Brain-computer interface (BCI) has high application value in the field of healthcare. However, in practical clinical applications, convenience and system performance should be considered in the use of BCI. Wearable BCIs are generally with high convenience, but their performance in real-life scenario needs to be evaluated. This study proposed a wearable steady-state visual evoked potential (SSVEP)-based BCI system equipped with a small-sized electroencephalogram (EEG) collector and a high-performance training-free decoding algorithm. Ten healthy subjects participated in the test of BCI system under simplified experimental preparation. The results showed that the average classification accuracy of this BCI was 94.10% for 40 targets, and there was no significant difference compared to the dataset collected under the laboratory condition. The system achieved a maximum information transfer rate (ITR) of 115.25 bit/min with 8-channel signal and 98.49 bit/min with 4-channel signal, indicating that the 4-channel solution can be used as an option for the few-channel BCI. Overall, this wearable SSVEP-BCI can achieve good performance in real-life scenario, which helps to promote BCI technology in clinical practice.

Cardiovascular diseases(CVDs) is the leading cause of death worldwide, and vascular aging is inextricably linked to the onset and development of CVDs. Vascular morphological and functional alternations such as arterial stiffening, endothelial dysfunction and vascular remodeling that accompany the aging process of the vasculature are important drivers of many CVDs. Numerous mechanisms, such as oxidative stress, mitochondrial dysfunction, chronic low-grade inflammation, genomic instability, and protein imbalance, have been implicated in the development of vascular aging in current studies. However, recent research has brought attention to the distinct impact of perivascular adipose tissue(PVAT) on vascular biology. As an important component of the vascular system, PVAT plays a role in supporting the vasculature, while the adipokines derived from it, including adiponectin, leptin, resistin and pro-/anti-inflammatory cytokines could regulate vascular inflammation and oxidative stress, vascular remodeling and cellular senescence via an endocrine and paracrine manner. Thus, this paper reviewed the changes of PVAT secretome and their impact on vascular senescence under various pathophysiological conditions, and summarized the drugs that target PVAT to mitigate vascular aging by attenuating PVAT inflammation and oxidative stress, inducing PVAT browning, and regulating PVAT secretome, with the aim of offering fresh insight for the prevention of premature vascular senescence and related CVDs.

