1.Herbal Textual Research on Inulae Flos in Famous Classical Formulas

In this paper, by referring to ancient and modern literature, the textual research of Inulae Flos has been conducted to clarify the name, origin, production area, quality evaluation, harvesting, processing and others, so as to provide reference and basis for the development and utilization of famous classical formulas containing this herb. After textual research, it could be verified that the medicinal use of Inulae Flos was first recorded in Shennong Bencaojing of the Han dynasty. In successive dynasties, Xuanfuhua has been taken as the official name, and it also has other alternative names such as Jinfeicao, Daogeng and Jinqianhua. The period before the Song and Yuan dynasties, the main origin of Inulae Flos was the Asteraceae plant Inula japonica, and from the Ming and Qing dynasties to the present, I. japonica and I. britannica are the primary source. In addition to the dominant basal species, there are also regional species such as I. linariifolia, I. helianthus-aquatili, and I. hupehensis. The earliest recorded production areas in ancient times were Henan, Hubei and other places, and the literature records that it has been distributed throughout the country since modern times. The medicinal part is its flower, the harvesting and processing method recorded in the past dynasties is mainly harvested in the fifth and ninth lunar months, and dried in the sun, and the modern harvesting is mostly harvested in summer and autumn when the flowers bloom, in order to remove impurities, dry in the shade or dry in the sun. In addition, the roots, whole herbs and aerial parts are used as medicinal materials. In ancient times, there were no records about the quality of Inulae Flos, and in modern times, it is generally believed that the quality of complete flower structure, small receptacles, large blooms, yellow petals, long filaments, many fluffs, no fragments, and no branches is better. Ancient processing methods primarily involved cleaning, steaming, and sun-drying, supplemented by techniques such as boiling, roasting, burning, simmering, stir-frying, and honey-processing. Modern processing focuses mainly on cleaning the stems and leaves before use. Regarding the medicinal properties, ancient texts describe it as salty and sweet in taste, slightly warm in nature, and mildly toxic. Modern studies characterize it as bitter, pungent, and salty in taste, with a slightly warm nature. Its therapeutic effects remain consistent across eras, including descending Qi, resolving phlegm, promoting diuresis, and stopping vomiting. Based on the research results, it is recommended that when developing famous classical formulas containing Inulae Flos, either I. japonica or I. britannica should be used as the medicinal source. Processing methods should follow formula requirements, where no processing instructions are specified, the raw products may be used after cleaning.

3.Annual review of clinical research on lung transplantation worldwide in 2025

Lung transplantation is currently the only effective treatment for end-stage lung disease. However, the field of lung transplantation still faces numerous challenges, including donor shortage, primary graft dysfunction, rejection, infection and others. In 2025, scholars worldwide have made remarkable progress in clinical research on lung transplantation. This article systematically reviews the cutting-edge developments in clinical research on lung transplantation in 2025, focusing on the application of novel evaluation tools in donor lung screening, optimization of lung perfusion techniques, exploration of extracorporeal membrane oxygenation and robot-assisted minimally invasive surgery, as well as mechanistic research and intervention strategies for primary graft dysfunction, acute kidney injury and chronic lung allograft dysfunction. Meanwhile, hot topics such as the management of special populations, prevention and control of postoperative infections, and improvement of quality of life are summarized. This review aims to conclude the important annual research findings and provide references for the clinical practice and research development of lung transplantation in China.
4.The Neural Circuit Characteristics of Repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation Over The Dorsolateral Prefrontal Cortex for The Treatment of Migraine

