ObjectiveTo identify potential influencing factors of urate crystal deposition at ankle/foot in patients with hyperuricemia (HUA), and to analyze the predictive value of inflammatory indicators for urate crystal deposition in patients with different traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) syndromes, so as to provide potential reference for clinical risk assessment and individualized TCM intervention. MethodsA retrospective study was carried out with the enrollment of 231 HUA patients from The Third Affiliated People's Hospital of Fujian University of Traditional Chinese Medicine between January 2021 and December 2024. The enrolled patients were further divided into a crystal deposition-positive group (143 cases) and a crystal deposition-negative group (88 cases) according to the results of dual-energy computed tomography (CT). Sociodemographic data, living habits, serum uric acid levels, and inflammatory indicators of the enrolled patients were collcted, and TCM syndrome differentiation was performed. Furthermore, univariate analysis was used to compare inter-group differences in clinical characteristics. MMultivariate Logistic regression was applied to identify the influencing factors of urate crystal deposition. In addition, the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves were plotted to evaluate the predictive efficacy of inflammatory indicators for crystal deposition across different TCM syndromes. ResultsThere were statistically significant inter-group differences in the proportion of males, age, body mass index, proportion of mental labor, rate of low water intake, and rate of high-sugar beverage consumption (P<0.05),whereas no significant difference in low exercise intensity was found between the two groups. Furthermore, compared with the negative group, the positive group had higher serum uric acid level, neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), and platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR), but lower systemic immune-inflammation index (SIRI) (P<0.05). Regarding the distribution of TCM syndromes, the positive group was dominated by the dampness-heat accumulation syndrome (55/143,38.46%), while the negative group was mainly characterized by the phlegm-turbidity obstruction syndrome (44/88,50.00%). Multivariate Logistic regression analysis revealed that high-sugar beverage consumption, elevated NLR, and elevated PLR were risk factors for urate crystal deposition [odd ratio (OR) = 8.002, 5.377, 1.034, respectively; 95% CI 1.572-40.732, 2.179-13.270, 1.013-1.054,all P<0.05], while SIRI was a protective factor (OR = 0.869, 95% CI 0.778-0.971, P<0.05). In the positive group, patients with the dampness-heat accumulation syndrome exhibited the highest NLR, while the lowest PLR and SIRI, showing statistically significant differences with those of other syndromes (all P<0.05). In addition, ROC curve analysis indicated that for the dampness-heat accumulation syndrome, the combined "NLR + PLR" model had an area under the curve (AUC) of 0.901 (95% CI 0.850-0.951, P<0.01), with a sensitivity of 89.1% and a specificity of 79.5%; for the blood stasis-heat obstruction syndrome, the combined "NLR + PLR" model had an AUC of 0.880 (95% CI 0.825-0.934, P<0.01), with a sensitivity of 100.0% and a specificity of 67.3%; for the liver-kidney Yin-deficiency syndrome, the single PLR model had an AUC of 0.842 (95% CI 0.731-0.952, P<0.01), with a sensitivity of 83.3% and a specificity of 84.0%. ConclusionUrate crystal deposition in HUA patients exhibits intimate associations with high-sugar beverage consumption as well as elevated NLR and PLR levels. Meanwhile, TCM syndrome differentiation has potential correlation with inflammatory characteristics. The inflammatory indicator-based prediction model constructed based on TCM syndromes exhibits good predictive value.
2.Cranial magnetic resonance imaging features and risk factors for seizures in patients with hepatolenticular degeneration and epilepsy
Journal of Apoplexy and Nervous Diseases 2026;43(2):110-113
Objective To investigate the cranial magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) features of patients with hepatolenticular degeneration (also known as Wilson disease,WD) and epilepsy, and to identify the neuroimaging risk factors for seizures in WD patients. Methods A total of 69 WD patients with epilepsy who were hospitalized in Affiliated Hospital of Neurology Institute, Anhui University of Chinese Medicine, from January 2018 to November 2025 were enrolled as study group, while 80 WD patients without seizures, matched for sex and age, during the same period of time were randomly selected as control group. Cranial MRI findings were compared between the two groups. Results There were 69 WD patients (43 male patients and 26 female patients) in the study group, with a mean age of (29.46±8.58) years at the time of attending the hospital, and all these patients had abnormal electroencephalogram (EEG) findings. There were no significant differences between the two groups in age of onset, disease duration, WD subtype, and serum copper. Cranial MRI showed that the putamen was the most common site of brain injury (47 patients, 68.1%), followed by the frontal lobe (40 patients,58.0%) and the parietal lobe (31 patients,44.9%), and there was a significantly higher probability of epilepsy in patients with abnormal lesions in the frontal, temporal, or parietal lobes (P<0.05). Conclusion While the putamen is the most common site of brain injury in WD patients with epilepsy, frontal or temporal lobe injuries are neuroimaging risk factors for seizures in such patients.

