ObjectiveTo investigate the therapeutic mechanism of artemether in diabetic sarcopenia(DS)using network pharmacology and animal experiments. MethodsPotential active components and therapeutic targets were screened using artemisinin as the parent compound. The predicted targets were intersected with DS-related targets, followed by construction of a protein-protein interaction (PPI) network. Gene Ontology (GO) and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) enrichment analyses were performed to identify the key biological processes and signaling pathways. Molecular docking was further used to evaluate the binding affinity between artemether and core targets. The DS mouse model was established using db/db mice, followed by artemether intervention. Fasting blood glucose, body weight, diabetes-related symptoms, body composition, grip strength, serum and skeletal muscle triglyceride levels, and muscle fiber cross-sectional area (CSA) were assessed. The expression levels of forkhead box O1 (FoxO1), Atrogin-1, muscle RING finger protein 1 (MuRF1), acyl-CoA synthetase short-chain family member 2 (ACSS2), carnitine palmitoyltransferase 2 (CPT2), and fatty acid-binding protein 3 (FABP3) in skeletal muscle were detected by qRT-PCR, Western blot, immunofluorescence, and immunohistochemistry. In addition, metabolomics was performed to analyze changes in acylcarnitine metabolites in skeletal muscle. ResultsA total of 68 overlapping targets between artemether and diabetic sarcopenia (DS) were identified. The core targets included AKT1, FoxO1, NFKB1, FBXO32, and TRIM63, which were mainly enriched in the phosphoinositide 3-kinase/protein kinase B (PI3K-Akt) signaling pathway, forkhead box O (FoxO) signWaling pathway, tumor necrosis factor (TNF) signaling pathway, and insulin resistance-related pathways. Molecular docking analysis showed that artemether exhibited favorable binding affinity with the core targets. Animal experiments demonstrated that artemether reduced fasting blood glucose, ameliorated metabolic symptoms, increased lean mass and grip strength, decreased serum and skeletal muscle triglyceride levels, and increased muscle fiber cross-sectional area (CSA) in DS mice. In addition, artemether downregulated the mRNA and protein expression levels of FoxO1, FBXO32/Atrogin-1, TRIM63/MuRF1, ACSS2, CPT2, and FABP3, and improved the disturbance of acylcarnitine metabolism in skeletal muscle. ConclusionArtemether improves metabolic and skeletal muscle phenotypes in DS mice. Its effects may be associated with the amelioration of lipid metabolic disorders and the downregulation of FoxO1 and its downstream ubiquitin-proteasome pathway-related factors Atrogin-1 and MuRF1 in skeletal muscle.
2.Policy analysis of family-school-society collaboration mechanisms for promoting students physical and mental health
Chinese Journal of School Health 2026;47(9):1240-1245
Objective:
To analyze the text structure, temporal evolution, and mechanism related shortcomings of policies related to family-school-society collaboration in promoting students physical and mental health in China, thereby providing a reference for improving collaborative mechanisms in the context of health promoting school development.
Methods:
The PKULAW Laws and Regulations Database was used as the data source. A total of 115 relevant policy documents issued by relevant departments from the founding of the People s Republic of China to May 7, 2026, were included. Drawing on the adolescent health policy analysis framework and adapting it to the Chinese contexts of family-school-society collaborative education, health promoting school development, and interdepartmental collaborative governance, policy text analysis was conducted. Multi label coding was applied to 629 semantic units, and fractional counting was used to calculate the weights of 6 main dimensions and 31 subdimensions and to describe the dimensional composition of the policies and its changes over time.
