Objective This paper proposes a novel contour detection method inspired by the surround inhibition mechanism of the primary visual cortex.Methods The method involves simulating the response characteristics of the classical receptive field in the primary visual cortex to external stimuli and constructing a multi-directional two-dimensional Gabor filter model for extracting primary contours.A non-classical receptive subfield surround suppression model is proposed based on the structural characteristics of the non-classical receptive subfield for texture suppression.Additionally,a two-dimensional Gaussian function is used to simulate information processing by ganglion cells,and information is transmitted across levels to improve the response rate.Finally,the characteristics of capturing global information by the human eye are simulated to correct the contours and obtain the final contour map.Results Qualitative and quantitative analysis compared with other existing contour detection algorithms;The average accuracy(AP)of any 200 images in the BSDS500 reached 0.703.Conclusion the results show that the proposed algorithm can more effectively highlight the contour of the subject and suppress the texture background.

Objective:To observe any effect of a half palm ankle-foot orthosis and a hollow-heel ankle-foot orthosis on the gait of stroke survivors.Methods:The walking of twenty-five stroke survivors was quantified using a gait analysis system. They walked barefoot, wearing a half palm ankle-foot orthosis and wearing a hollow-heel ankle-foot orthosis. Walking speed, step frequency, duration of the swing phase on the healthy and affected sides, risk of falling and Timed Up and Go (TUG) test times were recorded and analyzed.Results:The average gait frequency when wearing the hollow-heel ankle-foot orthosis was significantly faster than that in the other two conditions. The gait asymmetry coefficient was significantly different when the subjects wore the hollow-heel ankle-foot orthosis compared with walking barefoot. Compared with being barefoot, the average TUG time was significantly shorter when wearing either orthosis and the risk of falling was significantly less. The fall risk was significantly lower when wearing the hollow-heel orthosis compared to the half palm orthosis.Conclusion:Wearing either ankle-foot orthosis can significantly correct the gait of stroke survivors and lower their risk of falling, with better effect when wearing the hollow-heel ankle-foot orthosis.

Objective To discuss the clinical application of reverse dorsal metatarsal artery perforator flap for reconstruction of forefoot soft tissue defects.Methods Since January,2008 to March,2016,43 patients with forefoot soft tissue defect due to various causes were reconstructed with the flap based on dorsal metatarsal artery perforator.Dorsal pedis was used as a donor site with dorsal metatarsal artery perforator as the donor artery.The flap size varied from 2.0 cm × 4.0 cm to 6.0 cm × 8.0 cm.Among them,27,8,4 and 4 cases were reconstructed with flap based on first,second,third and fourth dorsal metatarsal artery perforator flap respectively.Results All the patients were followed-up which ranged from 3 months to 24 months.Six flaps suffered from post operative venous congestion.Out of 6,4 survived with early emergency management while the remaining 2 suffered epidermal necrosis which survived with regular dressing change.Eventually,all the flaps survived.They had good texture and they were elastic,good-looking and very wear-resisting.Walking function was normal.Conclusion Reverse dorsal metatarsal artery perforator flap is an ideal choice in reconstruction of small to medium sized soft tissue defects of forefoot.

Objective To understand patient pathway and clinical characteristics of chronic diseases in urban areas of Shanghai. Methods A total of 10 002 residents were enrolled and assigned to the chronic disease group (including hypertension, diabetes, coronary heart disease, myocardial infarction, and ischemic stroke) and the non-chronic disease group. Body mass index,fasting blood glucose, triglyceride,total cholesterol, high-density lipoprotein cholesterol and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol were tested.Difference of patient pathway and clinical characteristics of those chronic diseases was compared. Results Above chronic diseases were observed in 37.7% participants. About 2/3 diseases were confirmed and 80% patients were followed up in healthcare units not far away from home. Patients with coronary heart disease and myocardial infarction showed more outpatient visit to tertiary hospitals (P＜0. 05 ). However, patients with ischemic stroke had health check, rehabilitation and pharmacy done mainly in local healthcare centers (P＜0. 05 ). Diastolic blood pressure of patients visiting local doctors was significantly decreased (P＜0. 05). Conclusion Some differences in patient pathway were found in this study. Communication and cooperation between medical institutions should be intensified for effective chronic disease control.

E2 is an envelope glycoprotein of Classical swine fever virus (CSFV) and contains sequential neutralizing epitopes to induce virus-neutralizing antibodies and mount protective immunity in the natural host. In this study, four antigen domains (ABCD) of the E2 gene was cloned from CSFV Shimen strain into the retroviral vector pBABE puro and expressed in eukaryotic cell (PK15) by an retroviral gene expression system, and the activity of recombinant E2 protein to induce immune responses was evaluated in rabbits. The results indicated that recombinant E2 protein can be recognized by fluorescence antibodies of CSFV and CSFV positive serum (Lanzhou Veterinary Research Institute, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Lanzhou, China) using Western blot, indirect immunofluorescence antibody test (IFAT) and ELISA, Furthermore, anti-CSFV specific antibodies and lymphocyte proliferation were elicited and increased by recombinant protein after vaccination. In the challenge test, all of rabbits vaccinated with recombinant protein and Chinese vaccine strain (C-strain) were fully protected from a rabbit spleen virus challenge. These results indicated that a retroviral-based epitope-vaccine carrying the major antigen domains of E2 is able to induce high level of epitope-specific antibodies and exhibits similar protective capability with that induced by the C-strain, and encourages further work towards the development of a vaccine against CSFV infection.
