Objective To analyze the characteristics of viral hepatitis mortality and life loss among residents in Pudong New Area from 2003 to 2023, and to provide a basis for related prevention and control work. Methods Viral hepatitis mortality data were obtained from the Pudong New Area mortality monitoring system. The crude mortality rate (CMR), standardized mortality rate (SMR), potential years of life lost (PYLL), average years of life lost (AYLL), and standardized potential years of life lost (SPYLL) were calculated to analyze viral hepatitis deaths. The average annual change (AAPC) and annual percentage change (APC) of the mortality rate were calculated by Joinpoint regression analysis to analyze the trend of mortality. Results The CMR and SMR of viral hepatitis among residents in Pudong New Area from 2003 to 2023 were 3.89/100000 and 1.98/100000, respectively. Both CMR and SMR of viral hepatitis showed a decreasing trend over time (CMR:APC=-5.476, t=-13.581, P<0.001; SMR:APC=- 7.624, t= -21.253, P<0.001). The CMR for males was 4.75/100000 and the SMR for males was 2.65/100000; the CMR for females was 3.04/100000 and the SMR for females was 1.32/100000, with a higher mortality rate for males than for females(ZCME=12.094,P<0.001; ZSMR=-14.718,P<0.001). Deaths were concentrated in the age groups of 45-64 years old and 65 years old and above, accounting for 91.62% of the total deaths. The PYLL of deaths due to viral hepatitis among residents in Pudong New Area from 2003 to 2023 was 26912 person-years, with a PYLLR of 0.45% and an AYLL of 8.88 years per person. Conclusion The mortality rate of viral hepatitis among the residents of Pudong New Area in 2003-2023 shows a decreasing trend over time. The mortality rate of males is higher than that of females, and the deaths of middle-aged and elderly people account for a large proportion of the total deaths. Chronic hepatitis B is the main cause of death.

Objective:
To revise and validate the reliability and validity of Chinese version of the Benevolent Childhood Experiences (BCEs) Scale among college students, so as to provide a scientific and reliable assessment tool for related research.
Methods:
From April to June 2025, a stratified cluster random sampling method was used to select 1 677 freshmen from a university in Xuzhou City as participants. The survey was conducted by using the revised Benevolent Childhood Experiences (BCEs) Scale, Childhood Trauma Questionnaire (CTQ) and Brief Suicidal Behavior Scale. Reliability analysis, exploratory factor analysis (EFA), confirmatory factor analysis (CFA), Spearman correlation analysis, and hierarchical linear regression analysis were employed to evaluate the scale s reliability, validity, and relationships among variables.
Results:
The mean scores of the 10 items on the BCEs Scale ranged from 3.97 to 4.46, with standard deviations ranging from 0.88 to 1.07. The Cronbach α coefficient was 0.96. Exploratory factor analysis extracted a single factor, explaining 71.21% of the total variance. Confirmatory factor analysis indicated good model fit ( χ 2/df =4.81, goodness of fit index=0.99, comparative fit index=0.99, normed fit index=0.99, root mean square error of approximation=0.05, standardized root mean square residual=0.01). BCEs total scores were negatively correlated with CTQ total scores and all its dimensions among college students ( r =-0.53 to -0.13, all P < 0.01). Hierarchical regression analysis showed that BCEs moderated the effect of CTQ on suicidal behavior, with a statistically significant interaction ( β=-0.11, t=-4.01, P <0.01).
Conclusion
The Chinese revised version of the BCEs Scale demonstrates good reliability and validity, and it is suitable for assessing BCEs among Chinese college students.

Objective:
To examine the reciprocal relationships of anxiety and depressive symptoms, uncertainty stress with academic buoyancy among college students, providing evidence for mental health promotion and academic resilience enhancement.
Methods:
A multi stage cluster random sampling method was used to selected 741 undergraduates from grade 1 to 2 of a university in Xuzhou, Jiangsu Province. Participants completed two waves of surveys (T1: October 2022; T2: October 2023) using the Uncertainty Stress Scale, Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9), Generalized Anxiety Disorder-7 (GAD-7), and Academic Buoyancy Scale. Cross lagged models analyzed bidirectional relationships between three mental health variables and academic buoyancy, followed by latent variable modeling integrating all mental health dimensions.