Results:
Policies related to family-school-society collaboration in promoting students physical and mental health gradually evolved from early principle based collaboration centered on the ideological and moral development of minors into institutional arrangements supported by the Healthy China initiative, the legal institutionalization of family education, collaborative education mechanisms, and health promoting school development. Among the 6 main dimensions, policy features and costs accounted for 54.8% of the total weight, followed by implementation considerations (22.9%), monitoring and evaluation (9.5%), policy appropriateness (5.6%), inclusion and coverage (4.8%), and participatory approach (2.5%). At the subdimension level, proposed interventions, target population characteristics, intersectoral linkages, consideration of adolescents social ecology, and goal setting accounted for 18.7%, 16.0%, 12.0%, 9.6%, and 9.4% of the total weight, respectively, whereas adolescent participation and the incorporation of young people s voices accounted for only 0.3% and 0.1% , respectively. These findings indicated that the policy texts focused primarily on problem identification, target population specification, and implementation arrangements, while provisions concerning students active participation, identification of differentiated needs, and support from disaggregated data remained relatively limited.
Conclusions
China has established a policy framework for family-school-society collaboration in promoting students physical and mental health that emphasizes goal setting, responsibility division, and organizational implementation, while gradually extending to specific health promotion tasks. Nevertheless, policy provisions concerning students active participation, the identification of differentiated needs, stratified and category specific monitoring, and the use of evaluation feedback require further specification.
3.Related factors and collaborative action framework of multi-disease co-prevention in children and adolescents
Chinese Journal of School Health 2026;47(9):1364-1368
Abstract
The cooccurrence of multi disease among children and adolescents has become increasingly prominent, necessitating a shift from "single disease separate treatment" to "multi disease co prevention". Focusing on four common health problems in children and adolescents, namely, myopia, depression, overweight/obesity, and spinal abnormalities, the paper systematically reviews the association between four categories of factors, society, environment, family, and individual behavior, and the co occurrence of the aforementioned health problems. The findings indicate that particulate matter 2.5 exposure, light at night, physical inactivity, excessive screen time, and unhealthy diet constitute the primary cross dimensional risk network. Based on these findings, the paper proposes a collaborative action framework involving family, school, and society, emphasizing systematic strategies ranging from upstream environmental governance to downstream behavioral intervention, so as to provide evidence for the practice and policy making of multi disease co-prevention in children and adolescents.

Objective To compare the efficacy and tolerability of the novel bowel-cleansing agent TCIC-001 and the traditional polyethylene glycol (PEG) regimen for bowel preparation prior to colonoscopy. Methods Prospective inclusion of 62 patients who were scheduled to undergo colonoscopy at Zhongshan Hospital, Fudan University from July 2021 to July 2022. They were randomly divided into TCIC-001 group (n=31) and PEG group (n=31) using a random number table method. The TCIC-001 group took TCIC-001 orally, drinking water in stages, with a total liquid intake of 1 500 mL; the PEG group took PEG orally, taking it in 4 doses, with a total liquid intake of 3 000 mL. The primary endpoint indicator is the quality of intestinal hygiene evaluated by the Boston Bowel Preparation Scale (BBPS), the secondary endpoint indicators were medication adherence, medication duration, frequency of bowel movements, duration of bowel movements, and incidence of adverse events between two groups. Results No significant differences were observed in sex, age, or defecation frequency between the two groups. For efficacy, both groups achieved equivalent bowel cleanliness, with a “good preparation” rate of 93.55% and comparable BBPS score of each intestinal segment and total scores. For tolerability, the TCIC-001 group had a shorter medication duration compared to the PEG group ([48.8±25.9] min vs [82.8±28.4] min, P<0.001), a longer defecation duration ([288.6±74.0] min vs [236.5±74.3] min, P<0.001), and a lower incidence of first defecation before medication completion (9.68% vs 41.94%, P=0.004). Regarding safety, no significant differences were observed between the TCIC-001 group and the PEG group in incidences of chloride disturbances (0% vs 9.68%) and calcium disturbances (3.23% vs 6.45%), and no other adverse events. Conclusions TCIC-001 demonstrated comparable bowel-cleansing efficacy to PEG while significantly improving tolerability (reduced medication time and lower risk of premature defecation) and maintaining favorable safety.

