BACKGROUND:Remyelination in the central nervous system is a basic repair process triggered by demyelinating events, mainly through the proliferation, migration, and differentiation of oligodendrocyte precursor cells into oligodendrocytes. The process of remyelination is affected by many factors such as astrocytes, myelin debris, microglia, macrophages, endothelial cells, pericytes,T cells, and age.OBJECTIVE:Astrocytes play an important role in regulating synaptic activity, nutritional support, and tissue repair in the central nervous system. This review aims to provide potential therapeutic targets for demyelinating diseases of central nervous system by reviewing the role of astrocytes in remyelination.METHODS:A search was conducted on relevant literature collected from CNKI,PubMed,and Web of Science from 2014 tO 2024.The search terms were"astrocytes, oligodendrocyte precursor cells, remyelination"in both Chinese and English.Finally,66 articles were included after screening and summarized.RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:(1)The treatment of demyelinating diseases, such as multiple sclerosis,is limited to disease-modifying therapies, and there is no available method to overcome the failure of remyelination. Therefore,it is necessary to explore targets related to remyelination to promote myelin repair.(2)Remyelination is a process in which oligodendrocyte precursor cells proliferate, migrate, differentiate, and mature into oligodendrocytes, and the latter produce myelin to wrap axons to form myelin sheath.(3)Astrocytes regulate remyelination by phagocytosis of myelin debris, participating in inflammatory response, transforming into oligodendrocyte lineage cells, providing energy supply for oligodendrocyte lineage cells, releasing neurotrophic factors, and secreting extracellular matrix components.(4)The drugs screened in this paper use astrocytes and their derived factors as intervention targets to regulate the remyelination. Some drugs have satisfactory effects, but their effectiveness and safety still need more basic research and clinical trials to verify.(5)The mechanism of action of astrocytes in remyelination has not been fully elucidated, and the related molecular targets and signaling pathways can be further studied.

Objective:This study aims to develop a questionnaire for transsexualism screening and validate its reliability and validity, to provide a culturally adapted screening tool for Chinese clinicians. Methods:Referencing internationally validated instruments related to transsexualism, items closely aligned with the diagnostic criteria of the International Classification of Diseases, 10th Revision (ICD-10) for transsexualism were extracted. Items reflecting Chinese family cultural characteristics were integrated. The overall structure of the questionnaire was refined through expert consultations. A total of 111 patients diagnosed with transsexualism according to ICD-10 diagnostic criteria (78 male-to-female (MtF), 33 female-to-male (FtM)) were recruited from the outpatient clinic of Shanghai Mental Health Center between June 2021 and April 2024. Additionally, 232 cisgender participants, whose self-reported gender identity aligned with their birth sex, were recruited via the Wenjuanxing platform from June 14 to 22, 2022, comprising 64 heterosexual males, 16 non-heterosexual males, 120 heterosexual females, and 32 non-heterosexual females. Both the transsexual and cisgender groups completed the screening questionnaire. The internal consistency reliability was assessed using Cronbach′s α coefficient, and the corrected item-total correlation (CITC) was employed to measure the relationship between individual items and the total score. Structural validity was verified through structural equation modeling (SEM) using AMOS software. The receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analysis was conducted to determine the optimal screening cutoff value, with the area under the curve (AUC) used to evaluate diagnostic accuracy. Effect sizes (Cohen's d) were calculated to compare the average scores of the questionnaire across groups. Results:The Transsexualism Screening Questionnaire consists of 15 items including 4 reverse-scored questions, rated on a 5-point Likert scale. The Cronbach′s α coefficient was 0.953 and the CITC for all items exceeded the recommended threshold of 0.3. After rotation based on eigenvalues>1, one principal component explained 61.67% of the total variance. Confirmatory factor analysis indicated acceptable model fit (χ2/ df = 3.887, standardized root mean square residual (SRMR) = 0.064, root mean square error of approximation (RMSEA)=0.092, comparative fit index (CFI)=0.952, normed fit index (NFI)=0.936, Tucker-Lewis index (TLI)=0.943, incremental fit index (IFI)=0.952). Factor loadings for each item ranged from 0.435 to 0.914. ROC curve analysis revealed that the optimal cutoff values were a mean score of 2.83 and a total score of 42.5, achieving 100% sensitivity and 98.7% specificity, with a Youden index of 0.987. Effect size comparisons showed a Cohen′s d of 6.112 between MtF individuals and cisgender heterosexual males, and a Cohen′s d of 9.287 between FtM individuals and cisgender heterosexual females. Conclusion:The Transsexualism Screening Questionnaire exhibits acceptable reliability, validity, sensitivity, and specificity, and is suitable for screening transsexualism in the Chinese population.

