BackgroundWith the rapid development of the networking technologies, internet addiction has increasingly become a serious mental health issue. Previous studies have revealed the link between childhood trauma and internet addiction, while the mediating role of perceived stress in this link is not yet clear. ObjectiveTo investigate the role of medical students' perceived stress in the relationship between childhood trauma and internet addiction, so as to provide references for the intervention of internet addiction. MethodsFrom February to March 2023, a random sampling technique was used to select 1 232 undergraduate students from the School of Clinical Medical Sciences of Southwest Medical University as research subjects. The Childhood Trauma Questionnaire-Short Form (CTQ-SF), Perceived Stress Scale (PSS), Internet Gaming Disorder Scale (IGDS), and Bergen Social Media Addiction Scale (BSMAS) were used for assessment. Pearson's correlation coefficients were calculated. The mediation effect of perceived stress in the relationship between childhood trauma and internet addiction was tested using Model 4 in the SPSS Process 4.1, and Bootstrapping procedure involving 5 000 replicates was employed to confirm the statistical significance. ResultsA total of 1 016 (82.47%) valid completed questionnaires were gathered. The CTQ-SF scores of medical students were positively correlated with PSS scores, IGD scores, and BSMAS scores (r=0.583, 0.474, 0.465, P<0.01). PSS scores were positively correlated with IGD scores and BSMAS scores (r=0.369, 0.479, P<0.01). Childhood trauma in medical students was found to positively predict perceived stress (β=0.191, P<0.01), social media addiction (β=0.160, P<0.01), and internet gaming disorder (β=0.106, P<0.01). Perceived stress played a significant mediating role in the relationship between childhood trauma and internet gaming disorder, indirect effect value was 0.018 (95% CI: 0.009~0.027), accounting for 16.98%. Perceived stress also exhibited a significant mediating role in the relationship between childhood trauma and social media addiction, indirect effect value was 0.063 (95% CI: 0.048~0.079), accounting for 39.38%. ConclusionChildhood trauma in medical students may affect internet gaming disorder and social media addiction through perceived stress. International Eye Science 2025;25(12):1994-1998
The defocus curve, which quantifies visual performance under various defocus states to accurately evaluate the eye's ability to achieve clear vision across a continuous range of distances, is a vital tool for assessing visual quality. With the aging population and improved quality of life driving a significant increase in the demand for presbyopia correction, the application of the defocus curve has continually expanded in ophthalmic clinical practice, particularly in the perioperative period of presbyopia-correcting corneal refractive surgery and refractive cataract surgery, where it aids in personalized surgical planning and proves valuable for patient education and postoperative visual quality assessment. This article systematically reviews the examination methodology, influencing factors, analytical approaches, and recent clinical advancements of defocus curves, focusing on the potential impact of variables such as pupil diameter, contrast sensitivity, and chart selection on results; it further discusses current limitations including lack of standardization and insufficient assessment of dynamic visual performance, and proposes future research directions based on the latest literature. The aim is to provide valuable insights for researchers and clinicians, promote the standardized and normative application of defocus curves, and ultimately enhance the overall efficacy of presbyopia correction and patients' quality of visual life.

Objective:To investigate the implementation status of peripherally inserted central catheter (PICC) tip intracardiac electrocardiogram positioning technology in the hospitals, so as to provide reference for promoting the development of intracardiac electrocardiogram positioning technology. Methods:This study was a cross-sectional survey. Using the convenient sampling method, members of Intravenous Infusion Committee of Chinese Nursing Association selected PICC/ intravenous therapy leaders meeting the inclusion criteria from 5 to 10 hospitals in their work area as the research objects from December 2022 to January 2023. The self-made PICC Tip Intracardiac Electrocardiogram Positioning Technology Implementation Status Questionnaire was used to investigate the PICC/intravenous therapy leaders. A total of 205 questionnaires were distributed in 28 provinces/autonomous regions/municipalities directly under the Central Government, and 199 valid questionnaires were collected, with an effective recovery rate of 97.1%. Results:Among 199 hospitals, 63.3% (126/199) of them successfully implemented PICC tip intracardiac electrocardiogram positioning technology. Among the 126 hospitals that implemented PICC tip intracardiac electrocardiogram positioning technology, only 20 hospitals included it in their charging items. A total of 50.3% (100/199) of hospitals established a unified intracardiac electrocardiogram guided PICC catheterization procedure; 47.7% (95/199) of hospitals organized/participated in training programs on PICC tip intracardiac electrocardiogram positioning technology, and 57.3% (114/199) of hospital PICC/intravenous therapy leaders participated in training programs related to PICC tip intracardiac electrocardiogram positioning technology. In terms of the relevant achievements of 199 research hospitals, 56 papers, seven utility model patents and 28 awards were issued. Conclusions:The application, training and achievement output of PICC tip intracardiac electrocardiogram positioning technology need to be further improved. It is suggested to sink high-quality resources, formulate implementation procedures and evaluation standards, standardize nursing service project management, increase training efforts, and improve scientific research thinking of intravenous therapy nurses, so as to promote the standardization development of new technologies.

