1.Analysis of risk prevention behaviors and influencing factors of HIV infection among young students with MSM
Chinese Journal of School Health 2025;46(9):1323-1327
Objective:
To explore the potential category patterns of risk prevention and control behaviors of HIV infection among young students who have sex with men (MSM) and their impact on HIV infection and late detection, aiming to optimize intervention strategies.
Methods:
From September 2017 to December 2024, a total of 1 637 MSM young students in Tianjin were recruited through both online and offline channels. Latent class analysis was applied to classify 11 HIV risk prevention and control behaviors [condom use during the most recent anal sex in the past 6 months, consistent condom use, use of water based lubricants, abstinence from recreational drugs, regular on site professional testing, fixed sexual partners, partner testing, awareness of partner s HIV testing results, testing before sexual activity, nucleic acid testing, and use of pre exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) or post exposure prophylaxis (PEP)]. Multivariate Logistic regression analyzed associations between demographic characteristics/intervention services factors and latent classes. Differences in HIV infection and late detection across behavior patterns were compared.
Results:
HIV risk prevention and control behaviors among MSM students were classified into three latent classes:condom dependent group (38.42%), low prevention group (27.73%), and comprehensive prevention group (33.85%). Students who received condom promotion/testing services were more likely to belong to the comprehensive prevention group ( OR =5.58), while those who received peer education were less likely to the comprehensive prevention group ( OR =0.43) (both P <0.01). Among the MSM student population, the HIV infection rate was 4.83%, with 2.26% of cases detected late. The HIV infection rate (1.45%) and late detection proportion (0.82%) in the comprehensive prevention group were lower than those in the low prevention group (7.89% and 3.83%, respectively) ( χ 2=16.20, 7.31, both P <0.01).
Conclusions
HIV risk prevention and control behaviors among MSM young students exhibit significant heterogeneity. Comprehensive prevention strategies can effectively reduce HIV infection and late detection risks. It is necessary to optimize peer education content and improve the accessibility of diversified prevention measures such as PrEP/PEP to enhance HIV prevention and control.

Pregabalin, a structural analog of γ-aminobutyric acid (GABA), has been widely prescribed since its approval in 2004 for treating various neuropathic pain conditions. In Western countries, it is also approved for managing anxiety disorders. However, concerns about its potential for abuse and dependence have led to its reclassification as a second-line treatment in recent years. Although pregabalin addiction has been reported in international studies, there have been no such reports within China. This article presents a case of addiction stemming from pregabalin abuse to manage anxiety symptoms. The patient experienced withdrawal symptoms after discontinuing the drug, which were successfully treated. The development of pregabalin addiction, withdrawal symptoms, and the OD(overdose) pattern of drug abuse in this case should draw the attention of clinicians in China.

Objective:To identify the genetic causes of adverse pregnancy outcomes in five families and provide a basis for rational guidance on genetic and reproductive counseling. Methods:A retrospective analysis was conducted on five families with a history of adverse pregnancy outcomes, where one partner was found to have a cryptic balanced translocation. These cases were identified among pregnant women who underwent invasive prenatal diagnosis at the Department of Medical Genetics and Prenatal Diagnosis, Wuxi Maternity and Child Health Care Hospital, from January 2016 to June 2023. Conventional G-banding karyotyping and chromosomal microarray analysis (CMA) were performed on affected children/fetus samples. Chromosome G-banding and fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) were used for parental tracing. Genetic counseling was provided for all cases, and the pregnancy outcomes were followed up. Descriptive analysis was applied in this study. Results:Case 1 involved an eldest son with unexplained intellectual disability, and the CMA results showed an 8.6 Mb deletion in the 4p16.3p16.1 region and a 1.0 Mb duplication in the 7q36.3 region. Unbalanced translocations were detected in the current pregnancies of the other four cases, which were a 6.1 Mb duplication in the 14q32.2q32.33 region with a 1.6 Mb deletion in the 21q22.3 region (Case 2), a 10.8 Mb duplication in the 6q25.3q27 region with a 1.2 Mb deletion in the 15q26.3 region (Case 3), a 1.0 Mb duplication in the 5p15.33 region with a 2.9 Mb deletion in the 6q27 region (Case 4), and a 3.2 Mb deletion in the 1q44 region with a 4.8 Mb duplication in the 19p13.3 region (Case 5). FISH confirmed that either the husband or the wife in each of the five families was a carrier of a cryptic balanced translocation. Further CMA testing on amniotic fluid samples from previous terminated pregnancies of Cases 3 and 4 also indicated unbalanced translocations. Both the current pregnancy of Case 1 and the subsequent pregnancy of Case 2 gave birth to healthy babies after non-abnormal prenatal diagnosis and genetic counseling. Cases 3 to 5 are currently preparing for pregnancy. Conclusion:Advances and combined application of genetic technologies will be conducive to improving the diagnosis of cryptic balanced translocations in some families with adverse pregnancy outcomes, providing a sound basis for genetic counseling in future pregnancy.

Chinese Journal of Perinatal Medicine 2022;25(3):205-210
Objective:To investigate the ultrasonographic and genetic features of Cri-du-chat syndrome (CDCS).Methods:In this retrospective study, cases with CDCS diagnosed in Wuxi Maternal and Child Health Care Hospital from 2004 to 2021 and with complete data were reviewed to describe and analyze the maternal serum prenatal screening, non-invasive prenatal testing (NIPT), ultrasound, genetic examination data, and pregnancy outcomes. Results:All cases were diagnosed by karyotype analysis, seven of them were diagnosed prenatally through amniotic fluid, and four were diagnosed after birth through peripheral blood. Five of the seven cases diagnosed prenatally had an abnormal serological screening, including two cases with 5p- indicated by NIPT. Of the 11 cases, prenatal ultrasonography showed cerebellar transverse diameter less than -2 SD in eight cases, including four with cerebellar hypoplasia (CH), two with fetal growth restriction, and two with cranial diameters less than -2 SD. One case was shown with an increased nuchal translucency, accompanying bilateral choroid plexus cysts of the lateral ventricles, and suspected persistent left superior vena cava. No obvious ultrasound abnormality was observed in the remaining two cases. Among the seven cases diagnosed prenatally, excluding one case that refused parental verification, further single nucleotide polymorphism array (SNP array) showed that all six cases inherited the de novo mutations from the parents. The cytogenetic analysis found the breakpoints at 5p13, 5p14, and 5p15 in five, three, and three cases. All seven pregnancies were terminated in the second trimester. Four children diagnosed postnatally presented with CDCS phenotype during the follow-up at three years old. Conclusions:Fetal CDCS should be considered with CH detected by prenatal ultrasonography, though the correlation between CH and CDCS still needs further investigation. Gene mapping with an SNP array is helpful for phenotypic profiling and genetic counseling.
