Objective:To investigate the effects and mechanism of Qiangjin Zhuanggu Capsules in bone remodeling in ovariectomized osteoporotic mice.Methods:Totally 75 8-week-old C57BL/6 female mice were divided into a sham-operation group of 15 mice and a modeling group of 60 mice. The model was created using bilateral ovariectomy (OVX) to replicate a postmenopausal osteoporosis mouse model. The successfully modeled mice were divided into model group, estradiol group, and Qiangjin Zhuanggu Capsules low-, medium-, and high-dosage groups using a random number table method, with 10 mice in each group. The estradiol group was given a 0.013 mg/ml solution of estradiol valerate tablets by gavage; Qiangjin Zhuanggu Capsules low-, medium-, and high-dosage groups were orally administered with Qiangjin Zhuanggu Capsule solution at dosages of 46.0, 92.0, and 184.0 mg/ml. The sham-operation group and model group were orally administered with equal volumes of physiological saline once a day for 8 consecutive weeks. After the intervention, the femoral trabecular bone structure, bone mineral density (BMD), bone volume/total volume (BV/TV), trabecular number (Tb.N), trabecular thickness (Tb.Th), bone surface area/bone volume (BS/BV), and trabecular separation (Tb.Sp) were assessed using Micro-CT. Serum levels of bone metabolism markers such as calcium (Ca), phosphorus (P), bone alkaline phosphatase (BALP), osteocalcin (OCN), and cathepsin K (CTSK) were measured by ELISA. Hematoxylin and eosin (HE) and Masson staining were used to observe the morphological changes in femoral trabecular bone structure and collagen fibers. Western blot analysis was employed to detect the protein expression of Runt-related transcription factor 2 (Runx2), alkaline phosphatase (ALP), and bone morphogenetic protein-2 (BMP-2), .Results:Compared with the model group, the levels of BMD, BV/TV, Tb. N, and Tb.Th ( P<0.01 or P<0.05) in estradiol group and Qiangjin Zhuanggu Capsule medium- and high-dosage groups increased ( P<0.01, P<0.05), and BS/BV and Tb.Sp decreased ( P<0.01, P<0.05)serum levels of Ca, P, BALP, and OCN were elevated ( P<0.01, P<0.05), while CTSK was reduced ( P<0.01); the expression of Runx2, ALP and BMP-2 proteins significantly increased ( P<0.01, P<0.05). Conclusion:Qiangjin Zhuanggu Capsules exhibit preventive and therapeutic effects on postmenopausal osteoporosis, potentially through the regulation of Runx2, ALP and BMP-2.

ObjectiveTo investigate the protective effect of the extract of Liuwei Dihuangwan （LW） on mitochondrial damage in the Alzheimer's disease （AD） model of Caenorhabditis elegans （C. elegans）. MethodC. elegans transfected with human β-amyloid protein （Aβ） _1-42 gene was used as an AD model. The rats were divided into blank group， model group， metformin group （50 mmol·L^-1）， and low， medium， and high dose （1.04， 2.08， 4.16 g·kg^-1） LW groups. Behavioral methods were used to observe the sensitivity of 5-hydroxytryptamine （5-HT） in nematodes. Western blot was used to detect the expression of Aβ in nematodes. Total ATP content in nematodes was detected by the adenine nucleoside triphosphate （ATP） kit， and mitochondrial membrane potential was detected by the JC-1 method. In addition， the mRNA expression of Aβ expression gene （Amy-1）， superoxide dismutase-1 （SOD-1）， mitochondrial transcription factor A homologous gene-5 （HMG-5）， mitochondrial power-associated protein 1 （DRP1）， and mitochondrial mitoprotein 1 （FIS1） was detected by real-time fluorescence quantitative polymerase chain reaction （RT-PCR）. ResultThe extract of LW could reduce the hypersensitivity of the AD model of nematodes to exogenous 5-HT （P<0.05） and delay the AD-like pathological characteristics of hypersensitivity to exogenous 5-HT caused by toxicity from overexpression of Aβ in neurons of the AD model of nematodes. Compared with the blank group， in the model group， the mRNA expression of Aβ protein and Amy-1 increased （P<0.01）， and the mRNA expression of SOD-1 and HMG-5 decreased （P<0.01）. The mRNA expression of DRP1 and FIS1 increased （P<0.01）， and the level of mitochondrial membrane potential decreased （P<0.05）. The content of ATP decreased （P<0.01）. Compared with the model group， in the positive medicine group and medium and high dose LW groups， the mRNA expression of Aβ protein and Amy-1 decreased （P<0.05，P<0.01）， and the mRNA expression of SOD-1 and HMG-5 increased （P<0.01）. The mRNA expression of DRP1 decreased （P<0.05，P<0.01）， and that of FIS1 decreased （P<0.01）. The level of mitochondrial membrane potential increased （P<0.01）， and the content of ATP increased （P<0.05，P<0.01）. ConclusionThe extract of LW may enhance the antioxidant ability of mitochondria， protect mitochondrial DNA， reduce the fragmentation of mitochondrial division， repair the damaged mitochondria， adjust the mitochondrial membrane potential， restore the level of neuronal ATP， and reduce the neuronal damage caused by Aβ deposition.