Results:
Cross lagged model results revealed that T1 uncertainty stress negatively predicted T2 academic buoyancy ( β =-0.14), while T1 academic buoyancy negatively predicted T2 uncertainty stress ( β =-0.11); T1 depressive symptom negatively predicted T2 academic buoyancy ( β =-0.08), while T1 academic buoyancy negatively predicted T2 depressive symptom ( β =-0.09); furthermore, T1 academic buoyancy negatively predicted T2 anxiety symptom( β =-0.10) ( P <0.05). Results from the latent variable cross lagged model of psychological problems (constructed from the three mental health variables) indicated that T1 psychological problems negatively predicted T2 academic buoyancy ( β =-0.09), while T1 academic buoyancy negatively predicted T2 psychological problems ( β =-0.09) ( P <0.05).
Conclusions
Longitudinal bidirectional relationships exist between mental health status and academic buoyancy in college students. Better mental health facilitates higher academic buoyancy.

Chinese Journal of Health Management 2025;19(9):707-713
Objective:Investigating the association of the systemic immune-inflammation index and the pan-inflammation index with incident non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD).Methods:This retrospective cohort study included 42 891 participants who underwent at least two health examinations at the Second Affiliated Hospital of Dalian Medical University between 2014 and 2023. Based on their levels of the systemic immune inflammation index (SII) and the pan immune inflammation value (PIV), participants were respectively divided into four quartile groups (Q1 to Q4). Cox proportional hazards models were employed to analyze the association of different SII and PIV levels, as well as their quartile groups, with new onset NAFLD in the total population and across various subgroups. Restricted cubic splines were used to examine the dose response relationship between these inflammatory indices and incident NAFLD. Additionally, sensitivity analyses were conducted to confirm the robustness of the findings. Results:After adjusting for confounding factors, the natural logarithm-transformed lnSII ( HR=1.247, 95% CI: 1.184-1.314, P<0.001) and lnPIV ( HR=1.192, 95% CI: 1.148-1.238, P<0.001) were significantly positively associated with the risk of NAFLD. When the subjects were grouped by SII quartiles (Q1-Q4), compared with those in Q1, participants in Q2, Q3, and Q4 exhibited progressively higher risks of incident NAFLD:11.9% ( HR=1.119, 95% CI: 1.051-1.192, P<0.001), 17.1% ( HR=1.171, 95% CI: 1.100-1.248, P<0.001), and 29.1% ( HR=1.291, 95% CI: 1.211-1.377, P<0.001), respectively. Quartile analysis of PIV yielded similar trends: the risk of incident NAFLD increased for 10.4% ( HR=1.104, 95% CI: 1.034-1.179, P=0.003), 18.7% ( HR=1.187, 95% CI: 1.112-1.266, P<0.001), and 30.5% ( HR=1.305, 95% CI: 1.223-1.393, P<0.001) in Q2, Q3, and Q4 group respectively when compared to that in Q1 group. Subgroup analysis confirmed consistent associations of SII and PIV with elevated NAFLD risk across all subgroups. Conclusion:Elevated levels of SII and PIV are significantly associated with increased risk of NAFLD.

