In this paper， by referring to ancient and modern literature， the textual research of Inulae Flos has been conducted to clarify the name， origin， production area， quality evaluation， harvesting， processing and others， so as to provide reference and basis for the development and utilization of famous classical formulas containing this herb. After textual research， it could be verified that the medicinal use of Inulae Flos was first recorded in Shennong Bencaojing of the Han dynasty. In successive dynasties， Xuanfuhua has been taken as the official name， and it also has other alternative names such as Jinfeicao， Daogeng and Jinqianhua. The period before the Song and Yuan dynasties， the main origin of Inulae Flos was the Asteraceae plant Inula japonica， and from the Ming and Qing dynasties to the present， I. japonica and I. britannica are the primary source. In addition to the dominant basal species， there are also regional species such as I. linariifolia， I. helianthus-aquatili， and I. hupehensis. The earliest recorded production areas in ancient times were Henan， Hubei and other places， and the literature records that it has been distributed throughout the country since modern times. The medicinal part is its flower， the harvesting and processing method recorded in the past dynasties is mainly harvested in the fifth and ninth lunar months， and dried in the sun， and the modern harvesting is mostly harvested in summer and autumn when the flowers bloom， in order to remove impurities， dry in the shade or dry in the sun. OBJECTIVE To study the effects of Sanchong tongluo sanjie formula on the proliferation and apoptosis of Lewis lung cancer cells. METHODS The rats were given Sanchong tongluo sanjie formula powder [0.946 g/（kg·d）]， Sanchong tongluo sanjie formula decoction [2.730 g/（kg·d）]， and normal saline intragastrically， and injected with Cisplatin injection （4.2 mg/kg） intra-peritoneally to prepare powder-containing serum， decoction-containing serum， positive control serum and negative control serum. Lewis lung cancer cells were divided into negative control serum group， positive control serum group， and 5%， 10%， 20% drug-containing serum groups. The cell proliferation inhibition rates at 24， 48， and 72 hours post- intervention were measured to screen the optimal intervention concentrations of powder-containing serum and decoction-containing serum. The cell invasion ability， metastasis ability and apoptotic rate were detected in the negative control serum group， positive control serum group， 20% powder-containing serum group， and 20% decoction-containing serum group. Protein expressions of vascular endothelial growth factor （VEGF）， hypoxia-inducible factor-1α （HIF-1α）， prolyl hydroxylase-2 （PHD2）， matrix metalloproteinase-2 （MMP-2）， extracellular regulated protein kinases （ERK），c-Jun N-terminal kinase （JNK） and p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase （p38 MAPK） were detected. RESULTS The cell proliferation inhibition rates for both the 20% powder-containing serum group and the 20% decoction-containing serum group， when intervened for 48 hours， were not less than 50%. Compared with negative control serum group， the number of invasive Lewis lung cancer cells and migration distance were decreased significantly， while the apoptotic rate was increased significantly （P＜0.05）； the apoptotic rate in the 20% powder- containing serum group was significantly higher than 20% decoction-containing serum group （P＜0.05）. The protein expressions of PHD2 and p38 MAPK were increased significantly in the 20% powder-containing serum group （P＜0.05）， while the protein expression of HIF-1α was decreased significantly in the 20% decoction-containing serum group （P＜0.05）. CONCLUSIONS Sanchong tongluo sanjie formula can inhibit the proliferation， invasion and metastasis of Lewis lung cancer cells while promoting their apoptosis. The mechanism of action may be related to regulating the PHD2/HIF-1α signaling pathway. Furthermore， the powder demonstrates superior efficacy compared to the decoction， suggesting that they may possess different mechanisms of action.