ObjectiveThis paper aims to observe the syndrome improvement and negative antigen conversion rate of Qingxuan Daozhi formula in the treatment of influenza in children (heat accumulation in the lung and stomach syndrome). MethodsThrough a multi-center randomized controlled methodology design, confirmed influenza cases were collected from October 2022 to April 2023 in the pediatrics department of eight hospitals, such as Dongfang Hospital of Beijing University of Chinese Medicine. A total of 180 children with influenza and heat accumulation in the lung and stomach syndrome conforming to the standard were recruited through the clinic. The sick children meeting the inclusion criteria were randomly divided into groups by a block-randomized method. The children in the experimental group were treated with Qingxuan Daozhi formula for five days, and those in the control group were treated with Oseltamivir Phosphate Granules for five days. The primary efficacy indicator was the negative conversion rate of influenza antigen detection. Secondary efficacy indicators were the Canadian acute respiratory illness and flu scale (CARIFS) and the incidence of complications, severe cases, and critical cases. Follow-up observation was conducted on the day of enrollment,48 hours after medication,72 hours after medication, and (6+1) d after medication. ResultsOne hundred and eighty participants were randomly assigned to the experimental group (90 cases) or the control group (90 cases). All participants were followed up during the study. Comparison of influenza antigen detection results in the primary efficacy indicators showed that the average time of negative influenza antigen conversion in the experimental group was (5.29±1.25) d,and that in the control group was (5.40±1.68) d,without a statistically significant difference. After five days of intervention,52 cases in the experimental group and 51 cases in the control group converted to negative, without a statistically significant difference. CARIFS score results in the secondary efficacy indicators showed that during 72 hours after intervention, there were statistically significant differences between the experimental group and the control group in three dimensions, including headache, muscle soreness, and the need for extra care (P<0.05). On the (6+1) days after the intervention, the differences in both the experimental group and the control group were statistically significant in 10 dimensions, including sore throat, bad sleep, uncomfortable feeling, poor spirit and fatigue, crying more than usual, the need for extra care, symptom, function, influence on parents, and total score (P<0.05). The comparison results within the group in the dimensional scores of symptom, function, and influence on parents,as well as the CARIFS total score showed that with the delay of follow-up time, scores of both groups decreased significantly, with a statistically significant difference (P<0.01). Inter-group comparison results showed that the mean score of the experimental group was higher than that of the control group at the time of enrollment. With the progress of intervention, the score of the experimental group was significantly decreased compared with that of the control group. At the end of follow-up,the mean score of the experimental group was lower than that of the control group, with no statistically significant difference. In terms of the incidence of complications, severe cases, and critical cases, there were no complications, severe cases, and critical cases in the two groups, without a statistically significant difference. ConclusionThe symptom improvement effect and negative antigen conversion rate of Qingxuan Daozhi formula in the treatment of influenza in children (heat accumulation in the lung and stomach syndrome) are not inferior to Oseltamivir Phosphate granules, and children's acceptance is better. It can be more widely used in clinical treatment of influenza in children (heat accumulation in the lung and stomach syndrome).

Objective To investigate the preventive effects of lidocaine administered through different routes on cardiovascular stress responses during anesthesia tracheal intubation. Methods Total 120 patients scheduled for elective surgery under general anesthesia were randomly divided into three groups: intravenous injection group (group IV), throat spray group (group LJ), and control group (group CT), with 40 patients in each. Group IV received 50 mg of lidocaine via intravenous injection 1 minute before tracheal intubation. Group LJ received 50 mg of lidocaine sprayed into the pharyngeal cavity, glottis, and subglottic area. Group CT did not receive any treatment, and the remaining procedures were performed following the routine general anesthesia induction protocol. Heart rate (HR), systolic blood pressure (SBP), diastolic blood pressure (DBP), and mean arterial pressure (MAP) were recorded at four time points: T0 (before tracheal intubation), T1 (immediately after tracheal intubation), T2 (3 minutes after intubation), and T3 (5 minutes after intubation). Statistical analysis of the data was performed using SPSS 22.0. Results There were no significant differences in HR at various time points within the group LJ. The changes in HR in the group IV and group CT were different statistically from those in the throat spray group. The blood pressure of patients in all three groups increased to varying degrees immediately after tracheal intubation, with the group CT showing particularly significant changes that differed significantly from both the group IV and the group LJ. The group LJ rapidly returned to levels close to those before intubation. Conclusion The preventive effects of lidocaine on stress responses during tracheal intubation were different depending on the route of administration. The inhibitory preventive effect of the throat spray method was superior to that of intravenous lidocaine, especially in preventing changes in heart rate.