Objectives:To present the epidemiological characteristics of stroke incidence and stroke-related mortality among the whole population in national cardiovascular disease surveillance areas from 2015 to 2019. Methods:Data of stroke incidence and stroke-related mortality from 2015 to 2019 were collected from the China Registry of Cardiovascular Events(China RACE),which was established in 2014,covering 100 counties(cities, districts)in 31 provinces in China. The Joinpoint model was used to analyze the annual percentage changes(APC)and trends of stroke incidence rate. The age-standardized incidence rate(ASIR)was calculated using the Seventh National Census data as the standard population. With annual reported stroke events and stroke-related deaths, the mortality to incidence ratio(M/I)were examined. Results:From 2015 to 2019,an increase of 9.41%(APC=2.12%,95%CI:1.43%-2.82%,Ptrend<0.01)resulted in the overall stroke crude incidence rate(CIR)of 468.48/100 000 in 2019 among the whole population, with relatively higher in male and in rural area. The more sharply elevating of CIR appeared in males(11.26%[APC=2.53%,95%CI:1.83%-3.24%,Ptrend<0.01])rather than in females(7.26%[APC=1.63%,95%CI:0.81%-2.46%,Ptrend<0.01]).Meanwhile,the general ASIR decreased 7.47%(APC=-1.72%,95%CI:-3.23%--0.20%,Ptrend<0.05),reaching 523.82/100 000 in 2019.The females generally showed significant descending trend(9.56%[APC=-2.27%,95%CI:-3.99%--0.52%,Ptrend<0.05]),as well as more reduction than that in the males(15.82%vs.11.40%)in urban area. The crude incidence rate of stroke increased with age. From 2015 to 2019,the CIR in 45-49 age group increased 12.48%(APC=3.18%,95%CI:1.67%-4.72%,Ptrend<0.01),compared with an reduction of 15.76%(APC=-4.39%,95%CI:-7.63%--1.04%,Ptrend<0.05)in 80-84 age group.Over the monitoring years, the overall M/I was 0.19,with an age-specific U-shaped distribution. The lowest of M/I(0.10)appeared in those aged 50-54 and 55-59,while the highest(0.45)detected in those aged 85 and over. The M/I of all age in urban areas were consistently lower than that in rural areas. Conclusions:Stroke incidence burden increased from 2015-2019 in the national surveillance areas in China, along with the unfavorable geographic diversity and age-specific divergence.Further efforts are required to improve health care covering all ages and regions in China to reduce the incidence of stroke and stroke-related mortality.

Objective:To investigate whether prophylactic use of metal clips is necessary after cold snare polypectomy (CSP) of colorectal polyps of 6-10 mm.Methods:A total of 200 patients with 6-10 mm polyps that met the criteria of cold snare resection in Chengdu Third People's Hospital from 15 February 2022 to 30 May 2022 were randomly divided into two groups: a group that received preventive metal clip treatment and an observation group. Age, gender, body mass index (BMI), Boston score, endoscopy entry time, wound size, operation time, intraoperative bleeding time, postoperative delayed bleeding rate and cost between the two groups were compared and analyzed.Results:Ninety-eight patients in the metal clip group had 122 polyps removed, and 97 patients in the observation group had 119 polyps removed. There was no significant difference in the age, gender, BMI, Boston score, endoscopy entry time or wound size between the two groups. There were significant differences in the operation time (171.03±90.78 s VS 69.81±43.26 s, t=2.266, P=0.010), intraoperative bleeding time (19.98±17.37 s VS 29.16±17.56 s, t=-2.875, P=0.006) and surgery cost (571.63±110.92 yuan VS 366.32±13.2 yuan, t=18.102, P<0.001) between the metal clip group and the observation group. There was no significant difference in the delayed bleeding incidence[0.0%(0/98)VS 1.0%(1/97), P=0.497]between the two groups. Conclusion:For patients with continuous bleeding time <60 seconds after CSP of 6-10 mm colonic polyps, the prophylactic use of metal clips may reduce the bleeding time, but may increase the operation time and cost. Metal clips have little effect on preventing postoperative complications.

Patients with severe trauma require an extremely timely treatment and transfusion plays an irreplaceable role in the emergency treatment of such patients. An increasing number of evidence-based medicinal evidences and clinical practices suggest that patients with severe traumatic bleeding benefit from early transfusion of low-titer group O whole blood or hemostatic resuscitation with red blood cells, plasma and platelet of a balanced ratio. However, the current domestic mode of blood supply cannot fully meet the requirements of timely and effective blood transfusion for emergency treatment of patients with severe trauma in clinical practice. In order to solve the key problems in blood supply and blood transfusion strategies for emergency treatment of severe trauma, Branch of Clinical Transfusion Medicine of Chinese Medical Association, Group for Trauma Emergency Care and Multiple Injuries of Trauma Branch of Chinese Medical Association, Young Scholar Group of Disaster Medicine Branch of Chinese Medical Association organized domestic experts of blood transfusion medicine and trauma treatment to jointly formulate Chinese expert consensus on blood support mode and blood transfusion strategies for emergency treatment of severe trauma patients ( version 2024). Based on the evidence-based medical evidence and Delphi method of expert consultation and voting, 10 recommendations were put forward from two aspects of blood support mode and transfusion strategies, aiming to provide a reference for transfusion resuscitation in the emergency treatment of severe trauma and further improve the success rate of treatment of patients with severe trauma.
