With the continuous acceleration of population aging, traditional elderly care service models confront practical challenges such as uneven resource allocation and insufficient service efficiency. Smart elderly care, as an intelligent integrated service system, is deemed an effective path to address population aging and improve the quality of life for the elderly. Nevertheless, while these technologies bring convenience, they also give rise to a series of ethical risks, such as privacy leakage, emotional alienation, over-reliance on technology, and ambiguous liability definition. In view of this, this paper analyzed the current status of research and application of smart elderly care technologies from the technology, application, policy, and market dimensions. It proposed coping strategies for the ethical governance of smart elderly care technologies, advocating for implementation paths of formulating norms, strengthening training, conducting strict reviews, and improving legislation. Following the ethical principles of privacy protection, informed consent, and technological restraint, it aimed to achieve the goal of technology for good. Thus, it promoted smart elderly care technologies to truly realize the organic integration of “digital and intelligent empowerment” and “humanistic guardianship,” thereby contributing to the healthy and sustainable development of the elderly care service system.
