy talent training from two aspects: collaborative education (professional construction, curriculum co-construction, skill deepening and talent transfer) and collaborative innovation (base expansion, technological research and completion innovation). Besides, this research also explores the outstanding performance of School of Pharmacy of Xiamen Medical College in talent training of the industry education integration. The results show that through the construction of collaborative education and collaborative innovation, the elements of the industry education integration in the cultivation of pharmacy talents in the school have become increasingly prominent, and the forms have been gradually diversified, which have promotion and guiding significance for other majors in our school to develop the industry education integration.
6.Reproducibility of balanced steady-state free-precession sequences non-contrast MR coronary angiography with different scanning modalities

Objective:To investigate the reproducibility of whole-heart and volume-targeted balanced steady-state free precession (bSSFP) non-contrast MR coronary angiography (CMRA) for displaying coronary trunks.Methods:From February and September 2021, the whole-heart and volume-targeted CMRA examinations of 58 volunteers were prospectively and consecutively acquired in The First Affiliated Hospital of Fujian Medical University. Each volunteer underwent CMRA twice within a week. The subjective score, vessel-to-myocardium ratio (VMR), vessel-to-fat ratio (VFR), signal-noise ratio (SNR), and coronary corresponding coordinate was analyzed and extracted. Inter-observer, intra-observer and inter-scan consistency were evaluated by intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC), Bland-Altman analysis, Hausdorff Distance (HD), and Dice Similarity Coefficient (DSC).Results:The inter-observer and intra-observer consistencies of subjective scores, VMR, and VFR of the whole-heart and volume-targeted coronary artery images were excellent (ICC>0.76, P<0.001). The inter-scan VFR consistencies of RCA, LM, and LCX of whole-heart coronary scans were moderate (ICC=0.235, 0.264, 0.380, all P<0.05), while the consistencies of the remaining variables were good, (all ICCs>0.49, P<0.001). Bland-Altman method showed that most VMR, VFR, and SNR of two CMRA imaging were within the 95% limits of agreement. Whole-heart CMRA inter-and intra-observer mean HD was 1.79 (1.35, 3.25), 1.68 (1.09, 4.10), mean DSC was 0.96±0.04, 0.97±0.03. Volume-targeted CMRA inter-and intra-observer mean HD were 1.74 (1.63, 3.11), 1.74 (1.63, 1.98), and the mean DSC was 0.91±0.10, 0.95±0.05. The subjective score of raw images of the total artery trunk of volume-targeted CMRA [3.86 (3.68,4.00) vs. 3.80 (3.58,3.96) ], VMR [1.45 (1.27,1.58) vs. 1.22 (1.13,1.41) ], and VFR [7.36 (6.44,8.60) vs. 5.97 (4.97,6.64) ] were better than those of whole-heart CMRA (all P<0.05). The overall subjective score of whole-heart CMRA coronary trunk curved projection reformation was better than volume-targeted CMRA [3.75 (3.57, 3.88) vs. 3.63 (3.44, 3.71)] ( P<0.001). Conclusions:Whole-heart and volume-targeted bSSFP non-contrast CMRA represent good reproducibility and image quality in the main coronary artery of healthy volunteers. Both of the two methods have their advantages and complement each other.

8.Epidemiological analysis of malaria prevalence in Taixing City from 2005 to 2015

Objective To understand the malaria prevalence and epidemic characteristics in Taixing City from 2005 to 2015,so as to provide the evidences for formulating the prevention and control strategy. Methods The malaria data of Internet reported cases as well as the reports on epidemiological survey of malaria cases in Taixing City from 2005 to 2015 were collected and analyzed with the methods of descriptive statistics and correlation analysis. Results A total of 61 malaria cases were report?ed in Taixing City from 2005 to 2015,including 4 local cases and 57 imported cases. There were 9 cases of vivax malaria,47 cases of falciparum malaria,2 cases of malariae malaria,and 3 cases of ovale malaria. There was no seasonality in the occur?rence of imported malaria. Though there was no correlation between the times of malaria attack and the duration for going out (r = 0.154 ,P = 0.253),there was a negative correlation between the former and the timeliness for visiting a doctor (r = -0.312,P=0.014). Conclusions The malaria cases are mainly imported ones in Taixing City,and the Plasmodium spe?cies of infection are diverse. Imported malaria overseas remains the key point for malaria control in Taixing City.
9.Investigation on infections of human intestinal parasites in Taixing City

Objective To understand the current status of infections of intestinal parasites of population in Taixing City,Ji-angsu Province. Methods The infection rates and densities of human intestinal parasites were investigated according to the methods of the National Investigation Scheme on Human Principal Parasites,and the data of society,economy and disease con-trol were collected and analyzed. Results Among 2 556 people investigated in five villages,16 persons were found with intesti-nal parasites, with an infection rate of 0.63%. The infection rate was higher in residents with a low education level than in others and it was higher in the age group over 50 years than in the group under 50 years. The infection density was mild and the most was the single parasite infection. Conclusions The current status of intestinal parasite infections of population in Taixing City has reached the county-level control standard of Jiangsu Province. Therefore,the preventive strategy and measures should be ad-justed and the monitoring work should be strengthened.
