Background Work-related musculoskeletal disorders (WMSDs) are a major occupational health concern, particularly among workers exposed to adverse ergonomic conditions. Manganese production involves heavy physical demands, yet research on WMSDs among manganese workers remains limited. Objective To investigate the prevalence and influencing factors of WMSDs among manganese workers in a manganese enterprise in Guangxi. Methods A cross-sectional survey was conducted from May to June 2024 on workers at a manganese factory in Guangxi. The Chinese Musculoskeletal Disorders Questionnaire was used to collect information on demographic characteristics, distribution of musculoskeletal symptoms, and work-related exposures. χ² test was applied to compare differences in positive WMSDs rates across groups, and logistic regression analysis was performed to identify associated factors. Results A total of 1476 workers were enrolled in the study after pre-determined inclusion and exclusion criteria. The overall prevalence of WMSDs was 34.15%. The most commonly affected body regions were the lower back (17.28%), neck (16.67%), and shoulders (13.82%). The results of logistic regression analysis indicated that female, older age, and education level of college or above were associated with a higher risk of WMSDs (P<0.05). Awkward working postures were significantly associated with WMSDs in corresponding body regions; in particular, awkward postures of the neck, upper limbs, trunk, and lower limbs were related to an increased risk of WMSDs in multiple body sites (P<0.05). In addition, poor lighting conditions, high workplace temperature, frequent or sustained arm support during work, and high job demands were associated with an increased risk of overall or site-specific WMSDs (P<0.05). Conclusion The high prevalence of WMSDs among manganese workers is closely associated with demographic characteristics, working postures, and work environment and organizational factors. Targeted ergonomic interventions focusing on high-risk body regions and key ergonomic exposures are warranted to reduce the risk of WMSDs among manganese workers.

To formulate an expert consensus on the principles of preoperative hair removal and provide scientific guidance for standardized removal of hair before surgical procedures so as to reduce the incidence of surgical site infections.METHODS Led by the Hospital Management Institute of National Health Commission of the People's Republic of China,this consensus was reached with the joint efforts from the expects of relevant fields such as surgeries,interventional therapies,nursing,and infection prevention and control.The consensus facilitates the classification and evaluation of literatures by following the evidence grade formulated by Oxford Evidence-based Medicine Center and focuses on the association of preoperative hair removal with surgical site infection,it reaches the evidence grade of expert consensus and recommendation intensity by integrating with discussions on meetings and clinical experience of the expects from relevant fields.RESULTS A total of 6 items of consensus were reached by summarizing the latest evidence on the aspects including the indications for preoperative hair removal,tools,range,timing and places.CONCLUSION The consensus,to some extent,make supplements to and complete the exiting regulations and standards.It provides guidance for the medical institutions to carry out the preoperative hair removal.

Objective: To analyze the case characteristics of Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease caused by occupational irritant chemicals (OI-COPD). To provide basis for revising its diagnostic criteria. Methods: From June to December 2021, we investigated the information of OI-COPD patients confirmed by Shandong Institute of Occupational Health and Prevention of Occupational Diseases, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Institute of Occupational Disease Prevention and Control, Qingdao Central Hospital affiliated to Qingdao University and other diagnostic institutions in the past five years, a total of 41 cases. The basic information of OI-COPD cases, occupational risk factors exposure information, medical history, smoking history and clinical symptoms were analyzed retrospectively. The measurement data were tested for normal distribution, which was described by x±s, and compared between groups by t test; Those who do not conform to the normal distribution are described by the median [M (Q(1), Q(3)) ] and analyzed by nonparametric test; The counting data were expressed in frequency and rate (% ), and the comparison between groups was tested. Results: Of the 41 cases, 33 were male and 8 were female. The age of the patient diagnosed with OI-COPD was (49.5±10.3) years old, and the minimum age was 30 years old; Among them, 8 patients had a definite long-term smoking history (more than 5 years) ; The exposure duration of occupational risk factors was (18.6±10.3) years, of which 3 patients had exposure duration of less than 5 years; The occupational risk factors leading to OI-COPD include acids and acid-forming compounds, bases, aldehydes, nitrogen oxides, chlorine and its compounds, etc. The exposure level of occupational risk factors is related to the degree of COPD airflow restriction (χ(2)=6.17, P <0.05). 18 patients with diagnosis age <50 years old were diagnosed as early-onset COPD. The incidence of respiratory symptoms in the early diagnosis COPD group was lower than that in the non-early diagnosis COPD group, and the FEV1% pred was significantly higher than that in the non-early diagnosis COPD group. The difference was statistically significant (P<0.01 ) . Conclusion: The exposure level of occupational risk factors may be the risk factor affecting the degree of COPD airflow restriction. With the increase of the exposure level of COPD patients, the proportion of respiratory symptoms will also increase accordingly.

