BACKGROUND:Conducting mental fatigue research in sports depends on appropriate mental fatigue induction tasks. However, the different types and time settings for the tasks in this field have interfered with the selection and determination of the appropriate task for mental fatigue research. OBJECTIVE:To compare the effects of three mental fatigue tasks and their commonly used time settings for mental fatigue induction. METHODS:In this randomized crossover study,16 male amateur soccer players performed four tasks of 60-minute duration with an interval≥48 hours in a randomized counter-balanced order:STROOP task(psychological cognition group),social media use in smartphone(electron exposure group),whole-body coordination task(exercise group)and emotionally neutral video watching as controls(control group). Before each task, the visual analogue scale(VAS)-motivation,VAS-mental fatigue,VAS-physical fatigue, and average heart rate were measured. Also, the VAS-mental fatigue,VAS-mental exertion,VAS-physical fatigue, and average heart rate were recorded every 15 minutes during the task.Repeated measures analysis of variance was mainly used for statistical analysis. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:The baseline level of VAS-mental fatigue in the four groups were similar(P=0.806).(2)The VAS-mental fatigue of the psychological cognition group at 30,45 and 60 minutes was significantly higher than that of the other three groups(all P<0.05).The VAS-mental fatigue of psychological cognition, electron exposure, and exercise groups at 45 minutes were similar with that at 60 minutes(all P>0.05),but significantly higher than that of pretest,15 minutes and 30 minutes(all P<0.05).To conclude, the psychological cognition task is superior to the electron exposure and exercise tasks for mental fatigue induction and 45 minutes is the appropriate length of time to effectively induce mental fatigue.

ObjectiveTo effectively organize the interdisciplinary knowledge of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) and evidence-based medicine contained in the clinical trial literature of TCM and facilitate the processing and mapping of multi-source data, this paper organized the knowledge of clinical trial literature of TCM by ontology modeling. MethodThe seven-step method and skeleton method were used to develop the ontology. After the structure and language characteristics of TCM clinical trial literature were analyzed, the ontological and non-ontological resources such as top-level framework of Scientific Evidence and Provenance Information Ontology (SEPIO) and TCM language system (TCMLS) were reused to determine the domain concepts and attribute relationship. Finally, the core concepts and attribute relationship such as disease, syndrome, symptom, grouping, intervention measures, outcome indicators and literature quality information were determined. ResultThe information contained in the clinical trial literature of TCM was divided into five categories. According to the Cochrane risk of bias assessment tool and CONSORT 2010 statement, the literature quality evaluation information was mapped to the ontology, and a total of 68 categories, 8 object attributes, and 38 data attributes were established, which basically realized the structured expression of clinical trial literature. ConclusionThe ontology of TCM clinical trial literature constructed in this study can well organize, utilize, and present the construction and association of internal knowledge system in TCM clinical trial literature, underpinning the reasoning of strength of evidence and information of diagnosis and treatment in the future.

Objective:To evaluate the associations between the renalase single-nucleotide polymorphisms rs2576178 and rs10887800 and the risk of hypertension in OSA patients. Methods:A total of 3, 570 male OSA subjects diagnosed via standard polysomnography were included in this retrospective study. We recorded anthropometric, genomic, and polysomnographic parameters and blood pressure levels. All subjects were divided into four groups based on quartiles of the apnea-hypopnea index (AHI). The relationships between rs2576178 and rs10887800 and the risk of hypertension were evaluated using the binary logistic regression, and haplotype analysis. Results:In the bottom AHI quartile, rs10887800 was significantly associated with the risk of hypertension according to the dominant model [odds ratio( OR)=0.691, 95% confidence interval ( CI)=0.483-0.990, P=0.044] even after adjustment for age, sex, and the body mass index. The G-A haplotype was associated with a co-effect of the two SNPs, namely, the risk of hypertension decreased ( OR=0.879, 95% CI=0.784-0.986, P=0.028). Conclusions:We find no association between single rs2576178 or rs10887800 variants with the risk of hypertension in our OSA population. But, the synergistic effect of the two polymorphisms is associated with the risk of hypertension in OSA patients.

OBJECTI VE To establish the high performan ce liquid c hromatography(HPLC)fingerprint of carotenoid in Lycium barbarum, and to investigate the spectrum-effect relationship between its common peak and antioxidant activity. METHODS HPLC method was adopted. The fingerprints of carotenoid in 34 batches of L. barbarum from different producing areas were established by Similarity Evaluation System of TCM Fingerprint (2012 edition),and similarity evaluation and common peak identification were carried out. Taking scavenging rate of DPPH free radical as index ,in vitro antioxidant activity of carotenoid in L. barbarum was investigated. The spectrum-effect relationship between the common peaks of carotenoids in L. barbarum and antioxidant activity was analyzed by grey correlation method. RESULTS There were 4 common peaks in the fingerprints of carotenoids in 34 batches of L. barbarum ,and the similarity was not less than 0.903. Peak 1 was identified as zeaxanthin ,and peak 4 as zeaxanthin dipalmitate. The scavenging rates of them to DPPH free radical were 1.792%-3.160%. The common peaks of carotenoids in L. barbarum were positively correlated with scavenging rate of DPPH free radical ,and the correlation degree was greater than 0.6;the correlation degree of peak 2 and peak 4(zeaxanthin dipalmitate )with scavenging rate of DPPH free radical was greater than 0.8. According to the correlation degree ,the contribution of each common peak to scavenging rate of DPPH free radical was determined as peak 2> peak 4(zeaxanthin dipalmitate )>peak 1(zeaxanthin)>peak 3. CONCLUSIONS In this study ,HPLC fingerprint of carotenoid in L. barbarum is successfully established ,and two common peaks are identified. The chemical components represented by peak 2 and zeaxanthin palmitate may be the material basis of antioxidant activity of carotenoid in L. barbarum .
