Objective To explore the mechanism by which the sanguis draconis flavones(SDF)regulates the reactive oxygen species(ROS)/thioredoxin-interacting protein(TXNIP)pathway to mediate cell pyroptosis and improve cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury(CIRI)in rats. Methods The experimental rats were randomly divided into the control group(Ctrl),the CIRI group, the low-dose SDF group(SDF-L),the high-dose SDF group(SDF-H),and the SDF-H+ROS/TXNIP pathway activator, trimethylamine oxide(TMAO)group(SDF-H+TMAO).Among them, except for the control group, the remaining rats all needed to establish the CIRI rat model by the modified suture method.Zea Longa scoring was performed on rats from each group.ELISA was used to detect the levels of serum inflammatory factors interleukin(IL)-1β,IL-18 and oxidative stress-related factors superoxide dismutase(SOD),malondialdehyde(MDA),glutathione peroxidase(GSH-Px).Flow cytometry was used to measure the ROS levels.Cerebral edema was detected.Cerebral infarction was detected by 2,3,5-triphenyl tetrazolium chloride(TTC)staining.HE staining was used to detect the pathological changes of brain tissue.Immunohistochemistry was used to detect the expression of pyrolytic effector protein dermolin D(GSDMD).Western blotting was used to detect the expression of proteins related to the ROS/TXNIP pathway. Results Compared with the control group,a large area of cerebral infarctions were observed in the brain tissue of the CIRI group, accompanied by mild hemorrhage and obvious infiltration of inflammatory cells.Neuronal cells underwent degeneration and necrosis, with sparse and disordered arrangement. The phenomena of nuclear condensation and nucleolus lysis were obvious. The Zea Longa score, cerebral infarction volume, brain tissue water content, levels of IL-1β,IL-18,ROS,MDA,and the expressions of GSDMD,TXNIP,nucleotide-binding oligomerization domain-like receptor protein 3(NLRP3),apoptosis-related punctate protein(ASC),and Caspase-1 increased, while the activities of SOD and GSH-Px decreased(P<0.05).Compared with the CIRI group, the pathological damage of brain tissues in the SDF-L group and the SDF-H group was significantly improved. The Zea Longa score, cerebral infarction volume, brain tissue water content, levels of IL-1β,IL-18,ROS,MDA,and the expressions of GSDMD,TXNIP,NLRP3,ASC,and Caspase-1 decreased. The activities of SOD and GSH-Px increased(P<0.05);TMAO treatment partially reversed the improvement effect of SDF on CIRI in rats. Conclusion SDF ameliorates cerebral CIRI in rats by inhibiting ROS/TXNIP pathway-mediated pyroptosis.

Objective To investigate the dynamic balance ability of healthy young adults under different obstacle-crossing strategies, thereby providing a theoretical basis for fall prevention training and public facility design. Methods Twenty healthy young adults participated in the experiment using F-scan plantar pressure analysis insoles. The subjects were required to cross three obstacles with different combinations of height and width. With their dominant foot serving as the leading foot and the non-dominant foot as the trailing foot, the subjects performed both lateral and forward crossing maneuvers, and their plantar pressure data were collected. Results Different crossing strategies significantly affected the adjustment speed of the leading foot's center of pressure in the medial-lateral direction(COP_ML),the area of the 95%confidence circle,ML amplitude, and anterior-posterior(AP)amplitude(P<0.05).These strategies also significantly impacted the trailing foot's COP_ML adjustment speed, the area of the 95%confidence circle, and the range between the maximum and minimum swings(P<0.05).For the leading foot, during lateral and forward crossing, the balance parameter values under different heights and widths were statistically significant(P<0.05),increasing as the height and width increased. For the trailing foot, during forward crossing, the balance parameter values under different heights were statistically significant(P<0.05),increasing with height, while during lateral crossing, the differences in balance parameter values were not statistically significant(P>0.05).Conclusions Healthy young adults demonstrate better balance ability with the leading foot during forward obstacle crossing, which aligns with the movement habits of the dominant foot and daily activity patterns. The trailing foot exhibits a more stable plantar pressure distribution during lateral obstacle crossing, likely due to a larger contact area and more even center of gravity distribution.