ObjectiveMigraine is a leading neurological disorder and the fourth most common cause of years lived with disability worldwide, affecting nearly 116 million individuals. Although pharmacological treatments are available, their efficacy is often limited by side effects and variable response rates. Repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) over the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (DLPFC) offers a safe, non-invasive alternative for migraine management. However, the neurophysiological mechanisms, particularly how rTMS modulates local cortical excitability and distributed pain-related circuits, remain poorly understood. Elucidating these mechanisms is essential for optimizing treatment protocols and improving clinical outcomes. MethodsThis study employed concurrent transcranial magnetic stimulation and electroencephalography (TMS-EEG) to investigate neuroplastic and neurocircuitry mechanisms of DLPFC-rTMS in migraine. Study 1 compared 30 migraineurs and 28 healthy controls to identify abnormalities in TMS-evoked potentials (TEPs) and significant current density (SCD) within sensory-discriminative regions including the primary somatosensory cortex (S1) and posterior insula (pINS), cognitive-affective regions including the anterior insula (aINS) and midcingulate cortex (MCC), and a descending modulatory region, the periaqueductal gray (PAG). Study 2 used a single-blind, crossover, sham-controlled design in 34 healthy participants. Each participant received both active (10 Hz, 80% RMT, 1 500 pulses) and sham DLPFC-rTMS in counterbalanced order. TMS-EEG and cold pain tolerance were assessed before and after each session. ResultsIn Study 1, migraineurs showed a significantly less negative N120 amplitude compared to healthy controls (P=0.027, Cohen’s d=0.60), indicating local intracortical disinhibition. No group differences were observed for N40, P60, or P180 components. At the source level, migraineurs exhibited significantly higher SCD in the S1, pINS, aINS, and MCC (allQ<0.05), but not in the ventroposterior thalamus (vpTHAL), mediodorsal thalamus (mdTHAL), or PAG. In Study 2, active rTMS significantly reduced SCD from pre- to post-stimulation in the S1, aINS, and MCC (all Q<0.05). Sham stimulation also reduced SCD in the S1 (Q<0.05) but not in the aINS or MCC. Although no significant group-level analgesic effect was observed between active and sham conditions (P=0.107), correlation analyses revealed that greater SCD reductions in the S1 and MCC were significantly associated with higher post-rTMS pain tolerance (R=-0.487 and -0.495, both Q<0.01) and larger improvements in pain tolerance(R=-0.487 and -0.451, both Q<0.05). No such correlations were found following sham stimulation, suggesting that the behavioural relevance of neural changes is specific to active rTMS. ConclusionThis study provides novel evidence that migraineurs exhibit both local neuroplastic abnormalities (reduced N120 amplitude) and hyperactivity in key pain-processing regions (S1, pINS, aINS, MCC). A single session of DLPFC-rTMS reduced hyperactivity in the aINS, MCC, and S1. Notably, greater reductions in the S1 and MCC were associated with improved pain tolerance. These findings identify distinct cortical circuitries, particularly within the cognitive-affective pain network, that may serve as potential biomarkers for optimizing rTMS treatment in migraine and other chronic pain conditions. Future studies should validate these results in patient populations experiencing spontaneous migraine attacks and explore multi-session or accelerated rTMS protocols.
5.Simulation of Potential Suitable Habitats for the Rare Tibetan Medicinal Plant Sinopodophyllum hexandrum and Analysis in Influencing Factors Based on the Maximum Entropy Model and Geographic Detector

Objective To analyze the spatial distribution pattern of the potential suitable habitats for the Tibetan medicinal plant Sinopodophyllum hexandrum under current climatic conditions and the factors influencing the spatial differentiation of the habitats.Methods Based on the maximum entropy model,a species distribution model was established using selected species distribution data and environmental variable data.The geographic detector and the interaction detector were applied to quantify the factors affecting the spatial differentiation of the suitable area.By overlaying the suitable area with land cover types,the distribution characteristics of potential arable land and forest land within the potential suitable area were quantified.Results Under the current climatic conditions,altitude,precipitation in July,precipitation during the warmest season,water vapor pressure in June,precipitation in December,and the highest temperature in February are the key environmental factors affecting the distribution of Sinopodophyllum hexandrum.Under the current climatic conditions,the potential geographical distribution range of Sinopodophyllum hexandrum covers an area of 1.30×106 km2.Considering land cover types,the actual suitable area for Sinopodophyllum hexandrum is 6.13×105 km2,including 4.25×105 km2 of forest land and 1.88×105 km2 of arable land.The highly suitable forest areas are mainly distributed in the Aba Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture,Ganzi Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture of Sichuan Province,Diqing Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture,Nujiang Lisu Autonomous Prefecture of Yunnan Province and Linzhi City within the Tibet Autonomous Region.The highly suitable arable land areas are mainly distributed in the Linxia Hui Autonomous Prefecture,Dingxi City,Tianshui City,and Longnan City of Gansu Province,with sporadic belt-like distributions in Sichuan Province,Yunnan Province and the Tibet Autonomous Region.Conclusion The study can provide evidence for the protection of wild Sinopodophyllum hexandrum resources and the selection of optimal planting areas.
6.Coronary heart disease combined with diabetes increases the risk of cognitive impairment:a cross-sectional study of the rural population in Xi'an

