Hormesis describes the low-dose stimulation and high-dose inhibition phenomena for all kind lives under toxicity environment. This paper generalized hormesis of medicinal plant on grow and metabolite after introducing the concept and study state of hormesis and analyzing hormesis mechanism and its significance. It points out that hormesis can be well used for medicinal plants growth, including increasing the metabolise, giving a dereaction for cultivated field chosen, guiding the agriculture management during the cultivation and improving the anti-stress.

Objective To evaluate the efficacy and safety of risperidone long-acting injectable (LAIR) for the treatment of schizophrenia in a large sample size in Chinese population. Methods This was an open-label, multi-center and prospective study in naturalistic treatment.Patients suffering from schizophrenia and schizoaffective disorder according to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders-IV diagnostic criteria were treated with LAIR for 12 weeks, every two weeks a time. The PANSS total score, positive and negative symptom scores, Clinical Global Impressions-Severity and Clinical Global Impressions-Improvement were evaluated at baseline, and the 4th, 6th, 8th, 12th week treatment respectively. The adverse events were recorded. Results Altogether 251 patients from 17 hospitals across China were enrolled in the study. From the end of 4th week to the end of 12th week, the PANSS total score, positive and negative symptom scores, general psychopathology score significantly decreased compared with the baseline score (P<0.01).The effective rate, improvement rate and the percentage of patients who met the criteria of clinical relief were 57.4%, 79.9% and 76.6%, respectively. At the end of 4th week, the better decline level on PANSS score were in patients with illness duration of 2 years or shorter than that in ones with duration of longer than 2 year, and this trend persisted into the end of treatment. The total adverse events rate was 12.4%, and most were mild and moderate. Conclusions LAIR is effective and safe for treatment of schizophrenia and schizoaffective disorder, with better effect in patients with shorter illness duration.

4.Detection of cardiac troponin and high-sensitivity C reactive protein in children with viral myocarditis.
Journal of Southern Medical University 2008;28(6):1076-1077
OBJECTIVETo investigate the changes of cardiac T troponin (cTnT) and high-sensitivity C reactive protein (hs-CRP) in children with viral myocarditis (VMC).
METHODSForty children with VMC were examined for cTnT, hs-CRP, and creatine kinase MB (CK-MB) levels.
RESULTSChildren with VMC had significantly higher cTnT, hs-CRP and CK-MB levels than the control group on admission (P<0.01), but obviously decreased after two weeks of treatment. The positivity rate of cTnT and hs-CRP were significantly higher in children with VMC than the control group on admission, and decreased significantly after treatment (P<0.01). The positivity rate of cTnT and hs-CRP were significantly higher than that of CK-MB (P<0.05).
CONCLUSIONSerum cTnT and hs-CRP are sensitive indices for diagnosis of VMC, and their detection have important value in estimation of the patients' condition.

Chinese Journal of Cancer 2001;20(1):76-79
Objective: The current study was designed to assess the value of radiography on surgical margins of osteosarcoma. Methods: Tumor extension showed on X-ray plane film, CT and MRI was measured in 29 patients, and these data were analyzed statistically associated with pathological examination. Result: The width of tumor on X-ray plane film, CT and MRI was 42.7± 17.7 mm,70.1± 22.7 mm,73.3± 27.7 mm, respectively, and the length was 71.6± 24.5 mm,84.4± 30.3 mm, 123.6± 36.5 mm, respectively. As the result of histologic examination, the width of the tumor was 72.9± 26.1 mm, and the length was 119.8± 34.8 mm. The aggressive extension on MRI was similar to that on histologic exmination, and were more accurate than that on X-ray film and CT. Conclusion: It was reliable that the surgical margins were estimated on MRI.