BACKGROUND: Lung cancer is a disease with a high incidence rate in Yunnan province, yet there is a paucity of large-scale studies on its clinical epidemiology. This research aims to investigate the epidemiological characteristics of patients who underwent lung cancer surgery at Yunnan Cancer Hospital over the past decade, thereby providing a theoretical basis for the prevention and treatment of lung cancer. METHODS: Clinical data were collected from 15,967 patients who underwent lung cancer surgery at Yunnan Cancer Hospital between 2013 and 2022. A statistical analysis was conducted on the patients' general data, surgical information, pathological types of lung cancer, and other clinical epidemiological characteristics. RESULTS: Among the 15,967 cases of lung cancer, 46.3% were male and 53.7% were female, with the male-to-female ratio ranging from 0.68 to 1.61:1. The median age was 56 years (interquartile range: 49-63), and 37.0% of the patients were in the age group of 50-59 years. Since 2017, there has been an annual increase in the proportion of patients under the age of 60 years. The smoking status of the patients showed that 28.1% were smokers and 71.9% were non-smokers. Qujing city accounted for 41.4% and Kunming city for 23.2% of the cases in Yunnan province, with 29.6% of patients originating from Xuanwei and Fuyuan areas of Qujing city. The distribution of affected lung lobes was as follows: right upper lobe 28.2%, right middle lobe 6.3%, right lower lobe 20.1%, left upper lobe 22.7%, and left lower lobe 16.4%. The use of thoracoscopic surgery increased from 30.8% to 96.3%, with single-port thoracoscopic surgery comprising 61.3%. Lobectomy was performed in 64.2% of cases, wedge resection in 17.2%, and segmentectomy in 12.2%. The proportion of lobectomy decreased from 83.1% to 46.1%. The proportion of patients in stages 0-I increased from 43.5% to 82.8%, while stages II-IV decreased from 56.5% to 17.2%. Adenocarcinoma increased from 75.6% to 88.3%, and squamous cell carcinoma decreased from 21.5% to 8.6%. Among adenocarcinoma patients, 60.9% were female. Among sguamous cell carcinoma patients, 90.6% were male. The peak age for adenocarcinoma was 50-59 years, and for squamous cell carcinoma, it was 60-69 years. The smoking rate was higher among squamous cell carcinoma patients (65.9%) compared to adenocarcinoma patients (22.3%). Adenocarcinoma patients had a higher proportion in stages 0-I (76.3%), while squamous cell carcinoma patients were more prevalent in stages II-III (64.1%). CONCLUSIONS The findings indicate an increasing proportion of female patients with adenocarcinoma, a younger age of onset, a higher proportion of non-smoking lung cancer patients, and an increased proportion of stages 0-I lung cancer. These trends may reflect the epidemiological characteristics of patients undergoing lung cancer surgery in Yunnan and surrounding areas over the past decade.

High glucose level, bacterial infection, and persistent inflammation within the microenvironment are key factors contributing to the delay of diabetic ulcers healing, while traditional therapeutic methods generally fail to address these issues simultaneously. Here, we present a spatiotemporally responsive cascade bilayer microneedle (MN) patch for accelerating diabetic wound healing via local glucose depletion and sustained nitric oxide (NO) release for long-term antibacterial and anti-inflammatory effects. The MN patch (G/AZ-MNs) possesses a degradable tip layer loading glucose oxidase (GOx), as well as a dissolvable base layer encapsulating l-arginine (Arg)-loaded nanoparticles (NPs). After wound administration, the base part rapidly dissolved, resulting in prompt separation of the MN tip within the wound tissue, which subsequently responded to the overexpressed matrix metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-9) in diabetic lesions, leading to the responsive release of GOx. The released enzyme catalyzed glucose into gluconic acid and hydrogen peroxide (H₂O₂), which not only reduced glucose level within the diabetic wound, but also initiated the cascade reaction between H₂O₂ with the Arg that was released from NPs, thereby achieving continuous production of NO for 7 days. Our findings demonstrate that a single administration of the MN patch could effectively heal non-infected or biofilm-infected diabetic wounds with the multifunctional properties.

Developing analytical methods for the chemical components of natural medicines remains a challenge due to its diversity and complexity. Miao-Fu-Zhi-Tong (MFZT) granules, an ethnic Yi herbal prescription, comprises 10 herbs and has been clinically applied for gouty arthritis (GA) therapy. Herein, a series of chemical profiling strategies including in-house library matching, molecular networking and MS/MS fragmentation behavior validation based on ultra-high performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (UHPLC-MS/MS) were developed for qualitative analysis of MFZT granules. A total of 207 compounds were identified or characterized in which several rare guanidines were discovered and profiled into alkyl substituted or cyclic subtypes. Moreover, network pharmacology analysis indicated that MFZT's anti-gout mechanism was mostly associated with the nuclear factor kappa-B (NF-κB) signaling, nucleotide oligomerization domain (NOD)-like signaling and rheumatoid arthritis pathways, along with the synergistic effect of 84 potential active compounds. In addition, a quantitative analytical method was developed to simultaneously determine the 29 potential effective components. Among them, berberine, pellodendrine, 3-feruloylquinic acid, neoastilbin, isoacteoside and chlorogenic acid derivatives at higher concentrations were considered as the chemical markers for quality control. These findings provide a holistic chemical basis for MFZT granules and will support the development of effective analytical methods for the herbal formulas of natural medicines.