Objective To investigate the correlation between coronary heart disease(CHD)and cognitive impairment in rural populations aged 40 and above.Methods From October 2014 to March 2015,all residents aged 40 and above from two villages in Huyi District,Xi'an,were selected as study subjects.Information regarding their demographics,lifestyle habits,medical history,family history,physical examinations,and biochemical tests was collected.The participants were categorized into those with and without the history of CHD.Cognitive function was assessed using the Mini-Mental State Examination(MMSE),with scores below the cutoff(illiteracy≤17;primary school≤20;junior high school and above≤24)defined as cognitive impairment.Chi-square test was used to compare the prevalence of cognitive impairment between the CHD and non-CHD groups.Multivariate Logistic regression was employed to adjust for confounding factors in analyzing the relationship between CHD and cognitive impairment.Results A total of 1 833 subjects were included in the analysis,comprising 735 males(40.1%)and 57 individuals with CHD(3.1%).Among them,234 participants(13.3%)met the criteria for cognitive impairment.Univariate analysis showed a higher prevalence of cognitive impairment in the CHD group compared to the non-CHD group(24.6%vs.12.9%,P=0.016).Unadjusted binary Logistic regression analysis indicated a positive correlation between CHD and cognitive impairment(OR=2.199,95%CI:1.185-4.084,P=0.013).However,after adjusting for confounding factors such as gender,age,education level,hypertension,diabetes,dyslipidemia,stroke history and BMI,the association between CHD and cognitive impairment was not statistically significant(OR=1.265,95%CI:0.656-2.441,P=0.483).In the stratified analysis,among diabetic patients,CHD was significantly associated with a high risk of cognitive impairment(OR=4.191,95%CI:1.464-12.000,P=0.008).The prevalence of cognitive impairment significantly increased in patients with CHD combined with diabetes(OR=4.712,95%CI:1.651-13.449,P=0.004).Conclusion This study did not establish a direct association between CHD and cognitive impairment.However,this study suggests that the presence of CHD and diabetes mellitus is significantly associated with an increased risk of cognitive impairment.Future prospective studies with larger sample sizes should be conducted to further confirm the relationship between the two.
7.Effects of APOE genotype and educational attainment on cognitive function:a cross-sectional study based on the rural population aged 40 years old and above in Huyi District,Xi'an,China

Objective To analyze the relationship between apolipoprotein E(APOE)genotype and cognitive impairment among individuals aged 40 and above in rural Xi'an and to explore the potential influence of education on this relationship.Methods All permanent residents aged 40 and above from two villages in Huyi District,Xi'an City,were selected as research subjects,employing a cross-sectional survey approach.The Mini-Mental State Examination(MMSE)was utilized to assess overall cognitive function,with MMSE scores below the threshold values(illiterate ≤17,primary school ≤20,junior high and above ≤24)considered as cognitive impairment.Fasting elbow venous blood was drawn in the morning,and the APOE genotype was determined.The population was divided into low-education(LE,≤9 years)and high-education(HE,>9 years)groups based on educational level.Univariate and multivariate analyses were applied to explore the association between APOE genotype and cognitive impairment,as well as MMSE scores in both the total and stratified populations.Results Out of the 1 692 participants,there were 263 APOE ε4 allele carriers(E2/4,E3/4,E4/4)(15.3%),and 205 individuals met the criteria for cognitive impairment(12.1%).Multivariate Logistic regression and linear regression analyses revealed that in both the total population and the LE population,compared to APOE ε4 allele non-carriers(E2/2,E2/3,E3/3),APOE ε4 allele carriers exhibited a higher risk of cognitive impairments(total population:OR=1.509,95%CI:1.030-2.211,P=0.035;LE:OR=1.604,95%CI:1.080-2.381,P=0.019),and their MMSE scores were lower(total population:β=-0.053,95%CI:-0.983--0.162,P=0.006;LE:β=-0.052,95%CI:-1.052--0.124,P=0.013).However,in the HE population,there was no statistically significant difference in the prevalence of cognitive impairment(OR=1.883,95%CI:0.254-13.980,P=0.536)and MMSE scores(β=0.001,95%CI:-0.635-0.642,P=0.992)between APOE ε4 allele carriers and non-carriers.Conclusion The APOE ε4 allele was associated with an increased risk of cognitive impairment in individuals aged 40 and above in rural areas of Xi'an,while HE attainment may offer protective effects against cognitive impairment in APOE ε4 allele carriers.
8.Study on the Quality of Gansu Chuanxiong Rhizoma Based on Intelligent Sensory Technology,HPLC and HS-SPME-GC-MS

