Polysaccharide microneedle systems(PSMNs), as an emerging drug delivery technology, have demonstrated significant promise in recent years for treating corneal diseases. These systems overcome the limitations of traditional therapies, such as low bioavailability and poor patient compliance. This article systematically reviews the core research advances in PSMNs. First, microneedles are fabricated using natural polysaccharides like chitosan and hyaluronic acid, using precise manufacturing techniques such as mold casting and 3D printing. Second, drug release depends on microchannels formed by mechanical insertion of microneedles, enhancing drug permeation; moreover, chemically responsive materials are employed to control sustained-release kinetics. These materials synergize with the degradation mechanisms of polysaccharides to prolong the duration of therapeutic effect. Furthermore, PSMNs have been clinically applied for anti-inflammatory repair in dry eye disease, targeted antibacterial treatment of keratitis, and precise gene delivery. Research elucidates that PSMNs significantly enhance drug bioavailability by over ten-fold through a three-pronged mechanism involving efficient delivery, tissue repair, and immune regulation, while leveraging the inherent biocompatibility and biodegradability of polysaccharides to reduce side effects. This review provides a theoretical foundation for developing minimally invasive treatments for corneal diseases, propelling diagnostics and therapy towards more precise approaches.

Objective: To evaluate the effectiveness of Bian stone warming and ironing combined with aromatherapy on postpartum urinary retention among lying-in women with painless delivery, so as to provide the reference for preventing postpartum urinary retention after painless delivery. Methods: Lying-in women who underwent painless delivery in the Hangzhou Women' s Hospital were randomly assigned into the intervention and control group. Participants in the intervention group were given Bian stone warming and ironing combined with essential oil aromatherapy, while participants in the control group were given routine nursing care. The first postpartum urination and urinary retention were recorded, nursing satisfaction was investigated using Newcastle Satisfaction with Nursing Scale, the quality of life was evaluated using The World Health Organization Quality of Life-BREF, and these indicators were compared between the two groups. Results: There were 92 participants in the intervention group, with a mean age of (26.51±1.31) years and mean gestational age of (38.11±0.55) weeks, and 86 participants in the control group, with a mean age of (26.61±1.24) years and mean gestational age of (38.28±0.72) weeks. There was no statistically significant difference in the general data between the two groups (P>0.05). The time of first urination in the intervention group was shorter than that in the control group [(2.91±1.02) h vs. (3.76±1.68) h], the first postpartum urine volume was more than that in the control group [(160.56±21.03) mL vs. (142.43±18.42) mL], the residual urine volume of the bladder after the first urination was less than that in the control group [(73.20±17.03) mL vs. (85.46±20.24) mL], the incidence of urinary retention was lower than that in the control group (3.26% vs. 10.47%), nursing satisfaction was higher than that in the control group, and the increase in scores of all dimensions of quality of life was greater than that in the control group, with statistically significant differences (all P<0.05). Conclusions Bian stone warming and ironing therapy combined with aromatherapy may effectively reduce the incidence of postpartum urinary retention, and improve nursing satisfaction and quality of life among lying-in women after painless delivery.

Objective To make a rapid dose estimation for a patient exposed locally to high dose radiation exposure in early stage of 5.7 192Ir source accident in Nanjing.Methods Based on source parameters,exposure pattern,and time duration,the doses were estimated using MCNP simulations with the aid of the proper East Asia adult male voxel phantom and main physiological parameters of the exposed patient.Result Absorbed doses to 16 organs or tissues were estimated to be in the range 0.03 to 9.16 Gy.Also,the iso-dose curves for the skin of legs showed clearly the dose difference between right and left legs.Absorbed doses to patient's testicles and prostrate,about 9.16 Gy,were higher than those to other organs or tissues.The skin of both legs was exposed locally to high dose radiation exposure,for which the estimated doses were in agreement with the results obtained from infrared thermal imaging.Conclusions Monte Carlo simulation technique and common software can be used for dose estimation in early stage of radiation accidents effectively with integrating proper models.

Objective To explore the clinical value of spiral CT airway measurements on awake patients under OSAHS discussed. Methods The upper airway of 104 patients with OSAHS diagnosed with polysomnography (PSG) and 25 nor-mal controls were examined and compared. The cross-sectional areas, diameters, and the thickness of the pharyngeal wall of retropalate, lingua regions planes were scanned by MSCT scan in the waking state. Results The cross-section areas of upper airway of OSAHS were significantly smaller than those of the control group, the difference was significant (P<0.05). The cross-section areas decreased and the thickness of pharyngeal walls increased with the increase of severity of OSAHS. Conclusion Patients with OSAHS has upper airway anatomic strictures. MSCT scan can effectively localize the obstructed site and degree of upper airway accurately.

Objective To evaluate the clinical value of Apneagraph(AG200)and CT scan in diagnosing obstructive sleep apnea hypopnea syndrome(OSAHS). Methods Twenty-two moderate and 18 severe obstructive sleep apnea hypopnea syndrome(OSAHS) patients diagnosed by polysomnography(PSG) performed one-night pressure monitoring by Apnea-graph, the apnea hypopnea index (AHI),the site of upper airway callapse and the obstructive proportion of different level. The cross-sectional areas of the pharyngeal wall of retropalate, lingua regions planes were scanned by MSCT scan in the waking state were analyzed. The obstruction levels determined by pressure monitored and found in CT screening were compared. Results Apneagraph and CT scan had good performance in the diagnosis of OSAHS. There was no difference between two methods(P>0.05).Conclusion Apneagraph and CT scan can serve as a useful device to diagnose OSAHS.The diagnostic rate of OSAHS (especially severe OSAHS)can be elevated by combining Apneagraph and CT scan.