BackgroundCompared with adult-onset schizophrenia, patients with adolescent-onset schizophrenia experience a high genetic susceptibility, severe negative symptoms, high recurrence rate, poor prognosis and social function recovery. And clarifying the brain functional alterations in adolescent-onset schizophrenia is of great significance for further elucidating the pathogenesis of the disease and exploring personalized and precise treatment. ObjectiveTo investigate the altered functional and effective connectivity of bilateral precuneus in first-episode patients with adolescent-onset schizophrenia based on resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging (rs-fMRI), thus providing reliable imaging evidence in guiding the study on mechanism involved in adolescent-onset schizophrenia. MethodsTwenty-one drugnaïve first-episode patients with adolescent-onset schizophrenia who met the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, fifth edition (DSM-5) criteria for schizophrenia were enrolled, and another 21 psychiatrially healthy controls matched on age, educational background and gender were concurrently selected. The schizophrenic subjects were evaluated using the Psychotic Symptom Rating Scales (PSYRATS) and Positive and Negative Symptom Scale (PANSS). All participants underwent rs-fMRI scans, and the whole-brain seed-based functional and effective connectivity analyses were conducted in bilateral cuneus region. Then the correlation between functional connectivity strength and clinical symptoms of patients was discussed. ResultsIn terms of functional connectivity, the functional connectivity of bilateral precuneus and left middle temporal gyrus was increased in patient group compared with healthy control group [P<0.01, family-wise error (FWE) correction at cluster level, P<0.05]. In terms of effective connectivity, patient group responded to negative feedback with greater activation of seed region and left middle frontal gyrus than healthy control group. Correlation analysis within patient group denoted that the decreased effective connectivity of bilateral precuneus and left middle frontal gyrus was positively correlated with the total PANSS score (r=0.450, P<0.05). ConclusionThe resting-state functional and effective connectivity of bilateral precuneus is abnormally alerted in drugnaïve first-episode patients with adolescent-onset schizophrenia, and the decreased effective connectivity of bilateral precuneus and left middle frontal gyrus may be related to the development of clinical symptoms. Objective:To study the antioxidant protective effects of different low-dose of insulin glargine on organs of burned rats with delayed resuscitation. Methods:Forty male Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats were randomly divided into sham group, delayed resuscitation control group, and insulin glargine 0.5, 1.0, and 2.0 U groups, with 8 rats in each group. The rats were immersed in hot water (95.0±0.5) ℃ for 15 s to establish the third-degree scald model with 30% total body surface area. The rats in the sham group were immersed in a 37 ℃ water bath for 15 s. Insulin glargine (0.5, 1.0, 2.0 U·kg -1·d -1) was injected subcutaneously in corresponding insulin glargine group 2 hours after injury, and the same amount of normal saline was injected intraperitoneally in the delayed resuscitation control group. Intraperitoneal injection of normal saline 40 mL/kg simulated delayed resuscitation 6 hours after injury in all groups. Abdominal aortic blood samples, heart and kidney tissue were collected immediately after simulating burn in the sham group, and 24 hours after burn in other four groups. The blood glucose, myocardial enzymes [lactate dehydrogenase (LDH), creatine kinase (CK), α-hydroxybutyrate dehydrogenase (α-HBDH), and aspartate aminotransferase (AST)] and renal function indexes [blood urea nitrogen (BUN) and serum creatinine (SCr)] were measured by spectrophotometry, and the isoenzyme MB of creatine kinase (CK-MB) level was determined by immunosuppression method to evaluate the effects of different low-dose insulin glargine intervention on blood glucose, cardiac and renal functions in scalded rats with delayed resuscitation. The oxidative and antioxidant indices [xanthine oxidase (XOD), myeloperoxidase (MPO), copper-zinc superoxide dismutase (CuZn-SOD), catalase (CAT), glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px), and total antioxidant capacity (T-AOC)] from the heart and kidney tissues of rats were detected by spectrophotometry to analyze the antioxidant effects of different low-dose insulin glargine interventions. Results:Compared with the sham group, the blood glucose of the rats in the delayed resuscitation control group was significantly increased, the heart and kidney functions were significantly reduced, the oxidation capacity was enhanced, and the antioxidant indicators were significantly reduced. After the intervention of insulin glargine, with the increase of insulin glargine dose, the blood glucose, myocardial enzyme and renal function indicators of rats showed a gradual downward trend, the oxidation indicators continued to decrease, and the antioxidant indicators showed a gradual upward trend. Journal of Clinical Hepatology 2020;36(11):2597-2600
Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) has become the most important chronic liver disease in the world, but there is still no approved drug for clinical practice. Due to the heterogeneity of NAFLD itself, although drug therapy is being developed, the response rate seems to remain low. In order to meet the needs of clinical trial design and provide accurate information for drug developers, relevant scholars have proposed to change the name of NAFLD to metabolic associated fatty liver disease This article summarizes the origin of NAFLD heterogeneity and the background of NAFLD renaming, so as to provide new ideas for accelerating the development of new therapies.

Objective:
To establish a microwave scattering parameter acquisition system to detect cerebral hemorrhage and cerebral ischemia animal models, and to study the non-contact rapid identification methods for the two stroke types.
Methods:
Rabbits were selected for modeling. Eight rabbits in the cerebral hemorrhage group were injected with autologous blood. Six rabbits in the cerebral ischemia group were treated with bilateral common carotid artery clamping and femoral artery bleeding. The measurement excitation source has a scanning frequency range of 300 kHz to 3 GHz and an intermediate frequency bandwidth of 30 kHz. The signal of the S21 phase was acquired. The collected microwave scattering signals were subjected to mean filtering, principal component analysis dimension reduction, and mean clustering and nearest neighbor analysis to realize the identification of stroke types.
Results:
The microwave scattering measurement method can reflect the changes of cerebral hemorrhage and cerebral ischemia. The phase of S21 decreases with the increase of blood loss and increases with the increase of ischemic duration. The results of the differential experiment showed that all 14 models were correctly identified.
Conclusions
The stroke identification system based on microwave scattering measurement can effectively distinguish rabbit cerebral hemorrhage model and ischemic model. This technology is low cost, portable non-invasive, simple operation and fast, which make it be a promising method for identifying pre-hospital stroke types.