Objective:To develop and validate a deep learning-based multimodal model integrating clinical and radiomic features for predicting acute kidney injury(AKI)risk after partial nephrectomy. Methods:A retrospective analysis was conducted on 416 patients who underwent partial nephrectomy at Zhongshan Hospital,Fudan University from January 2023 to January 2025. The cohort included 100 AKI patients[defined by a ≥ 25% reduction in postoperative evaluated glomerular filtration rate(eGFR)within 48 hours sustained for >24 hours]and 316 non-AKI patients(1∶3 ratio, randomly matched with 16 additional cases for redundancy). Clinical and radiomic features were extracted from preoperative contrast-enhanced CT scans using PyRadiomics. Demographics included 259 males and 158 females, with a median age of 57(49,65)years,body mass index of(24.1 ± 3.3)kg/m2,preoperative eGFR of(88.5 ± 18.3)ml/(min·1.73 m2),postoperative eGFR(48-hour)of(76.0 ± 21.9)ml/(min·1.73 m2),Zhongshan Score(ZSscore)of 7.34 ± 2.01,and R.E.N.A.L. score of 7.50 ± 1.71. All tumors were T 1a stage. Patients were divided into training(n = 312)and test(n = 104)sets(3∶1 ratio). A clinical model was constructed via multivariate logistic regression, while radiomic and combined(clinical + radiomic)models utilized an artificial neural network(ANN)with 1 input layer,5 hidden layers,1 output layer, and 10 5 training epochs. Model performance was evaluated by using receiver operating characteristic(ROC)curves and area under the curve(AUC),and was compared to the Martini model. Feature contributions were interpreted via SHapley Additive exPlanations(SHAP). Results:In the test set,the results of multivariate logistic regression showed that patient’s weight, preoperative eGFR,R.E.N.A.L. score, surgical approach, and operation time were risk factors for AKI( P < 0.05). The AUC of the clinical feature prediction model constructed based on the above factors was 0.852(95% CI 0.775?0.929). In the test set,the AUC of the Martini model was 0.725(95% CI 0.565?0.791). The radiomic model, trained on 1 315 imaging features, achieved an AUC of 0.898(95% CI 0.804?0.993)with 94.2%(98/104)accuracy. The combined clinical and radiomic model, integrating 1 315 radiomic features and clinical features, demonstrated superior performance with an AUC of 0.946(95% CI 0.887?1.000)and 96.2%(100/104)accuracy,outperforming both the clinical model( P = 0.03)and the Martini model( P < 0.01). SHAP analysis identified the top five predictors in the combined model:ZSscore(SHAP value:0.78),long-run low gray-level emphasis(SHAP value:0.61),run-length non-uniformity(SHAP value:0.58),size-zone non-uniformity(SHAP value:0.46),and gray-level co-occurrence matrix joint energy(SHAP value:0.36). Conclusions:The deep learning-based multimodal model integrating clinical and radiomic features accurately predicts AKI risk after partial nephrectomy, offering a novel strategy for preoperative risk stratification and personalized intervention.

International Journal of Biomedical Engineering 2025;48(2):145-151
Objective:To investigate the effect of intestinal air cavity on dose distribution of volumetric intensity modulated arc therapy (VMAT) for cervical cancer. Methods:A total of 10 patients who underwent radiotherapy for cervical cancer at Suzhou Municipal Hospital from January to May 2021 were retrospectively analyzed. For each patient, the same optimization parameters were used to design both a normal full-arc plan and a field avoidance-region plan. The intestinal air cavity identified on computed tomography (CT) imaging was outlined as a separate structure. The dose distribution of the two plans were compared before and after changing the CT value (the electron density of the intestinal air cavity) to 0, using a paired t-test. Additionally, consecutive three-week cone beam CT (CBCT) images were collected for each patient. The intestinal air cavities from the three-week CBCT images were mapped onto the original CT, and the dose distributions of both plans were calculated on the CBCT images. The differences in dose distributions compared to the original plan were analyzed to assess plan robustness. Results:The 105% prescription dose coverage of the target volume ( V105) [(43.62±5.18)%)] within the target area for the field avoidance-region plan was greater than that for the normal full-arc plan [(36.38±10.20)%], with a statistically significant difference ( P<0.05). After modifying the electron density of the intestinal air cavity, the dose distribution in the target area worsened for both plans. However, the V100 and V105 for the field avoidance-region plan [(?0.64±0.58)%, (?2.16±1.66)%] were smaller than those for the normal full-arc plan [(?2.52±1.91)%, (?6.79±2.02)%], with a statistically significant difference (both P<0.05).The V30 for the small intestine in the field avoidance-region plan [(40.28±4.77)%] was lower than that in the normal full-arc plan [(42.63±4.82)%]. The V40 for the rectum [(61.70±15.39)%] and the V20 [(36.32±3.09)%, (35.06±5.32)%] and V30 [(17.76±3.05)%, (16.67±8.14)%] for the left and right femoral heads were higher than those in the normal full-arc plan {(59.72±15.13)%, [(31.36±3.97)%, (27.00±7.79%)] and [(12.99±4.55)%, (11.11±7.20)%]}, respectively, with a statistically significant differences (all P<0.05). The changes in V105 on the weekly CBCT images [(3.27±2.91)%, (2.07±2.93)%, (2.14±2.08)%] and V100 on the second and third weeks′ images [(0.44±0.54)%, (0.54±0.50)%] for the field avoidance-region plan were smaller than those for the normal full-arc plan [(8.22±5.87)%, (5.31±3.97)%, (6.91±3.34)% and (1.70±1.53)%, (2.22±1.97)%], with a statistically significant difference (all P<0.05). Conclusions:The field avoidance-region plan demonstrates higher robustness and better small bowel protection than the normal full-arc plan. The influence of intestinal air cavities on dose distribution should be considered during VMAT planing for cervical cancer to guide optimal plan selection.