BackgroundPatients with depressive disorder often exhibit impaired decision-making functions. However， the relationship between decision-making abilities and depressive and anxiety symptoms in these patients remains unclear. ObjectiveTo explore the characteristics of decision-making behavior in patients with depressive disorder， and to analyze its relationship with clinical symptoms. MethodsA total of 48 patients diagnosed with depressive disorder according to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders， fourth edition （DSM-IV） were recruited from the Department of Psychosomatic Medicine of the Affiliated Hospital of Southwest Medical University from October 2020 to May 2023. Concurrently， 52 healthy individuals matched for age and gender were recruited from Luzhou as the control group. Beck Depression Inventory （BDI） and Beck Anxiety Inventory （BAI） were used for assessment， and decision-making behavior was evaluated using Probabilistic Reversal Learning （PRL） task. Indicators assessed included the number of trials to criterion， perseverative errors， win-stay rate and lose-shift rate. Spearman correlation analysis was used to assess the correlation between BDI and BAI scores and PRL task indicators. ResultsThe depression group showed a significantly higher lose-shift rate compared with the control group （t=3.684， P<0.01）. There were no statistically significant differences between two groups in trials to criterion， perseverative errors and win-stay rate （t=0.329， 0.132， 0.609， P>0.05）. In depression group， BDI and BAI scores were positively correlated with the win-stay rate（r=0.450， 0.398， P<0.01）. ConclusionPatients with depressive disorder are more likely to change their decision-making strategies following negative outcomes. It has been demonstrated that long-term space flights have a significantly greater impact on the cardiovascular, skeletal, and nervous systems of astronauts. The structural and functional alterations in the skeletal and muscular systems resulting from exposure to weightlessness can lead to the development of low back pain, significantly impairing the ability of astronauts to perform tasks and respond to emergencies. Both space flight and simulated microgravity have been shown to result in low back pain among astronauts, with the following factors identified as primary contributors to this phenomenon. The occurrence of intervertebral disc (IVD) edema results in the stimulation of type IV mechanoreceptors, which subsequently activate nociceptive afferents. The protrusion of an IVD causes compression of the spinal nerve roots. Furthermore, the elongation of the vertebral column and/or the diminished lumbar curvature of the spine exert traction on the dorsal root nerves. Paravertebral muscle degeneration leads to the inhibition of decreased nociceptive activity of the wide-dynamic range neurons of the spinal dorsal horn. Moreover, endogenous pain descending facilitation triggered by conditioning stimulation can be enhanced via the thalamic mediodorsal nuclei, while endogenous pain descending inhibition triggered by conditioning stimulation can be weakened via the thalamic ventromedial nuclei. Psychological factors may contribute to the development of low back pain. The mechanisms governing the generation, maintenance, and alleviation of low back pain in weightlessness differ from those observed in normal gravitational environments. This presents a significant challenge for space medicine research. Therefore, the elucidation of the occurrence and development mechanism of low back pain in weightlessness is important for the prevention and treatment during space flight. To reduce the incidence of low back pain during long-term missions on the space station, astronauts may choose to wear specialized space clothing that can provide axial physiological loads, designed to stimulate both musculature and skeletal structures, mitigating potential increases in vertebral column length, diminished lumbar curvature, and intervertebral disc edema and/or muscular atrophy. Additionally, assuming a “fetal tuck position” described as the knees to chest position may increase lumbar IVD hydrostatic pressure, subsequently reducing disc volume, rectifying diminished lumbar curvature, and alleviating dorsal root nerve tensions. Moreover, this position may reduce type IV mechanoreceptor facilitation and nerve impulse propagation from the sinuvertebral nerves of the annulus fibrosus. Elongated posterior soft tissues (apophyseal joint capsules and ligaments) with spinal flexion may potentially stimulate type I and II mechanoreceptors. It is also recommended to exercise the paraspinal muscles to prevent and alleviate the decrease in their cross-sectional area and maintain their structure and function. Photobiomodulation has been proved to be an effective means of activating the pain descending inhibition pathway of the central nervous system. In addition, astronauts should be encouraged to participate in mission-related activities and strive to avoid psychological problems caused by the long-term confinement in a small space station. The article presents a concise review of potential causes and targeted treatment strategies for low back pain induced by space flight or simulated microgravity in recent years. Its objective is to further elucidate the mechanisms underlying the occurrence and development of low back pain in weightless environments while providing scientific evidence to inform the development of guidelines for preventing, treating, and rehabilitating low back pain during long-term space flights.