Objective: To observe the treatment effect of oral propranolol combined with topical timolol maleate for infantile maxillofacial mixed hemangioma and provide evidence for clinical treatment. Methods: Ninety-seven cases of infantile maxillofacial mixed hemangioma were enrolled. The cases were randomly divided into A and B groups: 50 cases in group A were treated with oral propranolol combined with topical timolol maleate, and 47 cases in group B were treated with oral propranolol only. The changes in the color, volume, and texture of the tumors were recorded before and after treatment, and color ultrasonography of the lesion area was performed. The follow-up time was 1-12 months. The differences in the curative effect, effective time and adverse reaction between the two groups were compared. Results : The effective rate of group A was 92.0% (46/50) and that of group B was 74.5% (35/47), with a statistical significance (P < 0.05). The mean time of treatment in group A was 4.2 months and that in group B was 5.5 months. Compared with group B, the treatment time of group B was shorter (t=3.211, P < 0.05), and no serious adverse reactions occurred in both groups. Conclusion Oral propranolol combined with topical timolol maleate is effective in the treatment of mixed hemangioma of the maxillofacial region in infants.

Objective: To evaluate the safety and efficacy of DSA-guided percutaneous application of ethanol sclerotherapy combined with lauromacrogol foam sclerotherapy for the treatment of hyper-backflow venous malformations. Methods: The clinical data of 72 cases of hyper-backflow venous malformation of head and neck from August 2012 to June 2016 by DSA-guided percutaneous puncture sclerotherapy were analyzed retrospectively. Based on the method of sclerotherapy, the patients were divided into group A and B. Group A was treated with ethanol combined with lauromacrogol foam, and Group B was treated with lauromacrogol foam alone. All patients were followed up for 12-24 months (mean 14.3 months). The curative effects and postoperative adverse responses were analyzed by comparision.SPSS 19.0 software was applied, effective rate and adverse reaction rate were examined by chi square test.P<0.05 was considered as statistically significant. Results: Group A(37 cases), cure was achieved in 10, basic cure in 21 and effective response in 3, ineffective response in 3, with a total efficiency of 91.9%(34/37). There were 3.2 average injections. The mean dose of sclerosant foam used in each patient was 220 mg and ethanol 13.6 ml. Group B(35 cases), cure was achieved in 5, basic cure in 15 and effective response in 4, ineffective response in 11, with a total efficiency of 68.6%(24/35). There were 4.8 average injection times. The mean dose of sclerosant foam used in each patient was 322 mg. There was statistically significant difference in total efficiency of 2 groups (χ²=6.245, P<0.05). The main adverse effect were tissue necrosis, nerve injury and limitation of mouth opening. There was no statistically significant difference in adverse effect of 2 groups (P>0.05). Conclusions DSA-guided percutaneous application of ethanol sclerotherapy combined with lauromacrogol foam sclerotherapy for the treatment of hyper-backflow venous malformations is safe and effective with fewer complications.This technique is especially useful for the hyper-backflow type of venous malformations.

Xuanwei district in Yunnan Province of China has pretty high incidence of lung cancer in China, even a- round the world. Studies have shown that there exists a close relationship between lung cancer and local indoor air pollution caused by Bituminous coal. Considering that the indoor air pollution in Xuanwei District is caused by "open fireplace", an indoor air pollution simulation system was designed, and an F344 rats lung damage model was estab- lished for this indoor air pollution fireplace. The model is based on indoor air pollution simulation system with signal multiplexer control and multi-channel acquisition, and mining PID algorithm was used for polynomial fitting to each test point, and a relatively constant PM2. 5 air pollution status was simulated. The results showed that the system could simulate a variety of states of air pollution, provide a new test method for evaluation of human injury caused by indoor air pollution and a new idea for the study of the incidence of lung cancer in Xuanwei district and other places.

Objective:To investigate the clinical efficacy of reconstruction of the mandibular defect in patients with osteoradionecro-sis using submental artery island flap and reconstructive Ti-plate.Methods:20 cases with mandible osteoradionecrosis underwent par-tial mandibulectomy.The submental artery island flap and reconstructive Ti-plate were used to reconstruct the mandibular defects and adjacent soft tissue defects.The post-operative effects and flap successful rate were evaluated with a follow-up period of 6 to 1 8 months.Results:1 9 flaps were well survived,local necrosis in the remote end was observed in 1 flap,but survived by hyperbaric ox-ygen therapy and iodoform gauze dressing,no plate exposure was found after operation in the follow up period.All patients were satis-factory with the outlook.Conclusion:Submental artery island flap combined with reconstructive Ti-plate is feasible in the treatment of osteoradionecrosis.