ObjectiveTo observe the clinical effectiveness of horticultural therapy involving the planting of Chinese medicinal herbs (mint and lily potted plants) combined with intradermal needling therapy for generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) of liver depression transforming into fire syndrome under transcranial magnetic stimulation and basic psychological therapy, and to explore the possible mechanisms of action. MethodsA total of 180 patients with GAD of liver depression transforming into fire syndrome were randomly divided into three groups, horticultural therapy group, intradermal needling group, and horticultural therapy+intradermal needling group, with 60 patients in each. All groups received basic treatment including basic psychological therapy and transcranial magnetic stimulation. The horticultural therapy group received horticultural therapy in addition to the basic treatment; the intradermal needling group received intradermal needling therapy once a week for 8 weeks in addition to the basic treatment; the horticultural therapy+intradermal needling group received both horticultural therapy and intradermal needling therapy, following the same procedures and duration. Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale (HAMA), Self-Rating Anxiety Scale (SAS), and Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) scores were assessed at baseline and after 2, 4, 6, and 8 weeks of treatment. Serum levels of adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH) and corticosterone (CORT) were measured before treatment and after 8 weeks of treatment. Motor-evoked potential (MEP) baseline levels were recorded before treatment, and MEP amplitude ratios were compared after 1 week and 8 weeks of treatment. Clinical effectiveness and safety were evaluated after 8 weeks of treatment. Pearson correlation analysis was used to examine the relationships between serum ACTH and CORT levels, MEP amplitude, and anxiety. ResultsIn the horticultural therapy group and intradermal needling group, HAMA, SAS and PSQI scores after 4, 6, and 8 weeks treatment were lower than baseline scores (P<0.05). In the horticultural therapy+intradermal needling group, these scores showed a significant decline starting after 2 weeks treatment and continuing through 8 weeks after treatment (P<0.05). The HAMA, SAS, and PSQI scores in the horticultural therapy+intradermal needling group were significantly lower than those in the other two groups after 2, 4, 6, and 8 weeks treatment (P<0.05). After 8 weeks of treatment, serum CORT and ACTH levels in the horticultural therapy+intradermal needling group were significantly lower than baseline levels (P<0.05) and were also lower than those in the horticultural therapy group and intradermal needling group at the same time point (P<0.01). When comparing the level after 8 weeks treatment to that after 1 week treatment, under PAS10 stimulation, the MEP amplitude ratio in the intradermal needling group decreased at 30 minutes, while in the horticultural therapy+intradermal needling group, the MEP amplitude ratio decreased at all time points (P<0.05 or P<0.001); under PAS25 stimulation, the MEP amplitude ratio in the horticultural therapy group increased at 20 minutes, and in the intradermal needle group at 10 minutes (P<0.05). In the horticultural therapy+intradermal needling group, the MEP amplitude ratio increased significantly at all time points after treatment (P<0.001). The cure rate in the horticultural therapy+intradermal needling group (74.14%, 43/58) was significantly higher than that in the horticultural therapy group (30.00%, 18/60) and the intradermal needling group (48.28%, 28/58, P<0.05). Correlation analysis revealed that serum ACTH and CORT levels were positively correlated with HAMA scores (r = 0.488, P<0.01; r = 0.428, P<0.01). Following PAS10 intervention, the MEP amplitude ratio was positively correlated with HAMA scores (r = 0.458, P<0.01), whereas after PAS25 intervention, the MEP amplitude ratio was negatively correlated with HAMA scores (r = -0.562, P<0.01). ConclusionHorticultural therapy combined with intradermal needling treatment, under transcranial magnetic stimulation and basic psychological therapy, demonstrates significant clinical effectiveness in patients with GAD of liver depression transforming into fire syndrome. Its mechanism of action may be related to the regulation of hyperactivation of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis and the reduction of cortical excitability.