Metabolic-associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD) and osteoporosis (OP) are two very common metabolic diseases. A growing body of experimental evidence supports a pathophysiological link between MAFLD and OP. MAFLD is often associated with the development of OP. Rutaecarpine (RUT) is one of the main active components of Chinese medicine Euodiae Fructus. Our previous studies have demonstrated that RUT has lipid-lowering, anti-inflammatory and anti-atherosclerotic effects, and can improve the OP of rats. However, whether RUT can improve both fatty liver and OP symptoms of MAFLD mice at the same time remains to be investigated. In this study, we used C57BL/6 mice fed a high-fat diet (HFD) for 4 months to construct a MAFLD model, and gave the mice a low dose (5 mg·kg^-1) and a high dose (15 mg·kg^-1) of RUT by gavage for 4 weeks. The effects of RUT on liver steatosis and bone metabolism were then evaluated at the end of the experiment [this experiment was approved by the Experimental Animal Ethics Committee of Institute of Medicinal Biotechnology, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences (approval number: IMB-20190124D₃03)]. The results showed that RUT treatment significantly reduced hepatic steatosis and lipid accumulation, and significantly reduced bone loss and promoted bone formation. In summary, this study shows that RUT has an effect of improving fatty liver and OP in MAFLD mice.

Objective To preliminarily analyze influencing factors of stroke-associated pneumonia (SAP) in elderly patients with stroke, and to summarize prevention and intervention strategies of SAP. Methods A total of 284 elderly patients with stroke who visited Nanjing Hospital affiliated to Nanjing Medical University from January 2022 to September 2024 were enrolled for the study. According to presence or absence of SAP, the patients were divided into SAP group (n=87) and non-SAP group (n=197). The case data in the two groups were collected. Statistical analysis of data was conducted using univariate analysis and multivariate analysis. Results A total of 87 patients with SAP were included in this study, with an SAP complication rate of 30.63%. The x2 test showed that there were significant differences between the two groups in gastric tube indwelling, catheter indwelling, diabetes mellitus, severity of stroke, severity of dysphagia, severity of consciousness disorder, long-term bed rest, white blood cell count, neutrophil count, lymphocyte count, and serum homocysteine level (P<0.05). Logistic regression analysis showed that indwelling gastric tube (OR: 2.040; 95%CI: 1.138-3.659), severe stroke (OR: 2.121; 95%CI: 1.287-3.497), moderate dysphagia (OR: 4.797; 95%CI: 1.512-15.217), severe dysphagia (OR: 9.816; 95%CI: 2.708-35.578), severe disturbance of consciousness (OR: 7.637; 95%CI: 1.833-31.813), long-term bed rest (OR: 2.347; 95%CI: 1.179-4.669), and abnormal white blood cell count (OR: 1.988; 95%CI: 1.135-3.482) were influencing factors of SAP in elderly patients with stroke (P<0.05). Conclusion Gastric tube indwelling, severe stroke, severe dysphagia, severe disturbance of consciousness, long-term bed rest and abnormal white blood cell count are influencing factors of SAP in elderly patients with stroke. In clinical diagnosis and treatment, preventive measures should be taken in time for high-risk patients with stroke complicated by SAP.

OBJECTIVE To investigate the effect and mechanism of bumetanide on lung injury in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease （COPD） model rats. METHODS COPD rat model was induced by lipopolysaccharide， and they were randomly divided into model group （COPD group）， bumetanide low-dose and high-dose groups （Bumetanide-L group， Bumetanide-H group）， bumetanide high-dose+Yes-associated protein/transcriptional coactivator containing PDZ-binding motif （YAP/TAZ） signaling pathway activator group （Bumetanide-H+PY-60 group）， with 12 rats in each group. Another 12 normal rats were selected as normal control group （Control group）. Thirty minutes before modeling， bumetanide/normal saline was inhaled or/and PY-60/ normal saline was injected into the tail vein. On the next day after the completion of modeling and drug administration， the pulmonary function index of the rats in each group was measured [forced expiratory volume in 0.3 seconds （FEV0.3）， forced vital capacity （FVC）， peak expiratory flow （PEF）， FEV0.3/FVC]. The levels of tumor necrosis factor-α （TNF-α）， interleukin-6 （IL-6） and IL-1β in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid （BALF） were determined； the pathological morphology of lung tissue and degree of pulmonary fibrosis were observed. The expression levels of transforming growth factor- β （TGF- β）， α -smooth muscle actin （α-SMA） and TAZ protein as well as the phosphorylation of YAP protein in lung tissues were detected. RESULTS Compared with COPD group， the pathological injury of lung tissue in Bumetanide-L and Bumetanide-H groups was alleviated； the exfoliation of lung epithelial cells， tube wall thickening and the degree of pulmonary fibrosis were alleviated； inflammatory cell infiltration was reduced， and blue collagen deposition was reduced； FEV0.3， FVC， FEV0.3/FVC and PEF were significantly increased， while the lung injury score， levels of TNF-α， IL-6， IL-1β， expression levels of TGF-β， α-SMA and TAZ protein and the phosphorylation of YAP protein were significantly decreased （P＜0.05）. PY-60 could significantly reverse the improvement effects of bumetanide on above indexes （P＜0.05）. CONCLUSIONS Bumetanide can alleviate lung injury， inflammatory response and pulmonary fibrosis in COPD rats， and its mechanism is related to inhibiting YAP/TAZ signaling pathway.