Objective To evaluate the quality of Xi xiong(Gansu Chuanxiong)based on the combination of intelligent sensory technology,HPLC and HS-SPME-GC-MS.Methods The chromaticity values of 10 batches of Gansu Chuanxiong Rhizoma samples were measured using a colorimeter and clustering analysis was performed;an electronic nose was used to measure the odor of Gansu Chuanxiong Rhizoma,and Loadings and PCA were conducted;According to the method under the Chuanxiaong Rhizoma section of the Chinese Pharmacopoeia,the moisture,ash content and extract were determined;HPLC was used to determine the contents of ferulic acid,chlorogenic acid and ligustrazine;the volatile components were analyzed by HS-SPME-GC-MS;the quality of Gansu Chuanxiong Rhizoma was evaluated by analyzing the correlation between chromaticity value,odor and active components.Results The total color value of Gansu Chuanxiong Rhizoma ranged from 31.210 1±1.193 7 to 43.976 3±0.721 4,at the Euclidean distance of 10,and the 10 batches of Gansu Chuanxiong Rhizoma could be clustered into four categories;Loadings and PCA showed that the higher contribution of sensors W2S,W5S,W2W,W1W and W1S to Gansu Chuanxiong Rhizoma samples,the variance contribution of the first and second principal components was 62.6%and 22.4%,respectively;water,ash and extract in 10 batches of Gansu Chuanxiong Rhizoma all met the standards of Chinese Pharmacopoeia;the HPLC determination results indicated that the content of ferulic acid in Gansu Chuanxiong Rhizoma was greater than 0.192 6%,ligustrazine content was between 0.001 2%and 0.006 1%,chlorogenic acid content was greater than 0.016 4%;HS-SPME-GC-MS results indicated 52 volatile components were identified in Gansu Chuanxiong Rhizoma samples,the olefin compounds were rich in species,phenyphthalide compounds had the highest relative content;the correlation analysis showed that the color values ΔL*,Δb* and ΔE showed a high degree of correlation with ferulic acid and ligusticum tecidate A.Conclusion This study clarifies the intrinsic quality of Gansu Chuanxiong Rhizoma and provides a theoretical basis for research on Gansu Chuanxiong Rhizoma.

10.Selection of exosomal microRNA biomarkers for brucellosis diagnosis and construction of a potential miRNA-mRNA regulation network

This study was aimed at exploring novel auxiliary diagnostic biomarkers for brucellosis and their potential miR-NA-mRNA regulatory networks.High-throughput sequencing was used to compare miRNA expression differences in serum ex-osomes between patients with brucellosis and healthy controls.Subsequently,RT-qPCR was used to validate the expression of significantly upregulated exosomal miRNAs.The diagnostic value of these miRNAs was assessed with ROC curves,and bioin-formatics analyses were performed to investigate the potential roles of the miRNAs in brucellosis infection.The ROC curve a-nalysis indicated that the area under the curve for exosomal hsa-miR-11400(P<0.05),hsa-miR-199a-5p(P<0.05),and hsa-miR-148a-5p(P<0.05)was 0.79,0.81,and 0.74,respectively.A total of 465 differentially expressed miRNAs and their tar-get genes were predicted,including 25 immune-related target genes,most of which were closely associated with cancer-related proteoglycans,NF-kappa B signaling pathways,and IL-17 signaling pathways.The constructed differentially expressed gene network indicated that the immune genes PLXNA2,IL17RA,PRKCA,CD22,ACVR1B,and CBL might be regulated by hsa-miR-199a-5p and hsa-miR-148a-5p.These findings suggest that exosomal miRNAs might serve as auxiliary diagnostic indicators for brucellosis.Our exosomal miRNA-mRNA regulatory network provides new insights into the pathogenesis and treatment of brucellosis.