Objective:To analyze the changes in the prevalence characteristics of multimorbidity among adolescents aged 13-18 in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region from 2019 to 2022 and to explore the association between multimorbidity and moderate to high-intensity physical activity among them. Methods:A stratified random cluster sampling method was used to select students aged 13-18 in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region every September from 2019 to 2022. Physical examinations, demographic characteristics, and depression-related surveys were conducted to analyze the multimorbidity of overweight, obesity, high blood pressure, myopia, spinal curvature abnormality, and depression. A logistic regression model was used to analyze the association between multimorbidity and moderate to high-intensity physical activity. Results:From 2019 to 2022, 70 972, 62 923, 80 254, and 78 288 study subjects were included, with the rates of multimorbidity being 56.4%, 55.4%, 57.2%, and 55.8%, respectively. The rates of multimorbidity remained relatively stable from 2019 to 2022 ( χ2=0.06, P=0.950). The incidence of multimorbidity among girls was significantly higher than that among boys ( P<0.001). The incidence of multimorbidity among urban students was significantly higher than that among suburban students ( P<0.001). The incidence of multimorbidity among high school students was higher than that among middle school students ( P<0.001). The top three multimorbidity combinations were myopia and overweight/obesity (26.4%), myopia and high blood pressure (24.4%), and myopia and depression (19.8%), while the least common combination was depression and spinal curvature abnormality (1.1%). The multimorbidity patterns showed no significant differences between years ( χ2=0.03, P=0.999). The multimorbidity status was significantly associated with the status of meeting the standard of moderate to high-intensity physical activity ( OR=0.83, 95% CI: 0.80-0.86). The association was stronger in boys ( OR=0.77, 95% CI: 0.73-0.81) compared with girls ( OR=0.90, 95% CI: 0.85-0.96), with a significant interaction term ( P<0.001). Conclusion:From 2019 to 2022, the incidence of multimorbidity among adolescents aged 13 to 18 in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region is relatively high, mainly due to the co-occurrence of myopia and other health problems. Adequate physical activity is an important factor in reducing multimorbidity.

Objective:To evaluate the efficacy and safety of a new plasma radiofrequency generator and a disposable mucosal incision knife for endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) of gastrointestinal lesions. Methods:This study is a prospective, randomized, non-inferiority multicenter study (Chinese Clinical Trial Registry No.: ChiCTR2000041394). The inclusion criteria for cases are as follows: (1) being able to understand and voluntarily participate in this clinical trial, and voluntarily signing the informed consent form; (2) being 18-70 years old, regardless of gender; (3) having a gastrointestinal lesion and meeting the endoscopic treatment conditions for the indications of endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD). The exclusion criteria are: (1) meeting the contraindications for ESD; (2) having a surgical contraindication due to coagulation dysfunction or still taking anticoagulants 1 week before surgery; (3) having coagulation dysfunction, that is, the prothrombin time is prolonged by more than 3 seconds (more than 5 seconds in patients with liver disease), or the activated partial thromboplastin time is prolonged by more than 10 seconds, and the platelet count is < 70×10?/L; (4) having severe cardiopulmonary insufficiency and being unable to tolerate the surgery; (5) being a reproductive-aged woman with a positive blood or urine pregnancy test or a lactating woman; (6) the investigator deems that there are other factors that are not suitable for inclusion or affect the subject's participation. Patients who underwent ESD treatment for gastrointestinal lesions from March 2019 to April 2023 at the Endoscopy Center of Zhongshan Hospital Affiliated to Fudan University, the Department of Gastroenterology of Minhang District Central Hospital in Shanghai, and the Department of Gastroenterology of Quzhou People's Hospital were prospectively included. The experimental group used a new plasma radiofrequency therapy instrument and a disposable mucosal incision knife, while the control group used a high-frequency electrosurgical system and a disposable mucosal incision knife. The primary efficacy