BACKGROUND:The traditional surgical treatment for stromal corneal dystrophy is penetrating keratoplasty.In recent years,more and more doctors are considering using deep lamellar keratoplasty to treat stromal corneal dystrophy.Few studies comparing penetrating keratoplasty and deep lamellar keratoplasty for stromal corneal dystrophy have been reported in China. OBJECTIVE:To compare the clinical efficacy of deep lamellar keratoplasty and penetrating keratoplasty in the treatment of stromal corneal dystrophy. METHODS:Fifty-seven patients(57 eyes)diagnosed with stromal corneal dystrophy and admitted at the General Hospital of Northern Theater Command from January 2000 to January 2018 were selected,including 18 males and 39 females,aged(52.9±20.0)years.They were divided into two groups based on the surgical procedure:21 cases(21 eyes)in the deep lamellar keratoplasty group and 36 cases(36 eyes)in the penetrating keratoplasty group.A 12-month follow-up was conducted to observe the best-corrected visual acuity,corneal endothelial cell density,corneal grafttransparency,intraoperative and postoperative complications,and recurrence of the original disease. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:Visual acuity at 1,3,6,and 12 months postoperatively was higher than preoperatively in both groups(P<0.05).The postoperative best-corrected visual acuity between the two groups showed no significant difference(P>0.05).With the prolongation of postoperative time,the corneal endothelial cell density gradually decreased in the two groups,and the annual loss rate of corneal endothelial cell density in the penetrating keratoplasty group was higher than that of the deep lamellar keratoplasty group at 6 and 12 months postoperatively(P<0.05),while there was no significant difference in corneal grafttransparency between the two groups at 12 months postoperatively(P>0.05).There were six cases of complications in the deep lamellar keratoplasty group and 14 cases of complications in the penetrating keratoplasty group.There was no recurrence in 57 cases within 12 months after surgery,and the difference in recurrence rates between the two groups at 5 years after surgery was not significant(P>0.05).The graftsurvival rates at 5 years after surgery in the penetrating keratoplasty group and the deep lamellar keratoplasty group were 83%and 86%,respectively,and there was no significant difference between the two groups(P>0.05).To conclude,deep lamellar keratoplasty could be considered as an alternative to penetrating keratoplasty in the treatment of stromal corneal dystrophy.

Objective: Previous studies have discovered a correlation between cigarette smoking and cortical thickness and surface area, but the causal relationship remains unclear. The objective of this investigation is to scrutinize the causal association between them. Methods: To derive summary statistics from a genome-wide association study (GWAS) on cortical thickness, surface area, and four smoking behaviors: 1) age of initiation of regular smoking (AgeSmk); 2) smoking initiation (SmkInit); 3) smoking cessation (SmkCes); 4) cigarettes per day (CigDay). Linkage disequilibrium score regression (LDSC) was employed to examine genetic association analysis. Furthermore, for traits with significant genetic associations, Mendelian randomization (MR) analyses were conducted. Results: The LDSC analysis revealed nominal genetic correlations between AgeSmk and right precentral surface area, left caudal anterior cingulate surface area, left cuneus surface area, left inferior parietal surface area, and right caudal anterior cingulate thickness, as well as between CigDay and left caudal middle frontal surface area, between SmkCes and left entorhinal thickness, and between SmkInit and left rostral anterior cingulate surface area, right rostral anterior cingulate thickness, and right superior frontal thickness (rg=-0.36–0.29, p<0.05). MR analysis showed a unidirectional causal association between left caudal middle frontal surface area and CigDay (βIVW=0.056, pBonferroni=2×10-4). Conclusion Left caudal middle frontal surface area has the potential to serve as a significant predictor of smoking behavior.