Journal of Integrative Medicine 2025;23(5):528-536
OBJECTIVE:
To explore the association between acupuncture during controlled ovarian hyperstimulation (COH) and the live birth rate (LBR) using different propensity score methods.
METHODS:
In this retrospective cohort study, eligible women who underwent a COH were divided into acupuncture and non-acupuncture groups. The primary outcome was LBR, as determined by propensity score matching (PSM). LBR was defined as the delivery of one or more living infants that reached a gestational age over 28 weeks after embryo transfer. The propensity score model encompassed 16 confounding variables. To validate the results, sensitivity analyses were conducted using three additional propensity score methods: propensity score adjustment, inverse probability weighting (IPW), and IPW with a "doubly robust" estimator.
RESULTS:
The primary cohort encompassed 9751 patients (1830 [18.76%] in the acupuncture group and 7921 [81.23%] in the non-acupuncture group). Following 1:1 PSM, a higher LBR was found in the acupuncture cohort (41.4% [755/1824] vs 36.4% [664/1824], with an odds ratio of 1.23 [95% confidence interval, 1.08-1.41]). Three additional propensity score methods produced essentially similar results. The risk of serious adverse events did not significantly differ between the two groups.
CONCLUSION
This retrospective study revealed an association between acupuncture and an increased LBR among patients undergoing COH, and that acupuncture is a safe and valuable treatment option. Objective To investigate the changing antibiotic resistance profiles of E.coli isolated from patients in the 52 hospitals participating in the CHINET program from 2015 to 2021.Methods Antimicrobial susceptibility was tested for clinical isolates of E.coli according to the unified protocol of CHINET program.WHONET 5.6 and SPSS 20.0 software were used for data analysis. Results Atotal of 289 760 nonduplicate clinical strains ofE.coli were isolated from 2015 to 2021,mainly from urine samples(44.7±3.2)%.The proportion of E.coli strains isolated from urine samples was higher in females than in males(59.0%vs 29.5%).The proportion of E.coli strains isolated from respiratory tract and cerebrospinal fluid samples was significantly higher in children than in adults(16.7%vs 7.8%,0.8%vs 0.1%,both P<0.05).The isolates from internal medicine department accounted for the largest proportion(28.9±2.8)%with an increasing trend over years.Overall, the prevalence of ESBLs-producing E.coli and carbapenem resistant E.coli(CREco)was 55.9%and 1.8%,respectively during the 7-year period. The prevalence of ESBLs-producing E.coli was the highest in tertiary hospitals each year from 2015 to 2021 compared to secondary hospitals. The prevalence of CREco was higher in children's hospitals compared to secondary and tertiary hospitals each year from 2015 to 2021.The prevalence of ESBLs-producing E.coli in tertiary hospitals and children's hospitals and the prevalence of CREco in children's hospitals showed a decreasing trend over the 7-year period. The prevalence of CREco in secondary and tertiary hospitals increased slowly.Antibiotic resistance rates changed slowly from 2015 to 2021.Carbapenem drugs(imipenem, meropenem)were the most active drugs amongβ-lactams against E.coli(resistance rate≤2.1%).The resistance rates of E.coli to β-lactam/β-lactam inhibitor combinations(piperacillin-tazobactam,cefoperazone-sulbactam),aminoglycosides(amikacin),nitrofurantoin and fosfomycin(for urinary isolates only)were all less than 10%.The resistance rate of E.coli strains to antibiotics varied with the level of hospitals and the departments where the strains were isolated, especially for cefazolin and ciprofloxacin,to which the resistance rate of E.coli strains from children in non-ICU departments was significantly lower than that of the strains isolated from other departments(P<0.05).The E.coli isolates from ICU showed higher resistance rate to most antimicrobial agents tested(excluding tigecycline)than the strains isolated from other departments. The E.coli strains isolated from tertiary hospitals showed higher resistance rates to the antimicrobial agents tested(excluding tigecycline, polymyxin B,cefepime and carbapenems)than the strains from secondary hospitals and children's hospitals. Conclusions E.coli is an important pathogen causing clinical infection.More than half of the clinical isolates produced ESBL.The prevalence of CREco is increasing in secondary and tertiary hospitals over the 7-year period even though the overall prevalence is still low. This is an issue of concern.