Abstract Atopic eczema (AE) is a complex, chronic and recurrent inflammatory pruritic skin condition that impacts the quality of life and exerts an economic toll on patients and their families. One of the factors contributing to AE is the immune dysregulation of the Janus kinase-signal transducers and activators of transcription (JAK-STAT) inflammatory pathway. This has prompted the conduct of various large clinical trial programs to evaluate the efficacy and safety of Janus kinase inhibitors (JAK-i) for AE. The overall and significant benefit of these drugs from clinical studies resulted in regulatory approvals for JAK-i to treat moderate-to-severe atopic eczema. The objective of this position paper was to evaluate the safety, efficacy and role of upadacitinib, baricitinib and abrocitinib in managing AE and update the current recommended treatment algorithm within the 2018 Malaysian Clinical Practice Guidelines for the Management of Atopic Eczema. The Persatuan Dermatologi Malaysia recommends that these JAK-i can be considered as an option for systemic therapy in severe AE.

Manganese is an element essential for living organisms. Development of industrial technologies and exploitation of mineral resources have led to the release of large amount of Mn(Ⅱ) into the environment, posing a serious threat to human health. Bioremediation can remove the Mn(Ⅱ) from the environment rapidly and effectively without generating secondary pollution, thus received increasing attention. This review summarized the diversity and distribution of Mn(Ⅱ) removal microorganisms and the associated mechanisms, followed by discussing the effect of environmental factors on microbial Mn(Ⅱ) removal. Finally, the challenges and prospects for bioremediation of Mn(Ⅱ) polluted wastewater were proposed.

OBJECTIVE: To compare the outcomes of endoscopic combined ultrasound-guided access (EUGA) with the conventional ultrasound-guided access (UGA) to achieve percutaneous renal access in endoscopic combined intrarenal surgery (ECIRS). METHODS: A retrospective review of 53 patients undergoing ECIRS to treat upper urinary tract calculi between January 2017 and October 2019 was con-ducted. All of the cases were of complex upper urinary tract stones larger than 2 cm in diameter. The com-plex stone situations, such as multiple renal calyces calculi or staghorn calculi necessitated ECIRS. Under general anesthesia, the patients were placed in the galdakao-modified supine valdivia (GMSV) position, thus allowing both antegrade and retrograde accesss. The patients were divided to UGA and EUGA groups according to the protocol of achieving percutaneous renal access. In 28 cases, endoscopic combined ultrasound-guided accesss were obtained. Puncture and dilation were performed under direct flexible ureteroscopic visualization, while percutaneous renal access of 25 cases were performed with the conventional technique employing ultrasound guidance. Demographic and perioperative information, such as stone burden, presence of hydronephrosis and number of calyces involved was compared. Primary outcomes included total operative time, renal access time, repeat puncture, hemoglobin level, perioperative complications, and stone-free rate. RESULTS: No major intra-operative complication was recorded in all the 53 ECRIS. No significant difference was observed between the groups in age and gender. There was no significant difference in body mass index[BMI (29.21±3.14) kg/m² vs.(28.53±2.56) kg/m²], stone burden (37.68±6.89) mm vs. (35.53±6.52) mm, number of calyces involved 2.72±0.68 vs. 2.86±0.71, presence of hydronephrosis (56.0% vs. 46.4%), total operative time (93.0±12.2) min vs. (96.8±14.2) min, hemoglobin level reduction (6.56±2.16) g/L vs. 97.54±2.64) g/L, stone-free rate (92.0% vs. 92.8%), hospital stay (5.52±0.59) d vs. (5.64±0.62) d, perioperative complication rate (8.0% vs. 7.2%). Two patients in EUGA group experienced perioperative complications (one urinary tract infection and one hematuria) while two patients in UGA group experienced perioperative urinary tract infection. None in both groups received blood transfusion. The patients undergoing EUGA had shorter renal access time [(4.0±0.7) min vs. (6.8±2.6) min, P < 0.01] and less repeat puncture (0 vs. 4 cases, P < 0.05). CONCLUSION EUGA is an optimal technique to establish percutaneous renal access in ECIRS, which minimizes access time and repeated procedures.