indicator was the en bloc resection success rate, the secondary efficacy indicators included the coagulation success rate, and the operation stability of the plasma radiofrequency therapy instrument and the disposable mucosal incision knife; the safety indicators included the incidence of intraoperative bleeding, intraoperative perforation, and postoperative complications. Results:The study cohort comprised 194 patients, 95 in the experimental group and 99 in the control group. Analysis of the full set showed rates of en bloc resection of 97.89% (93/95) and 96.97% (96/99) in the experimental and control groups, respectively; the difference being 0.53% (-5.58%, 6.64%). Analysis of the compliance set showed rates of en bloc resection of 97.83% (90/92) and 96.88% (93/96) in the experimental and control groups, respectively; the difference being 0.58% (-5.79%, 6.94%). These data indicate that the rate of en bloc resection in the experimental group using plasma radiofrequency therapy and disposable mucosal incision was not inferior to that of the control group. The rates of achieving intraoperative coagulation in the experimental and control groups were 7.14% (5/70) and 5.97% (4/67), respectively; this difference is not statistically significant ( P=1.000). The control group had a significantly better rate of using the same instruments throughout the procedure than did the experimental group ( P<0.001). In the safety analysis set, the incidences of intraoperative and postoperative adverse events did not differ significantly between the two groups (both P>0.05). Conclusion:Plasma radiofrequency therapy equipment and a disposable mucosal incision knife are safe and effective instruments for performing ESD of gastrointestinal lesions.

10.Association between mental health and muscle strength among Chinese adolescents aged 13-18
Chinese Journal of School Health 2025;46(9):1232-1236
Objective:
To explore the association between mental health and muscle strength among Chinese adolescents aged 13- 18, providing a theoretical foundation and intervention strategies for mental health promotion.
Methods:
Data were obtained from the 2019 Chinese National Survey on Students Constitution and Health, including 98 631 Chinese adolescents aged 13- 18. Psychological distress was assessed by using the Kessler Psychological Distress Scale (K10), and mental well being was measured with the Warwick-Edinburgh Mental Well being Scale (WEMWBS). Based on the gender and age specific Z scores of various test items [grip strength, standing long jump, pull ups (for males), and sit ups (for females)], muscle strength index (MSI) was constructed to evaluate the comprehensive level of muscle strength in adolescents. According to the Dual factor Model (DFM) of mental health, participants were categorized into four groups:troubled, symptomatic but content, vulnerable, and complete mental health. Gender differences were analyzed by using Chi-square tests, trends were tested with Cochran-Armitage tests, and multinomial Logistic regression models were applied to assess associations between muscle strength and mental health among adolescents.
Results:
In 2019, 37.4% of Chinese adolescents aged 13-18 were reported of high mental distress, and 59.9% were reported of low mental well being. Boys had significantly lower rates of high mental distress (35.3%) and low mental well being (55.6%) compared to girls (39.4%, 64.3%), and the differences were of statistical significance ( χ 2=176.13, 780.42, both P <0.05). In 2019, the rate of complete mental health among adolescents showed a downward trend with increasing age ( χ 2 trend = 258.47) and a gradual upward trend with increasing muscle strength levels ( χ 2 trend =123.14),and both boys and girls exhibited similar trends ( χ 2 trend =103.83, 168.46; 57.00 , 67.34) (all P <0.05). The results of the unordered multiclass Logistic regression model showed that after controlling for confounding factors such as age and gender, when the completely pathological group as a reference, for every 1 unit increase in MSI in adolescents, the likelihood of being in a completely mental health state increased by 29% ( OR = 1.29); for every unit increase in the Z-score for pull ups, the likelihood of being in a completely mental health state increased by 6% ( OR =1.06) among boys; for every 1 unit increase in sit up Z score, the likelihood of being in a completely mental health state increased by 19% ( OR =1.19) among girls (all P <0.05).
Conclusions
The mental health status of Chinese adolescents is not good enough. Muscle strength is positively associated with mental health.