5.Correlation between beverage dependence and sleep quality among college students
Chinese Journal of School Health 2025;46(8):1125-1129
Objective:
To explore the relationship between beverage dependence and sleep quality among college students, providing empirical evidence for improving their sleep quality.
Methods:
From December 2024 to January 2025, a convenience sampling method was used to conduct a questionnaire survey among 3 974 college students from four universities in Anhui Province. The Beverage Addiction Scale for College Students (BASCS) was used to assess beverage dependence, and the Self rating Scale of Sleep(SRSS) was used to evaluate sleep quality. A multivariate Logistic regression model was employed to analyze the relationship between beverage dependence and sleep quality, and a restricted cubic spline model was used to examine the dose response relationship between the two.
Results:
The positive rate of beverage dependence symptoms among college students was 7.6%, with positive rates of 9.6%, 13.8%, and 7.4% for the withdrawal symptoms, health effects, and dependence symptoms dimensions, respectively. The detection rate of sleep disorders was 23.6%. Multivariate Logistic regression analysis showed that after adjusting for covariates such as grade, gender, and body mass index, compared with the no beverage dependence group, students with positive beverage dependence symptoms had a higher risk of sleep disorders( OR =3.71, 95% CI =2.87-4.80, P <0.01). The OR (95% CI ) for sleep disorders among students with positive symptoms in the withdrawal symptoms, health effects, and dependence symptoms dimensions were 2.80(2.22-3.53), 2.38(1.95-2.91), and 2.45(1.89-3.18)(all P <0.01). Further analysis using a restricted cubic spline model revealed that the overall beverage dependence score and its three dimensional scores were approximately linearly related to the risk of sleep disorders among college students (all nonlinear P >0.05).
Conclusions
Beverage dependence is associated with sleep quality among college students. Schools should take multiple approaches, such as health education on beverage awareness, to improve students sleep quality.

China Tropical Medicine 2025;25(2):222-
Objective To retrospectively analyze the screening and prevalence trend of MTB/HIV(tuberculosis/human immunodeficiency virus) co-infection patients in Shaanxi Province from 2018 to 2022, and to provide scientific basis for further improving the prevention and control strategy of MTB/HIV co-infection in Shaanxi province. Methods Through annual reports and National Tuberculosis Information Management System of MTB/HIV co-infection, the screening, treatment and outcomes of MTB/HIV co-infected patients in Shaanxi Province from 2018 to 2022 were collected and analyzed. Results From 2018 to 2022, HIV antibodies were detected in 49 252 patients, with detection rate of 55.41%, and 57 patients of HIV infection were detected. During the same period, among HIV/AIDS patients, the screening rate of tuberculosis symptoms in newly detected HIV/AIDS patients was 95.91%, the detection rate of tuberculosis was 94.25%, and 174 MTB/HIV patients were found. The screening rate of tuberculosis symptoms in previously-recognized HIV/AIDS patients was 96.94%, the detection rate of tuberculosis was 95.45%, and 135 MTB/HIV patients were found. From 2018 to 2022, the overall trends of HIV detected in tuberculosis patients (χ2trend=4 589.301, P<0.05), screening of tuberculosis in newly detected and previous HIV (χ2trend=47.400, P<0.05; χ2trend=60.196, P<0.05), examination of tuberculosis in newly detected and previous HIV(χ2trend=755.856, P<0.05; χ2trend=526.498, P<0.05), were fluctuating and rising year by year. The screening rate, inspection rate and detection rate of newly detected and previous HIV in each year had statistical differences(P<0.05), except for the inspection rate in 2020 and 2022. Among the MTB/HIV patients, 336 (91.80%) were males, 30 (8.20%) were females. The anti tuberculosis treatment rate for all MTB/HIV patients was 89.62%, and the successful treatment rate for tuberculosis was 87.80%. Conclusion The quality of two-way screening and prevention work in Shaanxi Province is gradually improving. MTB patients have a higher detection rate in newly detected HIV/AIDS. Strengthening the screening of MTB in newly detected HIV/AIDS is beneficial to earlier found and treatment of MTB/HIV, improve the success rate of TB treatment and reduce the death rate of MTB/HIV patients.