Objective: To explore the rules of TCM treatment of Asthma on different syndromes. Methods: We searched the modern clinical literature of asthma treated by TCM form Chinese Clinical Literature Database, SinoMed, CNKI, Wanfang Database and CQVIP from 1949-2017, collected key information such as diseases, syndromes, and drug composition by human-computer integration and constructed a database. We calculated the co-occurrence matrix of syndrome-herb and the frequent item sets of herb for different syndromes using TCM Miner (http://tcmminer.cintcm.com:8023/tcm/index.jsp). The prescription and treatment of asthma with different syndrome were analyzed, and a new medicine prescription was proposed for common five kinds of common syndromes. Results: There were 234 articles containing 124 syllables, 1 337 prescriptions and 290 herbs. For different syndromes, the high-frequency medicine was obviously different, which reflected the important ideas of TCM syndrome differentiation. According to five common syndromes including fever syndrome, cold syndrome, lung-spleen qi deficiency syndrome and kidney-yang deficiency syndrome, five new drug prescriptions have evolved. Conclusions Analysis of TCM prescriptions based on differentiating syndromes can explore the essence of TCM and provided ideas and data support for researchers.

BACKGROUNDPreterm birth is a common cause of death in newborns and may result from many determinants, but evidence for the socioeconomic and environmental determinants of preterm birth in Tibetan women of childbearing age is limited. The aim of this study was to understand the current status of preterm birth in native Tibetan women and investigate the socioeconomic and environmental determinants.

METHODSData were drawn from a cohort study which was conducted from August 2006 to August 2012 in rural Lhasa, Tibet, China. A total of 1419 Tibetan pregnant women were followed from 20 weeks' gestation until delivery; the loss to follow-up rate was 4.69%. The incidence of preterm birth was estimated to show the status of preterm births in Tibet. Logistic regression models for longitudinal data were established, and odds ratios (ORs) together with 95% confidence intervals (CIs) were used to evaluate the association between the occurrence of preterm birth and 16 selected potential determinants based on the hierarchical conceptual frame.

RESULTSThe incidence of preterm birth was 4.58% (95% CI = 3.55-5.80%). After adjusting for health-related variables of the mothers and newborns, socioeconomic and environmental determinants associated with preterm birth included season (spring: OR = 0.28, 95% CI = 0.09-0.84; autumn: OR = 0.21, 95% CI = 0.06-0.69; and winter: OR = 0.31, 95% CI = 0.12-0.82) and calendar year of delivery (2010: OR = 5.03, 95% CI = 1.24-20.35; 2009: OR = 6.62, 95% CI = 1.75-25.10; and 2007-2008: OR = 5.93, 95% CI = 1.47-23.90).

CONCLUSIONSThe incidence of preterm birth among native Tibetan women was low and there was a decreasing trend in recent years; however, it is still essential to strengthen seasonal maternal care, extend the spacing between pregnancies, and reinforce adequate maternal nutrition.

Objective To evaluate the application value of superb micro-vascular imaging (SMI) technology in gastric cancer.Methods Data of color Doppler flow imaging (CDFI) and SMI of 69 patients with gastric cancer confirmed by pathology were analyzed retrospectively.The positive rate in displaying the blood flow,the thickness of gastric carcer lesion with blood flow signal and the grade of blood flow obtained with CDFI and SMI were compared.Results The positive rate of blood flow was 75.36％ (52/69) of CDFI and 95.65％ (66/69) of SMI,respectively.The difference of positive rate between the two methods was statistically significant (x2 =11.461,P=0.001).The thickness of gastric cancer lesion with blood flow signal measured with CDFI was (19.92±4.54)mm,and that measured with SMI was (16.92±5.77)mm (t=2.048,P=0.043).There was statistical difference of the grades of blood flow between SMI and CDFI (Z=5.354,P＜ 0.001).Conclusion SMI technology is more sensitive for the low flow velocity of micro vessels signal in gastric carcinomas compared with CDFI,which can provide valuable reference for clinic.
