Digital technologies have become an integral part of complete denture restoration. With advancement in computer-aided design and computer-aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM), tools such as intraoral scanning, facial scanning, 3D printing, and numerical control machining are reshaping the workflow of complete denture restoration. Unlike conventional methods that rely heavily on clinical experience and manual techniques, digital technologies offer greater precision, predictability, and efficacy. They also streamline the process by reducing the number of patient visits and improving overall comfort. Despite these improvements, the clinical application of digital complete denture restoration still faces challenges that require further standardization. The major issues include appropriate case selection, establishing consistent digital workflows, and evaluating long-term outcomes. To address these challenges and provide clinical guidance for practitioners, this expert consensus outlines the principles, advantages, and limitations of digital complete denture technology. The aim of this review was to offer practical recommendations on indications, clinical procedures and precautions, evaluation metrics, and outcome assessment to support digital restoration of complete denture in clinical practice.

Aural vertigo frequently encountered in the otolaryngology department of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) mainly involves peripheral vestibular diseases of Western medicine, such as Meniere's disease, benign paroxysmal positional vertigo, vestibular neuritis, and vestibular migraine, being a hot research topic in both TCM and Western medicine. Western medical therapies alone have unsatisfactory effects on recurrent aural vertigo, aural vertigo affecting the quality of life, aural vertigo not relieved after surgery, aural vertigo with complex causes, and children's aural vertigo. The literature records and clinical practice have proven that TCM demonstrates unique advantages in the treatment of aural vertigo. The China Association of Chinese medicine sponsored the "17th youth salon on the diseases responding specifically to TCM: Aural vertigo" and invited vertigo experts of TCM and Western medicine to discuss the difficulties and advantages of TCM diagnosis and treatment of aural vertigo. The experts deeply discussed the achievements and contributions of TCM and Western medicine in the diagnosis and treatment of aural vertigo, the control and mitigation of the symptoms, and the solutions to disease recurrence. The discussion clarified the positioning and advantages of TCM treatment and provided guidance for clinical and basic research on aural vertigo.

OBJECTIVE
To investigate the transfer and diffusion of berberine hydrochloride(BBH), the main active component of Coptis and Phellodenticum in the system of carboxymethyl chitosan(CMCS)-sodium alginate(SA).
METHODS
CMCS and SA were stirred in a certain proportion, and D-gluconolactone(GDL) was added to form polyelectrolyte hydrogel. Rheometer was used to study the rheological properties of CMCS-SA hydrogel, including the elastic modulus G′ and the viscous modulus G′′. A BBH diffusion model for CMCS-SA hydrogel was designed, and the relevant rules of BBH permeation through CMCS-SA polyelectrolyte hydrogel were observed by UV-VIS.
RESULTS
The elastic modulus G′ of the hydrogel was measured when the ratio of CMCS to SA was 3∶1, 2∶1, 1∶1, 1∶2, and 1∶3. When the ratio of CMCS to SA was 1∶1, G′ was the highest, and the crosslinking strength of the hydrogel was the highest. The cumulative amount of BBH transfer was measured by the BBH transfer model, and the diffusion of BBH in CMCS-SA hydrogel was fitted as the skeleton dissolution by Peppas equation, indicating that BBH dissociation and the transfer efficiency increased as the amino group of CMCS decreased or the carboxyl group of SA increased. The elastic modulus G′ of CMCS-SA hydrogel increased with the increase of GDL content. The reason was that the binding force between CMCS and SA molecules gradually increased with the decrease of pH, and the crosslinking degree of the hydrogel was enhanced. When ratio of fixed CMCS to SA was 1∶1 and the GDL content was 0.15 g·mL−1, the formability of CMCS-SA hydrogel was good. In addition, when BBH was transferred in hydrogel with different concentrations of GDL, the transfer efficiency increased with the increase of GDL content. When BBH was delivered in different thickness hydrogel, the delivery efficiency of CMCS-SA hydrogel increased with the decrease of thickness.
CONCLUSION
The CMCS-SA hydrogel system, as a potential drug carrier for traditional Chinese medicine extracts such as BBH, is expected to serve as a gel carrier for transdermal drug delivery.

