Objective To evaluate the role of distortion product otoacoustic emissions (DPOAE) testing in evaluating early hearing loss among noise-exposed workers. Methods A total of 174 noise-exposed workers in a metal shipbuilding enterprise were selected as the research subjects by the convenience sampling method. Pure tone audiometry (PTA), DPOAE and the level of noise exposure were conducted on the workers. The rank correlation analysis was used to analyze the correlation between DPOAE amplitude and PTA threshold. The multilevel model was used to analyze the effects of gender, age, noise exposure intensity, cumulative noise exposure (CNE), hearing loss classification and PTA threshold on DPOAE results. Results At the frequencies of 0.50, 1.00, 2.00, 3.00, 4.00, 6.00 and 8.00 kHz, the DPOAE amplitude was negatively correlated with the PTA threshold (rank correlation coefficients were -0.12, -0.48, -0.47, -0.18, -0.23, -0.44, -0.19, respectively, all P<0.01). At the most frequencies, DPOAE amplitude was negatively correlated with age and CNE (all P<0.05). The results of multilevel model analysis showed that there were significant differences in DPOAE amplitudes at certain frequencies across gender, age, noise intensity, CNE, and hearing loss classification (all P<0.05). Significant differences in DPOAE responses were found among different CNE and hearing loss groups (all P<0.01). Conclusion DPOAE testing can objectively reflect the hearing status of noise-exposed workers and could be considered for inclusion in routine hearing monitoring to facilitate early detection of noise-induced hearing loss.

Objective:To summarize and analyze the literature on the application of the Sherlock 3CG Tip Confirmation System (TCS) in peripherally inserted central catheter (PICC) placement, providing evidence for clinical practice and related research using Sherlock 3CG TCS.Methods:A systematic search was conducted in PubMed, Web of Science, CINAHL, Scopus, Embase, Cochrane Library, China National Knowledge Infrastructure, Wanfang Data, and VIP databases, with the retrieval period covering database inception to November 20, 2023. Two researchers independently extracted data from the included studies, including author, publication year, country, study type, study population, sample size, outcome indicators, and the definition of optimal tip position. Results:A total of 18 studies were included. The primary study population consisted of adults requiring PICC placement, with only one study focusing on children. Outcome indicators evaluated the system 's effectiveness, safety, accuracy, cost-effectiveness, and ease of use. Conclusions:Sherlock 3CG TCS demonstrates good effectiveness and safety, improves the accuracy of PICC tip positioning, is convenient and easy to use, reduces patient burden and healthcare costs, and enhances the confidence and satisfaction of catheter placement personnel. Further large-sample, multicenter randomized controlled trials are needed to validate these findings.

Cancer has become a major life-threatening disease globally. In recent years, precision therapy for cancer has gradually emerged, and significant success has been achieved with targeted therapies, immune checkpoint inhibitors, and the newly emerging antibody-drug conjugates(ADC).The development of ADC has been rapid, with up to 15 ADC drugs currently approved worldwide. However, the hepatotoxicity of ADC has gained increasing attention, with reports of fatal hepatotoxic events. In this article,we briefly reviewed the ADC approved globally, summarized the liver-related adverse events and hepatotoxic manifestations reported in current clinical trials of ADC,and compiled research on possible hepatotoxicity mechanisms. Our aim is to assist clinicians in understanding and managing the hepatotoxicity characteristics of ADC,enabling timely identification of patients at risk of hepatotoxicity and implementing effective measures to manage these risks, thus reducing and preventing serious adverse events.

Journal of Clinical Hepatology 2024;40(8):1533-1537
With the increasingly wide application of herbal medicines and dietary supplements worldwide,herb-induced liver injury(HILI)has become an important etiology of drug-induced liver injury.Due to the diverse manifestations of HILI,the difficulty in medical history collection, and the lack of specific biomarkers, how to identify suspected patients and make a correct diagnosis has become a major challenge in practice.Causality assessment is commonly used in the diagnosis of HILI,but there is still a lack of prospective cohort studies with a large sample size.In addition, further studies are needed to search for the specific biomarkers for the diagnosis of HILI.The diagnosis and differential diagnosis of HILI are challenging, and currently there is still no universally accepted uniform and standard method for the diagnosis of all-cause HILI.

With the development of medical technology, more and more extremely preterm infants(EPIs)with gestational age less than 28 weeks can be treated. However, due to the immature development of tissues and organs, the prognosis of EPIs survivors after active treatment is still not optimistic. In order to fundamentally reduce the morbidity and mortality of EPIs,the traditional treatment mode should be converted.Artificial womb(AW)simulates the maternal environment in utero through the extra-corporeal life support to maintain the protective development of fetal vital organs, which provides a new hope for improving the prognosis of EPIs.This article reviews the advantages and key technologies of AW in the protective development of fetal lung.

Journal of Clinical Hepatology 2021;37(11):2510-2514
The incidence rate of drug-induced liver injury (DILI) is increasing year by year, and DILI has become one of the common liver diseases in clinical practice and has attracted the attention of the whole world. It is known that a variety of drugs, including Chinese herbal medicine and dietary supplements, can cause various types of acute or chronic liver injury, and acute liver failure may occur in severe cases, leading to death or liver transplantation. This article elaborates on the global prevalence of DILI and the distribution of common suspected drugs.

Objective To study the inhibitory effect of curcumin on the proliferation, migration and invasion of non-small cell lung cancer cell A549,and to discuss further if it is closely related to the expression of c-Jun N-terminal kinase (JNK) and relative protein p38.Methods A549 cells were cultured by conventional method, and then treated with different concentration of curcumin (10,20,40,80 μmol · L-1).The proliferation, migration and invasion of A549 cells were measured by real-time cellular analysis (RTCA).The expression levels of JNK,p-JNK,p38 and P-p38 were detected by real-time PCR and Western blotting. Results Curcumin showed an antiproliferation effect against A549 cells with IC50 =40 μmol · L-1,and curcumin exhibited obviously inhibitory effect on the migration and invasion of A549 cells.Additionally, compared with control group, curcumin suppressed the expression of JNK and p38 at the gene level, and significantly inhibited the expression of JNK,P-JNK,p38 and p38 (P<0.05) at the protein level. Conclusion These results demonstrated that curcumin can inhibit the proliferation, migration and invasion of A549 cells via reducing the level of JNK,p38 phosphorylation, and blocking JNK signal transduction pathway.

Methods The type 2 diabetes mouse model (db/db mice) was intragastrically administrated with curcumin and analogue H8 for 8 weeks. The blood biochemical indexes were measured. The expression of PEPCK and G6Pase mRNA was detected by real-time PCR in liver tissues. The expression of PEPCK and G6Pase protein was detected by Western blotting. Results Curcumin analogue H8 reduced blood glucose and lipids in db/db mice (P<0.01) and improved liver function related enzymes significantly. The levels of PEPCK and G6Pase mRNA in db/db mice were significantly decreased (P<0.01) and the expression levels of PEPCK and G6Pase protein were significantly decreased(P<0.01). Conclusion Curcumin analogue H8 improves the glucose and lipid metabolism disorder in db/db mice, and it is related to inhibiting the expression of PEPCK and G6Pase gene and protein.
