The theory of"eyes as the convergence of various meridians"recorded in the Ling Shu Kouwen chapter is the theoretical basis for acupuncture treatment of eye diseases. This article explained the theoretical connotation of"eyes as the convergence of various meridians"from this perspective:eyes rely on the circulation of the twelve meridians and the nourishment of qi and blood to maintain the divine radiance;the penetrating operation of the twelve meridians enhances the close connection between the eyes, the brain, and various related organs.Based on the above theoretical basis, the basic pathogenesis of amblyopia patients with"lack of dependence on qi and unclear visual perception"was summarized. The treatment principle is"regulating qi and meridians, improving vision",and the application of the regulating qi and improving vision acupoint formula has shown good efficacy. The article also expounded the acupoint selection rules and basis from the perspective of meridian syndrome differentiation,in order to provide reference for the selection and compatibility of acupoints for amblyopia.

Temporal interference (TI) is a form of stimulation that epitomizes an innovative and non-invasive approach for profound neuromodulation of the brain, a technique that has been validated in mice. Yet, the thin cranial bone structure of mice has a marginal influence on the effect of the TI technique and may not effectively showcase its effectiveness in larger animals. Based on this, we carried out TI stimulation experiments on rats. Following the TI intervention, analysis of electrophysiological data and immunofluorescence staining indicated the generation of a stimulation focus within the nucleus accumbens (depth, 8.5 mm) in rats. Our findings affirm the viability of the TI methodology in the presence of thick cranial bones, furnishing efficacious parameters for profound stimulation with TI administered under such conditions. This experiment not only sheds light on the intervention effects of TI deep in the brain but also furnishes robust evidence in support of its prospective clinical utility.

Fluorescent probes L1 to L5 containing two recognition sites based on Schiff base were prepared for detection of Al3+.The probes were constituted by introducing two salicylaldehyde derivatives through hydrazide groups on isophthalic hydrazide.Among them,a fast turn-on fluorescence probe L1 for Al3+with high fluorescence quantum yield was found. The recognition performance and mechanism of probe L1 to Al3+were studied by multiple analysis methods. The results showed that probe L1 could rapidly and highly selectively recognize Al3+by fluorescent enhancement at 446 nm and the detection limit was as low as 4.65 nmol/L,and it was found that L1 complexed with Al3+in the molar ratio of 1:1.In addition, the calculation results of density functional theory(DFT)showed that two binding sites in the probe molecule connected two different Al3+,and each Al3+connected two adjacent probe molecules.Using quinine sulfate as a reference, the fluorescence quantum yield of L1-Al3+complex was as high as 30%.Probe L1 could also be applied to the detection of Al3+in real water samples.

Immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) is a hemorrhagic autoimmune disease characterized by antibody-mediated platelet injury. ITP has complicated immunopathological mechanisms that need further elucidation. It is well known that the costimulatory molecules OX40 ligand (OX40L) and OX40 play essential roles in the immunological mechanisms of autoimmune diseases. Previously, we discovered that the expression of OX40L and OX40 is significantly increased in the peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) of ITP patients. In our present study, OX40L-induced follicular helper T (Tfh) cells exhibited an activated phenotype with elevated expression of inducible T-cell costimulator (ICOS), programmed cell death protein-1 (PD-1), and cluster of differentiation 40 ligand (CD40L) in vitro. Moreover, aberrant OX40L‒OX40 expression might promote the Tfh1-to-Tfh2 shift in vivo, inducing the generation of autoantibodies by enhancing the helper function of Tfh cells for B lymphocytes in a mouse model, which might accelerate the progression of ITP. Additionally, signal transduction through the OX40L‒OX40 axis might be related to the activation of tumor necrosis factor receptor-associated factor (TRAF)‒nuclear factor-κB (NF-κB) and Janus kinase (JAK)‒signal transducer and activator of transcription (STAT) signaling pathways. Overall, OX40L‒OX40 signaling is proposed as a potential novel therapeutic target for ITP.

Objective To investigate the karyotypes and the correlation of chromosomal abnormalities in the fetuses with increased nu-chal translucency(NT),so as to provide a basis for prenatal genetic counseling. Methods The clinical data of 386 singleton pregnant women with NT≥2.5mm who underwent invasive prenatal diagnosis at the First Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing Medical University from January 2018 to April 2022 were retrospectively analyzed. The fetuses were grouped according to NT thickness(2.5-3.4,3.5-3.9,4.0-4.9,5.0-5.9,and ≥6.0 mm),fetal ultrasound abnormalities(isolated increased NT,non-isolated increased NT),and maternal age(advanced age ≥35 years,non-advanced age<35 years). The chi-square test was used to compare the differences of the incidence of fetal chromosomal abnormalities among various groups. Results Among the 386 fetuses with increased NT,chromosomal abnormalities were detected in 87 cases with an overall detection rate of 22.5%(87/386),including chromosomal numerical abnormalities accounted for 82.8%(72/87)and copy number variations(CNVs)accounted for 17.2%(15/87).The detection rates of chromosomal abnormal-ities and numerical abnormalities increased with NT thickness(P<0.05),while no statistically significant difference of CNV abnormali-ty rates was found(P=0.41).The detection rates of chromosomal abnormalities(36.5%)and CNV abnormalities(14.1%)in the non-isolated increased NT group were significantly higher than those in the isolated increased NT group(18.6%and 1.0%,respective-ly,both P<0.05).The detection rates of chromosomal abnormalities(34.7%)and numerical abnormalities(31.6%)in the fetuses of advanced maternal age mothers with increased NT were significantly higher than those in the non-advanced age group(18.4%and 14.2%,respectively,both P<0.05).However,the difference of CNV abnormality rates between the two groups was not statistically sig-nificant(P=0.62).Conclusion The detection rate of fetal chromosomal abnormalities elevated with increased NT thickness.Ad-vanced maternal age and the presence of other ultrasound abnormalities were the high-risk factors for fetal chromosomal abnormalities. The risks of CNV abnormalities may not be significantly correlated with NT thickness or maternal age but associated with the presence of other ultrasound abnormalities.