Abstract: Objective To investigate the effects of Haihuang Bufei Formula on inflammatory factors and T lymphocyte subsets in silicotic rats, and to further explore the therapeutic effects of Haihuang Bufei Formula. Methods The silicotic rat models were constructed by intratracheal instillation of silicon dioxide (SiO2) suspension. After 24 hours of modeling, the rats were randomly divided into normal control group, model group, positive drug control group, and low, medium, high dose group of Haihuang Bufei Formula. Each group contained 10 rats, which were administered once daily for one month. One hour after the last administration, the rats were sacrificed. Lung index, serum tumor necrosis factor α (TNF-α), interleukin 1β (IL-1β), hydroxyproline (HYP), superoxide dismutase (SOD), and malondialdehyde (MDA) contents in lung tissue were measured. Hematoxylin-eosin (HE) and Masson staining methods were used to observe the pathological changes in lung tissues. Flow cytometry was used to detect the T lymphocyte subsets in the peripheral blood of rats. Results Compared with the model group, the lung index, serum IL-1β, lung tissue HYP, and MDA contents in the middle and high dose groups of Haihuang Bufei Formula treatment were significantly reduced (P<0.05). In the high-dose group, the serum TNF-α content decreased to (238.64±51.80) ng/L, and the lung tissue SOD content increased to (55.30±13.77) pg/mL (P<0.05). HE and Masson's staining results indicated that the medium and high doses of Haihuang Bufei Formula could alleviate pathological damage of silicosis and fibrosis in lung tissue. Flow cytometer analysis showed that the percentage of CD8+T cells in the high-dose group of Haihuang Bufei Formula was significantly decreased (P<0.05). The ratio of CD4+/CD8+ increased to (1.44±0.19) (P<0.01), and the percentage of CD4+T cells showed no statistically significant change among groups (P>0.05). Conclusions Haihuang Bufei Formula has a protective effect on silicotic rats by reducing collagen content, alleviating pathological damage and fibrosis of lung tissue, which may be related to inhibiting the expression of inflammatory factors, reducing oxidative stress, and regulating the immune system.

Objective:To compare the clinical effects of mortice and tenon joint and end-to-end bone contact of zygomatic arch in reduction malarplasty, and to explore the clinical application value of mortice and tenon joint. Methods:The clinical data of patients who underwent reduction malarplasty in Sichuan Friendship Hospital and West China Hospital of Stomatology, Sichuan University from January 2013 to June 2020 were analyzed retrospectively. All patients were treated with classical or modified L-shaped zygomatic arch osteotomy. According to the bone connection mode of the zygomatic arch, the patients were divided into Group Ⅰ and Group Ⅱ. The patients in Group Ⅰ were treated with mortice and tenon joint (from June 2017 to June 2020), and the ones in Group Ⅱ were treated with end-to-end contact (from January 2013 to May 2017). The movement between zygomatic body and zygomatic arch were measured 6-24 months after surgeries. The postoperative satisfaction rate was investigated, and the incidence of complications within 2 years after operation was recorded. The data were statistically analyzed by SPSS 20.0 software. The measurement data were expressed by Mean±SD, and the counting data were expressed by cases (%). T-test was used to compare the age difference, zygomatic body and zygomatic arch movement distance between the two groups. Chi-square test was used to compare the sex composition ratio, postoperative satisfaction rate (sum of very satisfied and satisfied cases/sum of cases in respective group) and incidence of complications between the two groups. P<0.05 was considered statistically significant. Results:A total of 380 patients presenting with zygomatic protrusion were included in this retrospective study. One hundred and ninety patients were included in Group Ⅰ[22 men and 168 women; aged(26.8 ±8.6) years)] and 190 patients in Group Ⅱ [16 men and 174 women; aged (25.2 ±8.8) years)]. There was no significant difference in sex constituent ratio and age between the two groups ( P>0.05). After the operation, the width of the face was narrowed, and the contour of the face was significantly improved. The medial movement distance of zygomatic body in Group Ⅰ and Group Ⅱ was (2.65±0.76) mm versus (2.51±0.78) mm, and the movement distance of zygomatic arch in Group Ⅰ and Group Ⅱ was (4.58 ±0.44) mm versus (2.60±0.28) mm. There was no significant difference in movement distance of zygomatic body between Group Ⅰ and Group Ⅱ ( t=1.77, P=0.077), but there was significant difference in the zygomatic arch ( t=52.33, P<0.001). The satisfaction rate of patients in Group Ⅰ was 75.8% (144/190), which was higher than that in Group Ⅱ (55.3%, 105/190) ( χ2=17.72, P<0.001). There was no significant difference in the incidence of postoperative infection, temporary paresthesia, and hematoma between the two groups ( P>0.05). The incidence of facial asymmetry, sagging cheek, bone suture and nonunion in Group Ⅱ was significantly higher than that in Group Ⅰ ( P<0.05). Conclusion:Compared with end-to-end bone contact in reduction malarplasty, the mortice and tenon joint of the zygomatic arch achieved better facial narrowing effect and long-term stability, higher patient satisfaction rate and less postoperative complications.
