Objective:To observe the effect of intermittent theta burst transcranial magnetic stimulation (iTBS) on the language use, daily communication, and serum brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) levels of stroke survivors with motor aphasia (PSMA).Methods:A total of 60 PSMA patients were recruited and randomly divided into a control group and a treatment group, each of 30. Both groups received conventional speech training, while the treatment group additionally received daily 10-minute iTBS stimulation over the left dorsolateral prefrontal cortex, five days per week, for two weeks. Before and after the treatment, language function and daily communication were assessed using the Chinese Rehabilitation Research Center Standard Aphasia Examination (CRRCAE) and the Communication Activities of Daily Living (CADL) scale. Serum BDNF levels were measured using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay.Results:After treatment, the CRRCAE and CADL scores in the treatment group were significantly higher than among the control group. The post-treatment serum BDNF levels in the treatment and control groups were (27.03±6.91)ng/ml and (22.20±5.89)ng/ml, respectively, both significantly higher than their pre-treatment levels. The average post-treatment serum BDNF level in the treatment group was significantly higher than the control group′s average.Conclusions:iTBS stimulation with speech training can better improve the language function and daily communication ability of stroke survivors with motor aphasia. The mechanism may be related to increased serum BDNF level.

Objective To investigate the correlation of cystatin C(Cys C) serum level and its gene polymorphism among Zhuang population with Metabolic Syndrome(MS) of Guangxi district.Methods The levels of serum Cys C in Zhuang MS patients,Han MS patients,Zhuang normal people and Han normal people(each of 100 cases)were detected by Immunoturbidimetric Assays.Cys C +148,Cys C+73 and Cys C-82 genotyping were conducted by using PCR-RFLP.Results The clinical data and serum Cys C levels of four groups were significantly different(P＜0.05),The clinical data and serum Cys C levels of two CHD groups were significantly different from those in the two normal groups(P＜0.05);(2) There was a positive correlation between Cys C levels and creatinine(Cr) level in peripheral blood(r=0.551,P=0.000);(3) There was no significant difference in the genotype frequencies of Cys C+73,Cys C+ 148 and Cys C-82 in 4 groups(x2 =3.139,0.791;x2 =4.841,P=0.564;x2 =3.207,P=0.782);(4)Cys C level in MS patients of Cys C+73 GG genotype was significantly lower than that of AG and AA genotype,and the difference was statistically significant (P ＜ 0.05).But there was no significant difference in Cys C level between AG type and AA type.Conclusion The high level of Cys C caused by impaired renal function may be a risk factor for MS patients in Zhuang and Han population in Guangxi.Cys C+73 locus gene polymorphism and the relationship between MS patients in Guangxi Zhuang population need further study.

Objective To evaluate the effect of ditching for drain on the control of the breed of Oncomelania hupensis snails in beaches of Dongting Lake. Methods From November,2009 to November,2012,an O. hupensis snail infested beach of the Yueyang jail and an O. hupensis snail infested beach of Junshan District were selected as research fields in the eastern Dongting Lake area,and the former,as the intervention field,was performed with the ditching for drain by excavators and the latter,as the control field,was not. Results Before the project implemented,the average soil moisture contents on the beaches in dry seasons of the two fields were both about 35.56%. After the project implemented,in the intervention field,the average soil mois?ture content was 26.53%which was significantly lower than that(35.56%)in the control field(F=6.53,P<0.05). The under?ground water levels in different heights in the intervention field were lower than those in the control field (χ2 = 33.33,P <0.05). Before the project implemented,the natural death rates of the snails were 0.98%and 0.89%in the two research fields re?spectively(P>0.05),and after the project implemented(in 2012),no adult and young snails were found in the interventional field,but in the control field,the average densities of living snails and young snails were 29.37 snails/0.1 m2 and 213±108.45 snails/0.1 m2 respectively. Conclusion The intervention of ditching for drain can decrease the soil moisture contents quickly and change the ecological condition,therefore,can control the breed of O. hupensis snails in the beaches of Dongting Lake.

METHODSEight extracorporeal porcine liver perfusions using autologous blood were performed, each for 96 h with hepatectomy, cold preservation, cannulation of vessels, and initiation of perfusion with normothermic oxygenated porcine blood. The graft viability was assessed by metabolic, synthetic, hemodynamic, and histologic parameters.

RESULTSAfter 96 h of normothermic, extracorporeal perfusion using autologous blood, the isolated livers maintained normal physiological levels of pH and electrolytes with sustained hepatic protein synthesis (complement and factor V) throughout the perfusion. Hemodynamic parameters maintained normal physiological ranges. Histological inspection demonstrated good preservation of the liver with a good architectural integrity.

CONCLUSIONIt is possible to sustain the viable status of a liver graft within 96 h by extracorporeal perfusion using autologous blood.