Objective:To evaluate the efficacy and safety of intrasaccular flow disruptor in wide-necked intracranial aneurysms. Methods:One hundred and seventeen patients with wide-necked intracranial aneurysms treated with intrasaccular flow disruptor were collected from Department of Neurointervention (First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University), Department of Neurosurgery (Beijing Tiantan Hospital, Capital Medical University), Department of Cerebrovascular Surgery, Neurosurgery Center (Zhujiang Hospital, Southern Medical University), and Department of Neurosurgery (First Affiliated Hospital of Harbin Medical University) from August 2022 to March 2024. Raymond-Roy Occlusion Classification (RROC) was employed to evaluate aneurysm embolization immediately after procedure; cranial CT or MRI within 48 hours of embolization were performed to identify any new intracranial hemorrhage, subarachnoid hemorrhage, or new symptomatic cerebral infarction related to the intracranial aneurysms. Modified Rankin Scale (mRS) was used to assess the neurological function at discharge. Imaging follow-up and outpatient follow-up were performed at 6 months after embolization to evaluate the aneurysm occlusion degree and complications. Results:A total of 117 intrasaccular flow disruptors were implanted in 117 patients, with a technical success rate of 100%; 115 patients (98.3%) enjoyed successful one-time release of their disruptors, and 2 patients (1.7%) required retrieval and redirection of the disruptors before second successful attempt. Flow disruptor plus stent was performed in 13 patients (11.1%). Immediately after procedure, RROC grading I was noted in 3 patients, grading II in 51 patients and grading III in 63 patients. Cranial CT or MRI within 48 hours of embolization indicated no new intracranial hemorrhage, subarachnoid hemorrhage, or symptomatic cerebral infarction related to the intracranial aneurysms. All patients had mRS score of 0 at discharge. Eighty-three patients completed a 6-month follow-up (RROC grading I in 41 patients, grading II in 33 patients and grading III in 9 patients), without ischemic or hemorrhagic adverse events. Conclusion:The results of this study preliminarily suggest that intrasaccular flow disruptor is effective and safe in wide-necked intracranial aneurysms.

OBJECTIVE:
To assess the independent and combined effects of air pollutants, meteorological factors, and greenspace exposure on new tuberculosis (TB) cases.
METHODS:
TB case data from Shanghai (2013-2018) were obtained from the Shanghai Center for Disease Control and Prevention. Environmental data on air pollutants, meteorological variables, and greenspace exposure were obtained from the National Tibetan Plateau Data Center. We employed a distributed-lag nonlinear model to assess the effects of these environmental factors on TB cases.
RESULTS:
Increased TB risk was linked to PM 2.5, PM 10, and rainfall, whereas NO 2, SO 2, and air pressure were associated with a reduced risk. Specifically, the strongest cumulative effects occurred at various lags: PM 2.5 ( RR = 1.166, 95% CI: 1.026-1.325) at 0-19 weeks; PM 10 ( RR = 1.167, 95% CI: 1.028-1.324) at 0-18 weeks; NO 2 ( RR = 0.968, 95% CI: 0.938-0.999) at 0-1 weeks; SO 2 ( RR = 0.945, 95% CI: 0.894-0.999) at 0-2 weeks; air pressure ( RR = 0.604, 95% CI: 0.447-0.816) at 0-8 weeks; and rainfall ( RR = 1.404, 95% CI: 1.076-1.833) at 0-22 weeks. Green space exposure did not significantly impact TB cases. Additionally, low temperatures amplified the effect of PM 2.5 on TB.
CONCLUSION
Exposure to PM 2.5, PM 10, and rainfall increased the risk of TB, highlighting the need to address air pollutants for the prevention of TB in Shanghai.

Journal of Pharmaceutical Analysis 2025;15(3):523-533
Lung cancer exhibits the highest incidence and mortality rates among cancers globally, with a five-year overall survival rate alarmingly below 20%.Targeting autophagy, though a controversial therapeutic strategy,is extensively employed in clinical practice.Current research is actively pursuing various therapeutic strategies using small molecules to exploit the dual function of autophagy.Nevertheless, the pivotal question of enhancing or inhibiting autophagy in cancer therapy merits further attention. This review aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the mechanisms of autophagy in lung cancer. It also explores recent advances in targeting cytotoxic autophagy and inhibiting protective autophagy with small molecules to induce cell death in lung cancer cells.Notably, most autophagy-targeting drugs, primarily natural small molecules, have demonstrated that activating cytotoxic autophagy effectively induces cell death in lung cancer,as opposed to inhibiting protective autophagy. These insights contribute to identifying druggable targets and drug candidates for potential autophagy-related lung cancer therapies, offering promising approaches to combat this disease.
